India pulled out of RCEP

BANGKOK: India said Monday (Nov 4) it would not join a sprawling Asian trade pact, raising fears over how domestic producers would be hit, in a major blow for what could be the world's largest trade deal.

The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) was meant to account for 30 per cent of global GDP and loop in half of the world's people.

But India dug in over concerns about market access, fearing its domestic industries would be hard hit if the country was flooded by cheap Made-in-China goods.

"We have conveyed to the participating countries that we will not be joining the RCEP," Vijay Thakur Singh, a senior diplomat in charge of East Asia for India's Ministry of External Affairs.

"Our decision was guided by the impact this agreement will have on the ordinary human beings of India and livelihood of people, including the poorest of the poor," she said. Reported by CNA

This is reported as a big blow to this regional economic and trade pact. To some it is a blessing to have India out of the pact so that the other more advanced economies can move on.

However regrettable is the withdrawal of India, the door is left open for India to join at a latter date when it is ready. One possible option for India to join the pact is for RCEP countries to look at the CECA terms Singapore signed with India and offer them to India. This is a proposal that India cannot refuse. For allowing access of goods into India, the other countries could allow India to export its cheap and very talented labour in return. Singapore could take the lead to assist India's entry by presenting this wonderful agreement to the RCEP Committee and showing how it has worked so successfully with the economy growing at 1%. The Committee would be impressed by the generous CECA terms and India would quickly join RCEP in double quick time.

I am sure Singapore would love to play this role and be greatly appreciated by the RCEP members for bringing India into the group. How can the RCEP be signed without India, the next super power?

Our India lover Chok Tong could help the RCEP countries to get hitch with India fever. This would be another feather in his hat after making India fever so hot in Singapore.

The Sin Leedership must the Smartest when it sign CECA. The Most Gainful A Advantage is Market and the Abundant Cheap Labour that Sin can exploit infinitely. The Expertise of its more than 5000 Years Civilization is another area where Sin can rely on for survival.

PM Modi certainly knows lndias' position, especially when his people are under-equip with most consumer products.
Building of sanitary facilities itself could mean trillions of business.

To cut it short, the Sin Leedership has proven itself to be the Most Clever in signing CECA.

  3. There are only two things Sin can sell to India, shit water and shit pots. But these have to be cheaper than what the Indians could produce.

The only country that can produce things cheaper and better than India is China.

Sin can only offer India to employ its abundance of cheap labour and fake talents and a lot of free money.

  4. Yes, I surely can agree that the SIN leaders must be very clever, more clever than the top 10% of the 1.5 billion India Indians.

That's why SIN leaders happily continue to pay themselves by the $millions, while Indian Ministers are being paid peanuts (under-table or closed-door transactions cannot be proven, so cannot be used to inflate their income, except for those found guilty by the Indian courts).

  6. @ Human Nature

Everyone, including those who lead sovereign nations, makes choices and decisions based on (what they THINK at the time) their own SELF INTEREST.

India is too crucial to the region and the world to be "out of The Game". They are still very much in The Game, even though they've pulled out of some made-up group which they reckon works against their own interest.

Singapore could have struck a "better deal" with CECA...the same reason applies when married men lament that there are "better women" than the wives they're married to. Or when you go to a shop and buy something, you "worry" that somewhere nearby there's a shop selling the thing you just bought "cheaper".

In other words, thinking about shit like this is NEUROTIC. It doesn't serve any purpose, there is NO VALUE and it only makes you worry about shit after the fact which you can't change anyway.

CECA is here to stay. The continuation of the cuntry is MORE IMPORTANT than a few pissed off "entitle-minded" people who still think that their cuntry owes them a living.

Singapore's future is so much better without these dead shits anyway. By the way, where do these dead shit losers get off anyway? They reckon they have the nous to determine PUBLIC POLICY and get to decide that they are "better" than the foreigners management chooses? Fuck off lah!

These assholes have probably never written a pay check in their lives. All they are capable of is take, take, take...they are paid for an 8 hour day but their aggregate number of hours worked is probably LESS THAN HALF of the time they're paid for.

Plus they get CPF contribution so they can buy homes and shake legs and retire, and continue bitching. πŸ˜‚πŸ€£ Are you now beginning to see the COMEDY SHOW now?

India out of RCEP? No problem lah. Business as usual, with some "adjustments".

CECA is here to stay. Get used to it. We are getting more people here. Get used to it. Singapore will be producing MORE MILLIONAIRES, especially young ones. i.e. if you are not in The Game, that is your business---majullah or mati lah...up to you lah. (Aka lu mati, lu punya pasal)☠️πŸ€‘

At the summit, Indian PM Modi said his country wants to see greater ambition on services even as it remains “committed to a comprehensive and balanced outcome” from ongoing RCEP negotiations. (fork-tongue, double-talk)

“We have put forward reasonable proposals in a clear manner and are engaged in negotiations with sincerity (again fork-tongue, double-talk) ..... We would like to see commensurate levels of ambition on services from many of our partners, even as we are ready to address (again fork-tongue, double-talk) their sensitivities.”

Over the last seven years (since Nov 2012), India has been pushing all the other countries to allow its growing population of jobless and unemployed to have greater free movement to other countries to work without restrictions in exchange for opening its market to only certain goods that India cannot produce by itself.

In other words, India wants to have the key advantages on both ends of the scale: I sent my unwanted or extra manpower to your countries to provide services, you send to my country only the products that I want.

Modi wanted all this while to impose a CECA-type agreement with all the other RCEP member countries, with Indian labor easily obtaining work visas to work in those countries, while only restricted goods (not services) are being imported into India.

Those last minute trickery arrangements would have made China, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, and the ASEAN countries look fucking STUPID if they ever agree to India's sneaky demands.

CECA is to expand business for S'pore banks, in exchange for free-er flow of india white collar workers.

E.g. DBS to setup more than 100 branches & kiosks in India within the next 1.5 years

E.g. DBS to enter Indian credit card market in 2020

E.g. OCBC ties up with Indian wealth management company

Bank of Singapore (OCBC's private bank division) has 80 private bankers in S'pore to serve HNW india indians.

India can also make use of CECA to send those top people with corrupt money or dirty money to Singapore under the guise of Fake Consultants, Fake CEOs, Fake HR Managers or Fake Investors. Singapore would willingly welcome them because more money can flow into Singapore's banking sector and increase the GDP.

As I already said, it is human nature to base decisions on ONE'S SELF INTEREST.... (what is "self interest" depends on the individual)

    >> In other words, India wants to have the key advantages on both ends of the scale: I sent my unwanted or extra manpower to your countries to provide services, you send to my country only the products that I want. <<

Of course lah. I quote the work done by Robert Cialdini in relation to The Anchoring Bias

In other words, if you want "the best deal", be the one FIRST to quote (bid or offer) the PRICE/ CONDITIONS. If you are buying, quote ridiculously LOW. If you are selling, quote unashamely HIGH. That establishes a "baseline", for further negotiations. Chances are you'll get the best deal with this "mind hack" (you hack the other party's mind) than you would have if you didn't use this technique.

Everyone's mind can be "hacked" if you know how. I hack people on a daily basis, just to keep up the practice. πŸ˜‚

    Dear Singaporeans,

Singaporean PMETs are unable to compete with foreign talents and trash because Singaporeans have:

    1. Zero EQ:

    - Blindly follow the laws ->> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FtdRqHFQ-0A

    - Singaporeans have Zero EQ that blindly follow law, e.g. security guard Steven Heng is one good example.

    - I am glad that Steven Heng and his entire security team have been sacked from their jobs after being fucked by the resident Rubbish Ramesh.

    - No jobs for them due to their own faults. Yes, Singaporeans have brought this upon themselves the predicament: Don't dare to fight back; just behave like a timid sheep and donkeys. So, don't blame the foreigners.

    2. Zero critical thinking:

    - From cradle to grave Singaporeans let all their thinking done by the PAP government and follow each and every instruction and policy set by the PAP leaders like mesmerised sheep and toads.

    - Singaporeans cannot think outside the 10-year series template. Any issue that is not in the 10-year series, they cannot solve and look at one another like idiots.

    - Singaporeans behave like toads in well that make lots of noises but can only think that NUS, NTU and SMU are the best in the world.

    - There are other fantastic universities like Southern Pacific University and University of Hull which our highly sought after by employers in Singapore. And ICA and MOM will readily grant work visas and citizenship to such university graduates and give them high-paying and high-status jobs that Singaporeans are not smart enough to enjoy.

Yes, Singaporeans have Zero EQ and Zero critical thinking. Therefore, they need to be sacked just like that security guard, Steven Heng who readily accepted the "sincere" apology of the Rubbish Ramesh.

  24. India may be a big market, but locals have all along prevented big businesses catering to Indian consumers to move in for decades. This is why India can never move fast ahead. Indian growth is fast decelerating. I think it is a blessing in disguise for those participating in the RCEP with the exit of India. Their hands are not tied by India and what they must concede towards India.

The Indian Government, now and in the past, been caught between a rock and a hard place. On the one hand, India is looking towards a 5 trillion GDP economy, but on the other hand Indian politicians have to pander to local small businesses, whose votes make or break the political parties.

This is also the scenario relevant to the American political scene. Both political parties have to cater to the big business interest, whose campaign contributions directly dictate the mindset of the policy makers in office.

Ironically this is democracy at work, and whether such a system is good or bad is left to the imagination of what political contributions from big bankers and businesses can do to a country. Such conglomerates become too big to fail in the eyes of the Government, and knowing that bailout is every ready to be given should things go wrong, they think little of flouting all the rules and regulations.

The whole democratic system is also all centred on preparations for the next election, years before it is to be held, with lots of money, effort and much valuable time spent on witch hunts, digging out dirts on political opponents and of course making promises during campaigning that more often than not, are not kept.

Although I wasn't a happy camper in their early days (I nearly sued them once), I must say in the present state, they are superb. In fact, sometime time ago they won the "World's Best Bank" award. Not to say I base my judgment on arbitrary awards, but winning an award does say something about that enterprise.

Of course, they have the entire treasure trove of POSB deposits, and most citizens have had POSB accounts from the time they were in school. In my time the passbook was fashioned in brown paper and had green pages.

  29. Trump's 'blue dot network' is all talk against Xi's no talk but action. After nearly 70 years of aid, what has America really given to poor countries, short of destruction and mountains of debts to service their war adventure courtesy of USA on top of rebuilding the country after the war.

Would countries used loans to buy weapons for war that is practically all short life wasting assets, instead of using loans for building infrastructures that can help poor countries develop and help to pay back the loan. In the first scenario, poor countries will remain dead ducks forever, enslaved by the evil empire like lap dogs.

Now, with the US$ losing influence, which country is going to buy US debts big time? As it is, the USA does not even have the dough to renew their homeland infrastructures and they are talking about a blue dot network?

And is the 'blue dot network' a project that is too little too late? Trying to win the battle when they have already lost the war! The Russians and Chinese are already big time influencers in Africa and projects are slowly being unveiled for the whole world to see. Beautiful airports, train stations, highways, bridges not to mention the electric buses being introduced to the South American countries.

What has America given those countries but sanctions, attempted regime changes and stealing their resources like oil. China had been called out for stealing and cheating, but what of the US? Pompeo admitted that the US lie, cheat and steal. They stole the country from the Red Indians! They stole Hawaii and Diego Garcia from the natives! What more clearer can the picture be?

  35. Three charged in US with spying on Twitter users for Saudi Arabia
    7 Nov 2019

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (L) is reported to be "Royal Family Member-1," who is mentioned in a US indictment over an alleged plot to use Twitter data to spy on dissidents.

Two former Twitter employees and a third man were charged in San Francisco Federal Court Wednesday with spying on Twitter users critical of the Saudi royal family, the US Justice Department announced.

The two Saudis and one US citizen allegedly worked together to unmask the ownership details behind dissident Twitter accounts on behalf of the government in Riyadh and the royal family, the department said.

According to a court filing, they were guided by an unnamed Saudi official who worked for someone prosecutors designated "Royal Family Member-1," which The Washington Post reported was Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Those charged were former Twitter employees Ali Alzabarah and Ahmad Abouammo, along with Ahmed Almutairi, a marketing official with ties to the royal family.

"The criminal complaint unsealed today alleges that Saudi agents mined Twitter's internal systems for personal information about known Saudi critics and thousands of other Twitter users," said US Attorney David Anderson.

"US law protects US companies from such an unlawful foreign intrusion. We will not allow US companies or US technology to become tools of foreign repression in violation of US law," he said in a statement.

The lawsuit comes as US-Saudi relations continue to suffer strains over the brutal, Riyadh-sanctioned murder last year of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, who wrote for, among others, The Washington Post.

A critic of Crown Prince Mohammed, Khashoggi was killed and dismembered inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul.

US intelligence has concluded that the prince himself was closely linked to the murder.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Laughable! Really laughable!

Charged for spying on twitter users 'critical' of the Saudi royal family? Not for spying on twitter users, mind you!

Now, what has the three found out that is so damming about Saudi 'Royal Family Member 1' that forced the US Government to act? Of course all the reasons are reasons manufactured to justify the action. Then, if US intelligence has concluded that the prince himself was closely linked to the murder, why no follow up on the case?

If any other leader were in similar straits, the US and the West would be shouting sanctions and MSM will have field days parroting the call for justice.
