China is hungry for food. The Amazon is left counting the cost
The face of Brazilian rainforest is changing, and China is responsible for that in no small way, with its newfound love of beef and demand for soya beans....(the bold emphasis is mine, and this is main statement of this article).
China needs to feed its population and would food from any country that is willing to sell, just like countries importing palm oil from countries that are clearing land for palm oil or soya beans, or importing weapons from countries that are manufacturing and selling weapons. Who is to be blamed, the buyer or seller? The buyer did not point a gun at the seller to sell their beef or palm oil/soya beans or weapons. It is the sellers that see good profit and decided to clear land for farming and plantations and factories to make weapons.
Why is it the fault of China that pays good money on a willing buyer willing seller basis. Why is China responsible for the deforestation of the Amazon? Did China send its soldiers that to clear the forest? This kind of western narrative at China bashing is prevalent to smear China as a irresponsible country. China on the whole eat less beef than the Americans or Europeans.
Why incur debt? If they want to incur debt, they must do it in a big way like the Americans in tens of trillions US$ or like other developed countries, including Singapore, all high in debt. These countries never complain about their debt but very happy with their big debt and development and all the good infrastructures. The poor and developing countries must remain as they are, poor and underdeveloped and debt free. The West love them so much that they pain to see them in debt, owing money to China but not to the West.

MATO GROSSO, Brazil: It is the world’s largest
rainforest, containing 10 per cent of the world’s known biodiversity.
And it is paying the price for helping to feed a country 17,000
kilometres away.

All the irresponsible countries that are selling beef, soya beans and palm oils should stop their people from clearing land to produce these food to sell. If they don't sell to China they would sell to someone else. If they don't sell, they would have no money to feed their people and they will die or live in poverty. If they are so unhappy with what they are doing, then stop doing it. Why commit murders and blame China for it?
Singaporeans can also blame India for sending its unemployed and jobless in the millions to Singapore to work, depriving Singaporeans from good jobs, and also for clearing our little forest to build more homes and factories for these foreigners. Soon we would not have a single little forest in Singapore to talk about. Should be blame India for it? Using this stupid westernn logic, Asean countries affected by the annual haze should also blame China for buying palm oil from Indonesia?
What kind of stupid logic is this? And CNA is screening this programme that put the blame squarely on China for destroying the Amazon forest. I thought the anti China gang of four have been gagged, now this again. Is this good for Singapore China relations? What is the intent of Singapore to publish and screen such western narratives that always accused China of wrong doings when China is a distant innocent party? Why not publish and screen the crimes of the Americans and the West in the Middle East leading to the biggest exodus of Arabs and Muslims in modern history and the death and destruction of their countries and people? Why no narrative about the western wars and crimes against humanity in the Middle East and Africa that are worthy to be reported?
Oh the Americans and the West are so innocent. They are the angels helping the Arabs and Muslims, including protecting their oil fields. They are there to destroy their countries in order to rebuild them. They are there to kill them to force them to migrate to better places in Europe and America. See, what a generous, peace loving and magnanimous people the Americans and the West are compare to China for buying beef, soya beans and palm oil from countries that have to destroy their forests.
Brazil, please don't feed the Chinese, you don't have to, you don't have to clear your forest to do so. Is Brazil helping China or China helping Brazil? Brazil like all developing and underdeveloped countries do not need China's money or help. All the countries asking China to build their roads and railways and infrastructure did not need so. They do not need the roads and railways and infrastructures and ended in debt, owing money to China. They can continue to live their way of life, poor roads, no railways no infrastructure and be happy as they are. The West love them to be like that.
Why incur debt? If they want to incur debt, they must do it in a big way like the Americans in tens of trillions US$ or like other developed countries, including Singapore, all high in debt. One hand patted their shoulders, the other poked their arses.
@ Bribery requires 2 parties:
ReplyDeleteI love bribery. I have bribed my way thru Asia, from getting out of traffic tickets to getting a "speedy" work-business visa happening whilst others have to wait and wait playing with their balls.
Bribery is a form of market arbitrage---when there is a difference between the TRUE COST of something and the fucked-up govt imposed cost. Most govt officials are paid PEANUTS so they are incentivized to seek, then accept the "true value" of their service, as reflected in MARKET PRICES. For e.g.: Some poor shit-kicker is working at immigration earning maybe (if they are lucky) US$150 per month. To get your visa approved quickly, you just offer at least US$100, maybe more...and VOILA, like MAGIC you are now "legal".
Bribery works, it aids the free flow of commerce and by-passes all the stupid govt red-tape which slows you down. Bribery is pure WIN-WIN SELF-INTEREST at play. I get what I need, the "corrupt" officials get what they WANT. ๐ค๐ฝ๐๐ป
China bribed the corrupt presidents probably with some cash and the promise of large beef orders. Is the Chinese leadership to blame? Different people will have different answers.
What we know is that the PRC is rife with corruption. China previously banned BitCoin. But everyone knows high ranking PRC members used BitCoin to bypass China's strict capital controls---outflows, so that these "heroes of The People" could transfer their BILLIONS overseas to buy property in places like Singapore, Vancouver, and Sydney for example. Even President Xi's family has a substantial amount of wealth transferred overseas.
Bribery is a market phenomenon. In the relm of geopolitics, it is a necessary skill. ๐
UK War Crimes Cover-up
ReplyDeleteThe UK Government and its Armed Forces have been accused of covering up the killing of civilians by British troops in Afghanistan and Iraq.
An investigation by BBC Panorama and the Sunday Times has spoken to 11 British detectives who said they found credible evidence of war crimes.
Soldiers should have been prosecuted for the killings, say insiders.
Of course, needless to say, the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) said it rejected the unsubstantiated allegation of a pattern of cover-ups. (Would a deliberate murderer admit to his crime easily.)
The new evidence has come from inside the Iraq Historic Allegations Team (IHAT), which investigated alleged war crimes committed by British troops during the occupation of Iraq, and Operation Northmoor, which investigated alleged war crimes in Afghanistan.
The government decided to close IHAT and Operation Northmoor, after Phil Shiner, a lawyer who had taken more than 1,000 cases to IHAT, was struck off as a solicitor following allegations he had paid fixers in Iraq to find clients.
But former detectives from IHAT and Operation Northmoor said Phil Shiner's actions were used as an excuse to close down criminal investigations. None of the cases investigated by IHAT or Operation Northmoor resulted in a prosecution.
One IHAT detective told Panorama: "The Ministry of Defence had no intention of prosecuting any soldier of whatever rank he was unless it was absolutely necessary, and they couldn't wriggle their way out of it."
Another former detective said the victims of war crimes had been badly let down: "I use the word disgusting. And I feel for the families because... they're not getting justice. How can you hold your head up as a British person?"
Panorama has re-examined the evidence in a number of alleged war crimes cases. One such case investigated by IHAT was the shooting of an Iraqi policeman by a British soldier on patrol in Basra in 2003.
Raid al-Mosawi was serving as an Iraqi policeman in Basra when he was shot dead.
Raid al-Mosawi was shot in an alleyway as he left his family home, and later died from his wounds. The incident was investigated at that time, by the British soldier's commanding officer, Maj Christopher Suss-Francksen.
Within 24 hours, Maj Suss-Francksen concluded the shooting was lawful because the Iraqi police officer had fired first and the soldier had acted in self-defence.
His report said another British soldier had seen the shooting and confirmed the Iraqi had fired first.
IHAT detectives spent two years investigating the case and interviewed 80 British soldiers, including the soldier who had supposedly witnessed the shooting. But he told detectives he was not in the alleyway.
In his statement to IHAT, this soldier directly contradicted Maj Suss-Francksen's report: "This report is inaccurate and gives the impression that I was an eyewitness. This is not true."
The soldier said he had only heard one shot, which suggested the policeman had not fired at all. This was confirmed by other witnesses interviewed by IHAT.
Detectives concluded the soldier who shot Raid should be prosecuted for killing the Iraqi police officer and Maj Suss-Francksen should be charged with covering up what happened. But military prosecutors have not taken anyone to court.
Maj Suss-Francksen refused to comment on the evidence gathered by the IHAT investigators or why it was insufficient to satisfy a prosecution of any soldier under UK law.
Operation Northmoor was set up by the UK government in 2014 and looked into 52 alleged illegal killings.
Its closure was announced by the UK government before Royal Military Police detectives even had a chance to interview the key Afghan witnesses.
One Northmoor detective said: "I wouldn't write off a job until I have spoken to both parties. If you are writing off a job and the only thing you have got is the British account, how is that an investigation?

ReplyDeleteRB
Maybe at the urging of Uncle Sam?
Don't forget Singapore need American aircraft carrier to dock at Changi Naval Base, u know.
Or else if Singapore kena attack by bigger neighbours who can protect Singapore? China?
Of course this type of thing PAP cannot anyhow say publicly lah.
Only netizen like me can anyhow TCSS in RB blog where PAP may not bother. LOL
Why only China is hungry for food? Every country that has human beans and animals, and wildlifes, is hungry for food. Why single out only China.
ReplyDeleteThe motherfucker/s who wrote The article and the uneducated CNA publisher/editors are also hungry for food everyday, at least three meals a day, like everybody else.
Not only that. Like everybody else, they are also hungry for money, sex and material things to make their lives or their children's lives more comfortable.
So, what the fucks are they trying to do by singling out China as a punching bag. CNA editors and owners think China can be easily bullied? Looking down upon the Chinese leadership? Undermining the Chinese people all over the world, including insulting the Chinese Singaporeans and Chinese Voters in Singapore?
PAP's mouth-piece's antagonistic behaviour towards the Chinese voters in Singapore means PAP is confident that it has sufficient foreigners turned new citizens to carry its day in the coming Generals' Erection. I think so.
What do others think? I don't know and don't need to know.

Every Fucking Country is rife with corruption. The worst of all is USA and India.
@ RB
ReplyDeleteI can state over and over that the CCP is not China, and China is not the CCP forever and ever, and selectively-deaf people like RB still won't listen.
Such poor scholarship: when presented with FACT they don't like, they AD HOMINEM ATTACK the presenter with things like "western parrot", "unthinking banana" contributing ZERO, zilch, nada, kosong to the argument.
Sure the CCP did a lot for Chinese people lifting them up from poverty and putting the cuntry in history as a "success"....learning a lot from Singapore, thanks to Deng Xiaoping.
However, later, Xi gets into power and starts to DECREASE freedoms of the people.
What starts of in Hong Kong, will find its way to Taiwan and then over time "leak" into the mainland of China. I'm talking about a YOUTH-LED REVOLUTION.
Today's youngsters are smart, motivated and connected....GLOBALLY connected. The ideas flow free and fast, and young people are easily "seduced" and influenced by ideas of "freedom". You cannot stop this. Even the power and might of the CCP and its PLA cannot stop this.
They block the internet. Now they are closing gaming cafes early...but the YOUTH of any society will naturally "rebel" if you push them too hard.
Mark my words, young people are growing DISSATISFIED with the way we old farts are running the world. They want a STAKE in their future. At the moment the "future" of every cuntry is being determined by the policy wonks and "technocrats" all in their 50s or older. No wonder every current protest and civil disobedient actions are perpetrated by YOUNG people. They don't like the way we oldies run the show....their future.
China is getting richer very quickly. As a result young people are becoming more financially savvy and independent...and there's only so much SHIT that they'll be willing to accept from the old farts.
It starts in HK, spreads to Taiwan and then the Chinese mainland. The "last stage" occurs when the young people in the CCP and PLA turn AGAINST their elders.
China is not immune to a youth-led revolution. In fact, it's something I am willing to bet money on in happening!
I admired how the modern day Dabawalas, the PMD food delivery drivers up in arms and showed their braveries against the ministers to defend their black hole, no future job being threatened on the Government banning of the e-scooter.But when come to CECA they showed their cowardice.
ReplyDeleteWhy can’t they ever think that CECA is the one that putting them in this black hole job.
Where in the world where one on tourist Visa , one can apply for a job!. I am speechless! In Australia, you get yourself deported !
I understand most of these food delivery drivers are from ITE graduates. These graduates are being trained on skills that are required in various industries but why are they doing these food deliveries? It is a waste of tax payers money in setting up all these ITE institutes where they will end up as a Dabawala. The same can be said of our polytechnic graduates ending up in real estate agents , insurance agents and grab drivers. It is waste of tax payers money.
Thus we can see CECA is destroying everything. Only in Singapore where a fake can become a financial director. And the best part our ministers are defending these fakes. The whole world is laughing at us folks! We have clowns running that are running the Government.
CECA open the door where a third rate degree can become engineers, analysts directors, managers and bank officers, if you are lucky , you can become a chief executive of a bank(fyi, dbs chief was from Indian university) A well respected company director in India said 90% of engineers in India are not qualified. Thus we can safely say, 90% of the frauds are here. What is the point of studying hard and going to university when companies prefer a fake. In a nutshell, we have a dysfunctional nation.
Why don’t you show the same bravery against CECA? Why can’t you ever think that you are in this black hole because of the PAP Government approving this CECA. ?
Cant blame the Singaporeans after 50 years of brainwashing left them without the capabilities to think!

Hours earlier, police tear gas forced hundreds of protesters, some lobbing petrol bombs, to retreat behind make-shift fortifications at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in some of the most dramatic scenes since protests began more than five months ago.

ReplyDeleteFood delivery can easily be done using human-leg powered BICYCLES.
In the old days our TOUGH ANCESTORS used BICYCLES as their main means of transport. They could cycle to the wet market and haul fresh food to feed a family on their fucking bikes.
However today's Ah Kwa entitled, cry baby victim mentality waste-of-oxygen all want "easy life" and whine and complain when the govt bans PMDs.
Use your human energy lah. Ride bicycle. It's good for you. Many of those PMDs riders are fat fucks who can afford to lose 10kg at least.
Geez, what a bunch of shameful cry babies! ๐ค

I share your observation.
Correct, agreed. Those fat tummy and fat ads are signs of laziness. Using bicycle would be too difficult for these lazy quick-and-easy money grabbers. It is not in the DNA for the fatty lazy farts to exercise to lose weight. Therefore, e-scooters served them fine. That's why all the hue and cry.

Singapore - A Declining Society or City (cannot be called country or nation any more):
ReplyDeleteSingapore should close all the ITEs, and start a number Food and Goods Delivery schools.
Close all the Polytechnics, and open schools for insurance agents, housing agents, grab drivers, taxi drivers, hawkers, ice-cream sellers, baskers, toilet cleaners and most importantly balls-carriers to supply PAP MPs for Meet-The-People sessions, for RCs, CCs, CCCs and People's Association.
Oh yes! Don't forget, also open schools to train all editors and reporters to be robotic writers only know how to take orders from their Big Balls but devoid of self-respect, conscience and critical thinking.
And there is no need for Education Ministers, none of whom has ever been trained in educating people but are just experimentalists equivalent to blind men leading a bunch of handicap children. Close down the repeatedly failed Ministry of Education and Ministry of Manpower.
So Sg got plenty to eat.

Roti prata? Mee goreng? Nasi Lemak? kuih kelapa? Curry puff?
How not to be fat?
Food deliverers are KPKB becoz they cannot earn as much as before. Many interviewed on TV & newspaper are complaining they can only do 5-10 deliveries a day on foot or manual bicycles. After that pon-chek liao. Previously when using e-scooters they can make 30 or more deliveries a day.
ReplyDeleteIt's all about the money.
That's why PAP overnight offered $1K for their e-scooter to buy e-bikes. But some food deliverers still KPKB becoz e-bikes can only go on roads and they have to obey traffic rules.
7 millions tax payers monies just to pay for their blunders.
DeleteTax payers monies splurged as though their own.
In the first place why followed such foolish practices just because others are doing it.
Displaced our citizens Into such menial jobs just for their daily survivals.
China, even with their trained Vocational or other skills related industrial training have them worked in Industrial plants and industries.
Bill Gates said China can produced Fields and fields of trained Engineering and Vocational Graduates which the USA can only produce a dozen.
You cannnot have Unis graduates across the whole country and even vocational institutes graduates are just as productive.
Just simply dumped them into menial jobs of just delivery men and women is the failing of the Govt and the easy way out.
Shouting what's Gig or Gila Economy.
/// But some food deliverers still KPKB becoz e-bikes can only go on roads and they have to obey traffic rules.///
ReplyDeleteThat means they sacrifice safety to increase the number of trips. It is very clear. You can see them zooming here and there without a care for pedestrians' safety. Even dashing through bus-stops when people are alighting from the buses. How dangerous! Alighting passengers cannot see and never expect that the moment they step out of the bus, a speedy monster suddenly whacks them in the face or hands and legs!.
I got whacked twice in this way. And near misses at least ten times in other incidents, usually when they speed towards me from behind silently.

Sri Lanka’s former wartime defence minister Gotabaya Rajapaksa has declared himself the winner of a tightly fought presidential election, after early results indicated he was ahead.
ReplyDeleteThe election took place seven months after the deadly Easter Sunday attacks, which saw self-radicalised Islamist extremists bomb hotels and churches.
The pro-US and pro-India contender, a son of the previous President has lost and conceded defeat, even when the counting has not completed yet.
Rajapaksa intends to re-establish closer relationship with China.

Together with a China National, they were implying that the Cattles rear to export to China were creating lots of damages to the Environment and harms the World, not just Brazil.
ReplyDeleteWeidu was also worried that much of Brazil will be owned by China.
She was based in Hongkong recently and was apparently biased towards the Rioters in her reportings.
Why and how a China born person is so prejudiced against the Country she is born in is quite mind boggling.
And China Authority seems fine with her unfriendly acts, allowing her to conduct her reporting within China itself.
