Mirror mirror on the wall, who is the richest of them all?

This table was posted in the TRE by Kenneth Jeyaratnam when he picked up Ho Ching for defending Hsien Loong's salary that for what Hsien Loong has done for Singapore, growing the population and GDP, his salary is justifiable. And there is Piyush Gupta's $11.9m salary to support the case that Hsien Loong is not overly over paid though relative to other world leaders it appeared so.

My posting of this article is not to discuss about Hsien Loong or Ho Ching's salaries. What is interesting and mysterious about the above table is the true wealth of each of the heads of govt. Who do you think is the richest of them all? I think this is indeed a very difficult question to answer.

Of the cuff Trump looks to be the richest with his billions earned from business, not from being head of govt/state. Xi Jinping looks very poor given his $29k and the leader of the most populous country of nearly 1.4b people. And of course Mahathir is a poor as a church mouse despite his billionaire sons whose fortune dunno came from where. Exceptional talents indeed.

In my view, Carrie Lam and Boris Johnson are the two genuinely poorer leaders of the lot.

What say you?

  3. What to say?

Trump is a braggart, so he always says he is worth billions, a stable genius, smarter than Einstein, but many suspect his wealth is a mirage and his intelligence all just a blown up bubble. Why is he so wary of revealing his tax record? If he is so rich, would he show and brag about it like Trump!

Mahathir is poor as a church mouse. His two ringgit or so slippers tells you so. But many in the know says he is richer than Najib. True or not you make a guess. His kids are super rich like Suharto's family. Suharto's wife is known as 'Madam 10%'. 10% of every business set up in Indonesia is no joke. Now, it is indeed a mystery how Mahathir's sons grew so rich. Ghostbuster Chew could have the answer!

Xi is hard to tell, but Matilah may have the facts to enlighten us.

And back home, how can the wife say her husband is very well paid compared to his peers, when it is only $2.2 million compared to her astronomical salary? Revealing her salary would send all of us into toxic shock and awe, even though we have already been programmed to expect the unbelievable. Even Woody's wife would agree that $2.2 million is just about a little more than 4 peanuts. Look at how much they sell peanuts in packets at NTUC or Sheng Song.

Hell, earning less than $500K is mediocre in Red Dot. I pity those leaders earning a fraction of that and cracking their heads looking after countries as huge as China and India. But of course, they must be deemed to be corrupt. Logical thinking!

Brother, you sleeping under the Merlion and just woke up? So, you are saying LKY passed the fishing village to GCT and GCT passed over the fishing village to LHL who turned it into what it is today?

  5. Highly educated criminals are the worst criminals on earth. All these self aggrandizement self highly paid public office holders are no different from Wall Street and Washington DC robber barons. They are all financial thieves and robbers.

DBS a local Singapore bank founded by Singaporeans, funded by Singaporeans capital, built up by Singaporeans, set up by Singaporeans, the bank's system well managed by Singaporeans and international connections well developed and set up by Singaporeans so much so that DBS has been able to make huge increasing annual profits for decades since its foundation in 1960s. Then out of the blue they say there is no local banking or financial talent to take charge of DBS. So they put in a strange southern Indian Pyush Gupta as CEO of the bank. What has this fellow added value to the bank besides collecting over ten to twelve million dollars in salary every year.

The bank has been so well set up and well managed by local talents with high annual profits before this Indian came. Even if this fellow go on one year leave the bank can still run smoothly and profitably as every department in the bank has been well managed.

There are more than enough numbers of highly qualified local talents who can be CEO of DBS. So what's the big deal of putting a foreigner as CEO of the bank. This fellow has been with DBS for some years getting bloating rich. He should be replaced next year and thereafter with a local blue Singaporean talent.

Disgusting to see local talents marginalised and side stepped in favour of fake foreign talent.

I have this gut feeling too.

But then hor, this fellow is put in by PAP which is voted in by 70% Sinkies.

So it is actually Sinkies who made this fellow so rich even if he didn't work properly.

    >> Xi is hard to tell, but Matilah may have the facts to enlighten us. <<

Unfortunately not. However Xi wife likes to buy property overseas. And then there is his sister, and his daughter...they all have "investments" here and there. I'm not saying that this is "bad". Corruption in politics is expected. The trick is to make it not look like "corruption" and appear to be "legal".

Mahathir has "family business interests". As does Trump. IMO, if you are rich, powerful and/or connected and you don't use your contatcs and social position to make more money, power, networks etc (i.e. 'VALUE" for yourself), then...YOU ARE A BLOODY FUCKING FOOL WHO'S REFUSED THE "FREE KICK" PRESENTED RIGHT IN YOUR FACE!

"Normal" people spend hundreds of millions, maybe BILLIONS every year on self-help "business" books, seminars, video and online courses trying desperately to gain skills and knowledge to increase their wealth, influence, networks, profitability etc etc...so those who get the "free kick" are just downright UNGRATEFUL if they don't take FULL ADVANTAGE of their station in life.

    @ 855:

    I agree with you.

Yes, LHL earns his money and Singapore is not a poor fishing village but a rocking, awesome cuntry to many and HOTEL to people like me.

If a bank boss can earn ~5 times the PM, then The PM is not being paid enough. LHL deserves higher pay. There I said it. fuck you who think I'm wrong. fuck you with a fistful of dirty chopsticks, dipped in ginger-chilli sauce, sideways up your arseholes. 😂🤣

    @ Redbean

Eh, kapoh kia...who gives a shit what other cuntries pay their leaders. In logic this is called a NON SEQUITUR, I.E. "IT DOES NOT FOLLOW", an INVALID ARGUMENT not supported by the premises.

I've always said the your level of so-called "scholarship" was lacking somewhat. You just keep proving me right. Thank you. 😂

  10. Besides his high pay, LHL is also different from the rest of the leaders in another aspect.

LHL lead a party called PAP which will sure win easily again next election.

The same cannot be said of the other leaders, even Xi Jinping, who now face great difficulties and uncertainty to maintain their power or even remain where they are.

So if given a choice which conutry I want to lead, I will choose Sinkieland and become LHL.

My high bar set for Ken is to form a party ready to replace PAP as govt. Only then can Ken even have any chance of winning at all.

If not, sure lose one no matter how brilliant Ken criticise PAP. And I agree PAP have a lot of faults to criticise.

This is the only high bar that will not make Ken end up like his father.

Unfortunately his Reform Party is "u know lah", let alone ready to replace PAP as govt.

As for LHL's remuneration, let's put aside & ask what has he done for Sinkieland? Probably some pros & some cons, the Chinese proverb said '盖棺论定' or the truth will reveal once a person passed on.

Not for Sinkieland but rather for PAP.

LHL has done a lot to make PAP easily win big big every election. Never mind if LHL screw Sinkies jialat jialat in doing so.

Whereas CSJ has screwed SDP up a lot by making SDP lose jialat jialat every election. And sama sama for the other Sinkie opposition leaders.

And CSJ said he earn his living selling his books! Anyone believe that?

If they don't believe, any wonder why CSJ cannot win election?

Please lah. The CIA is a HUGE PLAYER in startup tech businesses.

    https://www.businessinsider.com/companies-funded-by-cia-2016-9?r=AU&IR=T

Note; this article is old, 2016, which means even back then the info was probably old. Lord only knows what the CIA are involved in today, how much they're spending (investing) and what the results are---financial and actual working products.

So many opportunities to make money (in the secondary market), but you all seem to like "moralizing" instead. Good. You must be rich lah. 🤣

The CIA is not going away anytime soon. They are one of the most potent and consistent organizations in the history of the world. You might not like what they do, but what they do they are damn good at it.

    War stocks anyone?

  31. For all you know, maybe CSJ was created to make PAP look good and the opposition look bad. The hijacking of SDP leadership from Chiam, suing by PAP, hunger strike, etc are all part of the show to make things look logical. How did he survive is a good question. How many books can be sell to survive? Unless it is in the category of LKY's memoirs.

For all you know CSJ did exactly the same thing as what Harban Singh was created to do decades ago, and that was to discredit the opposition. Fancy asking WP to run the Town Council and he enters Parliament under a coalition agreement.

    Just thinking. LOL

  32. There r competitors rising to compete with CIA, probably the Soviets Intelligence agencies (or KGB) or even PLA agents will be able to pose a great challenge to the CIA infiltration & doctrine.

    ReplyDelete
  33. There are unconfirmed reports of trillions of US$ unaccounted for, money set aside for the Pentagon over the decades. Where did it all go to?

That money probably went to the CIA to fund all their activities like inciting regime changes, false flag operations, assassinations, sabotage and creating chaos as what we see recently in Venezuela, Hong Kong, Moscow and probably Indonesia and France.

There is no dirty work that the CIA will and can not do. All to be done for the evil empire without tarnishing or getting the evil empire directly involved.

You are implying that without LHL Singapore would still be a poor fishing village? Come on. Go read some history of Singapore. When did LHL took over as the PM? 2004. How was Singapore in 2004? A fishing village?

It's also why so many of the top Cheenas in politics & military are also multi-millionaires or billionaires. Not directly now, but via family and other relatives.

Similar to Sinkie politicians & generals. And even civil servants involved in the long discussions & relationship-building with various MNCs and large investment projects. Of course cannot buy shares or invest directly under your name, but go thru other relatives. Best if thru offshore trusts & family offices.

Don't know about Ah Loong .... but new citizen Piyush Gupta fully deserves his $11.9M paycheck.

Sinkie banks make the highest profits per capita.

Cheena banks have a LONG WAY to catch up, due to low retail loans penetration. Officially that is. In reality, cheena Gen Z are degenerate borrowers, but are not captured as they rely almost exclusively on shadow banking & businesses disguised as fintech.

"What has this fellow added value to the bank.."

He has closed DBS branches in prime location and moved them to into POSB branch (eg DBS AMK)

How many DBS branches are there in the North area for example and how long is the waiting time? Perhaps the local market is too small.

Compare for yourself UOB, OCBC, branches in prime area and you will know the answer.

Thanks to the Daft Sinkies WHO had contributed their billions by properties purchases and mortages loans.

Everyone jumping to bandwagons. Bite more than they can chew and swallow.
Everyone wants a piece of action in securing more than one property which they believed will be up up and up.
Don't lose to their kins and Jones's next door

Also, HDB OVER inflated high prices that everyone needed their loan sharks loans save for those first timers on HDB loans.

Profits mainly on properties loan sharks loans.

  40. A country's leeders & team should have be mindful and not take advantage just becos they are elected to rule this country by paying themselves $$$millions. We do not agree that by paying themselves highest political salaries in the world is to prevent them from corruption. It is all in their mind whether they themselves do feel guilty-conscience by taking huge salaries. All wealth in our country should be shared with the people, e.g. an army commander without the support of the soldiers and their welfare in mind will not win a battle.
