More and more companies flying the deadly Boeing 737 Max 8 planes are
starting to suspend flights using these planes. The Americans would not
want to be seen to do it for their own selfish reasons as the reputation
of Boeing would be at stake. The big question is whether there is a
very serious and dangerous flaw in the software or hardware of the
Boeing 737 Max 8 that warrants an immediate stoppage of these planes.
The two crashes came within months of each other and happened to almost
new planes must have sent a red warning to all its operators. Would this
be a case for playing safe and ground all these planes pending further
investigations or to continue flying and believing that all is well
until another crash?
There have been many speculations as to the possible causes of the
crashes. One went as far as saying that they are testing if they have
full control of the planes and can crash them as and when they wanted.
And the two crashes were just part of their testing plans involving
third world countries like Indonesia and Ethiopia and any death or loss
of properties would be just collateral damages. This allegation is
serious but not a total impossibility knowing how cruel and devious the
Americans are.
Since the disappearance of MH 370, there have been talks of it being
hijacked by someone or some country that were able to take over control
of the plane. The need to control planes from the ground took on extra
urgency after the 911 incident in New York. Hijackers must not be
allowed to take control of planes in mid air and ground controllers
cannot do anything about it. Ground controllers must be able to override
the pilot in the cockpit and take over control of aircraft. Is this the
new normal built into Boeing and American manufactured aircraft?
It is unimaginable that someone would willfully crash the two Boeing 737
Max 8s just to confirm that they have full control of the planes from
the ground and could bring the plane down at will. Is this the reason
why the Americans have no reason to fear about the Boeing planes
crashing but for those operators that were inconsequential to the
Americans to be unduly worried that the next crash test would be held at
their expense?
From some videos being circulated in the internet, the vertical nose
dive of the plane was not normal. It showed that the plane was diving
straight into the ground as if controlled and the pilot could not do
anything to recover from the steep dive. Not sure if these videos are
fakes. If they are genuine, the story behind the crashes is very
intimidating, scary and criminal.
Is this fiction or real?
CAAS has taken the initiative to ban all Boeing 737 Max 8 into and out
of Changi. This is a prudent decision as Singapore cannot afford a B737
falling out of the sky and into a densely populated area. And what did
the American FAA said, as expected, Boeing 737 Max 8 is airworthy.
Really?
What would it said and do if the crashes were Russian or Chinese planes?
Would they order the ICAO to ban all these planes from all the airports
in the whole world? Would the narratives in the western media be so
mild or with wild allegations and instilling more fear and making more
demands on checks and inspections on the makers of the planes? Two
similar accidents killing all the passengers not good enough?
If it's a Chinese or Russian-made plane, the Americans would now be belligerently screaming to the whole world to ban their planes ! But it's a Boeing, so the US Federal Aviation Administration says it's safe.

You said ".. many speculations... One went as far as saying that they are testing if they have full control of the planes and can crash them as and when they wanted..."
ReplyDeleteDid you make that out yourself?
I don't see the "many" speculations at all. There are numerous articles in social media already, but all the speculations I noted on googling, all point in the same direction,ie., Technical malfunction, design error.
Redbean, it is correct for you to dislike Americans, but imho, to conjure up a speculation like this and insinuate that many speculations (As at Today, I emphasize, unless you show proof otherwise) imply some sort of foul play, is simply untrue.
For the rest of the article, and regarding MH370, yes that part I totally agree with you concerning how evil American can be.

DeleteHi Humbleideas, please read what were commented here yesterday in other threads that I posted.
ReplyDelete@ humbleideas
ReplyDeleteNearly all "speculations" are based on INDUCTIVE logic/ reasoning. That is to say, one forms a "conclusion" (generalization) from citing a few specific examples. The classic example is by observing that all the swans you’ve encountered are WHITE (specific examples), so you conclude that ALL swans are white.
Then some smart cunt from Perth, says “Fuck you, you’re wrong, mate!”...and proceeds to school you on the fact that in Western Australia there are (too many) BLACK swans. The term has been entered into the English lexicon to illustrate the fact that you can never have a big enough sample to EVER BE 100% SURE that your claim --- derived from the observation of many “positive” samples ---- will always be TRUE.
The grounding of all the 737 MAX8s have all been based on inductive reasoning.
But what if they are wrong? The planes in fact might be safe, and those crashes were due to other, as yet unknown causes.
No matter, ground the fuckers anyway. Despite the obvious weakness of induction, one has to consider RISK (permanent, unrecoverable impairment to value).
The downside risk (death) here is far greater than the upside (revenue, profit). Plane crashes result in massive instant loss of life, and property. So better ground the fleets of 737 MAX8s, because if planes don’t fly, they don’t crash.
Until this matter is sorted out, most responses and opinions are just NOISE. No SIGNAL there. 🤣
On Monday, Italy's Codacons consumer association urged the Italian Civil Aviation Authority (ENAC) to immediately ground all Boeing 737 Max 8 airplanes in use in Italy.
ReplyDelete"In view of the preceding, wholly similar incident in Indonesia, and circulating reports on lack of pilot training in flight correction software, measures must be taken immediately to safeguard air transportation safety," said Codacons President Carlo Rienzi in a statement.
"We urgently call on ENAC to categorically ground all Boeing 737 Max planes present in Italian airports," Rienzi wrote, adding that Sardinia-based airline Air Italy "already has the model in its fleet, and has ordered a total of 20."
ENAC confirmed that Air Italy flies three Boeing 737 Max airplanes, which it "operates in full compliance" with Boeing and U.S. Federal Aviation Administration requirements "issued after a similar incident took place in Indonesia."
Speaking to La Repubblica newspaper in an interview on Monday, veteran airline pilot Danilo Recine from the National Association of Civil Aviation Professionals (ANPAC) pointed out that, while the causes of the Ethiopian Airlines flight crash are still unknown, "it is possible" that the plane's sensors malfunctioned.
"In the Lion Air crash (in Indonesia) last year, some of the parameters sent to the cockpit, such as speed and altitude, were wrong. The machine reacted with countermeasures to correct something that was not happening in reality...and the pilots could not override the system manually. We could be looking at something similar."

ReplyDeleteThere are those who delight in the fact that the Boeing company's stock will be "punished" in the market. I am of course referring to those who are fans of War Stocks (count me in).
Boeing doesn't just sell passenger jets which occasionally crash, kill people and get the marginally-educated and averagely intelligent “chattering classes” speculating and forecasting as if they have the relevant skills to do so. 😭😂 Boeing is VERY LARGE CAP business occupying the space, security and defence (also offence) contractor sectors. They are a serious war stock.
As China’s military capacity increases rapidly, the western world and its allies are shitting their pants. This is GREAT for business in the war industries...everyone, it seems, is shit-scared of China and are arming themselves heavily, which means more bucks for weapons and systems. Weapons manufacturers in every country are having great businesses whilst the rest of the market is shaky and jittery.
So yeah, go Boeing! In the old Chinese saying: Crisis = Danger + Opportunity. So two plane loads of people flying the same model of aircraft have fallen out of the sky. That’s horrific! But it is also PROFITABLE 🤓🤑
The Meaning Of 737 Max-8
ReplyDelete737 in Chinese means "Death Business Death"
Max means Maximum.
In view of the total destructive power and total death, the word Max takes on the macabre meaning of Maximum Kill.
Max-8, 8 means infinity = forever.
Therefore, 737 Max-8 has been coincidentally premonitionally named (intentionally or otherwise) as the:
"Double Death-Business Maximum Killer Machine Forever"

ReplyDeleteNo one can prove anything with 100% accuracy. There is always some element of randomness in every prediction. There is also something called error bars in every measurement. Every "signal" is mixed with "noise" (entropy, randomness). You can reduce (filter out) the noise, but you can never get rid of it completely.
Study too hard you say? In my opinion, ==> you <== may need to study harder yourself. Just a suggestion, based on observation...so the usual caveats (I just covered) of inductive reasoning apply. 😂🤣
I find that many people here cannot think logically. I have never said it is impossible for the Americans to stage a practice dive for Ethiopia airlines.
ReplyDeleteAll I am saying is that, for RB to insinuate that Many speculations are pointing to Foul Play by USA, is untrue. This is totally different from saying that "I think USA did foul play". The emphasis is on "many speculations". Can you see the difference?
When I asked for proof, it is not about proof that USA done it. Please open eyes big big,I asked, where is the proof that MANY people are speculating USA foul play is involved? RB asked me to check the threads. There isn't any article here that support his claim. If I have missed say ten articles suggesting that USA sabo the airplane, then I am proven wrong. It's nothing to do with whether USA is evil or not evil.
Disappointingly, MATilah also missed the point. He more or less said yes the speculation could be true. And I agree, but, as at todate, it is not true that many speculations are suggesting foul play. For Mh370, foul play theory abound very soon after the incident.
Humbleideas.com
Technically very plausible. Just look at drone technology and AI these days
ReplyDelete@ humbleideas
ReplyDeleteSad to say, mate...it is actually you who've missed the point.
Of course lah. Any speculation could be true.
The grounding of the 737's does not come from KNOWLEDGE. It comes from the LACK of knowledge.
There are 3 words which no one likes to use (except scientists and skeptics) because to the average educated-fool they suggest "ignorance". These are the words:
I DON'T KNOW. If you ever came across the Scientific Method, it could be time to re-aquaint yourself with the process

Banana Matilah said this,

This is GREAT for business in the war industries...everyone, it seems, is shit-scared of China and are arming themselves heavily, which means more bucks for weapons and systems. Weapons manufacturers in every country are having great businesses whilst the rest of the market is shaky and jittery.
So many western hypes and narratives have been planted in the bananas' heads that every time they open their mouths it would parrot the western narratives without thinking why. Yes, the American allies happily swallowed everything the Americans said, truth or myth, like the security threats of Huawei but not the security threats from Google, Apple, Facebook and the likes, or China is an aggressive country but the USA is a peaceful country, democracy is good, communism is bad.
Many silly Asean countries also have been programmed to hate and fear China. But not everyone as Matilah said is shit scared of China. Look at China's neighbours, all 17 of them, how many are shit scare of China other than Vietnam, Japan and India?
As for the unthinking silly Asean countries, they would act and behave exactly how the Americans would want them to and oblivious to the thoughts and ideas planted inside their thick skulls by the West. Let them be and let the bananas continue to think and behave as the Americans and the West want them to.
Chinese investments led to debt traps, exploiting the countries they invested???? You mean all these countries cannot think and asking for more debt traps willingly? American and western investments did not lead to debt traps and exploitation?
Kishore asked, can Asians think?
If China or Russia were to buy these 737 airplanes they wud hv changed some of those software or hardware inside the plane juz in case hackers cud intercept or hack into the system to take control of the plane. Similarly in Sinkieland most or all the fighters planes or naval ships cud hv some changes on its software or hardware when the army bought these toys, the Sinkies elites r not like the ordinary dafts they wud evaluate/test it like the F35s planes whether anything wrong, but the trains they test it on the ordinary people that's ridiculous !

ReplyDeleteI praise sillyness, bad thinking and reaction based on FEAR!
And I put my money where my mouth is. Hopefully, more cuntries decide to "fight" or "defend themselve" from China, and blow shit-tonnes of money on weapons.
China's debt is growing faster than their GDP (fact --- go and check lah). IMO, that could be a signal to short China. Me? I don't know. I don't trade China, but hold a LONG view (i.e. success and wealth) over the long term.
Other people's bad thinking and mistakes (especially governments over-spending and borrowing) are great opportunities for profit.
I reapeat myself: I couldn't care less about the fate of any cuntry or who the fuck runs it successfully or to the ground. Don't care, don't give one smelly shit. The People Get The cuntry they deserve...which is beyond my control. What I can control is HOW I BET. 😂

@ RB
ReplyDelete"Debt traps" are a great strategy if one is on the path to global dominance. I don't know if that's China's play, and I don't care either way --- whether it is or isn't.
What we ll can agree on is that when China pumps a whole heap of money into OBOR and infrastructure projects in a cuntry, that cuntry is most likely (statistically speaking) to experience an increase in asset values and revenues both private and public sector.
So if you are the "greedy" capitalist type...you know what to do do lah. Fuck the debt trap lah. You die, your business! 🤣
Every country has to make their own calculation. China can offer financing and expertise. The recipient countries must decide what is good for them, how much they could afford to borrow.
ReplyDeleteAll infrastructure projects are long term expensive projects and would take decades to pay back. This is normal, like purchasing a home. Not many could pay upfront at one go.
Mahathir is trying to con the Malaysians that Najib is over spending. Bull shit lah. Even his North South Highway or his crooked bridge would be repaid over decades.
Same as all the countries that are receiving aids from China, it is long term projects and long term repayment.
Loaded up more on Boeing last night near its lows again! :)
ReplyDeleteEven with the latest price drop, over the last 5 years, Boeing stock price has gone up more than 3X and this is even excluding dividends. This is 25% annual compounding. Thank you Boeing!!

Where lives are at stake, it is better not to rely too much on things that run on autopilot.
ReplyDeleteTechnology may work wonders for mankind in factories, homes and at work, but where lives are at stake, it is better to rely more on the human factor and experience. Two new planes crashing within 5 months, out of a total of 350 delivered, is far too much and early for the manufacturer to say that the Boeing 737 MAX is a safe plane.
The sad outcome of trying to marry software to run parallel to human action is a disaster waiting to happen, though this is yet to be analysed as a factor. If this is not a factor, why is Boeing upgrading the software after the Lion Air crash? They must be on to something sinister.
And why is the Lion Air crash investigation taking so long? Isn't knowing the outcome a priority with so many of the planes in service? If Boeing itself is investigating the information from the black box, and if Boeing is controlled by the FAA or US Government, will the truth be revealed or only the sanitised version sees the light of day?
11 am war stock guy, your excitement over your gain is built on death of many people. U should be ashamed of yourself and offer yourself to be sodomizes by victims families.
ReplyDelete@ 141
ReplyDelete>> but where lives are at stake, it is better to rely more on the human factor and experience. <<
You are neglecting the numbers. Every day there are over 100,000 passenger flights -- SAFE flights --- and they all rely at some point upon automated systems, which are designed to be as good or better than humans, and they are...until they aren't. The US pilots managed not to crash, but the African and Indonesian pilots...maybe they weren't as experienced or as well-trained...or just the simplest explanation of all: pure bad luck. (aka probability which works against the expected outcome)
>> The sad outcome of trying to marry software to run parallel to human action is a disaster waiting to happen, though this is yet to be analysed as a factor. If this is not a factor, why is Boeing upgrading the software after the Lion Air crash? They must be on to something sinister <<

ReplyDeleteWhen China on Monday became the first country to order all Boeing 737 Max 8 planes grounded in the aftermath of an Ethiopian Airlines crash Sunday, its aviation regulator sent an unmistakable signal: The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration is no longer the only authority in civil aviation worldwide
ReplyDelete.
After China ordered a dozen carriers to ground their 96 planes — about a quarter of all 737 Max aircraft in operation globally — authorities in Ethiopia, Indonesia, Mongolia, Morocco and Singapore quickly followed suit, along with carriers in Latin America and South Korea.
Despite the FAA issuing a statement backing the Boeing jet’s airworthiness, the European Union grounded the model Tuesday, as did at least 10 other countries, with authorities saying the aircraft would not be allowed to fly to or from their countries pending the investigation.
China’s move, unprecedented for a government that once took cues from the FAA, was motivated by what Chinese officials and pilots said was months of equivocation (the use of ambiguous language to conceal the truth or to avoid committing oneself; prevarication) from U.S. officials and Boeing in response to safety inquiries from China after a 737 Max 8 flight crashed in Indonesia in October.
A top official with the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) said Monday that the Chinese asked their counterparts at the FAA as well as Boeing about piloting software and safety issues concerning the popular new airliner model after Lion Air Flight 610 plunged into the sea off Indonesia last fall, but that they have not received satisfactory answers.
Aviation experts said issues with the 737 Max’s new piloting software, the Maneuvering Characteristics Augmentation System (MCAS), and angle-of-attack sensors may have played a role in both accidents, which occurred less than five months apart. Boeing issued notices to pilots worldwide about the MCAS after the Lion Air crash but has been criticized for not doing so sooner — or more thoroughly.
“They have had difficulty making a decision, so we took the lead,” CAAC Deputy Director Li Jian told reporters in Beijing, referring to a lack of stronger FAA measures regarding the 737 Max. Li added that the plane’s software may encounter serious problems when coupled with unreliable sensor readings and suggested that this has been happening to Chinese pilots.
“These kinds of situations have already happened many times,” Li said, without giving more details, according to state media. China will resume 737 Max flights after it has received sufficient safety guarantees from Boeing, he added, but there was a risk now that Chinese pilots “didn’t dare to fly, and weren’t able to fly” the plane.
The second 737 Max 8 crash has opened up raw wounds for families and friends of those who perished in the waters off Jakarta.
“I am saddened to know that [the] aviation industry was waiting for the incident to happen again to awaken themselves that Boeing is playing with lives of pilots,” said Garima Sethi, wife of Bhavye Suneja, the captain of Lion Air Flight 610.
ReplyDeleteKnow why US will not ground Boeing 727 Max??
The US Federal Aviation Administration found NO basis to order the grounding of Boeing 737 Max planes.
Why? Because, we do NOT down our own planes, that's why!
*Sylvia Lim exposed the Great Care shield Scam by shameless and heartless PAP in Parliament!*You will only get the benefits (the $300 under Elder shield, and $600 under Care shield in the future) if you are SEVERELY disabled, i.e. you are unable to do AT LEAST 3 out of 6 tasks of Assisted Daily Living, or ADLs. Let me repeat and emphasize: you MUST be SEVERELY disabled, and not just disabled, to qualify for Elder-shield/Care-shield payouts.
Sylvia related in Parliament today the case of Mr K:*"This resident, Mr K, was suffering from an advanced stage of kidney failure and already had his leg amputated earlier due to diabetes. The insurer later decided to discontinue Mr Kâ s Elder-shield benefits as the insurers's panel doctor had assessed that he could perform all of the six activities of daily living although partially*
"When I appealed on his behalf for a re-assessment, the insurer wrote back to him to fill up another claim form. Meanwhile he was admitted to a hospice. When I saw him there, he requested me to write to the insurer to say that he would not be filling up the form as he was in the hospice"
"Eventually, his daughter filled up the form, and I understand that the hospice doctors assisted to get his Elder-shield benefits restored. But within a month, he was dead."*So, literally, even if you have your limbs chopped off and are languishing in a care facility, you may still NOT qualify for benefits under Elder-shield (or Care-shield, in the future).
You literally have to be absolutely handicapped, probably totally immobile, and also on the brink of death first - and even then, no one knows for sure if you will qualify.
TBC: 02
ReplyDeleteContd: 2/2
You literally have to be absolutely handicapped, probably totally immobile, and also on the brink of death first - and even then, no one knows for sure if you will qualify.
*With $3.3 billion being collected through the premiums, it is criminal that someone like Mr K had to beg for a bit more help - and be rejected.
*We need to ask very serious questions about the money that is being collected and will be collected from Elder-shield and Care shield. If such a scheme had come from anywhere else, it would be called a scam. What else could it be if you collected BILLIONS and you reject help for someone who has had advanced kidney failure, diabetes and an amputation and had to be admitted to a hospice?
*Only heartless people holding on to billions would reject help for such a person.
*Sylvia Lim again:*"I would like to emphasize the point that Care-shield Life will be a compulsory scheme, and young Singaporeans will have to pay 37 years of premiums. With this looming fact in mind, Care-shield must have meaningful coverage, and my view is that the 3-ADLs test needs to be reviewed and readjusted to serve this end."
**Premiums paid is $206 per month, ie $2,472 per year. You have to pay insurance premiums for 30 years before you are qualified to receive any benefits.**($2,472 Ã 30 = $74,160)*
*At $600/- maximum payout it will take 123 months (10 years 3 months) before you break even. Actually if you include interest it is easily double 10 years before break even.

ReplyDeleteFacts About Boeing 737 Max, Not Speculations
ReplyDeleteUS Pilots' complainets about the 737 Max discovered from a Federal database:
(Source - Thom Patterson and Aaron Cooper, CNN)
1. US pilots who fly the Boeing 737 Max have registered complaints about the way the jet has performed in flight, according to a federal database accessed by CNN.
2. In one of the complaints, a Captain reported an autopilot anomaly which led to a brief nose-down situation -- where the front of the aircraft pointed down, according to the Federal database.
3. In another complaint, a First Officer reported that the aircraft pitched nose down after the autopilot was engaged during departure (take-off). The autopilot was then disconnected and flight continued to its destination, according to the Federal database.
4. Another pilot complaints from the Federal database include a report saying it is "unconscionable" that Boeing, the US Aviation Regulatory Agency (the Federal Aviation Administration) and the unnamed airline would have pilots flying without adequate training or sufficient documentation.
5. The same entry also charges that the Flight Manual "is inadequate and almost criminally insufficient".
6. The above reports offer evidence that pilots in the US have experienced something related to what happened in the Lion Air tragedy, and perhaps also the Ethiopian crash.

Facts About Boeing 737 Max, Not Speculations - Part 2
ReplyDelete7. Tnvestigators in the Lion Air crash suspect it may have been caused by an angle of attack (AOA) sensor on the outside of the plane which transmitted incorrect data that could have triggered the automated flight software called the Maneuvering Characteristics Augmentation System (MCAS) that forced the plane's nose downwards.
8. In November, after the Lion Air crash, Boeing issued an "Operations Manual Bulletin" advising airline operators how to address erroneous cockpit readings. It pointed airlines "to existing flight crew procedures to address circumstances where there is erroneous input from an AOA sensor," a Boeing statement said.
9. The FAA later issued its own Emergency Airworthiness Directive that advised pilots about how to respond to similar problems.
10. On Tuesday, Ethiopian Airlines' CEO Tewolde GebreMariam told CNN's Richard Quest that both pilots of Flight 302 had been trained and briefed on the FAA Directive after the Lion Air crash.
11. "There was training" with emphasis "on MCAS and also on the flight controls in general," he said.
12. But the "similarities are substantial" in both accidents, GebreMariam said, adding that there are a lot of questions to be answered about the airplane.
13. Ethiopian Airlines' CEO also told CNN that the pilot said he "had flight control problems" immediately before the 737 Max 8 crashed on Sunday.
14. Much of the world's Aviation Regulators (including Australia, UK, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, EU, Russia, China, India, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore) have banned the 737 Max - either the Max 8 or both the 8 and 9 version - which is a longer model of the Max (flown by US-based United Airlines).
15. Despite US Pilots' Unions and US Senators repeatedly calling for the Boeing 737 Max aircraft to be grounded until all safety measures have been addressed, the three US airlines refused to do so.
16. The Chief of the US Federal Aviation Administration has also declined to ground the said plane, which has suffered two deadly crashes in 5 months.
17. An ex-FAA Safety Inspector said on Tuesday, "I would've grounded Boeing's troubled model yesterday!"
18. More to add ....
Facts About Boeing 737 Max, Not Speculations - Part 3
ReplyDelete18. News Break: Thr US President, Donald Trump, has just ordered that " ... flights by Boeing Co.'s 737 Max 8 and 9 aircraft be grounded effective immediately."
"Planes that are in the air will be grounded....upon landing at the destination. All airlines are agreeing to this."
"The safety of the American people and all people is our paramount concern." Trump announced at the White House.
"Hopefully they will very quickly come up with the answer but until they do the planes are grounded," he added.
19. The US's three airlines operate 6 x 737 Max 9 and 75 x Max 8, mostly flying within the Continental US and Central America.
20. Boeing's shares has tumbled on the news of President Trump's Directive to ground all Boeing's 737 Max aircraft.
21. The US has insisted that the black boxes of the crashed Ethiopian 737 Max aircraft be sent to USA for analysis. However, Ethiopia refused to do so. Instead, Ethiopia has arranged for Germany to help analyse the black boxes. Unexpectedly, at the last minute while the black boxes were on the way to Germany, the German Bureau of Aircraft Accident Investigation declined to accept the black boxes, saying that it lacked the necessary software.
Ethiopian spokesman Germout Freitag said on Wednesday that he doesn't know where the black boxes will be sent next. (To China?)
22. Michael Kreiger, from Liberty Blitzkrirg twitted:
"The black box response from Ethiopia says so much about where the world stands today. Nobody trusts the U.S. anymore, and for good reason. We are very clearly in the twilight moment of U.S. empire."
23. Canada's Transport Minister, Marc Gerneau, is grounding ALL Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft in Canada over safety concerns, based on new information received this morning (Wednesday). The move he said was based on newly available satellite tracking data that showed similarities to last year's crash of one if the planes (Indonesia's Lion Air's 737 Max-8 that crashed in Nov 2018).
24. After President Trump's direct order to ground all the Boeing 737 Max aircraft, the US Federal Aviation Administration now stands alone in the Whole World insisting the the aircraft is safe to fly. What a great joke of the century!
(Just wonder how much candies the Chief of FAA must have eaten?)
25. It has been circulating in the air that Boeing's Big Boss has personally spoken to President Trump not to ground the 737 Max. (He got played out?)
Boeing offered only US$1 million donation to Trump's Presidential Campaign for 2020. That must be an insult from one Billionaire to another. Trump not happy lah. Also politically the situation has become untenable. After Canada declared total ban on alm 737 Max, USA becomes isolated all alone. How can? Better be the last one to ban than become a laughing stock leh.

ReplyDeleteWhat goes down, must come up... If the companies which stocks you have don't go bust, when the share price drops, buy some more, or as Warren Buffet puts it: "Get Greedy".
I have not been following the Hyflux saga...I don't know much about Singapore market. But even in times of "distress", there could be an opportunity for people who invest in "distressed companies" to buy in very very cheaply, turn it around, and make a very tasty profit.
I've heard something about their bonds being in the shitter. So that will be classified as "distressed debt", which a smart fella could buy at a steep discount. The original bond holders, won't backside-koyak so much if they can get back (say) 20 cents on the dollar...aiyah, something is better than nothing lah. 😂
But in the capitalist game, sorry, lah. Most of those fuckers who already lost money cannot recover anything.
The REAL evil is too big, too well-funded, too powerful government.

8th, bankrupt of respect for the Constitution and the Laws.
9th, bankrupt of real (not cursory, token) care for the citizens.
10th, bankrupt of popularity and mass support.
When it reaches the last stage, the 10th stage, that means the end is near.
What stage is Singapore in now?

The stages may overlap and not necessarily in that sequence. But the last two stages are certain.
Facts About Boeing 737 Max, Not Speculations - Part 4
ReplyDelete26. After President Trump's direct order to ground all Boeing's 737 Max, Boeing and the FAA have no choice but to follow suit. They also announced the temporary grounding of ALL Boeing's 737 Max series aircraft as a precaution, quoting new evidences collected from the crash site of Ethiopia's Airlines' 737 Max-8 and new refined satelite tracking images of the flight paths of both crashed aircraft. Both sets of evidences substantiated that the Ethiopian Airlines' plane crash on Sunday was very much similar to the Indonesian Lion Air's plane crash in Nov 2018.
27. A frantic and angry follow-up by airlines that have placed orders for the Boeing's 737 Max series has begun. Cancellation of orders amounting to $600 billion or more has sent Boeing into a state of disbelief and reckoning. How can the most popular aircraft become the most unwanted aircraft!
28. The fact is that the Boeing 737 Max has not one but FOUR serious flaws:
1) Angle Of Attack (AoA) sensor giving wrong feedbacks repeatedly, at least 100 times before the crash. (This means testing of the sensor was carried out haphazardly and irresponsibly, leaving things to chance instead of certainty.)
2) The Anti-Stalling System or the Maneuvering Characteristics Augmentation System (MCAS) that forced the plane's nose downwards, whenver the AoA sensor gives the wrong feedbacks. (This means automatic controls by machines can lead to disastrous results if manual controls cannot override them.)
3) There is a serious software problem that Boeing has promised to remedy by April 2019, after the Lion Air's plane crash in Nov 2018. (This means the Boeing's IT Team most probably could be fakes from 3rd world countries.)
4) The structural defect of the two extra huge engines located higher up the wings, causing balancing difficulty. (This means the whole plane has to be reconfigured and reconstructed.)
29. In lieu of the above, many questions now arise concerning the quality control and the extent of responsibility (irresponsiblility) of the Boeing management in producing a maximum passenger-killing machined in the name of an airworthy passenger plane in the world.
Amendment: Lion Air's crash was in Oct, not Nov.
ReplyDeleteFacts About Boeing 737 MAX Aircraft, Not Speculations
ReplyDeleteGaruda, the National carrier of Indonesia is the first airline in the world to officially cancel its order of 49 x Boeing's new 737 MAX-8 (fuel-saving large engine and narrow body) commercial jet aircraft.
Garuda's CEO, Ari Askhara, has sent a letter to the US Boeing Company officially conveying Garuda's intent to cancel the order with immediate effect.
This was revealed by Garuda's Chief Financial Officer, Fuad Rizal, today (Friday, 22 March 2019).
Garuda has ordered 50 x 737 Max-8 but so far only one such aircraft has been delivered and grounded.
The order was valued at $6 billion at list price.
Rizal also said that negotiations with Boeing were ongoing and "Airbus SE jets were not under consideration."
The CEO of Garuda told Reuters on Friday that customers had lost trust in the 737 MAX 8.
Indonesia's Lion Air, since one of its Boeing 737 MAX jets crashed on 28 October last year, has grounded all its other six 737 MAX-8 aircraft. It is now considering cancelling its remaining orders of Boeing 737 MAX-8 aircraft.
What Next, Boeing 737 MAX? - Part 1
ReplyDeleteAs internal and external pressures mount to hold Boeing responsible for its criminal negligence, the giant company is exerting its immense influence to limit both its past and future accountability.
Boeing whistleblowers and outside aviation safety experts are coming forward to reveal the serial, criminal negligence of Boeing’s handling of its dangerous Boeing 737 Max airplanes, grounded in the aftermath of two deadly crashes that took 346 lives. Boeing, is used to having its way in Washington, D.C. For decades, Boeing and some of its airline allies have greased the wheels for chronic inaction related to the additional protection and comfort of airline passengers and airline workers.
Most notoriously, the airlines, after the hijacks to Cuba in the late Sixties and early Seventies, made sure that Congress and the FAA did not require hardened cockpit doors and stronger latches on all aircraft, costing a modest $3000 per plane. Then the 9/11 massacre happened, a grisly consequence of non-regulation, pushed by right wing corporatist advocacy centers.
Year after year, Flyers Rights – the airline passenger consumer group –proposed a real passengers bill of rights. Year after year the industry’s toadies in Congress said no. A slim version passed last year — requiring regulations creating minimum seat standards, regulations regarding prompt refunds for ancillary services not provided or on a flight not taken, and a variety of small improvements for consumers.
Boeing is all over Capitol Hill. They have 100 full time lobbyists in Washington, D.C. Over 300 members of Congress regularly take campaign cash from Boeing. The airlines lather the politicians with complimentary ticket upgrades, amenities, waivers of fees for reservation changes, priority boarding, and VIP escorts. Twice, we sent surveys about these special freebies to every member of Congress with not a single response.
737 MAX-8 Crashes - Boeing And The FAA Under Criminal Investigation
ReplyDeleteDetails about the federal criminal investigation into the FAA's certification process for the Boeing 737 MAX 8 leaked Friday night, appearing in the Wall Street Journal - a news organization that has consistently lead coverage of the investigation, alongside the New York Times and Seattle Times.
According to the latest report, prosecutors are focusing on whether Boeing withheld crucial information from regulators - regulators who, as the NYT reported earlier this month, had delegated much of the approval process to internal units of the Boeing Company.
The Wall Street Journal reported about the criminal probe, which began late last year after a Boeing 737 Max owned by Indonesia's Lion Air suddenly plunged into the Java Sea a few minutes after takeoff, killing everyone on board, no survivals.
The probe has intensified since Ethiopia Airlines flight ET302 crashed under similarly mysterious circumstances just six minutes after takeoff, also killing everyone on board, no survivals.
In the intervening weeks, questions about the plane's new anti-stall system, known as MCAS, which was unique to the 737 Max, having been added to compensate for changes in the plane's faulty design (the two engines are too big for the slim body and the wings, causing balancing problems due to loss of aero-dynamic performance).
"Federal investigators are looking into whether Boeing provided incomplete or misleading information about the 737 MAX aircraft to U.S. air-safety regulators and customers, people familiar with the matter said.
The focus on disclosures to regulators, which hasn’t been previously reported, is part of a broader investigation into how the jetliner was developed and certified, some of these people said.
The criminal investigation, which is in early stages, began last year, weeks after a 737 MAX operated by Lion Air crashed in Indonesia on Oct. 29, according to one of these people. The same model plane, flown by Ethiopian Airlines, crashed less than five months later.
Agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Transportation Department’s inspector general’s office are working in tandem under the direction of federal prosecutors, the people familiar with the matter said. The agents involved are from offices in Seattle, Chicago and elsewhere, these people added. Boeing is based in Chicago but manufactures the 737 MAX at its facility in Renton, Wash., near Seattle."
We Expected Airplanes To Be Safe. Boeing Undermined Everybody's Expectation - Part 1
ReplyDeleteBoeing is doing crisis management all wrong, and need to restore the public’s trust, says University of Oregon's Kelli Matthews.
In a crisis, time is not on your side.
A crisis creates a vacuum, an informational void that gets filled one way or another. The longer a company or other organisation at the centre of the crisis waits to communicate, the more likely that void will be filled by critics.
That’s exactly what’s happening to Boeing.
On Mar 10, Ethiopian Airlines flight ET302 crashed outside Addis Ababa shortly after takeoff, killing all 157 passengers on board. This was the second Boeing 737 Max to crash in fewer than four months, putting the total death toll at almost 350 people.
I’ve been both a manager and teacher of crisis communications for more than a decade. One thing I know for sure is that in crises in which there’s loss of life, it’s important to be compassionate, empathetic and careful.
However, in the two days after the Ethiopian Air crash, Boeing made crisis communications missteps that may have a long-term effect on its reputation and credibility.
TOO LITTLE, TOO LATE
The key problem with Boeing’s approach is that its response was initially too defensive, slow and passive, suggesting a lack of openness and accountability.
For two days, Boeing CEO Dennis Muilenburg insisted the 737 Max planes were safe, even as country after country grounded the aircraft. Then on Mar 13 when the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) eventually followed suit, Boeing again maintained that its planes were safe.
But other than these statements and two tweets from Muilenburg, Boeing’s leadership has been silent.
As a result, Boeing has found itself playing defence to a storyline that suggests the company was more interested in profits than people in the rush to produce an aircraft that accounts for about a third of its revenue.
That narrative is being pushed by other airlines, media, employees and airplane safety advocates like Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger.

We Expected Airplanes To Be Safe. Boeing Undermined Everybody's Expectation - Part 2
ReplyDeleteBEING PROACTIVE
Boeing could have adopted a proactive approach, such as by taking the initiative to ground its own planes.
Instead, Boeing hesitated, wasn’t transparent and didn’t shoulder any responsibility for what had happened, leaving it to airlines, countries and regulators to ground the 737 Max.
According to crisis communications scholar Timothy Coombs, corporate openness is defined by a company’s availability to the media, willingness to disclose information and honesty. Boeing failed in all three regards.
And the few statements it has issued are chock-full of platitudes – such as “safety is a core value” – and lack meaningful information. In its statement after the FAA grounded the 737 Max, Boeing suggested it was complying “out of an abundance of caution.” But Boeing didn’t have a choice. The decision was made.
Boeing is now on the defensive and, going forward, will have to counter the damaging narrative circulating in the court of public opinion. It has its work cut out for it. Research shows that people are quick to believe the worst about organisations, which feeds negative speculation.
TURBULENCE AHEAD
The challenge Boeing faces is serious.
Many of its planes continue to be grounded, which could cost Boeing as much as US$5 billion, according to early estimates. Boeing has paused delivery on the 737 Max and orders for future planes are at risk – it recently received its first public cancellation. The company has about 4,500 of the airplanes on order.
Boeing does have one thing in its favour. The company has built strong relationships with government officials in Washington over the years.
But those relationships, which could be useful and shield the company to some degree, are now under stress as Congress and the Justice Department investigate how Boeing got the 737 Max certified to fly.
TURNING THINGS AROUND
So is it too late to turn things around? I believe it isn’t, but Boeing must immediately change its strategy from passive and closed to active and open.
Rather than wait for lawmakers or investigators to get to the bottom of things, which could be devastating for Boeing, the airplane manufacturer should collect all the relevant information and disclose as much as possible, however damaging.
Boeing should be able to answer questions like what happened, who is responsible and why did it happen. The best way to demonstrate its commitment to safety is not with platitudes but concrete actions that reveal openness and accountability. Research has shown that transparency and honesty are key to effective communication in a crisis.
CONCLUSION
Ultimately, Boeing must show that the lives of passengers on its planes are more important than profits or its reputation. And in the long run, doing so will help it recover and regain the trust that’s been lost already.
We all expect airplanes to be safe. Boeing has violated that undeniable unwritten expectation.
The decision about whether and when the 737 Max is back in the air – and how much this will ultimately cost Boeing – will be made by airlines, regulators and legislators. And, in turn, they will listen to their customers and constituents whose confidence has been shaken and trust seriously undermined.
If the Court of Public Opinion finds Boeing guilty of putting their lives and their families’ lives at huge risk, those decision-makers will find it hard to support the company.
