‘S$2 million grant launched to support ground up efforts to support
recycling, cut waste. “Through the ‘Towards Zero Waster Grant’, we hope
to support ground up initiatives from the people, public and private
sectors that will rally the community…” Today paper
Reading this and the first thought came to mind is the billions of
dollars being put to waste annually in the most wasteful control of car
population scheme, ie scrapping good working condition cars of 10 years
old or lesser and turning them in scrap metal and junk. If only someone
is conscientious enough to work out a comprehensive scheme to re export
all the cars scrapped due to expired COEs, these cars can be still be
useful for at least another 10 years on the road and also recover the
tremendous loss in value of these cars to their owners. Imagine a
handsome car in working condition being scrapped and treated as scrap
metal for $200 or less!
And they are all crying so loudly about saving a few tin cans and a few
plastic bags! What nonsensical minds at work? Zero waste in saving a few
pennies and wasting hundreds of thousands of dollars, millions and
billions.
There is another major area of humongous waste, ie enbloc sales of
fairly new and younger housing estates, pulled down prematurely to
rebuild higher and higher flats to churn money. How wasteful is this
exercise?
And the tremendous among of food, good food, quality food, that would go
to waste daily at the end of a business day. All this good food can be
organized and delivered to the homes instead of being dumped into waste
bins or picked up piece meal by some volunteers. The collection of such
good food can be institutionalized and be a great savings for the homes
or to feed many oldies in citizens corners for free. Why allow this
waste to go on and on and crying out loud about zero waste here and
there in meaningless and little return programmes?
Is this exercise real or just gimmicks to make some people looking busy and working real hard?
It's for some people to look busy lar
ReplyDeleteNo forget they splash $16 million on Kim-Trump summit and around $387 million on Youth Olympics (YOG).
ReplyDeleteKNN, chucked $387 million for Youth Olympics.
ReplyDeleteKNN, chucked $16 million or more to Kim-Trump Summit.
KNN, for "Towards Zero Waste" give a super miserly $2 million.
Think the public is stupid? KNN.
Need to so do mi or not, you all tell me lah. KNN.
An MP here paid more than USA president.
ReplyDeleteThats the biggest waste.
But 70% happy. The 30% not happy ones already migrate to another cuntry, live in big house, drive nice cars and semi retired. Everyone happy. Win Win.
It's like the Army's Safety Standards - Zero Accident.
ReplyDeleteIn the end, 1 human actor died just last week...there goes that Zero Accident slogan..nothing improve but lip service & no action at all. In fact all the top people go away Scot free and ni responsibilities accountability cos it's the people tat vote these buggers into politics therefore it's the people fault?..

ReplyDeleteWorld is full of hypocrites ......
ReplyDelete@ RB
ReplyDelete>> Is this exercise real or just gimmicks to make some people looking busy and working real hard? <<
Yes, it is a gimmick and not based in science nor math. "Recycling" requires resources. When you do the numbers, it actually costs more to recycle because of energy and logistic inputs.
For certain things like aluminium, precious metals, it makes sense to recycle, or in the case of gold and silver from discarded electronics: recover.
Other than that, recycling programs are a waste of resources and add to ENLARGING the carbon footprint. However "true believers" will always surrender to their "religion". In the words of comedian Ron White You can Fix Fat, You Can Fix Ugly...But You Can't Fix Stupid
They pay themselves such sinful salaries and bonuses they have to appear busy, conscientious and full of ideas.
ReplyDeleteHahaha...
ReplyDeleteSg is like that lah.
Today's problems are because of the 70%!
Unless the 70% wake-up, otherwise it is gg to be sama Sama.
At most just kpkb kpkb and kpkb!
Able to change the 70%?.....vvv difficult!
Correct?
See all your Recycle Bins in your estates with different colours for different waste.
ReplyDeleteSee unkos, aunties, ah shos, Ah umms and even the Highly ELECTROCUTED Millinenials dumped their waste into the bins.
All trying to be environment conscious and friendly.
When the Waste Collection trucks came rumbling and lift the Bins into theit trucks -ALL into ONE.
Separation of different waste for recycling? All HOGawasI
Bunch of idiots including my Electrocuted Children painstainly packed into different bags and dumped into respective compartments.
In Japan, they packed and lay the
different waste into different bags and they put them into the collection trucks in different compartments.
Another laughable joke by the S.Koreans.
Wah,so environment conscious that the restaurant helpers told me that even their tooth pricks are dissolved by themselves when after use and discarded.
I told them what's the use when you have your Military practically every day having Military exercises with the Americunts firing tons of bombs harming the environment.
All these Save the Environment hypocrites are just HOGWASH.
A

PAP controls everything lah. Even your brain. To the victor, go the spoils of war!
ReplyDeleteSchools in the UK will no longer be punished for failing to meet the government’s standards in national exams or tests, This is part of a new strategy to attract and retain teachers in the profession.
ReplyDeleteThe proposal means schools will not be defined as failing or “coasting” based on results of national tests or GCSE exams, removing a burden of assessment that has been criticised for unfairly hitting schools with challenging pupil intakes.
Instead, only inspection results are to be used in future as a trigger for intervention in schools such as a change in management – a decision welcomed by school leaders as removing the assessment double jeopardy that many faced for a very long time.
“Floor and coasting standards added unnecessary stress and uncertainty without ever helping the process of school improvement.
School leaders will be pleased to see the back of them,” said Paul Whiteman, general secretary of the National Association of Head Teachers, which has long campaigned against them.
A 47-YR OLD RETIRED SINKIE'S CPF STATEMENT
ReplyDeleteEVERY MONTH LOG INTO CPF FEEL SO SHIOK!!! LOL!!!
A 67 Year-Young Retired MP and ex-Mini$ter:
ReplyDelete"Every month see my CPF statement. Damn Siok Ah!"
"Thank you PAP and my Paymaster - the Big Boss."
"... So nice to be a PAP stooge, ooppz, I mean servent. Well rewarded.
"... No soul? Sold for money already mah. Got plenty money. Never mind lah!"
"... Care for people? Of course I care for my people. You know what I mean? My family people lah, stupid!".
Minister and ex-minister definitely AT LEAST $3M in CPF.
ReplyDeleteThat 47-yr old Sinkie with $845K is definitely not elite, haha!
BTW he retired at 42/43 with last drawn monthly pay of $7000.
The way they tore up pavements and courtyards and resurfacing them under the 'remaking the neighbourhood' is really a senseless waste of resources. To me this must be a way of trying to revitalise the economy with unnecessary construction activity that seems to be endless nowadays in Sinkieland.
ReplyDeleteThe construction of sheltered walkways is going on like crazy all over the island. No wonder Sinkies now cannot tolerate a little sun or rain. Very soon the Military must build sheltered walkways to wherever our soldiers are going to war, to provide them with shelter too!
As RB said, the waste before us is staggering and is not the small things that household throws away like plastic bags or leftover food, but big and expensive items like cars that are in perfectly good working condition. Or the beautiful showcases and designer furnitures smashed to smithereens when people are lured into upgrading homes or shops several times in life in Sinkieland.
Talking about zero waste is a big fat dream of the little Red Dot. While consumers are asked to use less plastic bags and papers by going paperless, big and small companies are printing thicker and thicker brochures that are given to homes all over the island. The small consumer has to sacrifice for the fat pigs of business and they call that saving the earth. My big foot!
A Minotaur's basic (the minimum amount that will entice him not to become corrupt) salary plus anal annual non-accomplishment loyalty) bonuses (windfall) are estimated at $3 million, conservatively.
ReplyDeleteAt 37% (employer/government 17%, self 20%) CPF contribution rate, his annual savings amount to $1,110,000.
Multiply by 15 years of service as a Minotaur = $16,650,000 in his CPF accounts (excluding other years of service in the private or public sector prior to becoming a Minotaur).
With 4% interest, CPF Board pays him $660,000 (4/100 x 16,650,000) per annum.
He draws a pension of 1/500 x last drawn monthly pay x number of months served. That means he gets $90,000 per month or $1,080,000 per year for doing nothing, for the rest of his life.
In total he gets paid $1,740,000 ($660,000 + $1,080,000) every year until he dies.
He may also still hold positions as Director or Consultant of various government or semi-government organizations, which pays him a monthly salary/allowance.
He could also still draws an MP's monthly allowance, or pension, over and above his $1,740,000 Minotaur pension and CPF interests payment.
All this while not touching any cent from the total amount of his CPF contributions in the CPF accounts.
With that kind of easy money, who want to step down or retire from political cum government positions?
Die die also must hang onto the Golden Pot, right?
Serving the people or serving own bank accounts? You be the judge.
How Many Times Must MOH Be Allowed To Cocked-Up Again Before The Minister Takes Responsibility?
ReplyDeleteAccording to the Ministry of Health (MOH), a U.S citizen Mikhy K Farrera Brochez is currently in possession of confidential medical records of thousands of HIV patients' data and information.
The records belong to 5,400 Singaporeans diagnosed with HIV up to January 2013, as well as 8,800 foreigners diagnosed up to 2011.
The information included their name, identification number, contact details (phone number and address), HIV test results and related medical information.
Additionally, the name, identification number, phone number and address of 2,400 individuals culled from contact tracing up to May 2007 were also stolen.
According to MOH, there’s a possibility that Brochez might disclose the information again in future as he is still in possession of it.
MOH is currently working with the relevant authorities to scan the internet for further signs of disclosure.
Brochez was remanded in prison in 2016 for numerous fraud and drug-related offences.
After serving his sentence, Brochez was deported from Singapore. He is currently outside of Singapore (thanks to Singapore authorities for helping him escape from arrest).
Brochez’s partner is Dr. Ler Teck Siang, ex-Head of MOH’s National Public Health Unit (NPHU).
Dr Ler had access to the HIV Registry for his work. He was charged in 2016 for abetting Brochez in his cheating and for offences under the Penal Code and the Official Secrets Act (OSA).
Dr Ler was convicted in September 2018 and sentenced to 24 months’ imprisonment. He has appealed and his appeal will be heard in March 2019.
MOH said that this matter arose out of Dr Ler’s mishandling of confidential information.
It said the police has enlisted the help of its foreign counterparts to handle the situation.
MOH urged members of the public not to circulate the information if they come across it online. (Why? MOH can get sued?)
You can read the rest of the Ministry’s press release at MOH Website.
Instead of Zero Tolerance of Waste, there should be a policy of Zero Tolerance of Leakage of Patients' Medical Confidential Data and/or information.
ReplyDeleteFor each leakage of one single person's medical records, confidential or sensitive or not, that person must be compensated with $2 million by the Ministry or Organization concerned.
Singaporeans Are DAFT From Top Down?
ReplyDeleteMikhy Brochez is an American, who posed as a child psychologist, fooled Temasek Polytechnic, the Government and the local press for nearly a decade using forged educational certificates, fake claims that he is a child prodigy who is the son of a renowned psychologist, and the blood of his doctor boyfriend in order to cheat the authorities from finding out that he is HIV-positive.
Aware of local laws that ban foreigners with HIV from working in Singapore, Brochez enlisted the help of his boyfriend, medical doctor Ler Teck Siang, whom he had met online. Dr Ler put his own blood taken from his arm into a test-tube and labelled the blood sample with his boyfriend’s name.
When the blood sample came back negative for HIV, Brochez successfully received an employment pass from the Ministry of Manpower in 2008. The con worked so well, that Dr Ler and Brochez replicated the trick in 2013 and the foreigner received a personalised employment pass from the Government.
Using his employment pass, forged educational qualifications and fake claims that he is a child prodigy who entered the prestigious Princeton University at the age of 13, Brochez proceeded to trick Temasek Polytechnic into offering him a job in 2008.
Over the next eight years, from 2008 to 2016, Brochez ‘impressed’ Temasek Polytechnic so much that the organisation allowed him to set up a Child Psychology Clinic within its campus and allowed him to provide consultancy and assessment services there.
In an interview he gave the local press in 2010, Brochez – who flaunted the fake qualifications “APA, APS, MCollT, MS DPSY, DipED” – boasted that he learned to speak, read and write fluent Hebrew, Spanish and English by the age of three.
He added that his mother, a supposedly “renowned professor of child and adolescent psychology, child neurology and gifted science and mathematics education in the UK” named Dr Teresa King, trained him.
Brochez told the press, “I didn’t know I was a gifted child initially,” before bragging that he was a “laboratory rat” of his mother who tested “many of her theories on gifted education” on him.
Attributing his success to his mother’s encouragement, Brochez boasted that he soon became “the youngest registered psychologist in the history of the American Psychological Association.” He added: “My mother is a really big influence in my life. I would not have made it without all her help and guidance.”
The efforts of The Independent UK to locate this “renowned” Dr Teresa King yielded no results and show that this claim too, like the many tall tales Brochez used to trick the local authorities, may be false.
Evil US Empire has filed a host of criminal charges against Chinese telecoms giant Huawei and its chief financial officer, Meng Wanzhou.
ReplyDeleteAmong the charges are accusations of bank and wire fraud, obstruction of justice and theft of technology from US company T Mobile.
Sabrina Meng was kidnapped and illegally detained by Canada last month, acting as a US stooge to politically intimidate Huawei and China, on Trump-up charges.
The case has badly strained relations between China, Canada and the US.
Both Ms Meng and Huawei deny the allegations totally. They are politically motivated by both Cabada PM and US President.
China should follow the US by enacting laws to arrest US companies and personnel that / who sell/provide weapons, ammunition, explosives, etc or give financial and other assistance to Taiwan, Hongkong, Tibet, Xinjang Urghers and any other countries that are on China"s Sanction Lists.
ReplyDeleteAll can play the same dirty game.
