Asean Meeting is about angkat Mahathir

The recent Asean Meeting with the big powers is about praising Mahathir and carrying his balls. The rest are just side shows, irrelevant.
Read this as posted in theindependent website and it tells succinctly what the whole meeting was all about.

'This past Monday, Dr Mahathir and his wife Dr Siti Hasmah arrived in Singapore for a 2-day official visit, at the invitation of Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. Besides meeting PM Lee and his wife Ho Ching, President Halimah Yaacob and Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong, Dr Mahathir and his wife also had an orchid named after them.

One of the highlights of the official visit was NUS’ conferral of honorary doctorates to Dr Mahathir and Dr Siti Hasmah. Dr Mahathir studied medicine at NUS in Singapore for about six years in his younger days. NUS is his wife’s alma mater, as well.'

I dunno who is the silly bugger that formulated this angkat Mahathir exercise and dunno what they want to achieve. And they think Mahathir is so easy to angkat, to flatter and taken in and to appreciate and reciprocate kindness with kindness? This shows how shallow and lack of understanding of who Mahathir is. Mahathir is a willy old fox with very set mindset on what he wants to do and nothing is going to change him once he decided.  He will demand his price for his water, build his third national car and to build his crooked bridge come what may.

To me, the easiest way to deal with Mahathir is time, playing with time. Time is something that is against Mahathir. The max he has is less than 2 years before passing the premiership to Anwar. And in all likelihood he may be called to his maker anytime, today or tomorrow or the day after. Just play with him, negotiate with him, talk to him until the cow comes home, but not agreeing politely, postpone, delay, will check with the boss, will call back. Set the next meeting as long as one possibly can, needs time to study the details, to check the legal and political implications etc etc. Just wait for him to go.

The angkat Mahathir exercise is so amateurish and Mahathir must be laughing himself insane. How these boys are trying to please him, to make him happy, make him feel big and important is incredible.

This is so unbelieveable, so childish in diplomacy. A little flattery may be tolerable and amusing, but over doing it is something else.

What do you think Mahathir would be thinking? What do you think the Malaysians would be thinking? What do you think Singaporeans would be thinking?

Punch above our weight or go down on bended knees?

  1. Better play with time lar as he is already 93. Plus only 2 years before handing over. Actually only 18 months left. Very silly to me too to carry his balls this way. 😀

PM Lee and his ministers were so patronising and sucking up to Dr M that they practically grovel at his feet. Dr M and his wife were feted like royalty. A red carpet welcome wasn't even enough. Dr M must be laughing to himself how obsequious Singapore has become. The country is at Malaysia's mercy. Their water is badly needed. As Singapore's population rises, the demand for more water increases exponentially. For long term survival, Singapore needs Malaysia as its hinterland and to be connected to China's BRI. The kowtowing to Dr M may be an exercise in futility as Dr M is no fool.

  4. I totally agree with Titiana Ann Xavier comments. I just want to add that if they want to make a fool of themselves in a demeaning manner without any self respect or dignity they may continue to do so. But Singapore and Singaporeans image is also tainted and that is very unpleasant. They are just political clowns and buffoons who only know how to bully Singaporeans and taking a lot of money from indefensive hard working Singaporeans base on illogical logics and lies.

Shameless clowns and buffoonsmust be shown the gate out.

  5. @ all

I have a different take on this. I think it is Mahathir who's being "played".

What our clever govt is doing is straight out of the playbook of behavioral psychologist Robert Cialdini. You'll find his videos on YouTube.

Cialdini's work involves the science behind and the application of methods for INFLUENCING others to do your bidding or align themselves with your thinking so as to influence them, your way.

There are principles based on empirical data and experiments, which work. Cialdini's work is ongoing, and many other researchers are also on the same track. We can all agree that getting INFLUENCE down to a science can be a very powerful tool set to have, especially for those in govt or politics.

Look up Cialdini's work and you'll see that our crafty govt is playing "The Game" like champions.

  6. HaHa! they pay three cents per thousand litres of water. How much do they charge Singaporeans? A dollar, two dollars, three dollars or five dollars. It's so atrocious and insensible. On top you pay extra thirty percent more now plus tax on tax. What do you think they are doing? To grow GDP and legitimise their astronomical high sinful salary at the expense of the blood and sweat of the working class citizens.

    Angry exploited citizen

  7. To solve the water problem, restore the residential population levels back to pre-2004 below 4.0 million.

    It's common sense.

The water problem was exacerbated by Loong's pro-foreigner policy when he brought into tiny Singapore an extra 2 million foreigners to use up our scarce water supply.

  8. @ Nation Building

One of the "nation building" projects akan datang will be aimed at Singapore's water security. IMO, within 20-30 years, we'll be self sufficient wrt fresh water. Some form of New Water ver. 2,3,4...etc will probably be developed, plus a whole lot of new tech, recycling, capture and conservation... enough water for around 9 million souls.

Water issues are going to be seriously dealt with by every cuntry; China and India might even go to war over it. The northern plain of China is on the way to being fucked up, and that's serious because that's where the FOOD is grown.

So if the Singapore braintrust can develop water tech (and I personally know people working hard on the field), that could be BIG BUX for the successful inventors/entrepreneurs.

  10. All these Elite lntellectuals endowed their Degrees on one another and cheapened the True Status of these degrees that they slotted so hard to earn them.

    Even awarded in Sinkieland
Doctorates to Hair Dressers and Massage Beauty Saloons.

Just because they had a chain of Good To See but Horrible to Eat Outleus

Wonder they revoke their Doctorates when they go bust.???

Even Papers for Monies Insurance Agents also conferred Doctorates.

A hair dresser went to London and took a London Train just for one trip and come back with a London Trained degree and later if hava a chain of five hundred bucks per cut shops will also be conferred a Doctorate.

The FI've Huneed $$$$$ four by two haircut can get from
    BMT for $2.50.

That's how sinkies loved to pay for Prestige.

Thinking that they had arrived by paying one thousand or five thousand time more than their poorer coysins Mats and have them
Laughing till their teeth become kelong with gaps that catches no fish.

  11. "What do you think Mahathir would be thinking?"

    Possible Answer:

Mahathir will not be thinking much. He will leave all the hard-thinking to Anwar Ibrahim. In the mean time, he will be thinking how to make his son take over the control of UMNO, and how to remove all the threats to his son's future.

"What do you think the Malaysians would be thinking?"

    Possible Answer:

Most Malaysians, except those stealing Singaporeans' jobs and sucking up to the Singapore Government for one reason oe other, will be thinking that "Malaysia Boleh, Singapore Bodek!"

"What do you think Singaporeans would be thinking?"

    Possible Answer:

Singaporeans cannot think. They leave all the thinking to the World Highest-Paid Get-Rich-Quick Multi-Millionaire Ministers, who happens to believe that without being paid by to millions of dollars of taxpayers' hard-earned money, they have no dignity when speaking to foreign leaders and dignitaries, but however when really confronted with foreign leaders and dignitaries, they stoop so low that dignity has gone to the dogs.

A big bully came to town
He was warmly greeted by a clown
The clown pursued and sought appeasement
    Much to Dr M's merriment
An honorary title NUS compelled to confer
But not every Singaporean would concur
For 2 days Dr M reigned supreme
Causing citizens to clench teeth and cringe
Dr M came, saw and conquered
While the masses were cheated and humiliated

Yah man, you don't say! I know several women (horny boleh-tahan lau sui tai tai type) who willingly and regularly blow $400 and more on their hair from some hip Ah Kwa Orchard Road salon.

"Qualification" or "degree" inflation is a global problem, thanks in part to publicly funded education systems. That's to be expected: when the govts of the world throw shit-tons of money at education, that attracts all sorts of "entrepreneurs" offering all manner of courses, so now everyone can be "certified" or "qualified" at something. Kanninah, in Australia, if you want a cleaning job, you have to go for course and get "certification". WTF?? Because "accreditation" is so in-demand, edu institutions have grown and so has the cost of education...which is a result of special-interest funding, aka "crony capitalism" in the educational-services industries.

Now educational qualifications have been "diluted"...you have bloody goondus getting PhDs lah. Higher-education used to be something special---something families planned for and saved for. Now any bloody idiot can get a degree, masters or PhD. But please, don't take my word for it...consider me an angry old fool who knows sweet fuck-all...instead...go out into the world and do your own observation, and arrive at your own conclusion lah.

  14. Mahathir likes people to embrace mahathirism. He know how to play the game very well with racialism.

He feels big and swollen headed, like Trump, when people praise him. He is vindictive to a fault, like our old man, when people cross him or step on his toes.

I agree that the best way to deal with him is play for time.

Dr M's visit to S'pore is no coincidence. In 18 months' time, there is likely to be a political power shake-up in both countries. Dr M hopes to leave his political foot-prints behind for posterity. An agreement to increase the price of water or the construction of a crooked bridge will be hailed as a crowning success. This is the legacy Dr M yearns in order to achieve immortality. Conversely, PM Lee will fade into obscurity.
