GE 2020 - Election of Estate Managers

The AHTC trial clearly demonstrate how important is the role of Estate Managers to the MPs than attending Parliament to debate about govt policies and matters of the state and interests of the people. Maybe the often absence of MPs when Parliament was in session is enough clues and hints to say that they must be very busy running their town councils and taking care of the estates instead of wasting time in Parliament.

MPs would not be sued for not attending Parliament. The most got scolding from the Speakers or be barred from attending a few sessions of Parliament. If they failed in their duties as Estate Managers, then it would be a very different story, can be bankrupted.

The term MP, meaning Members of Parliament may need to be changed and they should be given a new job description with estate management as their primary duty and attending Parliament as members of Parliament a secondary duty. It is a misnomer to call an elected representative a Member of Parliament, MP, if his main duties are estate management, making sure the dustbins are cleared, the roads are clean, people pay their dues for cleaning the estate. How about calling them Estate Managers? Or if it is important to retain the word MP, just add a E behind, eg MPE, Manager of Public Estate?

Whether the name be changed, the opposition party hopefuls would now be very clear as to what their primary jobs would be when elected, yes, concentrate full time to be an Estate Manager.

Now is this not queer? Do the people need to go to the vote to elect Estate Managers? Must MPEs attend courses in estate management to prepare themselves for the job? If they don't have such experience and did not know how to set up a team quickly to manage an estate, they will be in big big trouble. No one would want to be in the shoe of the WP MPs.

Looks like the General Election for political office needs a new definition and the people going to stand for election should be a different kind of people with different skill sets. Civil servants and ex civil servants would be most qualified for this job.

What do you think?

  1. Call them ESM = Estate Specialist Managers. The title given to Goh Chok Tong is very appropriate.

  2. What is the meaning of Members of Parliament?
This is like changing the constitution without changing the constitution.

  3. Estate Managers are usually ex HDB ex Maintanance Inspectors and now what's Techinical Officers when they are seconded to their Papies TCs or when retired or chia Kia kee applied to be Estate Managers in TCs or Private Estates of Condos etc.

These are just Routine 20 x 1 or even 1/2 years of jobs experiences.

After one year or half year of learning on the jobs and they claimed 20 or 30 years experience of one or half year experience of the jobs.

MPs that are habitually absent from Parliament are not kept busy with these small insignificant duties but their other money making business besides their 16 to 20 K meagre allowance.

Ex EOs and MIs and TOs plus other Evil Serpents of other Agencies plus their Silver Serpants of their Grassrots menbers loved to
to be taking part in the Routine Management of the TCs.

Their main excuse : Meeting with their Esteemed MP on TC matters.

Their main rendenzous by themselves either at coffeeshops or bringing their children home from Child Care or Kindergarten.

No one dares to question them as they have mentioned their MPs big names. So one month just one or two weeks in their place of work and the Rest excuses with their MPs or theis free time.

Many TCs of PAPies were formed by their HDB Main office under different names.

These Ex officers loved their postings as lives are EASY.

  6. Why are we made to elect estate managers and not Members of Parliament?
Can you tell the difference in their roles?

We don't need a Parliament if the election is about electing estate managers.

See how daft we have become and still going along as if everything is alright.

Singapore Inc is a corporate state lah. I’ve argued several times to sack parliament and sell off the building to Far East, turn it into a hot night spot.

Parliament as we know it, just for show lah. Just go there play masak-masak, collect money, chiak buay liau. Next year, pay increase,

  9. Hi Redbean, Speed here. Have you not heard of " Multi-tasking "? It is good MPs take on extra duties. Over and above their duties as MPs, they are doing overtime to help run the TC. Cannot be a bad thing surely.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Asking MPs to be estate managers is a VERY BAD thing. Their primary duty must be about law making and checking on the govt, and helping the people with their problems. Not about cleaning dustbins and sweeping roads or paying utility bills.

The role of MPs in Parliament is a very important job. They must not be bogged down with mundane duties of running a stats board. These are the jobs of civil servants, paid civil servants, full time job.

The whole administrative system of the country, from day one, has been politically corrupted (motivated) by one who specialized in Leegalized Corruption for the purpose of PAP's survival and holding onto power forever. Not for the interests of the people but for the interests of those in power.

  12. This is Uniquely Singapore! A city of the daft starting right from the top of the food chain here. Don't you think it is daft to be reduced to running an estate when you are the MP? But then the rewards are beyond anyone's wildest dream.

  13. Hi Anon 9.38

You are right that the majority of the 70% dafts were scared of being sodomized by just a simple threat of being sodomised by an Evil Serpent under payroll they been voting them the last fifty years.

In conversation with most, they will with horror exclaimed Aiyo
Not so open and loud. After you kena marked or blacklisted then you know.

That's why they remained as chained or leased dogs.

    30% of Opposition voters comprises
Of at least a few hundred thousands unleashed dogs.

They have enough places to sotomee hundreds over thousands?

These are facts as related by my child hood ex HDB HMI.who had served 30 years and had been seconded to an ex-Minister MP in his TC whilst even being still under the HDB's payroll.

He said LG. That is Life Is Good.

Just ten days in HDB Estate Office and other days just opened mouth Minister so and so wants me to have meetings with the TC and off I go. Switched off.

You think the Minister chia pak boh sai pang took part in the nitty gritty mundane affairs of the TC???

Also, my block Representative of an ex Chairman RC grassrot every other day saw him fetch his two daughters home from kindgerten.

Wah so fsee, retired at age onit early 40s. Strolling up and down to RC office

Learnt that he Evil Silver serpent from a Pit Bull Dog's Ministry.

And his MP a Senior Minister of Law and Great Liar

Who dared to question him when he open his mouth and said RC affairs.

Now no more RC cha man every morning six o clock goes to work and his old mother fetch his daughters.

So, Papies TCs have the best of all worLDS.HDB officers and other Govt agencies officers still under their payroll to help their MPs.

Whereas they are at the Opposition Wards to monitor and make lives HELL for them.

  16. @ "why you not satisfy?"

Thru all the complaints, waling and whining about how Singapore is so fucked up because of the govt...no one ever says how fucking awesome the place is, and all the benefits of holding that precious pink IC.

A perfect world or cuntry has never existed, yet at every point in space-time, things are the way they are supposed to be. It's called reality---objective reality ( to the extent that we can see the world "objectively" and act accordingly)

Singapore conforms to certain realities about it, but yet, this seems to be "unacceptable" to many people who "wish for a better life" but waste way too much time bitching about the reality of what Singapore is.

By now, no one should be "surprised" by anything which goes on, especially if it comes from the govt. By now, all their "characteristics" are "priced into the market"---there is no "hidden" or "new" information which could give anyone an edge. The patterns are so reliable, you can make PREDICTIONS---very reasonable, low-risk predictions, and place your bets accordingly.

So easy lah. Govt so damn predictable! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

  17. It is not that this place is not awesome. It is iron fist. Who say that? Since iron fist, why is there 6 smoke bomb theory? Why my dad sleep void deck? I fall sick in army ownself pay. Old people go hospital with bruises. People ask the old people alone who beat her when young people not around, still say will help call police. Still ask young people and give those face. But their own nurse plug something, cannot urine, tell them dont believe, until replug than can urine, can young people call police for the old people?

    ReplyDelete
  20. @ 801

I think UG is not having a good time. It is easy to cherry-pick the good or the bad to "support" your world-view. Singapore is not perfect, no place on the planet is.

However, if you do the analysis properly, Singapore...ain't so bad. You have a shot---more than a shot---of making your life better. More so than many places on the earth; definitely more so than most Asian cuntries. People from China, India, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia..and so on beat their paths to Singapore. Why do you think that is?

The short answer: a better life. A better shot at opportunities.

    ReplyDelete
  21. The opposition will never be able to understand what their primary jobs will be when elected. This is because it is up to the PAP to change the scope and nature of their job as an MP.

Moreover, finding contractors to tender for jobs in opposition wards are forever going to be arduous, because big contractors already doing jobs in PAP wards will shy away from taking jobs in opposition wards. They fear being discriminated against, same as people who voted for the opposition in wards not run by PAP.

Shifting goalpost, gerrymandering, vote buying through upgrading, discriminating against opposition voters are all the dirty tricks employed which Singaporeans know very well. That is why they have been able to maintain a consistent 70% mandate with all these practices, including the use of GRCs and the high deposits needed to field a complete team to stand in all the constituencies.

But the fear is that the mentality of Sinkies are already too entrenched in keeping the PAP in power and trying to change all that is now too little too late, with a fragmented opposition unable to unite.

That doesn't make sense. If Singaporeans know these tricks well, why are they voting these dirty buggers in, GE after GE?

Below good read as rec'd by Oppo Friends:-

    Chiam See Tong:

"But we cannot have united people if the Government discriminates against certain sections of the people. In a democratic country or society, we believe in free thought. We should be allowed to think as we like, whether we like the Opposition or the ruling party. But as it is, there is great discrimination from the first day I entered politics until today. At first, it was worse.

The ruling party threatened that anybody who supported the Opposition would get the facilities last. So if you stayed in a HDB flat, and if the lift gets spoiled and you get caught in it, you will be the last to be rescued, which is quite a frightening threat actually. I think the people should take it with a pinch of salt but, sometimes, such a threat can be quite frightening. With regard to transport, the MRT Station is built ready for use but the train shall not stop at the Opposition ward. Sir, I can remember those days very clearly.

Fortunately, for us, the train did stop at Potong Pasir. Believe it or not, I wanted to plant one tree, and it was refused. I had told the story many times but I think it is worthwhile telling once more. In those days, the PAP was generous enough to give me a walled-up empty office space at the void deck. The public got to know about it. The owner of a flower nursery donated one exotic plant to me, and I believed he also gave one each to Mr Goh Chok Tong and Dr Tony Tan.

Of course, I straightaway told him that I would be planting it in the constituency itself, and not take home to plant it. Like a dutiful MP, I wrote to the Minister, I said, "Can I plant one tree in my constituency?" He said, "No. The planting of trees in the constituency has been mapped out by the Parks and Trees Division." So I wrote to the Parks and Trees Division, "Can you please give me a map of the planting?" And they said they do not have such a plan. So I wrote to the Minister and I said they did not have such a plan.

And their reply was through the HDB which said, "You cannot plant a tree there because the soil does not suit that plant." I do not know how he said it was the soil. Did he make a test of the soil? Anyway, I stopped linking with him and I planted the tree in any event. Believe it or not, that same night, some hooligans came and pulled the tree out with the roots still intact and threw it in front of the office. I was really surprised.

It was a good tree, and the Chinese name is supposed to be the "seven sisters" tree because they have fruits like gingko nuts. I suppose there are seven of them in a bunch. That was the treatment I got but we still persisted. I planted it in a big pot and it started to fruit, and somebody must have thrown a bottle of bleach into the pot and, sad to say, the tree of course wilted.

I should have taken it home to plant it. Anyway, that is the story of the tree.Sir, how can we have unity in our people if the Government behaves in such a way?" - Mr Chiam See Tong.

  33. By Judy Tan:-

Dear Editors, As with all well-wishers who contributed to the three WP MP's fundraiser, we rejoice that civic consciousness has prevailed over the gloomy fact that we might lose our only dissenting voices in Parliament!

This kick starts a series of strong signals we will be sending to the PAP government, in the lead up to the next polls.Chan Chun Sing asked for ground sensing from his PA staffs and the result is both conclusive and consistent with prevailing sentiments on the ground echoed by ST's Han Hook Kwang:

"That we neither want a dominant nor worse still, a dominating PAP in Parliament which protects it's own interest and that of the civil service which is subservient to them.

If Chan Chun Sing truly wants to listen to the people, he need not look further than reading the numerous letters his PAP colleagues have been sending to the various agencies. My own MP has written several times to the CEO of Comfort Taxi who meritocratically happens to be a fellow PAP MP, only to be met with no responses.

On the other hand, if $600,000 is what the WP MPs need to tide through this crisis initially, then we'll do what it takes to deliver them that amount. If $100,000 is what Prof Wong Sook Yee requires to hold the government accountable for a by-election, then we'll assist her in the bid. Such is the political landscape post GE 2015 and post LKY!

We treasure the Fabric of the Nation and will jealously guard what our Founding Fathers left us, albeit through the Opposition as the PAP of today is no longer one we can entrust with that mission in the long run, especially after the Oxley Gate saga.

The lines of separation of powers has been blurred since then.If 30,000 members of megachurch New Creation can raise $280 million to build their Star Vista, I do not see how difficult it is for some 3.87 million of us to raise $33 million to Institutionalize the Opposition!

The impetus now lies on Tan Rajah & Cheah to waive as much legal fees as they can to match the goodwill of ordinary Singaporeans. In the meantime, it remains unclear who is footing the bill for Davinder Singh to persecute the WP MPs after both CAD and CPIB found no wrongdoing and if Town Councillors of PRPTC had done their due diligence in inquiring if such a course of action is what their residents truly desire?

Regardless of the outcome of the suit and who instigated it, the WP MPs have emerged victorious in the war of opinion and the Courts of the people will render their terrifying judgement accordingly at the ballot box. The removal of any democratically elected official can only be done via the box and not through the backdoor of appointed officers

    Cheers

  36. @ all

You, or an army of like-minded people like yourself, are never going to succeed in removing all the "evil" (no such thing) fom the world lah.

Humans have the propensity for doing both good and bad things. But behind EVERY human choice to action is a POSITIVE INTENT...even the brutal, murderous actions. Yes, there's a positive intent behind the most heinous acts of human depravity. Try wrapping your head around that!

For that reason (and a few also important ones) I've realised that always keeping my rational SELF INTERESTS in mind is a start to protect myself (as best I can) from the negative effects of other humans. I have NO CONTROL on their actions, but I can decide on mine. Evasive action taken PRE-EMPTIVELY I've realised is usually the best choice. What I want to avoid is DIRECT CONFRONTATION, which tends to be very expensive, risky and thus increases the chance of heavy losses, sometimes unrecoverable. (i.e. be able to defend yourself, but for fuck's sake don't start any trouble, avoid unneccesary conflict, and de-escalate any threatenting situation, and most importantly---the hardest thing---watch your EGO!)

Be selfish. Youcan thank me later...๐Ÿคก
