‘Our very own Wu Sangui (Silence of Goh Meng Seng) who wants us to
kowtow to Xi because China’s a peaceful nation doesn’t know his Chinese
history because he doesn’t know how China was created: by emperors who
waged war. And he was from a Chinese-language school?’
The above was written by Cynical Investor rubbishing Goh Meng Seng for
not knowing Chinese history, implying that China was not a peaceful
nation and also implying that the American and European Empires were
peaceful countries. OK he did not write this last part but from where he
is coming, China is or was a belligerent state compares to the USA and
other European countries. He ended by asking this,
‘Or he is a lackey of Xi?’
Shall I ask Cynical Investor is he an American or western lackey? Did
he know the history of the USA and the western colonialists? Did he know
how the Europeans massacred the native Americans by the tens of
millions to take over their land? Did he know that the then Europeans
continued to conquer and took over the land belonging to the Mexicans
and other natives to make what the USA is today? Did he know that the
Americans have been on a war path since the end of WW2, fighting wars
everyday, Korean War, Vietnam War, wars in Middle East, in Eastern
Europe, in Latin America, in Africa, in Central Asia? Did he know
anything about the British Empire, the Dutch Empire, the Spaniards,
Portugese, the French and the Germans and the Japanese Empires?
As for China, after the defeat by the British in the Opium War in 1840s,
China was a disintegrated country until 1949, a victim of Western
colonialism and Japanese Imperialism? And until today, modern China had
only engaged in three defensive wars, in the Korean War to drive the
Americans from the Yalu River to the 38th parallel, the 1962 Sino Indian
Border War after the Indians attacked Chinese border positions to seize
Chinese territories, and the border war with Vietnam to force the
Vietnamese to withdraw from Laos and Cambodia at the request of Asean
countries, especially Thailand.
Some idiots are digging out the thousand years of
Chinese history to condemn China as a warring state. How relevant was
this ancient history of China to modern China against the warmongering
Americans and Europeans today?
Shall I call Cynical Investors our very own modern day Japanese traitor
stirring hatred against modern day Chinese and China. Did he want the
Chinese to kowtow to the Americans and the Westerners? Agree? Did he
know Chinese history?
From the Yuan Dynasty, the Qing Dynasty, China was actually invaded and
conquered by the Mongols and the Manchus, ruled by these foreigners. The
fact that these foreigners eventually were assimilated by the Chinese
Civilisation did not make their aggression and invasion of other states
an act of Chinese aggression and expansionism.
China was a victim of invasion and occupation by hostile foreign forces,
not the aggressor that these ignoramus made China to be. From 1271, the
beginning of the Yuan Dynasty, the Chinese as a civilisation was never
an expansionist people, conquering and invading other countries. This is
about 800 years of Chinese history, and longer if the Song Dynasty was
included, that China and the Chinese Civilisation was not the
belligerent state that the stupid want to make it to be.
Many parts of Chinese territories and islands are still occupied by the invading foreigners till today.

India.” He chairs the Indian Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee.
Below are some of this comments in the book.
“History,” Winston Churchill said, “will be kind to me, for I intend to
write it myself.” He needn’t have bothered. He was one of the great mass
murderers of the 20th century, yet is the only one, unlike Hitler and
Stalin, to have escaped historical odium in the West. He has been
crowned with a Nobel Prize (for literature, no less), and now, an actor
portraying him (Gary Oldman) has been awarded an Oscar....
Dealing with unrest in Mesopotamia in 1921, as secretary of state for
the colonies, Churchill acted as a war criminal: “I am strongly in
favour of using poisoned gas against the uncivilised tribes; it would
spread a lively terror.” He ordered large-scale bombing of Mesopotamia,
with an entire village wiped out in 45 minutes.
In Afghanistan, Churchill declared that the Pashtuns “needed to
recognise the superiority of [the British] race” and that “all who
resist will be killed without quarter.” He wrote: “We proceeded
systematically, village by village, and we destroyed the houses, filled
up the wells, blew down the towers, cut down the great shady trees,
burned the crops and broke the reservoirs in punitive devastation. …
Every tribesman caught was speared or cut down at once.”....
Churchill’s beatification as an apostle of freedom seems all the more
preposterous given his 1941 declaration that the Atlantic Charter’s
principles would not apply to India and the colored colonies. He refused
to see people of color as entitled to the same rights as himself.
''
Churchill must be one of the greatest western heroes of Cynical
Investor. I only hope Cynical Investor is not Indian, but I am sure he
is a coloured person.

Hahahaha.
I believe China is or was a belligerent state as much as the Sinkie opposition is a strong and united opposition since 1965.
RB, what do you think of my above belief comparison?
At one time, the entire South East Asia was under the control and patronage of China. Even Australia and New Zealand were occupied by Chinese people in peaceful living with the aborigines, before Britain sent the convicts to slaughter and murder all of the three to four thousand Chinese together with many thousands of the aborigines.
ReplyDeleteI like Churchill, because he was fucking stoned and drunk ALL THE TIME when he made decisions to fuck up people en masse. That's the correct way to make decisions affecting and terminating the lives of people you don't even fucking know. THAT, is how you get in the history books. All the most famous leaders in history did it: Stalin, Lenin, Roosevelts (both of them), Lyndon Johnson, Mao, Hitler, Ghengis Khan, Alexander The Great...man you just have to kill lots and lots of folks to become famous...FOREVER. 🤓
ReplyDeleteI don't see any reason to have a problem with that. We are a warlike, tribal species. This is what we do!
The "love your brother" silly idea which people make a big deal about, only applies to members of your won tribe. If you love BMW, you hate those fuckers who drive Mercs; but you love your BMW bros. If you use Apple, fuck those PC and Android loser-wankers; but your fellow Apple owners are "family". If you Allah Akhbar your mind through the day, you should put time aside to kill infidels; but you break bread with your buddy murderers.
We are tribal. That shit ain't gonna change.
A note about the Nazis. History has cast the Nazis into a negative light, because of the cherry-picking of data. The "good qualities" of Nazism are not remembered. Here's my pick:
1. They were strictly anti-tobacco
2. They loved physical fitness and outdoor activities
3. Their fashion sense was impeccable. Hugo Boss, their favourite designer.
4. They made great engines, planes and vehicles. BMW made aeroplane engines. Volkswagen, now the BIGGEST car company, started in Nazi Germany. Mercedes Benz...superb too
5. Hitler invented the autobahn. That's why we have fast cars today.
6. Hitler was a vegetarian, and thus many Nazis followed that lead...if not totally, at least partially. Science has shown that vegan and the less-strict vegetarian diets are simply THE BEST OPTION for health, longevity and disease prevention.
7. Their ideas of science, engineering and architecture were #1 in the world. The reason America nudged ahead was from the emigration of the German Jewish braintrust to the USA. If Hitler didn't marginalise then kill off the Jews, the Nazis would have won WW2, and we'd all be driving SUPERB German cars, not the shit from Asia or fucking Protons from Malaysia.
...there's more. Allow your curiosity to discover the treasures of Nazism the world has conveniently censored. In particular, the reasons behind Hitler's choice of an ancient East Asian symbol (reversed) as his "trademark"---the Swastika.
No one needs to know history anymore. Thanks to Google, and the massive online archives from TRUSTED sources, any dickhead with a $100 smartphone can find out anything about history, even when taking a shit. Our grandparents would have had to first look for a well-stocked library or just rely on "folklore" as their "trusted source" of knowledge.
So over-sensitive, hysterical cries about "don't know history" are quite simply the rantings of the insane in our technologically advanced times.
C'mon, if you want to win arguments, you need to step up your game folks. Quoting facts alone or disputing claims by factual evidence is not a "smart tactic" any more. Anyone has the personal empowerment to do that. What is required is more intellectual rigour, better rhetoric skills adn most importantly, the art and science of persuasion.

I think it is not that China do not want to be belligerent if that can serve China's interests.
ReplyDeleteRather it is that China thinks peaceful means like economic development and trade can better serve their interests than by being belligerent.
Just as I think it is not that majority Sinkies do not want to vote opposition if they think opposition can govern better than PAP.
Rather it is that majority Sinkies think voting PAP can better serve their interests than by voting for a disunited, not ready to be govt opposition.
Not say I want to say but I must say.
ReplyDeleteSingapore's opposition parties are there only to serve the PAP, not the people. Period!
Other than the WP that has managed to get a GRC and an SMC to take care of, by virtue of being elected, no other opposition parties are really serving the people.
SDP is only good in writing essays whenever CSJ and his few khakis feel like it.
All others only comme out when a GE is near. These are selfish opportunists who want to have a small chip of glamour for historical records.
As for WP, since LTK took over, it has become an unwitting stooge of the PAP, providing the PAP the semblance of Parliamentary Democracy in form. Coincidentally, the initials W.P. can also mean Wayang Party. So appropriate!
In essence and for all practical purposes, it is as good as NO Opposition is Singapore.
Every single piece of legislation is easily and speedily passed at will by the PAP, that has during all these 54 years the 2/3 majority to pass any law it tabled. So what difference does it make from a decree or edict of an emperor or king who has the sycophantic support of his cowardly minions or beholden cronies, who are also bribed by Million Dollars salary, allowance, bonus and personal security and protection for their families with White-Horse and White-Mare Statue?
Matilar, just a hair transplant for Yiu will not do as you can be easily caught. You need to also replace and transplant the small Canon on two flat tires as the German have large Canon. Once they spotted your tiny Canon u are exposed and will be executed. 😀

Correct.
CSJ is better off being a university academic or researcher than as a politician. Any wonder why he didn't get enough votes to win, or close to winning, even a by election.
And too bad, he was sacked a long time ago from his university lecturer job, and also refuse to go elsewhere to look for another. Or maybe he was not offered, so he got stuck here as a every time lose opposition politician and perhaps another reason why he did not win elections. Voters see him "no up". So sad.

Gone already lah. He manages to ge "poor thing" sympathy vote...not enuf to run a cuntry. Can run a village...maybe.
When people in my field (those of us who make our living "manipulating people" and teaching clients how to manipulate their people) get together informally over drinks, we often discuss "How to make a govt LOSE an election" as an exercise. Lose ok, not win.
Suffice it to say, it is much easier to engineer a "loss" than it is a "win". But a "win" is more noteworthy in the media, and people love "success" and SHUN failure.
I'll make an outrageous and unsubstantiated claim: given the right resources, and the right team, I believe someone like me, or one of my industry colleagues have the means of making most elected govts FAIL at the polls. Media restrictions don't apply anymore cos we have the internet, and stuff like WeChat (biggest platform of all)
It is pure stupidity to offend big powerful country whether they are china or usofa. It is putting the lives and livelihood of people in danger. Neither commie or capitalist can be trusted. Just keep quiet.

Is Your Privacy in Facebook Save?
ReplyDeleteOn last Sunday, March 18, US and EU officials asked Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg for an explanation concerning a massive data breach. The breach involved the personal data of several millions of Facebook users that ended up with Cambridge Analytica (CA), a company hired by US President Donald Trump during his election campaign, without the users’ knowledge or consent.
Questions have also arisen whether Facebook has transgressed a landmark consent decree with the Federal Trade Commission, which had been put in place in 2011 in order to avoid the violation of privacy. David Vladeck, who had been an officer with the FTC’s Bureau of Consumer Protection and who had helped negotiate the FTC-Facebook agreement at that time, said that this law carries fines as high as US$40,000 (S$52,700) for every violation, which means that Facebook could end up paying in the billions.
The social media app platform denies any violations of their agreement with the FTC, however, it has received renewed attention both politically and from regulatory bodies. This season has been tough for Facebook, which has fought to preserve its image especially after news of Russian agents using the platform to manipulate users during the 2016 presidential elections in the US.
Cambridge Analytica made use of another application in order to gain access to data concerning almost 300,000 Facebook users between 2014 and 2015. The Trump campaign had paid the company more than US $6 million for their services during the campaign.
However, it’s highly likely that at least 500 hundred millions of people were affected in the data breach, since the information gathered during this period would have given access even to the data of friends of users, such as their birthdays, education, work histories, locations, pictures, political and religious affiliations, relationship statuses, and more—information that could very much be used by other political campaigns.
This is the first time that Mr. Zuckerberg will directly be questioned on these matters, even if Cambridge Analytics and Facebook have been under investigation in London and Washington for several months now.
According to Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar, Mr. Zuckerberg should appear in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee concerning the extent of Facebook’s knowledge of the data of millions of Americans that was used “in order to target political advertising and manipulate voters.”
Other US legislators, the Justice Commissioner of the EU, and Damian Collins, a British lawmaker in charge of a committee in parliament tasked to investigate Cambridge Analytics and Facebook, are also calling for Mr. Zuckerberg to testify.
On Sunday Mr. Collins said, “I will be writing to Mark Zuckerberg asking that either he or another senior executive from the Company appear to give evidence in front of the committee as part our inquiry.”
Additionally, the attorneys-general from Pennsylvania and Massachusetts are also intending to launch an investigation.
The social media platform has yet to comment on whether or not Mr. Zuckerberg will testify, however, they made a statement on Sunday saying that its own investigations have been renewed.
The hiring of Joseph Chancellor, who once worked for Cambridge Analytics and is now with Facebook, is also being investigated. It can be reasonably assumed Facebook knew about his connection with Cambridge Analytics when he was interviewed before his being hired. Most probably that was precisely the purpose Facebook has hired him?
I deleted my Nofaacebook account alredi. Nothing to worry about save or safe now.
ReplyDeleteThe investor who invests in being cynical is an idiot for sure. No person worth his sugar or salt would give ownself a damaging nickname telling all his readers what he is doing or intending to do. Obviously, his intention is to influence his readers to become as cynical as him, a trait that he has thoroughly enjoyed.
ReplyDeleteJust totally ignore this scum. Without readership, he can write nonsense until the moon drops down also no use. Just like the 154th State's mass media are losing readership because of producing obvious propaganda and fake news of half-truths, disinformation and misinformation.
A Singaporean writer has offered that Law and Home Affairs Minister K. Shanmugam’s 3-hour questioning of a local Facebook executive might just be a smokescreen.
The writer comments come as videos of the heated exchange between the Minister and Facebook’s vice-president of public policy for Asia-Pacific, Simon Milner has been making rounds online.
Milner, who had been representing the social media giant in front of the Select Committee on Deliberate Online Falsehoods on Thursday, found himself in a verbal tussle with the Law Minister who took his organisation to task for the recent data breach scandal that has gripped headlines.
News broke last weekend that a data firm, Cambridge Analytica, with ties to US politicians reportedly accessed information from about 50 million Facebook users without their knowledge nor authorisation.
The data harvest occurred as around 270,000 people took a personality quiz online that gave a Cambridge University professor access to their data and their Facebook friends’ data. This information, which was initially collected for academic purposes according to Facebook, was later transferred to third parties in violation of Facebook policies.
Some netizens have praised the Law Minister for pressing the Facebook representative to answer for the data breach as videos such as the one below have been circulating online.
Others, however, have felt that there is more to this “interrogation” than meets the eye.
One such voice, writer Sudhir Thomas Vadaketh, noted that while some videos online seem to suggest that the government is taking a tough stance against Facebook, “There is a different interpretation: two bedfellows trying to pretend that they never made out. One side spent money on targeted political marketing, the other happily sold your data.”
Sudhir added: “Do we know this for sure? No, but it seems highly likely that the PAP and of course Gov.sg, with its numerous sponsored videos telling you how wonderful life is in Singapore, have done so. Don’t forget that the latter spends your own tax dollars in order to advertise to you. (There are of course good informational reasons for policy advertising.)”
Pointing to news that one of several hopefuls tipped to be fielded as a People’s Action Party candidate in the next General Election is a top executive at Facebook, Sudhir wrote:
“The PAP has a long history of surreptitious political marketing online, for instance the team of anonymous bloggers under politician Baey Yam Keng. There is also some indication that it is aiming to recruit Facebook executives into its ranks. In today’s world if anybody from a data-rich tech firm enters politics…that should really worry you.
“Given the PAP’s dominance here, it is easy for this to descend into a partisan comment. It shouldn’t. Singaporeans and citizens everywhere, really, should demand much more transparency from all political parties about their online, targeted, psychographic political marketing.
“Political marketing has existed since forever, but there is something different about today’s beast. In a recent piece The New Yorker says “..the ethical difference between outright electoral corruption and psychographics is largely a matter of degree.”
"So instead of admiring Shanmugam’s questions, Singaporeans should be demanding that he, Sylvia Lim, Chee Soon Juan and all our other political leaders start providing us with much more information about these activities.
"The very essence of public discourse is under threat.”
Another writer, Daniel Yap who was one of the editors at the now-defunct socio-political website The Middle Ground, seemed to echo Sudhir’s views and opined:
“FB has made our world, and our politics and governance, more connected yet less transparent.”
151pm though WP may in some way give PAP a semblance of Parlimentary democracy, WP LTK, Sylvia Lim, etc (including JBJ) are loyal brave idealists to Singapore & Singaporeans. They have worked within a very controlled n harsh system with every odds stack against them by the PAP. And unfortunately for them the increasing pain of the vast majority voters are still insufficient to cause a mass reverse in voting pattern especially with the systematic introduction of 3rd world new citizens that almost ensure continual dominant rule for the PAP. Within the constraints, LTK & SL have already done very well. It is very difficult to beat the PAP in the Simgapore political game. LKY had put in placed many elaborate n exyensive macro n micro measures that ensure the dominance of the PAP for a long time...n it was by "hook or by crook" thru whatever even cruel n unreasonable laws.
ReplyDeleteIt is very difficult to beat the PAP in the Simgapore political game.

How to beat the PAP when the opposition which contested 100% seats in 2015 GE but cannot even name their shadow cabinet before an election? And for this, whose fault? PAP?
And like that u expect majority Sinkies to vote for opposition to become govt?
There will be chaos if instead of PAP, the opposition had won 93% seats in 2015 and all the opposition chiefs want to become prime minister.
No chaos lah....at most a few mores seats swing to WP at each election. Other Opp parties are not in syn with Sinkies "culture".

From LKY time, they been using these fear tactics to frighten the chickens. Most at that time still many boh tak cheh peasants and blind cows. They just simply get their traitous supporters and paid agents to sit among the unkos, aunties and tell them some frightening tales of what's happened if the opposition were to take over.
These dafties would pass on their propaganda and rolled effects to the rest of the sheep, cows, goats. Till today the cows, goats and sheep decescendents are still easily conned by them. ..
They still prefer to be slaves out of fear for change to their slavery.
Today's Mat Hatier words to the coming Malaysian GE: Do or Die for the Nation.
Another five years of PAP rule will be the DEATH SENTENCE for sinkies.
Pressing Issues To Discuss
ReplyDeleteWhy give attention to one insignificant cynical investor whom many people don't even heard of?
When:
1. A new law is being passed to allow police to shoot Singaporeans even if they just participate at a non-violent peaceful silent sit-in protest, yet not a single squeak is made by Sinkies, despite ASEAN countries loudly protesting against it and telling the Singapore Government not to shoot Singaporeans. Why is this law being introduced? Many questions come to mind immediately but looking at developments over the last few years, with the relentless inflow of foreigners converting to New Citizens and PRs, especially those from India, the following three questions have serious long-term implications and therefore need to be asked and addressed:
A. Are Singaporeans' lives expendable to the PAP Millionaire Ministers, knowing that they can easily replace them with New Citizens from third world countries? Especially India?
B. Is Singapore now being controlled by a group of minority calling the shots and overshadowing the PM? What the hell is going on at the top?
C. Is someone now in a very powerful position taking the opportunity to embed a law that can be used to wipe out the Chinese in time to come, and replace them with people from India? Isn't the President has already been craftily replaced by an Indian masquerading as a Malay through new laws and regulations just last year?
2. An International Trade War is looming precariously in the horizon, with the first salvo fired by the "Fire and Fury" Dotard Trump with his imposition of tariffs on steel and aluminium came into effect this week. And a counter salvo fired by China with $3 billion worth of tariffs on import of US soy beans into China, which imports 60% of US soy beans. Perhaps China should start importing red beans instead of soy beans?
3. A second phase of the Trade War launched by Dotard Trump imposing $60 billion worth of tariffs on at least 100 items of exports from China. what will be the consequences for other countries like Singapore, that are likely to be affected?
"The trouble with war is that once started, it is unpredictable. A shot across the bow can accidentally hit the ship and trigger conflict even if both sides aren’t yet prepared to do battle." - Jim Rickards.
4. A Currency War has started on the horizon and yet nobody is bothered what the eventual outcome will be. Will this lead to a consequence worse than the 2008 Financial Crisis?
5. A serious and urgent crisis of trust upon Facebook, and possibly also its sub-branches Whatsup! and Instagram, as a result of the horrendous discovery of the Cambridge Analytica's unscrupulous secret harvesting of at least 50 million accounts of Facebook members, stealing detailed confidential data for political and other uses, without the knowledge and permission of those harvested. Even the 25,000 Facebook employees are on edge now and many are already making moves to seek jobs in other places. The stock value of Facebook has tumbled sharply and hundreds of thousands of Facebook members are reported to have closed and erased their accounts. Will Facebook become History?
6. The stock markets across the globe are showing signs of negative reactions toward all the major events, especially the imminent Trade War and the Currency War. Will they lead to a market crash?
Those are six of the issues that should take the front seat in cyberspace discussions now, is it not?
Keep track, be prepared, be warned.
Owner and CEO of Facebook, Mark Zackerberg:
ReplyDelete"We have a responsibility to protect your data, and if we can't then we don't deserve to serve you. I've been working to understand exactly what happened and how to make sure this doesn't happen again. The good news is that the most important actions to prevent this from happening again today we have already taken years ago. But we also made mistakes, there's more to do, and we need to step up and do it."
Take note that Facebook is in the business of selling users' data, not in the business of protecting users' data, in the past. Can you trust Zackerberg's statement? After three days of keeping inexplicably quiet in public,at a time when Facebook stock was crashing, the company was being sued, and shareholders were demanding answers, what exactly is he trying to tell all of us?
This same man who talks about protecting data and your security once said from his Harvard dorm that dumb fucks entrusted him with their private data. Check here:

[Redacted Friend's Name]: What? How'd you manage that one?
Zuck: People just submitted it.
Zuck: I don't know why.
Zuck: They "trust me"
Zuck: Dumb fucks!
So, can you still trust the Facebook owner and CEO. MZ?
The crux of the matter is not Cynical Investor but the number of sillies been fed with western version of history and the truth and believing in them, without question and thinking.
ReplyDeletePlease lah disclosure of info should be mainly on the governing people....why? 1. Public servants aka elected politicians. 2. The ones holding the money of the nation n people. 3. The ones changing the laws. 4. Paid directly or indirectly by taxpayers money.

They are on public money aka taxpayer money even if the institution is structured as a "private" company. Really private company? Hahaha. Siow ah. Chio See Lang. Ah gong money lah.
US Begs China Reconsider ‘Catastrophic’ Ban on Importing Foreign Garbage & Recyclables
ReplyDeleteAmid fears of a potentially devastating trade war between the US and China, Washington has urged Beijing not to implement the ban on importing US garbage and recyclable materials that Asia’s giant threatened to impose last July.
In an effort to battle the "illegal foreign garbage" influx into China, last July China’s Ministry of Environmental Protection notified the World Trade Organization that it plans to ban imports of 24 types of solid waste materials, such as soda bottles, mixed paper, recycled steel and newsprint. Despite the threat to implement the ban by the end of the year, the document stated that the “proposed date of adoption” is “to be determined.”
Concerned over the massive impact the ban could have on the US economy, on Friday the US trade representative urged China to re-examine its decision.
“We request that China immediately halt implementation and revise these measures in a manner consistent with existing international standards for trade in scrap materials, which provide a global framework for transparent and environmentally sound trade in recycled commodities,” the US spokesperson noted, at the WTO Council for Trade in Goods session in Geneva.
“China’s import restrictions on recycled commodities have caused a fundamental disruption in global supply chains for scrap materials, directing them away from productive reuse and toward disposal,” the trade representative pointed out, according to Reuters.
Washington’s demand came a day after President Donald Trump ordered the US Trade Representative (USTR) to levy tariffs on at least $50 billion of Chinese imports. Although the USTR was given 15 days by Trump to propose a list of Chinese products that will be targeted, China’s commerce ministry has already threatened to take legal action against the US through the WTO. The country is also contemplating targeting 128 American products through an imposition of harsh import tariffs.
China is by far the biggest importer of US recyclables. Banning US junk imports will have a catastrophic impact on the US labor market and will drive up waste management costs. According to the US Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI), in 2016 alone American scrap exports to China totaled $5.6 billion and provided the industry with 155,000 jobs. While the Chinese representative at the meeting in Geneva on Friday agreed to relate the US-voiced concerns to Beijing, the envoy still noted that, ultimately, individual countries are responsible for their own waste.
If the Asian giant closes off its waste management market, recycling centers across the US will be faced with a hard choice. They can either hire a much more expensive workforce which would raise prices for their services, require households to sort their own waste or be forced to use more landfills across all fifty US states.
The most viable option would be to redirect the flows of US garbage into third countries, which, however, may not have facilities for safe recycling. This would raise concerns over potential environmental damage, the EU’s representative noted at the WTO meeting.
“In any given year, approximately one-third of the scrap recycled in the United States is prepared for shipment to the export market, and China is the recycling industry's largest customer,” ISRI President Robin Wiener told China Daily earlier. “This includes more than $1.9 billion in scrap paper and $495 million in scrap plastics. A ban on imports of scrap commodities into China would be catastrophic to the recycling industry.”

ReplyDelete>> The crux of the matter is not Cynical Investor but the number of sillies been fed with western version of history and the truth and believing in them, without question and thinking. <<
Adoi bismiallah inshallah lah uncle..."Sillies"---as you put it---run the world lah, by the sheer mass of their numbers. (I prefer the word "Sheeple"...but no matter. I'm not quibbling)
Local e.g.: &0% of locals and "new citizens" voted in our old friends (whose characters we all know so well) in the last election. The times when the PAP didn't get a "super majority" at the polls, they show "black face", then in the height of arrogance, fuck the people for the people's "dangerous stunt". Can you believe the temerity of the incumbents? Of course we can...we expect it...🤡 And yet, for 5 decades...we conveniently offer them their offices back...GE after GE.
Sillies indeed rule, just look at the culture. Sillies just eat up what the MSM feed them...fake news, pure speculation, real truths...all mixed up in a miasma of "facts"...doesn't matter. Just as the sillies gorge on lethal fast food, resulting in rises of arse-cancers, diabetes, heart disease etc, they shovel down the clap-trap the MSM feeds them.
Sillies think their smartphones and digital devices are secure. Because the believe the bullshit the manufacturers put out, and those new things are beautiful and shiny, and have pretty coloured screens. So here's my prediction: In 2018 we are going to see some SPECTACULAR HACKING goin on in the mobile devices space. If you thought cryptolocker was bad, lookout. You ain't seen nothing yet! But the sillies will just carry on without care or caution.
I can go on with numerous examples of how the Silly Sheeple will continue to be guided by bad thinking. It's out there---all you need do is observe and make sure you don't end up as one of them.
However, there is at least one good thing about this. Sillies are easily manipulated...which makes my business a whole lot easier 🤑
I believe that every adult with a functioning brain (even marginally functional) is responsible for what they believe and how they act on their beliefs. So when shit hits the fan as it invariably does, and people reap what the sow, I go to work to reap what they've sown too 😝
In that respect, I shouldn't be so cruel to The Sillies. I should treat them with more respect. Afterall, they fill my rice bowl allowing me to be a lazy bum.
To all you sillies out there, Thank you. Keep voting PAP and keeping the cuntry in a constant state of expensive "nation building". I want my beloved Hotel Singapore to keep on getting ore and more SHIOK. 🤓
