If one is to believe the result of Robert Walters, more people,
presumably locals, are seeking contract jobs instead of permanent jobs
as such positions offered more flexibility or work life balance.
Randstad Singapore, another foreign named recruitment agency confirmed
that ‘the year on year growth for contract roles is 35 percent. Randstad
has seen a 40 percent growth in such roles in the information
technology industry, while the banking industry has seen a 30 per cent
increase.’
Though contract jobs are growing, more workers, presumably locals or
Singaporeans here remain keen to secure permanent positions. For
foreigners or locals that are not citizens, it makes sense to have
contract jobs, after all their homes are not here and they would not be
here for good. For Singaporeans, with the albatross housing loan hanging
over their neck, it would be foolish to think that they preferred
contract jobs. Equally foolish is to say that Singaporeans prefer part
time jobs and temporary jobs. These are Singaporeans that are forced to
take up part time and insecure jobs out of no choice because permanent
and better jobs are taken by foreign talents. Randstad’s country
director confirmed this, ‘In Singapore, employee expectation is still on
securing permanent employment because the salary is tied to long term
debt.’
Any clown wants to say otherwise, that Singaporeans prefer contract
jobs, part time jobs, temp jobs? Some clowns said Singaporeans
preferred to be taxi drivers so that they are their own boss, and ending
spending most of their time fetching maids and foreign workers around
in their taxis. These irresponsible clowns would continue to tell their
lies that all is well for Singaporeans unable to secure a permanent job
and having to service their expensive mortgages, providing for their
families in this most expensive place in the world.
The pathetic Singaporeans unable to secure permanent jobs would be
buried in a mountain of debt that they would not be able to service.
Thanks to the free influx of foreign talents with dubious and
questionable qualifications and experience.
Who should these jobless or underemployed Singaporeans thank for their
plight in this most expensive city in the world? There must be many very
happy Singaporeans working part time or in contract jobs, not counting
those that could no longer find a job. The pain has not hurt yet.
Yes, the only clown to say we Singaporeans love part time/contract jobs will ne NTUC.

ReplyDeleteRight you are bro! Singaporeans been conned to have part time, contract and what's flexi jobs.
It's the Trend. The Trend is that not enough permanent full time fulfilling jobs for our own.
Many young Singaporeans fall into the traps thinking it is the norm.
Many also having these flexi jobs found to have lots of enjoyable and flexi time.
They did not realise that with a wink of an eye they be reaching retirement and what savings and CPF's balance if any is left.
In the Prime, you must have full time employment to have these savings.
Our Mps too like part-time jobs that pay $16k a month beside getting paid millions for their full time (some). These are all Singaporeans and they would agree wholeheartedly.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you think?
Singaporeans love part time and contract jobs.
ReplyDeleteIt's true.
We voted for it.
Do you think it's true that PAP does not know how to create full time jobs for Singaporeans anymore?
Do you think PAP is politically bankrupt if they do not know how to increase full time employment for Singaporeans?
ReplyDeleteHere in Sinkieland, some of the PMETs & young graduates took up contract jobs out of no choice because employers here wanto exploit these employees to the fullest during their short stint & employers do not have to feed these contract or temp employees for long term due to their business strategy. Employers would employers theses Sinkies to make up for their locals number or quota as most r on work permits nowadays. In Sinkieland, u will find many companies local or MNC u see Sinkies r a miniority & when u asked their employers most will said its hard to recruit Sinkies but when u see the job description it goes like this "...able to work irregular hrs or on weekend or public holiday..." ..bet u most Sinkies will not take up these jobs even if its contract...
ReplyDeleteDaft sinkies don't even know they have been betrayed.
ReplyDeleteIt is so easy to con these daft.
Singapore - the most expensive place to live on this planet - is going to be even more expensive as more tax hikes loom.
ReplyDeleteIf that is the case, must thanks the PGs who think of short term gains n never have foresight. They got what they want but fail to admit it's their mistake ,pretend to commend the past chenghoo and blame the current chenghoo and 70%,once they discover not everyday is a Sunday.
ReplyDeleteThey gonggong stop at 2,bleed a generation of JLB,always choosy ,want short working hours, high pay asking for all kind leaves.
Only solution now is to tell your children to grab any jobs that's come along.Stop being westernized, and think graduate must hold jobs with good pay n stop hopping .
Go n join sewer service, oon oon jiak new hoon.Sleep, kheowkhar oso can get pay.
Or join screwty, help to secure homes n factories. They work so hard to attract younger sinkies to join the profession by ensuring they are paid higher, forgetting to ask for minimum contract fees for the towkays.
But want be towkay can oso drive private hires.
So many FTs no need own expensive cars can enjoy cheap rides to shenton way daily.
Many many money to pick up on the roads, many many chiobus too.
Start working longer hours and stop being choosy. You can hardly find such good country to find money easily.
With longer hour contributed, you help to reduce the dependency on foreign talents.
Now.Go work instead of idling at home or lakopi.
Please please please.......
ReplyDeletePlease remember 70% voted them!
Yes! The 70% must be very very happy with contract jobs.
Singapore is like that.
If you want to live here, no choice no choice.
You just have to 3Ms!
In this you die your business society,
No $$$$$$$$ no talk!
Singapore is like that liao!
You don't know meh?
When the cup is half filled, is it half full or half empty so depending on how you wanted to twist your story. It's like now sinkies buying smaller flats and there are clowns that said sinkies like smaller flats not sinkies have Money No Enough to buy bigger flats. After all the argument of sinkies like smaller flats are back up by minister saying sinkies need only small place to have sex. Even that rule out many positions cause the really small place u can not do cow girl position for example and may be restricted to doggie style standing position as that position used the least space. Tio bo?๐๐๐
ReplyDeleteFormula One: Singapore to host F1 race for four more years
ReplyDeletehttp://www.straitstimes.com/sport/formula-one/singapore-to-host-f1-race-for-four-more-years
-------------------
Mr Iswaran also revealed that, including this year's race, Singapore has hosted more than 450,000 international visitors, who have contributed about $1.4 billion in incremental tourism receipts.
(Blogger's comment: So which Singaporeans made money from this $1.4 billion in incremental tourism receipts? Hotel owners? Restaurant owners? Airline owners? Did ordinary Singaporean taxpayers like uncle redbean make money from Formula 1?)
The annual cost of hosting the race was estimated to be around $150 million, although Mr Iswaran said costs had come down by about $15 million a year to $135 million.
(Blogger's comment: Did the $135-$150 million dollars come from Singaporeans' tax money?
Do you think the Singaporean tax money used this way, benefits hotel owners and restaurant owners more than ordinary Singaporeans like redbean?)
And now PAP government wants to increase tax again.
Who is going to benefit from this tax increase?
If you don't benefit, why are you voting PAP to support this tax increase?
ReplyDeleteAhgongkia, dont wonder you still Ahgongkia.
PGs short sighted? ?
PGs Towkays gave long term employments to their employees. Many worked till their 70s and even become Great Grandfathers.
Even have cooked lunches with Bosses.
Many have Gold Rolex watches whentheur retired.
As one bro 9.16 said, unscrupulous So called chiap chye employers exploited the loopholes as sanctioned by the PAP to have now employees worked such ridiculous terms.
PGs employers think of the welfare of employees even they want to fire them for incompetence.
Always piang chance to transfer them to other suitable posts.
So DONT tar the PGs.
Hehe..laochek.i mean PGs of your generation lah.
DeleteOnly know how to abuse power when given, tekan deserters in detention barracks, some umpai ask for sexual favour ...
Painting a picture of local employers exploiting employees only kill our local employers, giving more chances for more FT,foreign towkays to take over.
Dun be khongcum. Our local towkays are exploited but dun grumble.
And it's employee exploiting employers nowadays and not employers exploiting.
The law protect employees so much that many employers have problem controlling their men, got to close shop or struggling.
Sinkies are overpampered.
We need FTs here to make them work harder but they still Erm Chai See.
And many local towkays prefer sinkies than foreigners.
My kachang puteh towkay has no foreigners in his payroll.
No incentives for employing locals but maybe risk being mark for not employing FTs or paying levies.
But Sinkies dun know how to appreciate. What sinkies know is just how to kpkb, complain n grumble on their boss.
Do ourselves a favour .Want less FTs,we must work harder n longer hours. Now go tell our children that.
And 9.16
DeleteCannot work on weekend or irregular hours is not our employers fault but it's applicants being choosy.
Having entitlement mentality that you deserve weekend off, expect 8 to 5 only cause more FTs here so its sinkies fault ,not our employers.
This ang mor firm is not a survey company. Its recruits are at least 6 digit salary. So the samples from the population and the questions they asked need the details.
ReplyDeleteSinkieland is oredi a dead horse. A doctor can still wayang to cure it. U know the results. The debts each individual bears has not been told in statistics.
Once the debts are high compare to income on a sinkie, grabbing a job to cling on is rational step. It does not matter if a contract job or permanent. Does it? These jobs are dependent on the work results. No results, the boss will bye joe. Even has good improvement, the boss will make 10% 20% increments for himself. Little increment for the executives.
They dont want to say bye bye?
Only exception is civil service. Politically correct ones will stay permanent. This is the rule.
Employees here are not loyal to firms. This is the rule. When times to go for high pay job, better run for it. Therefore firms like to hire foreigners because they are tied to debts they borrowed to come into sinkieland. Dare not to resign.
Observe this kind of cat and mouse game. U will know the work place will not generate solid innovative products or results. Many working in firms will find more than half are foreigners. These foreigners of same skin color speak languages sinkie can never understand. Kena sabo is common especially the subordinates to them. If these sinkies resign, the foreigners will replace, kakinan.
No loyalty to the firm, for both sinkies and foreigners. Who want to employ them?
If u ask a NS men, when bullets come, u dash to cover for the dear foreigners to die for them? Go do a survey on this question. Only the politically correct will say definitely yes. Will they do in battle? Kong ke ke lah.
Sinkieland over the 20 years of open up with equal number of foreigners will not give away the last bit called loyalty. Loyalty to their parents, that could be the last they will do.
If no loyalty to a firm, what is there to issue contract or permanent contracts? The horse is oredi dead. No point to look at such things as contracts for employment because in many s minds, how long can the job last is the best question.
How long can the firm last without closing shops? Dare to offer permanent jobs must have the confidence to sustain for 10 years. Retailers like joelittle had history over 100 years oredi dead. More are on the line to close. Retailers are ah long s so called restructured sector. Open the eyes to see shops shutting down.
Individuals cannot earn income, they cannot spend on retailers. This is primary school maths + and -. Ah long s club members think foreigners taking the cash here will spend on the retailers for coffers. High rent high sales low salary for hiring foreigners from ah neh and pinoys. But low sales cannot sustain high rent for too long.
The same will go for export manufacturers. Many known brands are no longer operating on this dead horse.
No loyalty to strike for the best inside employees ' hearts, grab big increment inside elite politicians n bosses hearts. Have or not permanent job contract is only useful to the firm. When contract term s up, off the employee go. That is not sacking. Good right? If offer permanent contract, and the job is not done, cannot sack? So the firms practising contracts are half hearted, not sure if they can go for 1 to 3 years. It is a fair deal.
There are many such half dead dying firms. Offer contracts means they may not have money. To employees, they better ask for permanent. If its ends at contract, better check the term for early termination. Many firms are not able to hire permanent.
YOU MOTHERFUCKER SINKIES FULLY FUCKING DESERVE THE GOVT YOU FUCKING VOTED FOR!!!

Ahgongkia, Tow Teh or curis in Malay or Tow Gays are the cheapskate employers who wants ti have FTs and also exploited them.
ReplyDeleteEvery month's also cut salaries.
Non performance. Commission fees for what's bullshits Govt's taxes or requirements.
Salary 1200 take Hine only 600.
600 Makan for their medical fees to treat their cancers, gouts, VDs etc for short changing their employees.
What's talk you. The Government is on the side of the employers to tekan the employees with what contract, Part-time and flexi work.
They simply wants to hire and fire without responsibilities.
The Employment Act. Compensation and etc.
On top of this as fellow Singaporeans want our Sons in reservists to protect their business and families.
Pui! !!!
Reserve service helps nsmen to remember how to be operation ready, else emergency they forgot how to press the trigger.
DeleteIt is a privilege for one to be given a chance to go reserve service.
Can get same pay, klkk,go JB n cheong and bonding after training with old kakis.
Very gong to think FTs are exploited. Many are far better than sinkies and yet those activists keep complaining they are shortchanged. How khongcum can sinkies be.
ReplyDeleteDear anonymous 12.158pm
You keep mentioning.......YOU!
How about yew yourself,sir?
Any suggestions what we should go from here?
Hahaha!
"Equally foolish is to say that Singaporeans prefer part time jobs and temporary jobs. These are Singaporeans that are forced to take up part time and insecure jobs out of no choice because permanent and better jobs are taken by foreign talents."
ReplyDeleteRB
U r rite.
But u don't expect recruitment firms to say such a thing, do u?
So the recruitment firms are learning from our politicians, that is to say the politically "correct" thing, for example increasing GST is to help the poor.
That's how they can get business from lots of pro-PAP companies, just as the politicians can get votes from daft voters who believe them.
YOU DESERVE IT!

ReplyDeleteTimes are bad. Only temp and contract jobs available but still better than no jobs. Will teach people to spend carefully e.g. not buy iphone but buy xiaomi loh.
ReplyDeletePermanent jobs go to the 2.3 million foreigners working here. Temp jobs, contract jobs, blame for littering, and NS go to Sinkies . . .
ReplyDeleteAgongkia, stop blaming us lar, u must understand that pap of today is quite different from pap of yesteryear. Some of us woke up already but majority still asleep bo bian.
ReplyDeleteAgongkia, if u continue to blame the PG, if Ee ever see you, we Kena screw you until u scream for pleasure or pain whatever fancy you. But your ass pechak don't blame us ok? Stop bad mouth the PG.
ReplyDeleteAnon 11.11/7.28
ReplyDeleteFacts are facts lah.
If we think sinkies nowadays are unhappy n suffering ,then the blame must naturally goes to those PGs who voted for the you know who in those beginning years that cause today's results and not the current 70%.
These PGs instead of admitting their mistake ,keep blaming the 70% or the current chenghoo.
We can see the results of these PGs for their action.
We are yet to see the results of the 70% .Years later(we can't see at the moment),you may find the decision of the 70% is right.
So,you Lao uncles n Lao ah peks, stop, being hypocrite , pretending to sing praises of the old team to condemn the new team or the 70%.
It's PGs with entitlement mentality who can no longer take advantages from the current team that kpkb.
No worry for them. These PGs have big bungalows or expensive pigeon holes, daily hoping for their pigeon holes to fetch million, hoping chenghoo trying to bring in more tycoons or foreign talents but pretend say FTs not welcome.
Listen to good advice. When you are a pauper, just be happy or pretend to be happy and everything will be alright.
ReplyDeleteAhgongkia is just Red Eyed that he missed the PG benefits.
ReplyDeleteAlso, PG, big pigeon holes and bungalows and over seas homes.
That's why kept blaming the PGs for his woes.
Work harder as you said Ahgongkia and have these.
DONT be lazy have three to four jobs in order to have these.
Don't always lah kopi with your kakis in coffeeshops.
These assets don't come from heaven.
Must work for them.
DONT groan and moan.
It won't happened.
WIYHOUT the PGs, you be still running in shorts with no singlet or without any underwear.
So be grateful.
Even not enough for lah kopi.
Cheers
Foreign recruit firm....ask them to go to hell . How much they know about Singapore and Singaporeans . It is because Singaporean cannot land a good permenent job that is why they end up taking temperary and contract jobs . They are spreading lies so as to hide the truth of the problems . These clowns are paid by their master to put the blame back to Singaporeans .
