I briefly mentioned about the mansion of Mo Biqiang and Dong Xiaowan in my previous article and the little corner of the city that was preserved for posterity, a past that should not be forgotten. Here are some of the photos I took of this part of Rugao. Incidentally the mansion of Mo Biqiang is now a tourist attraction, very well preserved and maintained. Here are the pics of the old rich in dynastic China.
Park entrance to Mo Biqiang's mansion.
First bridge after the entrance with a statue of Mo Biqiang, a rich gentry.
The actual main door to the home of Mo Biqiang, a 400 year architecture in the dying days of Ming Dynasty.
Portraits of Dong Xiaowan and Mo Biqiang. Dong, a famous courtesan of the time was a mistress of Mo. She died at age 29. Mo was a few years older than her but lived past the 60s and the portrait was painting after his death as customary practice then would not paint a portrait of a living person.

I will post more pics of the ancient quarters in my next article.

Why the US Navy is so disgraceful?
ReplyDeleteThis is the fifth careless and/or unprofessional mishap involving US warships in Asia this year, since the inauguration of Donald Trump as the US 45th President. He must be a jinx or that God must be warning him not to provoke North Korea into a Nuclear War that will end the whole World.
A US warship has sustained minor damage after a collision with a Japanese tug off central Japan, the US Navy says.
The commercial tug lost propulsion and drifted into the guided-missile destroyer, the USS Benfold, during a towing exercise in Sagami Bay.
In a statement, the US Navy said that the warship Benfold sustained minimal damage, including scrapes on its side. It remains at sea under her own power, while the Japanese commercial tug is being towed by another vessel to a port in Yokosuka and that no one was injured.
In August, 10 US sailors were killed when the USS John S McCain collided with an oil tanker east of Singapore, in Malaysian waters.
In June, seven US sailors died in a collision between the USS Fitzgerald and a container ship in Japanese waters near the port city of Yokosuka.
In May, a guided-missile cruiser collided with a South Korean fishing vessel, while in January another cruiser ran aground near the fleet base in Yokosuka.
In late January, the guided-missile cruiser USS Antietam ran aground while trying to anchor in Tokyo Bay.
The ship damaged its propellers and spilled hydraulic oil into the water off the coast of Japan.
The incident did not result in any injuries to US or Japanese personnel, but the discharge of up to 1,100 gallons of hydraulic oil prompted environmental concerns. Probably, all the sailors on board the USS Antietam must be having so much fun that they totally neglected the movement of the ship?
With such a low and shameful unprofessional approach towards their profession, how can the US Navy, even with three aircraft carriers encircling North Korea, be able to post any deterrent to North Korea, or even gain any respect from other countries?
In time to come, with such standards of capabilities, do you think the US will be known as Super Powder instead of Super Power?
ReplyDeleteThe US Navy Fleet is afraid of Kim's submarines creeping from behind and shout "BOO" Merry Christmas.
That's why so many collisions.
Kim now building Subs to5 croach near the US coasts with Mother of All BOMBS.
LHL gonna raised his voice again as ASEAN chair to frighten Kim.
All the Rest of ASEAN leaders gonna fall asleep again.
Asean should not be a stooge to the USA and peddle the US agenda.
ReplyDeleteUS people should not fall into the traps of the evil anti christ elites who wants war between them and china. These bunch of elites are very good in using other people hands to get what they want through plundering and killing. They just sit behind the curtains enjoying their champagen and caviar while people killed each other but they will own all the wealth after. People must love and respect one another and not hate and fight one another. We can have peace and these evil elites can go and eat shit .
