The failure of the opposition parties to make gains into Parliament GE
after GE and by election after by election has led the citizens that
were looking forward to change into a state of despair. Nothing is going
to change and the people will have to live with the PAP as the ruling
govt for the next 50 years. Lee Hsien Loong knew this and that he would
remain as PM until he chooses to retire at a time of his own choosing,
that is when he is 70. This is only one of the unbearable hard truths
that Singaporeans would have to live with and feeling helpless about it.
And the helplessness did not stuck with just the political system.
There are many things that Singaporeans felt are very wrong, or not to
their likings but, yes, helpless to do anything about it. So they would
just have to live with them and make the best out of a bad situation, or
a very bad situation.
The influx of foreigners into the island, as job hunters, as PRs and
eventually given citizenship, is so huge and so disproportionate to the
number of citizens is a big sore point. More than half of the
population, including many new citizens, is foreigners, not locally
born. Did the Singaporeans agree to it? Were they asked that this is ok?
No, but they could not do anything about it. It is a fait accompli
dictated by the political party they elected to Parliament, to be their
govt.
The problem of the influx of foreigners is not just a number.
Singaporeans lost their jobs, high cost of living, inflation, high
property prices and rentals, and stress on the infrastructure especially
public transport, housing and medical. What can the Singaporeans do
about it? Nothing.
Many have been cursing about their life time savings in the CPF that
they thought were something to look forward to at retirement, ie 55
years old, only to see their savings slipping away from their fingers.
The govt keeps changing the rules to keep them from touching their life
savings, at times with ridiculous nonsensical reasons. Some jokers even
openly said the savings of the people in the CPF are not their money.
What can the Singaporeans do? Nothing. Just as helpless as if the money
is really not theirs. And many of the natural aristocrats are grinning
at their stupidity and helplessness.
Recently there were many noises about whether the HDB flats they lived
in belong to them or the HDB ie the govt. Are they owners or lessees? If
they are lessees, why are they made to pay property taxes and for the
upkeep and maintenance and repairs of the HDB flats? No matter how much
kpkb, nothing happens and the people lan lan continue to pay their
property taxes on the lease property, their HDB flats accepting that
they are the real owners of their HDB flats.
And now the case of the Elected Presidency. The govt changed the terms
and conditions to the Elected Presidency. Only a handful of super rich
elites can stand for election as the EP. This is no longer the right any
citizen like before. This used to be the right of every citizen but no
more. So, what can the people do about it?
The govt also decided that a Parliament appointed president can also
count as an elected President despite everyone knowing that the first
elected President was Ong Teng Cheong. Tan Cheng Bock went to court but
his case was thrown out. The govt has the absolute right to determine
what is an elected president and what is not according to the court
rulings.
The govt also has the right to decide who is a Malay or who is not a
Malay to be eligible to stand for the reserved election for a Malay
President. A non Malay or half Malay also can if accepted by the
President Election Community. What can the people do? Nothing. Helpless.
What about the case against the WP in the management of Town Council?
Were there more serious cases of bigger losses and mismanagement than
this case? This time the WP looks so helpless and waiting for the
guillotine to slam down on their necks, as sure as the sun will rise.
What about the people? They can only look at the case helplessly. There
is nothing that the people can do about it to speak out and defend their
elected representatives in Parliament.
What about the foreigners taking charge in the job market, recruiting
and filling good jobs with more foreigners citing that Singaporeans are
daft, no skill, lazy, incompetent etc etc and foreigners are the best
fit for top jobs? The helpless Singaporeans only try to help themselves
by applying to be taxi drivers or be content with part time jobs or
contract jobs. What else can they do?
Helplessness is everywhere, if one bothers to look, in Sin City. Fees,
taxes, transportation costs, prices of everything are going up and up.
The helpless people just have to live with them.
PS. Actually this picture of helplessness is not true. Many Singaporeans
are buying bigger houses and bigger and more expensive cars. The
helplessness only happens to the losers, the Singaporeans that are
jobless, underemployed or unemployed.
But what about the foreigners? They have never had it so good. It is
like landing in paradise, away from their slum filled countries where
jobs were hard to come by, to a land where pots of gold are everywhere
and fortunes are made. Many went home rich, became landowners and
starting their own businesses. Some even retired and no need to work
anymore, living as the nouve riche in their original home countries
where they were once poor ordinary folks.

your article is very unfair.
As a PAPig mental masturbator, I know that I am a useless piece of overpaid shit.
But Singaporeans keep voting for me.
So what to do?
Lan, lan bo pian lor.
Everyday I go to work with a heavy heart.
Because I know I am going to fuck up the Singapore economy even more.
I also have a deep sense of helplessness.
I know I'm a useless piece of shit.
So for sure I will fuck up if you continue to vote for me.
So please stop voting for me.
It's really your fault for voting for me.
Because you should know by now ... after 52 years.
Nothing good will happen to you, if you vote for me.
What can the people do? Nothing. Helpless.
ReplyDeleteRB
Not really lah.
If they are smart, they can make money, and lots of it, for example as PAP ministers and top civil servants.
And if they cannot make money here, they will emigrate elsewhere to do it, or to get a better life, and perhaps for less money.
So where got nothing to do? Where got helpless?
And even if there are, which country don't have helpless and hopeless people, u tell me lah?
The helplessness only happens to the losers, the Singaporeans that are jobless, underemployed or unemployed.
ReplyDeleteRB
Every country has jobless, underemployed or unemployed people lah.
So why should Sinkieland be any exception?
So need to see things in perspective lah, and only then one will realise Sinkieland is not that bad as portrayed by critics.
Ask yourself. If it is really that bad, why so many foreigners still want to come here? Why PAP can win 70% votes in election?
kJ - u got the Gov u deserved so Dafts Sinkies dun kpkb..suss the fxxx up..
ReplyDeleteThere is only one hope that is attainable. Change will come when PAP is unable to obtain the 75% majority. Once that happens, Ministers and MPs will work for the PEOPLE and not just for the party. To achieve the outcome, oppositions must not contest 100% of seats contested. The last GE is a good example of how people were worried should opposition parties manage to form a new government which we all know they are not capable of at this juncture.
ReplyDeleteI also have a sense of helplessness too, and I choose to let it be, since it cannot be changed. Wnen there is an election context, I just do the necessary or go through the motion.
ReplyDeleteEventually, the powerful and the helpless will all go to the same end. Who wins or who loses is, in the final analysis, irrelevant. Take for example the old man and his adversaries. The winners and the losers. Where are they now?
What we achieved, what we accumulated, what battles we won, matters little when the time comes.
We came here naked and empty handed, we leave here empty hand, but at least with just the clothes on, if not incinerated.
Actually what's wrong with Halimah as President, where Sinkies lives are concerned?
ReplyDeleteWhether Sinkies have good or bad life, they will continue to have good or bad life with Halimah as President, tio bo?
So why would Sinkies bother who is President?
Actually what Sinkies should really bother is which party can be ready and better than PAP to be govt, and not which Sinkie is President.
And if there is no party ready and better than PAP to be govt, then Sinkies should form one. This is called action, not NATO, not kpkb.
ReplyDeleteYes! Actually this picture of helplessness is not true.
At least not to the 70% that voted for PAP!
Yes! You are 1oo% correct!
Many many Singaporeans are buying bigger houses and bigger and more expensive cars.
Yes! It is very very true that the helplessness only happens to the losers, the Singaporeans that are jobless, underemployed or unemployed.
Now, many many Singaporeans bo-chap bo-chap. They only concentrate on 3 Ms! Yes only 3 Ms?
Here up there up and here tax there tax, how to tahan if don't 3Ms, you tell me lah!
So must 3 Ms! That is the main reason why singaporeans bo-chap bo-chap!
This is the new normal! Singapore is like that liao! How to go back to the good-old-days?
No choice! What can you do now? You tell me lah?
Home?
We came here naked and empty handed, we leave here empty hand, but at least with just the clothes on, if not incinerated.

Hahaha.....知足常乐! 知足常乐!
You eat sharks fin and earn million dollar salary, but you will also end up, either six feet underground to feed the worms (maybe tastier meat for them from eating so much sharks fin), or as ashes in an urn. Eating the sharks fin cannot change your fate and is an act of extreme cruelty that only people like you can commit. The million dollar salary will not extend you life when the time comes.
ReplyDeletePrivate tuition or the best schools will not change anyone's final fate! The old man went to the best school and excel in everything he does. But can he dictate his fate with his wealth and power? Can you change your fate or your children's fate?
I do not have to worry about my children. They live the same way as I do when they were young. They decide for themselves what they want when they grew up. It is not for me to dicate that they should eat sharks fin or which path they want to take.
This deep sense of helplessness is only felt by the 30% Sinkie losers. The 70% Sinkie winners and the 2 million foreigners working here are finding Singapore a paradise !

CPF only keeping about $200K when you reach 55. This amount is only increasing at 3% to 4% yearly. This amount is meant for annuity monthly payouts at 65 & also for medical usage.
ReplyDeleteAnything above this current $200K you can take out from CPF. If you don't even have $200K --- please lah --- You Cannot Retire!!!
The hard truth is that for people at 55 without even $200K in their CPF --- they will use up whatever CPF they have within 3 years if give to them. No need to go Geylang or Batam, they will also use up.
In fact for rich people above 55, they park as much cash as possible in their CPF accounts --- taking advantage of the 2.5% to 3.5% interest rates. Since they are retired & already meet the Minimum Sum, they can take out & put in cash into their CPF account almost anytime they like .... like a bank, but paying much higher than even bank fixed deposits (less than 1% now for 1-year FD).
This is a rich man hack in S'pore that most people like you don't even know!!!
As for myself, since I'm way below 55, I currently concentrate on my war stocks!!!!
Smart Sinkies with enough savings parked their balance CPF's Retirement Accounts in the CPF Board for that 3%.
ReplyDeleteBut, must also be wise if any evil wind of tumultuous bad happenings,.better be wise to also whatsoever can withdrawn be withdrawal in time.
Banks only guarantee later to only 75K of your savings. Now at only 50K.
Banks can kaput so does the CPF Board. Put monies into shares are feeding the Elites who manipulated your monies into their benefits and gave you patry sums to wet your insatiable greed of making monies.
When they goes kaput, all your principals minus your patry bones also kaput.
The Main consideration is get a non investment safe place to go when this island also kaput.
Sinkies been brainwashed that for every investments, they must bring returns.
Aiyo, Matland properties no use, no returns. When this red dot sinks, not only all your properties and whatsoever investments sink, your lives also sink.
How long you can tread water and survive? ? At least you have land to live and stand on in Matland when Sinking Land sinks.
The Emperor and his fat cronies will be all on hard land loving their wealth.
Out of sight, out of mind, you think they can see you struggling in the waters???
In fact for rich people above 55, they park as much cash as possible in their CPF accounts --- taking advantage of the 2.5% to 3.5% interest rates.
ReplyDeleteThis is a rich man hack in S'pore that most people like you don't even know!!!
11:58 am
But I know lah. And I also did it some more.
But can only put as much cash as the CPF that had been used for housing, and not more.
However, you should note that if you already have the required full minimum sum, CPF may not allow you to top up any further.
ReplyDeleteBut if you do not have the full minimum sum you are allowed to top up your retirement account, but I understand that whatever you put into your CPF retirement account in this manner cannot be taken out almost 'anytime you like'. The withdrawal conditions still have to follow the normal procedures.
That is my understanding. Please correct me if I am wrong.
However, you should note that if you already have the required full minimum sum, CPF may not allow you to top up any further.
ReplyDelete12:46 pm
Not really lah. As long as there is CPF used for property, can top up to that amount used, regardless of whether there is minimum sum.
For example, if you used $500K of your CPF for property, you can top up to $500K cash to your CPF OA, even if you already have the full mimimum sum.
What can the people do?
ReplyDeleteThere are many things the people can do.
I will just say three things.
1. Emigrate to greener pastures, if you can.
2. Change the government that you think is screwing you up, if you can.
3. If both the above, you CANNOT, then accept the fate and suffer in silence;
or
kpkb as loud as you like but no one is going to take any heed from you, because you have asked for it.
For example, if you used $500K of your CPF for property, you can top up to $500K cash to your CPF OA, even if you already have the full mimimum sum.
ReplyDelete1:00 pm
That's why rich hacks don't withdraw their CPF even if they can. They will put even more money in their CPF if they can. And they vote PAP.
This one I think Hsien Loong also knows, through the IRAS and CPF records of the Sinkies.
And because Hsien Loong knows, he no worry about Sinkies not voting for PAP due to money no enough.
The Dragonfly 1.06pm
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of people who are financially OK but love to kpkb and kpkb.
They have the money. They enjoy kpkb and kpkb.
However,,,,,when come to voting........PAP!
Yes, you are absolutely correct. The strength of any government or opposition is dependent upon the support of the masses of the country in the short term. Based on prevailing circumstances, with the poor performances of the opposition, the only choice for voters, between the devil and the deep blue sea, is to vote for the known devil than for the unknown deep blue sea.
ReplyDeleteMoreover, kpkb is not entirely bad. It has the positive effect of spinning off good simple solution to some of the problems that those living in ivory towers and golden palaces cannot see or feel. It serves as a form of indirect feedback channel, despite being hard-hitting and sometimes over-reacting.
Any government worth its salt (and million dollars salary) should tap into this source of feedback. Instead of trying to counter each and every negative criticism, logical and reasonable comments should be accepted and possible solutions exploited for the sake of opening up ideas to help Singapore and Singaporeans advance together.
Divisive tactics will not serve the long-term interests of nation-building.
Dun be a loser and tempt to migrate to imaginative greener pastures or encourage Sinkies to.
ReplyDeleteOur forefathers chose this land so we should stay put instead of quitting just becos one think we have no future or a incompetent leader here.
Secondly migrating elsewhere only give more chances for new immigrants to replace us.
Our elderly or local Singaporean will be boss around by these new immigrants.
Do you want to see our citizen being boss around?
No one give a damn if you migrate and maybe happier cos less kpkb.
You lose out if you migrate.Only irresponsible one will leave their love one behind to suffer.
Together we protect one another.
Be smart.Stay put .
Even after you put back all the $$$$$ you've taken out for property + accrued interest, you can still continue to put in money into CPF.
ReplyDeleteLet's say you took out $1M (including the accrued interest) for property. Even after you put back this $1M into your CPF, you can still continue to put in money.
Even if you already have the max amount in SA or RA, you can still top up into OA.
OA has no max limit.
But there is a contribution limit ... currently it's $37+K per year.
If you're:
1) 55 & above.
2) Already meet the FRS or BRS + the Basic Healthcare Sum.
3) Not working.
-- Then you can deposit & withdraw from your CPF-OA anytime like a bank.
** If you're still working, you can only withdraw 1X a year.
** But if you're not working, you can withdraw many times a year.
** You don't need to withdraw all your excess CPF, just take out what you need & leave the rest inside earning at least 2.5% to 3.5% interest.
THIS IS THE TECHNIQUE USED BY RICHER OLDER SINKIES.
Most Sinkies don't know becoz they're too kumkong chasing after high-priced properties or scam get-rich-quick schemes.
U never emigrate and thinking you are emigrating to greener pastures. Once you do that, you are stuck with ang mor government. It is not greener pastures. When you walk out of your condo, the teens might not behave according to your wishes. There are beer cans around at night even on trains in Australia.
ReplyDeleteU never fight an enemy by running away and thinking someone else will do the fighting for you.
Join the enemy if you are scared of them. Fight the enemy if you are against. Never runoff and keep saying you are fighting.
Those wanting to emigrate, they should not do it when at advanced age. This kind of decision is outright illogical.
Pap is not your enemy. Opposition is not your slave. You need to think for yourself what you want and live on. Emigrating is not on based on a reason you dislike the govt. You like the Australian govt? Wait till you find out, you are already 8 hours flight away, no U turn.
Not many will share this kind of decision: shooting on own feet and called it smart.
Its like animal farm here. Chasing away the white farmer and the pigs ruled the farm with iron fist. Should petition to be a state in usa, uk, or au. At least better than being ruled by pigs. No more bully by matland or indland. Sinkies never did ask for independence. Long live the Queen!
ReplyDeleteMaybe becoming a state in usa, some sg descendants can even become usa president one day! This is a mad world!

Why are there no street protests? Why Hong Lim Park has such pathetic turn-outs all the time? Why Opposition Parties not ready to be government? Why allow the foreigners to keep coming in to rob your jobs and fuck your maids, girl friends, daughters, sisters and mothers?
All Oppositions Parties should closed down and not waste their time on these hopeless Sinkies. Let the PAP have 100% mandate and Parliament seats. And stop talking about trying to change the government, telling others not to surrender, to stay on and fight, when you don't even want to dirty your own fingers?

ReplyDeletePoints taken. I just have to dismiss the myth that is being spreaded and repeated by the IBs that the 70% are all doing well and better than the 30%. Even the IBs here, many are scrapping for a living but pretending to be doing well.
There are many notables in the 30% that are doing extremely well eg Lim Tean, Professor Tambyah, Tan Cheng Bock just to name a few.
In percentage terms, there is a higher percentage of people doing well in the 30% than the 70%. Just because they don't agree with the govt and wanted a stronger opposition does not make them losers.
Totally agree with you uncle. Only the gian png would stop so low to be IBs here to make a living. Those really doing well would not want to tarnish their names or lower themselves to play the hideous and shameful role of IBs.

As What Community And Development Minister, kudos to him bringing gian png sinkies and his kakis to feast on durians in Matland.
On the blood monies from those who paid ransom exorbitant charges by their Grassrots and Grassloots members who held exhibition sales on their constituency which on the land as owned by the citizens.
The proceeds they collected spend lavishly on their own cronies and ball carriers to have feasts which God Willingly gave them stomach cancers.
These are chiak ark monies. With the blessings of their own Gate Keeper, they even had priority clearing the Immigration and Customs at the check points wheras others got to queue for hours, even though they were first in line.
And the daft sinkies still worshipped them as Gods.
Singapore is one of the easiest places on this wonderful planet to be happy, satisfied and enjoy a comfortable level of moderate wealth (or more if you go for it and wanna worker even harder and smarter).
ReplyDeleteSingaporeans are also the world's champion complainers. They are easily pissed off if their world doesn't "conform" to the Utopias each of them hold in their minds. Also, they are fucking awful at adapt and overcome. Given the fact that all males have received military training, I am lost for an explanation. I would have thought the compulsory military experience would make at least or men-folk TOUGH. Dudes, what the fuck happened?
Anyway, I hope these sad people find their good vibe sometime soon. Life is too short to be miserable for any length of time.
P.S. After years and years of trying to convince Singaporeans (you can search my old posts) that an voter-ELECTED president was a horrible, terrible idea, I feel (sadly) vindicated. I must part with a scolding though:
You dumb fuckers got "hoisted by your own petard" (to paraphrase Shakespeare) Should have left things as they are and allow parliament to decide who the president should be. Now, what a shitty, stinky, unrecoverable MESS.
At least with the parliamentary choice, you could have pressured your MPs....who's standing in the parliament is more or less "equal"----at least they have more "clout" than Ali-Muthu-Ah-Chai-Keanu fuck-spider voting-citizen.
You all damn kotek lah! The cheng hu main your pantat betul betul. 🤡
