Lim Tean’s speech at Hong Lim Park

For the link to Lim Tean's speech at Hong Lim Park on the Protest against abuse of power on 15 Jul 17 please go to TRE and read this article, 'Lawyer Lim Tean’s speech at Hong Lim Park on 15th July'. (Somehow unable to put the link here)

The 30 minute speech gave a good insight on what had happened in Parliament and what is next to this episode raised by Hsien Yang and Wei Ling. Though Hsien Loong and his camp in Parliament gave the impression that everything had been properly addressed and all the allegations were unfounded and the case is closed, Lim Tean's speech called for a commission of inquiry to be initiated by the President whose two major duties are the safeguarding of the nation's reserve and the integrity of the govt.

The case is anything but closed in the eyes of many Singaporeans. And it looks like Act 2 Scene 1 has just started with the revelation that the AG’s office is looking into a private facebook post by Li Shengwu. Wei Ling has joined the play and questioning AG’s role and interest in a private correspondence. Someone squealed and this private mail is no longer private anymore. It is now all over the media.

Looks like the ball is now in the court of the AG office, to decide if there is a case to proceed on.

  2. The story of this family dispute came from the unwillingness to comply with the late strong man s will, stated in ink printed words, "demolish" the property.

The question of certain position misused power requires the courts to rule it out if there is and was.

The allegations of misuse of power was open in media. The ball is at the other side of the court. No taker wants to challenge the allegation by suing.

So which side voters want to bet?

  3. Used to think that the President's role is just ceremonial, but after listening to Lim Tean's speech, realized that an independent-minded President is very important, as he can and should call for a Commission of Inquiry when there's allegations made against public officers . . .

The AG Lucien Wong was the the PERSONAL LAWYER of PM Lee Hsien Loong until January this year when he was made AG through PM Lee's recommendation to President Tony Tan Keng Yam, who has been a PAP Inner Circle Member for donkey years, before erected as the President. He was also the DPM for donkey years. He was given the secretive, lucrative and prestigious appointments of Chairman of GIC (controls and uses our money) and Chairman SPH (controls the mass media). Is it even possible that he would ofnot approve Lucien Wong for the AG appointment? The present world-renowned saga of the FAMILEE FEUD when the integrity of the government and the honour of Singapore are at stake, seems to have no consequence to him. He did not even open his golden mouth to say a few words or use his Office to mediate, nor did he bothered to convene a Presidential Commission of Inquiry, which is the ONLY RIGHT THING to do.

Therefore, can we accept with conscience that there is no conflict of interest in the appointment of Lucien Wong as the AG?

The tortoise's legs and tail are beginning to expose themselves, is it not?

  5. Sue is the word for action. Which ever the party, alleged to be in wronged action must sue. Otherwise there is truth in it, according to Lau go. Lau go said in parliament. Not suing was because "he is my brother".

Voters accept such principle of laws?

One must not buy Lim Tien s examples that US is the supreme land requires all NOT above the laws. The principle is: not like what he said. The principle is fairness, or justice to Lim Tien.

There must be fairness. When someone said or implied a person was corrupted, he did sue him, even the accused was a kid young man beginning his life. When the sibling put the words "lies", "abuse of power" openly, they are not sued.

Voters buy lau go s reason? "he is brother, or he is not brother must be sued"?

Fairness is the word. Only fairness is convincing to voters. Only one can administer fairness, voters can trust him. Otherwise, no trust to such "my brother" principled politicians.

Very interesting to note why the Empire is targeting Li Shengwu.

Looking from a broader perspective in depth, the issue is not so simple at face value.

This particular incident brings back old memories.

I remember back in the late 70's and early 80's, when LKY gave indication that he wanted to make LHL as the next PM to succeed him, Dr Goh Keng Swee, Dr Toh Chin Chye, S. Rajaratnam, EW Barker and Devan Nair were strongly against the idea. As a result, all these strong men old guards were purged. They were replaced with subservient people like Howe Wing Chong and money-minded people like GCT. So Dr GKS was taken out of MINDEF because LKY wanted the Defense Minister and Parliamentary Secretary for Defense to look after and protect LHL, whi was then studying at Cambridge.

This incident makes me suspect, with high probability, that the Empire sees Li Shengwu as a potential threat to challenge Li Hong-Yi to the Throne. The media attempts to paint the picture that Li Hong-Yi is not interested in politics. The Dishonourable Son has "indicated" in Parliament and in public that it is absurd to suspect that he wants to set up his Dynastic Rule (then why openly announced that the present system is a Natural Aristocracy?).

In politics, winning is the name of the game. Control of organs of state is the means to blame and tame. Deceptive maneouvres are the tactics to defeat the lame. Grabing power is ultimate aim.

So, don't just look at the trees and miss the forest!

  7. Virgo49 is 1oo% correct!

    What can you do now?

Only kpkb here and kpkb there!

    At the end only lan-lan!

To many, PAP is likely to get 80% with both H and A going back to PAP at the next GE!

    Singapore Boleh? PAP Boleh?

The situations now are so pressing to sinkieland s survival then those days when GKS was around overseeing the economy.

To voters now, who can bring sinkieland against the odds namely, the developing Malaca port, the Kra Isthmus Canal, the high speed rails taking away business from Thailand to Myanmar, and the missing links against Hong kies competitions to gain share in SEA countries businesses.

Hong yi or not has no bearing in young voters minds. The dragon can put him there. Can he turn situation around? Its like Trump s kind of job now at a very small scale, similar to London mayor s jobs. Can this yi turn the small place around to provide jobs for citizens, to bring industries with higher quality against China and Hongkie on services?
This place is flooded with low class workers and managers from 3rd world. Now it is competing with higher class workers and managers from China.

Hong yi does not even manage a firm like alibaba, or foxconn (hon hai). He can turn the weakening situations around? GKS was able to. Not hong yi. This is the fact. Voters will decide. Not the dragon. If dragon wins, its pap s loss.

  9. Other democratic countries implement maximum one term (Philippines) or two terms (Indonesia, USA) for President and then ineligible for reelection, not without reasons - to prevent the Office descending into tyranny and dynasty!

We should have maximum one term for PM in Singapore!
