When globalisation makes a sham of national policies

The left ball did not know what the right ball is thinking. This is what happens when national policies were cooked without being mindful of the harm of globalization could do to undermine national policies. A very good case is the influx of foreign fake graduates to replace Singaporean graduates in the economy when there is a cap of 30% put on each cohort for admission to local universities.

The statestimesreview has an article that succinctly exposed the stupidity when the two policies are in conflict and as usual, the daft Singaporeans would bear the brunt of the stupidity. Here is an excerpt from the statestimesreview.

‘Minister Ong Ye Kung: Only 30% of Singaporeans allowed to be degree holders, the rest go Poly ITE

http://statestimesreview.com/2017/05/04/minister-ong-ye-kung-only-30-of-singaporeans-allowed-to-be-degree-holders-the-rest-go-poly-ite/

Education Minister Ong Ye Kung made the revelation today (May 4th) at a forum discussion in Switzerland, and also said the policy is to prevent degree holders flooding the market like “some Asian countries”:

“In Singapore, this means capping the proportion of graduates in a cohort at about 30 to 40 per cent, while training the rest for vocations in various industries. This approach has ensured there was no glut of graduates in Singapore, and kept graduate unemployment low, unlike in some Asian countries.”

In the meantime, foreigners qualifying for Employment Pass (EP) will need to hold a minimum Bachelor Degree – even when the degree is from a village university in Philippines, China or India. EP visa holders are also guaranteed a Minimum Wage of S$3,600, while there is no Minimum Wage for Singaporeans…’

.
The article provided more details of the adverse consequences on Singaporeans that ended up as fools and victims of the two policies. How could this thing happen for so long and no one could see how wrong it has become and no one thinks it is important enough to put it right? We restrict our own talents from entering universities but brought in all the craps and fakes to replace them. We pay the craps and fakes better salaries while our 'bypassed' talents ended up at the lower end of the food chain.

This is definitely a crime against our very own citizens. The whole thing is so silly, beyond comprehension, totally irresponsible.

  1. Good, good. The daft Sinkies who supported the Papies wholeheartly, when their children comes to the Jobs Markets can only worked ad hoc, part time, contracts or be unemployed.

Anyway, the parents are rich enough to support them withour working.

Have a ex PSA neighbour who lived in the penthouse above our block.

Sang high praises of what the PAP had done in just one generation of us.

All.my siblings are doing fine. Our chikdren in polys and unis.

What's more you can ask the PAP?

I said our generation might benefits as our time is different from the younger people.

But you must thinks of your nexr generation's future.

Aiya, we have confidence in our children's future under the PAP.

Wait till the time when the children are as above when they start looking for employment or their now employed children became unemployed.

Then no tears will come out from their eyes.

MOT, you will see this happening.

Some people don't see coffins no shed tears.

  3. In New Zealand and China their PM / president warn their colleagues that politics is a calling to serve the country and the people and if any of the politicians think parliament is a place for them to make money and enrich themselves they should resign and leave parliament forthwith. But it is so different in some South East Asian countries the PMs are so busy promoting themselves and of course with promotion it entails an upsurge increase in their salaries. These PMs, ministers and MPs of these South East Asian countries have no shame at all. They worship only one God - The Money God

    Craps and fakes?

Then why did the bosses want to hire them?

Restrict our own talents from entering universities?

Then why did 70% still voted for the PAP that did this to our own talents?

Not all are craps and fakes lah. Uncle RB is just exaggerating only to get more readers and agitate people.

If 70% are not, it is very good already if can make 70% money for the bosses.

If Sinkies are hired, maybe the bosses can only make 30% money because Sinkies are too expensive and some more not pow wu pow chiak (guarantee have and good) one.

I am a Sinkie boss and I am speaking from actual hiring experience. Of course I also voted PAP even though I think PAP is not that good as before, but still better than opposition.

They may not believe in LKY's Prosperity Gospel but for sure and seriously, they believe PAP is still better than a govt formed by the current Sinkie opposition.

Just look at the opposition managed WP Town Council AHTC. Can't even get something as basic as their finances right after 6 years! Like that how to govern a country?

And they are the strongest some more, and the only opposition party having MPs in Parliament.

And if the strongest is like that, what more the rest?

Daft Sinkies are not as bad as Dumb-Ass Bootlickers who try to act smart by using stereo-type fixated logic to explain off the obvious uncaring, inhuman cheap-labour flooding of the Singapore Jobs Market for the sole dubious objective of GROWING THE GDP AT ALL COST, a glaring untenable long-term economic goal inspired by overwhelming greed of the Highest Order in this World. Pathetic!

    A tragedy.

A tragedy for daft Sinkies suffering money no enough as no better party can fight and replace PAP to fight and care for them.

As for the smart and rich Sinkies, they are still having good life even though PAP is screw up. And if they cannot, they will emigrate elsewhere for the good life. It has happened, is happening and will continue to happen.

That's why smart Sinkies don't join the Sinkie opposition to make it strong and ready to be govt.

And a tragedy for the Sinkie opposition in general.

Nothing untenable GROWING THE GDP AT ALL COST for PAP, as long as PAP being the govt remains a tenable long-term political goal of PAP.

    ReplyDelete
  16. It is tenable that PAP will continue GROWING THE GDP AT ALL COST.

But whether the GDP can continue to grow is another matter.

But to PAP, doesn't matter, as long as PAP being the govt remains a tenable long-term political goal of PAP, given that Hong Lim Park is quiet and the Sinkie opposition is not ready to be govt.

In fact Amos still in jail in USA u know, and for 6 months already. And if the US govt is successful in their appeal against his asylum, Amos may even be repatriated back to Sinkieland to serve his NS! And kena jailed in USA for nothing!

So still want to be Amos?

That's why PAP knows that Sinkie boy hero Amos will be the first and last Amos. So no more Amoses after PAP and USA kou tim (dealt with) with Amos.

WP cannot even get their TC accounts right? ?

This is a subjective grey matter just because they had paid their managing agents more than the PAP TCs.

Which MA dared to do for Opposition Ward? ?

If they get their people to set up as MAs, they accused them of cronyism.

So far, nothing unbecoming has leak from the TCs of the PAPIES. It's because there is no Opposition MP to bring up matters pertaining to them.

Their own MPs would not be so stupid to shoot their own feet. Further, most agencies related to the ruling government, who dares to bring up any wrong doings??

You DONT be surprised that they have more discrepancies that you can think of.

Only when there is a whistleblower or some one dared to question them of their TC accounts.

What about losing millions in investing or gambling in shares and what Investments Scams.

Why use these funds for these activities? ?

You think if they made gains, they will share with you? ?

    Only increased their benefits.

So don't be brainwashed by them the wrong accounting by WP.

We have to allow and encourage disruptive change. There is clearly scope for it.”
He cited the example of the retail industry where e-commerce is a game-changer, and in the urban logistics and construction industries.
“If we can achieve this – both the bold, disruptive changes and the constant improvements that are part of an innovative economy – we can keep growing WAGES for the majority of Singaporeans,” he added.

    Part 9:

As mentioned in Part 8, the kintergarden route to easy economic GDP growth is to take the capital accumulation route followed by massive "geylang trade" ....... oops ....... leg open big big ...... oops ...... open the flood gate ...... oops ...... massive foreign (mostly fake) talent influx aka exponential population explosion .......

Globalisation was used as an excuse to bring about such (unjust) policies that (predominantly) obliterated the livelihood and thus the future of the lower income and also shattered the rice-bowls of many middle-age PMETs evidenced by the proliferation of ever oncreasing number of licensed money lending shops (popping up like overnight mushrooms after a heavy thunderstorm rain) and the most "HIGHLY QUALIFIED AND EDUCATED" army of work force in the taxi and ride-hailing business .......?

Professionals with good, stable jobs and high income have access to cheap abundant credit with as low interest rates as less than 2%? Unless YEW put a gun to their heads, they will never go to those ever-increasing licensed money lenders littered throughout the centres and neighbourhoods of the heartlands and even in the Central CBD areas with many such businesses having branches and outlets in older buildings in Chinatown, Bugis, .......etc?

With the unabated multiplication of licensed money lending shops across the entire island, it is obvious that there are massive underlying demand supporting the business costs and hefty fat profit margins of such LEEgalised "(semi) loan sharks" as it is NOT an exageration to liken the interest rates paid on some of these loans taken by many low income, desperate, poor heartlanders as comparable to ilLEEgal loan sharks?

How did "GLOBALISATION" ended being used by many POLITICIANS & their CRONY BUSINESSES to widen income inequality across the globe and make the poor even POORER?

    ReplyDelete
  37. The foreigners reading uncle's blog and the silly anti people policies must be shaking their heads in disbelief. How could there be such idiotic leaders running a country and being voted by an even more idiotic population that could not see how their future and the future of their children being ruined by such reckless policies?

    ReplyDelete
  38. Part 10: (...continuing @ 6.01pm)

How is "GLOBALISATION" linked to (unsustainable) easy growth tied to capital accumulation and population growth that exacerbated gaping social inequality and hugely enlarged the social cracks in many countries into massive craters?

Globalisation, in itself, is a rather general term encompassing many dimensions. In broad terms, globalisation encompasses economics, financial, cultural, sports, tourism, etc aspects. In much narrower terms globalisation encompasses (1) Trade; (2) Labour Mobility; (3) Capital Mobility.

Going back to the construction worker (now named as Muthu for easier illustration purpose) and the 5 bulldozers example, starting from 1990, LaoGoa (and his 2G Cohort) embarked on a massive asset inflation drive to generate easy growth and hoodwink sinkies that what GKS can do, he can do better?

Alas, an average HDB 4-roomer that cost under $100k in 1990 was driven to about $350k by 1996 at the height of LaoGoa policies man-made property bubbles ........

In economic jargons as well as NATIONAL INCOME ACCOUNTING (aka GDP computation), the construction of properties is parked under Investment (I) under the sub-category of "Residential Investment".

The other 2 sub categories of the Investment (I) component in the GDP computation is "Capital Formation" (such as factories, machineries, office equipments, factories, bulldozers [ah ...... the ones Muthu using], computers, satellites, telecommunication systems ..... etc) and "Inventories".

In short, if massive investments are channelled to productive capital formation, it is a good thing as a factory built can generate jobs and economic growth for many years to come and help boost employment and boost standard of living through workers having jobs and regular income etc.

But other than a one-time off of adding to GDP numbers, what "PRODUCTIVE" use does residential investment generate in the economy?

Driving growth through properties and thus residential investment is NOT without future risks and livelihood-wrecking consequences?

Look at Spain ........ what was the root cause of their problems since 2010?

Spain, together with Portugal, Ireland, Italy and Greece are labelled "PIIGS" by the financial world and media since 2009/ 2010 as "PIIGS" actually stands for "Portugal, Ireland, Italy, Greece and Spain" ........

So, what has driving growth through residential investments and formenting property bubbles got to do with Globalisation, people's livelihood and the masses?

What has it got to do with Muthu (the construction worker from India in this example) and the 5 bulldozers (for illustration purpose)?

What has it got to do with the past 117 years of growth history across the globe, the causes of growth and the Inada Conditions mentioned in Part 8?
