The Second China Card

20 years ago the mantra of the day was to have a China Card.  Major western manufacturers must have a production base in China to take advantage of cheap labour, cheap land and the skilled Chinese workforce to lower production cost. This China Card gave the international manufacturers an unassailable advantage to compete in the world market. The European and American manufacturers have become uncompetitive against the Japanese, South Koreans and Taiwanese and the Chinese in producing goods for international consumption due their high labour and production cost at home. Having goods manufactured in China allowed the western manufacturers to regain the comparative advantage to sell to the world.

This old China Card no longer works like before. The new world market, the largest consumer market, is in China. 1.4 billion Chinese are moving up the economic ladder to be consumers of better quality goods and services. The growing middle class is creating a huge demand for higher end goods and services. The buying powers of the Americans and Europeans have diminished and so is the buying power of the Japanese. The big consumers are the nouveau riche Chinese in China. The current wave of China tourists buying overseas would not last for long when China is making all the goods they desired.

The new China Card is to produce in China and sell to the growing affluent Chinese market. Many western and Japanese manufacturers have the foresight to seize on this opportunity to be in China to sell to the Chinese consumers. There will be more and more joint ventures with branded high value foreign manufacturers partnering Chinese businesses to manufacture and produce for the Chinese market. Without this ticket many of the western manufacturers would go the way of the dinosaurs, uncompetitive and without a big enough market to sell to.  The Americans can try to produce at home and sell to the Americans at American prices but would not be able to export anything to the world at a competitive price.
The new China Card is the way to go to survive.  The new China Card is the passport to the world’s biggest consumer market. A new partnership to make and sell to the world’s biggest consumer market in China will mean profitability or heading towards oblivion for the manufacturers of quality consumer goods and services. This is the new challenge and new normal of the 21st Century.

  1. If we were to have capable and competent leaders like the Leaders of the Yore, Sinking Land would have the Singapore Card now.

The Current Generation would be First class Engineers, First Class Managemnt Porfessionals in All fields.

With the vast resources both in wealth and education, the Singaporeans should be in a higher plane of sophisticated work force instead of now aiming to be hawkers, taxi drivers etc.

Instead they betted on the wrong soft policies and now Sinkieland is heading to ruins.

Only the blood sucking elites can have the means still to survive.

Their Fellow comrades who built up the country with their fellow fore fathers left to suffer.

  6. lf Johor or better still Malaysia open up to Sinkies to settle there, both Malaysia and Sinkies stand to
    gain much.
Many Sinkies will buy property and operate business there, in Johor and elsewhere in Malaysia. Sinkies will be happy with bigger house and much lower cost of living and Malaysia will develop better economically and in infrastructure.

  11. Gone with the days for singapore. It missed the great chance to lapse forward when it had a group of singaporeans entrepreneurs venturing into all kinds of business in their second generations after the founders. One post mentioned a bar kwar shop was good example. It was the second generation educated sons or daughters effort to enlarge the business, not the old founder who created the shop. It is similar to one old man passed his power to his son. In business like bar kwar, there can be manually made meat paste putting under charcoal fire. There can be machine made paste. But the burning part was always done at shop house to attract customers. Therefore to run such business, rental of shops and the factory floor is the main cost cannot vary. A factory floor of half football field is need space, 30,000sq ft is around $60,000 per month rental. Once that is committed, the heavy cost is the freezer paying electricity charges. That can easily cost pub bills $40,000 fixed. Therefore to star a bar kwar shop, its $100,000 fixed before hiring staff.
There were many such factories making all kinds of products in singapore. But the number is getting fewer. Reason: rental and electricity both are expensive. Manpower is thus the solution. When no levy, these firms want foreigners, at $300pm salary, not including meals and lodging. Of course, local cannot smell the golden opportunities.
Local can only participate in such factories if if they go with machines, from washing grinding mincing mixing to weighing, checking bacterias, to packing and delivering.

But the son who took over power allowed indians and pinoys and those days prc, to do the jobs manually. They were cheap labor making only $500pm salary without meals. The son was proud to have economic growth at 10% as population kept increasing suddently and jobs were filled up quickly by issuing work pass. It ended with taxi queuing for customers as jobless locals started to learn new skills to drive taxi, even they were managers. There were indians managers taking over the firms cheaper salaries, with indian workers, indian supervisors. Then this kind of bar kwar shops bound to close shop. The bar kwar taste funny, sometimes salty sometimes no salt etc.
Real as sometimes we taste at fast foods chains, the taste was terrible, and some found insects inside.
Quality is not consistent, from foreign workers who came from villages, and not trained in hygienes, or foods substances when mixing especially mixing the chemicals. Close shop is the fate because local consumers can learn about the tricks of these firms very fast. Even vege washed with chlorines, vege not washed, they also knew through handsets. Not only the failure of quality caused by foreign workers was a real reason. Foreign workers turned out not cheap when they tried to squeeze on over time at 1.5 times salary rate.
High rental with high foreign workers number with high over time charges, and poor quality of products sold to the market was the failure of this cheap labor model.
The son s concept of running lowest labor cost factories in a most expensive rental city failed. Many factories have empty tenants, ie ghosts. This is the current situation. A lot of space are unproductive. Thanks to the son s great stupid idea.
Not only that, bar kwar depends a lot on china tourists as local only buy the products near new year as gifts. The son told china to follow international laws to give up the ownership of south china sea islands. Of course, china listened and kwai kwai not to offend the son. But china people cannot tahan, those islands they already own since world war two. So china tourist do not come group tours to take picture at the merlion anymore. Bar kwar shops have to have year round cheap sales.
However, locals have no disposable income due to jobless, replacement by foreigners, or stagnant salaries with higher flat prices. They do not buy bar kwar even cheap sales.
No way out due to the stupid son s policies. Only benefiting foreigners working here. Not locals, yet voters still vote for him.

  13. There is no doubting the power of the Chinese consumer. (Or Indian/Indonesian for that matter, but we're discussing China).

I have friends who make $300-500 per day just buying baby formula from Aussie supermarkets and shipping them off to China in the post or by courier. They take orders by WeChat/WhatsApp. Apparently many Chinese parents don't trust the local formula, so they pay premium for the "trusted" Aussie stuff. Of course no one pays stupid Aussie taxes on their earnings...fuck that shit.

China's market for consumer and capital goods is huge and growing....now a little more slowly due to global financial conditions.

However, one has to be "smarter" than the Aussies. Australia went fucking bonkers from the long commodities boom, mainly fueled by the rapid development in China and her need for raw marterials, food and services. However when there was a serious downturn in China, all the mining in Australia collapsed. Iron ore crashed from well over $100 per ton to below $60. Close shop lah...go home sleep.

Never being the cuntry known for "foresight", Australia as a nation had no contingency plan to deal with a post-mining scenario. The Aussie govts are useless, and the Aussies just elect some suckers to look after the cuntry, while the rest of them are getting high and partying on the beaches.

Well now they are in a situation where the new graduates cannot find jobs, whilst they are accruing interest on their student loans. Ah, an all too familiar scenario facing the young college-aged around the world...unless their cuntry still has "free" tertiary education.

But wait...there's more. Unemployment has been growing in Oz Land, property prices have fallen despite the extra gas of "money printing", state and federal govt debt is RISING, credit ratings are FALLING....all because Australia tried to ride on China's back to prosperity, and had no plan for "what-comes-after".

That's the danger of cuntries focusing too much on their "China Card", and not allowing some resources to develop other new stuff in their respective domestic economies.

I prefer economic downturns and "doom and gloom" to euphoric booms where people just lose their minds and go fucking nuts, becoming more arrogant in the process....so 2015 and 2016 have been spectacular years for me in Oz (and Singapore). When values and prices are depressed, stuff becomes cheaper to get done. Damn good. People become desperate, and they will accept LESS money for doing their over-fucking-valued work, which happily can be done by MACHINES in the very near future.

  20. @ "puk-puk-puk chicken" 1056

I am no longer in the "chicken" business. I used to sell real estate in the 1980's and I used to take prospective Asian clients for fucky-sucky, and at that time illegal casinos. Needless to say, I garnered a reputation for the "go to guy" for many Asian clients, a few developers. At that time the price was around $150-200 (and upwards) for a super good time with a local....no bareback, rubberised cocks only.

No it's not Geylang, different thing lah. More "value-added". For r.g. you could request "fantasies". And they have specially designed and furnished rooms for your fantasy. You could even request to bring your girlfriend. Once me and a female colleague (she's bisexual, ex-Malaysian, divorced) decided to go after we had a few drinks. So we had a wild threesome. Next day all "forgotten" back to professional working relationship.

I'm told New Zealand is more happening than Oz. They are definitely more "sex positive" there.

    >> If at 70 yrs old now, retired and still not a millionaire, I will never be a millionaire. <<

Nonsense lah. If you're still breathing and able to move around---like any 70+ people still can---you still have a chance to crack the big-bucks.

As I tell all my post-60 friends: if we can hang on for at least another 20 years, we might be able to live fulfilling and active lives well past 100.

People like Aubrey De Grey treat the human aging process as a disease, which means that all we have to do as a species is to find cures for this disease which afflicts us once we reach adulthood.

To me the biggie is dementia, Alzheimer's dementia and the progressive dementias in particular where presently there is no cure, and the disease just worsens until death eventuates.

So if we old-fucks can hang on for 20 years, hopefully don't get dementia or a fatally incurable condition, or suffer trauma like victim of allahu-snackbar ISIS bombing, truck mayhem or beheading...then we have a chance to live beyond 100, start new careers and make several billion dollars.

Who knows, the world's first TRILLIONAIRE might be a person who has "conquered" aging and hung around long enough to use their 100+ years of experience, cunning and guile to make the biggest pile of filthy-dirty-sexy money humankind has ever known.

You see, there is always HOPE! (aka probability of events occurring in your favour. Mathematics lah.)

WOW! I had no idea the prices were so high.

All my data is from mid-1980s, 30 years ago when I was still a hot young lion, hungry immigrant, embarking on a cut-throat corporate journey. That was the 80's everyone flying high. Anyway you're talking about "escorts". I used to take my clients to brothels and massage parlours---definitely lower down on the scale of P4P (Pay for Play)

In the escort world, especially in cities with casinos, the top-end can charge 5k-10k per hour.

Anyway I have long departed that corporate scene of aggressive office politics, back-stabbing, making side-deals, coke-sniffing and throwing money around just to make your colleagues jealous, fearful or gain their "respect", and "buying" the consent of women who would never fuck you if you didn't have the money. The youngsters who crave that lifestyle are welcome to it. 🤣

Either that or hang out with Russians. To me, the guys are the most hard-core party animals on earth.

    WP s statement:
"When the July 2016 report by KPMG on AHTC came out, AHTC ordered a 100% check on the $60m direct journal entry and dummy code issues.

Some people jumped prematurely on the possibility of fraud and fictitious payments without waiting for the results of the audit.

When no fraud and fictitious payments were found, the speculators kept quiet.

Premature speculation, especially when done by influential people, may pervert the course of justice by shaping investigations. " frm main media.

Coming from a highly political personality who happened to have pro-actively engaged in hammering and going all out to discredit WP on the AHPETC issues should really make one, if not all, to take it with double pinches of salts, is it not?

If a person, without being paid by the millions of dollars of taxpayers' money, is unable to willingly be un-corrupt for all intent and purposes in serving the public, does not person has any more moral standing to even utter a single word about corrupt subordinates who are not paid by the millions of dollars in their jobs?

If ministers, without receiving millions of dollars of taxpayers' money in salary, are shy of talking with millionaire businessmen or foreign dignitaries with dignity, what dignity and integrity do these ministers have left?

Well, 70% of the Daft Sinkies' Market think they are still worth their votes! (That is the first card of Singapore.)
