Haze- Saying something good about Jokowi

Actually I wanted to write something positive about Jokowi and his team tackling the haze problem last month but had to hold back when haze struck again. Two weeks had passed and the situation is not that bad after all if one is to look back last couple of years around this time. Haze would have engulfed the island by now and for a month at least if the Indonesians have not done something positive to improve the situation. Since August, we only have a few bad days but still tolerable, thanks to the effort by the Indonesians in what they are doing.

We should not expect the haze problem to go away overnight. This perennial problem was allowed to build up over the years through neglect and tiada apa attitude on both sides, allowing the culprit to think they could get away with murder. The Jokowi team has been on it only a few months and must admit there are clear signs of improvement and we could breathe easier. If the condition can be maintained and better in the next few months, we must send a thank you note to the Indonesians. They meant business and are doing everything they could to curb this annual problem facing the neighbouring countries.

Yesterday the Indonesia pulled out another trump card to make sure the people on the ground, the small plantation owners, understand the seriousness of the haze. The nation’s top Muslim agency was brought in to issue a fatwa against burning forests and making a profit from it. Both are declared as haram, against the teachings of Islam. How much more can we expect the Indonesians to go to control and manage this problem?

This is the first time the Indonesians are putting money where their mouth is. They are working at it seriously, conscientiously. Give them a bit more time and the haze problem is likely to be a problem of the past.

Thank you Jokowi and the Indonesian haze management team.

    RB

Could be. But then PAP would also not have got 70% votes in GE 2015 if PAP have not done something positive since 2011 to improve from the 60% (lowest ever) it got in that year? Can use the same logic or not?

  2. Yes! Jokowi is good for Indonesia!

    Singapore is watching!

    All the best!

  3. Do not forget that the haze affect not just Singapore. It also affects Malaysia.

I remember it was reported that Najib went to meet Jokowi in Jakarta during the haze period last year and after that even held a press conference on the haze with Jokowi.

Did Hsien Loong do the same?

  4. Agree that haze will never go away as it has been a way of life for many indigenous people. Even though they slash & burn, they are doing it for survival and not for profit. As such this would not fall under the fatwal rule of HARAM.

So we will still have haze in the years ahead albeit much lesser. Kudus to Jokowi.

Agree. But maybe Jokowi can stop them of doing it this way for survival. Just like he is trying to stop them from becoming maids in Singapore and elsewhere for survival.

As President, I think he has the political will and power to do what he think is right.

  6. That goes to show that good politicians need not be paid astronaumical salaries to do a good job.

The proof of the pudding is in the eating, not the bragging.

  7. Indonesia is lucky to have Jokowi as President, and more recently Pinoys are lucky to have Duterte.

Are Sinkies lucky to have Hsien Loong as PM? What do you think?

    ReplyDelete
  8. Who actually make all the difference in slash and burn? It is the big multinational companies with big estates the benefit the most. They are doing it for bigger profit, not for survival. They must be too big to touch in the past, with top level connections.

How much difference can a small-patch owner burning some weeds in his garden compare to the thousands of acres of burning done by the big corporations?

  9. Adding a religious dimension into
the Haze Control Measures does show that the Indonesian Authority is doing it's best to stop the Harmful Annual Menace.

On the other hand, DAFT Sinkies are praying for Karma to solve or end the Maladies plaguing Sin. Instead of doing the Necessaries themselves, the Sinkies help to create and abet the Sicknesses of the Leadership and themselves.
Be reminded that if Karma does happen as wish, the Sinkies shall be first to suffer and perish. The ELITES and Aristocrats have got all the Resources for their own safety and Wellbeing.

Sinkies have been told repeatedly by many of the various Aristocrat Rulers to downgrade or rent their homes in order to survive in old age.
What a callous and Sinful call from the Sin Leaders!

THE PAPPIES SHOULD PREFERABLY SACKED BY BEING VOTED OUT IN 2006 GENERAL ELECTION WHEN THINGS STARTED TO GO AWRY AROUND THE EARLY 2000s.
    BUT,
no, the Sinkies chose the Pappies to screw themselves and more chose to do so in the Last 2015 GE.

DAFT Sinkies have forgotten that Lee Kuan Yew, his children, siblings and relatives bought multiple luxurious properties at Nassim Jade from Hotel Property Ltd(HPL) from Developer Tycoon Ong Bengals Seng.
It was later found that discounts were given for the Purchase and there were much misgivings about the
Discounts and Purchases when the News went public.

There was claim that those purchases were for investment. Of course, those who purchased the Said Properties were staying in large landed properties and or high rise luxurious apartments. That includes the Oxley Rise Mansion the Late Lee Kuan Yew stayed in.

Estate Duty was done away with; just years before Mrs Lee Kuan Yew passed away followed by LKY himself more than a year ago.

The Lee Family invested in luxurious properties.
With multi million Sin Dollars Remunerations, so can the Other
    Parliamentarians do likewise.

lt is not too farfetched to say many Sinkie Aristocrats and ELITES own properties and other assets overseas.

Now, our political leaders are calling on Sinkies to downgrade, share by renting out or outright
    sell their homes to survive.

CAN SINKIES SEE THROUGH THE SICK
MIND AND HEART OF THE RULERS?

YES, MAY KARMA COMES SOON TO MAKE
    THE DAFT SINKIES HAPPY,
IF THEY LIVE TO WITNESS THE RESULT THAT IS.

Oh! yes, Zxar Nicholass 11, the natural aristocrat of Russia had to face the eventual consequence of his evil deeds. Where is he and his family now? They were the curse of the Russians. When would USA FBI raid WADA and detained their official as they did to FIFA?

Amusingly, New York Times downplayed the leak and say that they cant mention those banned drug because it would infringe the privacy of US athletes.LOL

New York Times always published private information of Chinese official - Wen Jiao Bao and his relatives.

Wada Leak is as newsworthy and explosive as Panama leak. or Lance Armstrong take banned drug.

Singapore s position is next to Spain. Jokowi envies Singapore s position, so send haze over to discourage tourists to enter Singapore.

Singapore already gave chance: it has zika that has developed close to 350 cases, average 10 cases per day to discourage tourists. Jokowi should keep some haze for next year.

Singapore is rich lah. Just see the amount of debts the government dare to borrow, will scare Jokowi to heart attack.
Singapore is also ready to buy F35A to show to Jokowi it is cash rich. Indonesia can never catch up with the dragon in the region.
