CMIO classification – Greater importance and indispensability

For a long time, there have been calls for the removal of the race classification in our identity card. Some believe that the presence of race in the ID is itself a racist thing, a divisive thing. We are all Singaporeans and there is no need to identify which race we are from. It just increases the awareness of our differences. Do away with it and over time we would become one people, less conscious of our different races. I am not sure if the Americans carry identity cards like us and whether there are similar documents to identify them as Africans, Hispanics, Asians, Middle Eastern, native Indians, India Indians, etc etc.

To those who are rooting for the abolishing of this racial distinction in our ID, they would not be saying the same thing after the constitutional changes on the Elected Presidency come into effect. The minorities would want to be identified as what they are. The Malays and Indians would want to be identified as such. Why?

Being a minority, they have two chances to crack at the post of EP. They could stand for election in the open category. They could also be given a second chance with higher probability in a reserved EP election once every 30 years if they did not get elected. The majority Chinese got only one chance.
What about the Eurasians? They will be most happy to be in the Others category. For in this category the chances are even higher as they are the absolute minority with relatively lesser numbers.  But this could change with the influx of foreigners that may end up in this Others category.

I think children of mixed marriages would now be very pleased if their parents have chosen to put them in the Others category. Hopefully there would not be a big scramble at the ICA registry for citizens to want to switch to this Others category to improve their chances to be an EP.

And hopefully the Others category would stay and not be amended when other minorities claimed they are discriminated and want their own race to be reflected as other minority races to improve their chances and their share for a reserved election to be the EP.

Many parents of mixed marriages would now have to consider this classification very carefully and choosing a minority category or Others would be a favoured choice if they are eyeing the EP. Race category comes with its own privileges, a bit like bumiputras but in favour of the minorities. Would we be creating a different kind of 'bumiputras' in Singapore? The danger about such a change is that it is very much more difficult to remove or unwind the situation once done.  A time bomb in the making.

Now you see why the race category in the ID is gaining importance? It carries a lot of rights and privileges to be an elected EP.  Being classified as Chinese would become a disadvantage when this thing happens.

Looking down the road the population of classified as Others could grow at the expense of the Chinese when mixed parentages opted for Others. The Chinese majority would thus decline in numbers while Others could become an absolute majority.
Race has its advantages, especially the minorities.

Tiok. And provided it suits the agenda of PAP in dealing with their opponents.

And having many foreigners has its advantages too. And provided it can help in GDP growth (suits PAP agenda) and also some Sinkies to make lots of money.

That's why smart Sinkies know how to and can make lots of money under PAP and a whopping 70% even voted for PAP, despite RB kpkb all the time about PAP.

  3. I believe you meant displaying race prominently on ID card . For others option, there is an open text to input meaningful identity . Having race (including others) attributes have bigger pluses (than commission) - categorising, searching, matching ... in many areas . Hands-On Green Matters

  4. But why Cheng Bock want to become EP when EP don't have much, or any, power at all? Doesn't he has lots of money already? At the age of 75, what more does he want? Can he bring all his money (save for hell notes) to his next world after he leaves this one?

In fact PAP indeed became less bad, when they got 70% votes in GE 2015, as compared to 60% in 2011. In the eyes of majority voters, this is viewed as an improvement for PAP.

  13. Race and power. Power ruling over another seems a kind of superiority complex exists in human all the time. Example in France, someone refused to serve a woman wearing Hijab. The latter shouted "i have my right". To me i agree. U wanna wear hijab has nothing to do with me. But not so, to some people, even in sgp.

I encountered more than once someone wrote in allsinstuff she was harassed by ang mor for wearing Hijab. I am not concerned about head dress. I do feel the difference: foreigners and locals.

When looking at the Indians at mrt carrying their laptops in town, i would admire them being foreigners, can work in banks and make lots of money, more than citizens, who mainly doing hawkers or working in sme.

Pap started foreign talents as priority for jobs in sgp, this EP stuff making priority for Malay is even more interesting. Malay or non Malay race, makes a difference when becoming a new citizen. Next is, or can be, to divide race base minister posts. Mp number. Wanna be new citizen, better be Malay. Can people change IC now?

Washington this sgp morning time had a gunman shooting case in a mall. 3 dead. The escaped gunman was a Hispanish. US likes to have lots of immigants, similar to sgp. Killing is inevitable when each race eying for power are on collision course. Will sgp new citizens and old local citizens venture in power struggle? Matter of time. Now can start with Ep, as long as registered as Malay, can go into the race.

New citizens at increasing number, are common at place like Ndp. One guy seated next to me at stadium. He waved the little flag so wide several times towards my face, perhaps to show his super "joy" to me. At his age 20+, he didnt come across to me behaving like NS men: calm, indifference at those rituals. I felt like asking him if he was released from some cell attending Ndp first time. This chap said his pledge so loud that i could hear. To a laupeng. the RITUALS this old boy went through was meticulously, uncommon of nsmen. The differences between Nsmen and new citizens young men were: substances and forms. One did it with real service, of substance. One put up a show.
Of course, i would hope to see this guy next to me shave his hair to be a recruit and be so joyful at Ndp as what i saw.

If these new citizens are on the priority queue as Malay to be EP, i do have a concern. Not born here must not be EP. Otherwise, it s a problem with no real substance of service history to this land. There must be rule to curb on EP on fast track. Vote for opposition to abolish this Ep post.

    Do you think it's true?

  21. Just do some estimations. Share here.

Sgp private credit is around 540 billions.
Sgp gdp is around 370 billions.
Private debt is est about 60.5%@ 370 billions: 223 billions
So credit on consumption debts is around 317 billions.

One year interest 5.53% @ 217 is 20 billions. One month is 1.7 billions. So average working person, let say working people is 2 millions citizens, 1700millions/2millions is 850 per head.

On the average, citizen working per head is paying a big sum of interest on loans and credit, if the average salary is $3000pm.

It means a bread earner can only enjoy $2000 cash to pay for household foods, and education.

Is our average income per working people earning $3k? I think it is only $2000pm. Then many family will have kids education pocket expenses problem if the family is making $2000pm as their loans payment should be about the same such as buying flats and using credits on hire purchase, credit cards, or even car loans.

Citizens are happy to vote for pap. Pap are happy to give jobs to foreigners to bring down the salary increments and ensure retrenchment for citizens.

Citizens will face difficulty to pay for household expenses when interest rates raise further.

The govt public debt is Usd 1.76 trillions. The higher the public debt, the likely higher for the borrowing rate in Singapore. Interest rate can only go up and never come down.

Good luck for the voters voting for bankruptcy, as retrenchment and more foreigners will come in to take away their jobs and their children s jobs. That is pap s policy.
Voters can vote for pap, but their income is decreasing because of pap is policies. Interest payment will be a big problem to take away cash from families.
