Quoting and misquoting LKY’s legacy

On his first year anniversary, it is like LKY returning to life on the TV sets and appearing in every home. You see him, you hear him and you can feel him. He is shouting down into everyone his wisdoms and wise quotes. ‘Go chase the rainbow’, or ‘Do not mortgage the future of your children’.

It is so easy to parrot what LKY was saying like quoting verses from the bible, ‘Whoever believes in me shall have ever lasting life’. Many people are mouthing about living his legacies, and living his wisdoms. But in reality do these people really understand what LKY was saying, what were his intentions?  Or they took his legacy and wisdom and turned them upside down, turning his wise words into mockery, instead of doing good for the people, actually doing more harm than good?

When LKY talked about chasing the rainbow, he was talking to Singaporeans, the young and not so young. He was not talking to the foreigners. He wanted Singaporeans to be successful, to step on what he had built and get a lift to better things in life. It was never about foreigners. It was never about giving our rainbows to the foreigners, allowing foreigners to pluck the low hanging fruits that we grew by our sweat and tears. Did I get this part wrong, that LKY was telling the foreigners to go chase after the rainbow? Did LKY say take the rainbow and give it to foreigners?  I did not read it that way? Anyone thinks LKY is telling them to snatch the rainbow away from Singaporeans to give it to foreigners?

The other part is about not mortgaging the future of our children away. Has anyone done that, mortgaging the future of our children away? No, no one is silly enough to mortgage the future of our children away. But has anyone give Singapore away, to foreigners? How much of Singapore has been given away to foreigners? No, we are only sharing our Singapore and our wealth and assets with foreigners. No one is giving them away. Please take this, it is a Singapore passport to prosperity, to a share of Singapore. It is complimentary.

Did I read LKY rightly or wrongly, in mortgaging the future of our children away? Quoting LKY is very easy. Primary school children also can do that. But understanding him, his intent, and the meaning of his wise words are a totally different thing altogether. One thing that people should not do is to turn LKY on his head, destroy his legacy and abuse his wise quotes or misquoting him.

What have we done to his legacy and his wise quotes?

  1. Chasing the rainbow is just like a wild goose chase, with nothing there at the the end of the chase.

Am I wrong or misquoting someone? Or is someone making a fool of us?

  3. Great interpretation!

Me is just boggles by Sinkies' sentimental attachments to ONE OF THE MOST AND HORRIBLY RUTHLESS MAN IN HISTORY.

CANNOT BELIEVE MY EYES AND EARS WHEN I SAW KINDERGARTEN KIDS LED BY THEIR TEACHER BOWING TO HIM.
For once, I thought there is a new cult in the Making in Sin.

Thought I was wrong in my impression of the Man, however whence a much much younger Sinkie of 17 year old has just as bad an opinion of him. That's it.
A horrible man to the Old and Young was just a horrible man, period.

He is now dust and dirt.
Maybe it's time to forget the Past and look how well his successors perform.
WHAT AND HOW HIS SUCCESSORS PERFORM
    SHALL
REFLECT HOW THEY WETE GUIDED BY THE WHO YOU KNOW. BEAR THIS IN MIND

  4. You find out what seeds a flower has left behind only after it has faded.

In the same way, you will know the legacy a person has left behind only after he is dead.

  6. Wah piang poor sinkies.

Still got to tolerate LKY face everyday, many places.

Luckily in Genting enjoying the cool air. But bit not so cool due to heat wave.

But better than going crazy nowhere to run but hear, see and speak LKY.

    Cheers

  7. I don't know. I may be wrong.

In recent years, everywhere I go in Singapore, I can hear groups
of people speaking languages I have NEVER heard before. I suppose
they are foreigners or new instant Singaporelangs.

    I don't know. I may be wrong.

Our govt is very good and very kind. The govt spend millions trying
to integrate the groups with Singaporelangs.

    I don't know. I may be wrong.

The integration programmes don't seem to work leh! These groups will
gather people from their ORIGINAL countries together and speak their
    own comfortable languages.

    I don't know. I may be wrong.

This may be very very serious in future! A very very serious TREND!

    I don't know. I may be wrong.

Our govt must act NOW! Before it is too LATE too LATE too LATE!

NOW..........Just enjoy tmr long-weekend, Good Friday!

    Cheers.

You don't know him. They know him.
He talked to them, not to you.
They know what he wanted, they know his legacy.

  12. Ok, this is what has to happen:

    1. Parliament needs to legislate the production of an Official Singapore Bible with all of LKY's quotes so people can quote the Great Leeder properly and suka suka misinterpret his words and intentions which will lead to more hostile internet fights between Singaporeans. Anything to stimulate more disharmony in society is just MORE ENTERTAINMENT for me.

    2. LaSalle Arts losers should be conscripted to create statues of LKY in various poses and sizes so that they can be placed all over the island. Changi airport should have a large gold idol...I mean statue so Singaporeans returning can fall on they're knees and thank their god for making Singapore so much better (best in the world) than any other shit bucket cuntry.

    3. Every year on the anniversary of his death, the SAF will kidnap an UMMN...NO official to be made into a human sacrifice, seeing as how Malaysia "sacrificed" Singapore all those years ago.

    4. All school kids and adults in offices will bow to a Lee image or portrait 5 times a day facing Oxley Rise, like Muslims face Mecca during prayer.

    Please feel free to contribute.

  14. Kuan Yew achievemen is because he is lucky to lord over a bucnh of Chinese. Every East Asian society other than N Korea prosper like nobody. Chinese work hard.

I doubt he can also do the same tick with Malay Islamo, or Hindus. Malay Islamo like to shit on minorities, and masturbate themselves that "everyone in Malaysia live peacefully". HIndus are worse. They create dalits even within their own race and create shit collector jobs for dalits.

In fact you do not need to rule Chinese at all as they are all auto-pilot. HK colonial governor use lassez faire.

  15. You are right Veritas.

If every other East Asian society can propser like nobody, it is not because of their having a special leader, but because the people work hard.

And the second thing that I have always wondered is, if Singapore had been as big a country as China or even Thailand, would the development or prosperity be that fast and easy?

Developing even a economic zone alone in China can be as big as developing the whole island of red dot, so prosperity and development must be looked at from the angle of size, geography and location. They have earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, mine disasters and all kinds of problems to contend with when developing, not to mention the hugh population to take care of. So, what is so special about Red Dot's prosperity compared to China or South Korea? Think about it!

  17. Belgium's radical Islam problem originated in the 1960s, when Belgian authorities encouraged mass migration from Turkey and Morocco as a source of cheap labor. They were later followed by migrants from Egypt and Libya.

The factories eventually closed, but the migrants stayed and planted family roots. Today, most Muslims in Belgium are the third- and fourth-generation offspring of the original migrants. While many Belgian Muslims are integrated into Belgian society, many others are not.

Growing numbers of Belgian Muslims live in marginal districts — isolated ghettos where poverty, unemployment and crime are rampant. In Molenbeek, the unemployment rate hovers at around 40%. Radical imams aggressively canvass the area in search of shiftless youths to wage jihad against the West.

  21. Veritas is a chinese chauvinist plus a racist. His overpraise for Chinese and disdain for other races especially Indians followed by Malays can be compared to Hitler who thinks Nazis are the superior while others are scum, especially Jews.

  22. what about you?

  23. We need to call a spade a spade. For example Singaporean Chinese treats Muslims and Hindus best in the universe and least racist, that we must admit. Singaporean Chinese are the only one protecting Shia and Ahmadya against Sunni.

Singaporean Chinese are the only one preventing creation of Dalits. Everyone Hindus migrate, there is dalits created for native. Look at guyana and Trindad and Fiji....etc (more than one place)

So Veritas just speak the truth.

  24. Veritas is called racist because Veritas support good. I cry when I see Grandson Hussein got merciless killed for no reason. I love the household of Prophet mohammad. I would like to organized commemoration on daily basis so that the mistake and crime wont happen again.

    Am I wrong?

    Am I wrong?

Fortunately we have so many good and kind Chinese in Singapore. Everyone who want to remember and cherish victim can come to Singapore to do so. You are all welcome.

For this Veritas is call racist. So let me it. I love grandson huessein and let people call me racist for me crime.

  25. If Veritas wants to believe his race is superior, that's his right. What he has no right is to make insidious remarks against other races. I think that is the crux of the matter.

  26. So, is your race superior or inferior?
Remember, ISD is watching you and your racist taunts.

  27. Still on this superior vs inferior race stuff? Still subscribing to veritas and Hitler's racist rants? So is ISD going after me or you, the supporter of racial divide? ;)

  28. Veritas welcome feel sorry for innocent like Grandson Hussein being murdered. Malaysian Malay want to lock those people who remember grandson hussein, they can always come to Singapore and Veritas house.

Enough is enough. Veritas love Prophet Mohamad. The blood of his grandson make me pain since I study Islamic history.

In Singapore those who love the prophet household will be protect. They will not be harass. People can call Veritas racist for loving Prophet I am ready to martyr.

For those go after prophet household and the lover of prophet household, the world may call you good people. I dont care.

Just call veritas racist for loving Prophet and his innocent grandson hussein.
