MOE, MOM and WDA restructured

The double reporting of WDA to MOE and MOM has been straightened out with WDA now reporting to MOE under Ong Ye Kung. Ong Ye Kung will not be the Coordinating Minister for MOE/MOM/WDA and SkillsFuture training to make sure MOE is training graduates with the right skills for the industries and not ending up skillless, got talent and a lot of knowledge but no employers want to employ them.

The above was yesterday’s news. Today, MOE is overseeing Pre-employment training(PET) and continuous education and training(CET) under a new stats board called Skills Future Singapore(SSG).  The Workforce Development Agency will now become Workforce Singapore, a new stats board under the MOM. It would retain the former role of WDA, ie employment facilitation, career services and industry engagement.  These two stats board would solve the problems of employment faced by Singaporeans trained with skills not wanted by employers.

I really hope it is so simple, train the people with the right skills and the employers would happily employ them instead of foreigners. I am sure anyone with a little commonsense would know the real reasons why our talented young graduates are not employed but foreigners are in demand. And it is not just cheap labour. Cheap labour could be one of the reasons, but there are other more sinister reasons that dumbasses would not want to see.

I bet, even if all our graduates are trained with all the skills employers need and willing to accept competitive pay, they will still be passed over just like what is happening today. I was going to suggest that Ong Ye Kung send an army of teachers and civil servants to the 3rd World countries to find out why they are producing the right graduates with the right skills and talents that our industries and govt agencies are so happy to employ. Of course this is just a red herring when stupidity is the reason.

I am asking the same question aloud once more. Why are 3rd world half baked education system able to produce the workers that a first world city needs? And why are our students paying for a very expensive education, educated in world best universities and did not have the skills ‘OUR’ employers want? If the 3rd world countries are doing the right thing, then I would suggest that everyone in MOE and the world class universities be sacked. They are not doing the right thing, producing unfits, dysfunctional graduates that cannot be used by the industries. And we should send a team of educators to the 3rd world countries to learn from them, from their cheap education system, teaching little but producing the right graduates for our system.

Of course the half baked 3rd world education systems are no match to our world class super expensive system. Then what is wrong? I bet on one knows. That is why they are still scratching the wrong balls without addressing the real problem. If they know what is wrong, dare to face the truth, and stop being stupid, there is no need to waste time setting up two new stats boards to engage in shadow play.

Yes, they said stupidity has no cure. Anyway, let’s hope Ong Ye Kung knows what is happening and could save the day like Boon Wan saving the housing problems by simply building more flats. The reason or solution to Singaporean graduates and PMEs being sidelined and unemployed is so basic and easy, as easy as building more flats. No need to muck around and fighting with shadows. Tiok boh?

Super expensive world  class education producing dysfunctional graduates not fit and not wanted by the industries? And everyone is running around like bull arses flies, looking so busy, and scratching the wrong balls.

And they forgot to set up a COI to study what is wrong!

  2. Our education system, our schools and universities have been attacked and insulted as no good, useless system. Why no one dares to stand up to speak up for our education system, our teachers and professors, that we are good and the attack and insults are uncalled for? Do the ministers also believe our system is shit? By what they are doing, they must believe it so.

Then change the system, change all the teachers and professors. Why other people's education so cheap, so simple, and so good? No need pre employment training after graduation?

  3. Vely soon, red dot will have a Government as enormous as the Imperial Masters of old.

We have vely big shoes to fill, because we are solid first world leaders now. The best there was, the best there is and the best there will be.

How many more ministries, ministers, deputy ministers should we have? Or how many more MPs do we need to fill all those positions? Neber mind just create them because we are so rich we can afford. Cannot afford just squeeze indirectly from the peasants, like making cost of living more and more expensive via biddings for land and shop spaces, COEs, fees etc. The peasants are daft anyway, so they do not realise it.

  6. After a good 15 years of education in Singapore, what this child knows is to memories text and condone to a system. Nothing more, nothing less!!! No creativity, no knowledge gain, and a lot of kiasee, kiasu and kiaboh traits. Who want to employ them?
The third world countries allow their students to run wild with their imagination ending up with a winner takes all mentality. That's why employers need them. This is the facts that everyone should had already known.

  10. This new stupidity will have no end.

They now have coordinating ministers to coordinate the various ministries. Soon, they will have senior coordinating ministers to coordinate the coordinating ministers who are coordinating the various ministries.

Later, they will have a coordinating mentor minister to mentor all the coordinating ministers who coordinate the coordinating. After that they may need a Emeritus Senior Coordinating Mentor and the musical chairs continue on and on. wtf is happening in red dot?

He seems to be trying to import more Aliens from Indonesia into the Singapore workforce.
Are Singaporeans going to lose more jobs?

Singapore to launch a scheme to help companies recruit talents from Indonesia
    ==========================================================================

In a meeting between the two foreign ministers of Singapore and Indonesia, it was said that Singapore companies are interested in recruiting talent from Indonesia while Indonesia will increase its skilled workers to the city state, among them related to caregiver therapists.

Singapore’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Dr Vivian Balakrishnan said in the meeting, “We believe Indonesian universities and technical institutes will produce many graduates with digital skills and we are thinking of launching a scheme, in which Singapore companies – which are looking for talent – will be able to recruit talent here, deploy them here, and provide services for the rest of the world,”

    --------------

I think we need to appoint LHL to act as Coordinating Mentor Minister between
PAP Millionaire Balakrishnan and PAP Millionaire Ong Ye Kung.

    - I suggest we increase LHL's salary for expanding his area of responsibility.

    - we should also appoint one of the current Deputy Ministers to be Chief Coordinating Minister ... to coordinate the Coordinating Ministers.

    - if we appoint enough Coordinating Ministers, do you think LHL will finally have a more coordinated and coherent cabinet?

Why now so many schemes like skills credit funds, WDA so much emphasis on skills training??

Because they knew this Tai Seng Ya Year gonna see a lot of unemployed sinkies.

So best soultion go for skills training lah?

    Got credits, got subisies.

Best way to divert attention and keep daft sinkies happy and occupied.

  15. Sin can afford a president, a deputy president, a vice president, a deputy vice president and a honorary president.
Being one of the richest country in the World, there is too much to count and manage. More to take charge shall ensure the integrity of accountability and not let it be subject to wild imaginations of the peasants which tend to cast much aspersions.
Many peasants are incline to suspicions, wild imaginations and allegations.

Maybe, with many presidents, they can check on each other and the other cabinet members. Ownselves check ownselves could prove to be effective due to rivalry, envy and definitely office politics.
    You know?

  16. Singapore Today Tough Job Market . Same employers (including Career@Gov) are looking for so-hard-to-fit talents such that (online) job postings are automatically refreshed for months (to years) . The eligible (lucky) applicant would be asked to attend (informal) Pre-Job-Interview meeting . The eligible (super-lucky) applicant would be given to-do-list tasks before granting (formal) Management-Job-Interview . Hands-On Green Matters

  17. It's really up to those in power to decide la.
They can create high posts for their own people by having a few to handle the job of one and also creating deputies or posts without portfolio anytime they want.

They can also disallow aliens to work here anytine they want. BUT, they PREFER ALIENS OVER LOCALS.

70% do NOT seem to affected in job or wellbeing, so it must be ok for most sinkies.

  18. The creation of so many redundant positions is to fulfil a political agenda.

It is not really necessary, but by making it so widespread, any other opposition party that, by a freak election, so they claim, comes into power, will find it impossible to fill up all those positions that only the PAP can.

This has been proven many a time, eg the town councils is one perfect example. The HDB can well look after all estates with their massive financial muscle and manpower, but the PAP choose to do it this way with town councils, knowing that this system can be used as a powerful political tool to threaten and fool the daft Sinkies.
