‘Six moving
targets - the same number found in a typical rocket artillery battery - were
destroyed at the same time by the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) during its
Forging Sabre war games.’
Senang Diri
gave a detailed account of this major ADEX in Arizona and how effective and
advance are our air defence forces. Hitting 6 moving targets at one time is a
great feat. In the early years, the exercises will have target streaming in one
at a time to be shot at. Now they are practicing on hitting 6 targets at one
go. When would they be able to hit 10 or 20 targets coming in at the same time?
Or when would they go test a real situation scenario where the enemy would
throw in their one hundred attack aircraft all at one go?
The
Taiwanese shrank in fear when the PRC said they would rain 1000 missiles onto
Taiwan at one go. The American Naval Carrier Group Commander and his 10,000
crew would equally shrink their balls if the Chinese were to fly 200 DF21s or DF26s
at the same time at the aircraft carrier when they only need on hit to sink a
carrier. How are they going to block a rain of a few hundred missiles? What
kind of defence umbrella can shield them from such a heavy downpour? Iron Dome
or Iron Net full of holes?
In an
exercise scenario, you can programme the enemy to send in the number of targets
at your own choosing. A smart enemy, actually no need to be smarter than the
average guy guarding the sky, will want to send in all they have to saturated
the defence system to a point of jamming or confusing the defenders and
stretching whatever limited resources they have.
And not sure
if they have added further sophistications like electronic jamming by the
attackers, flares, evasion and decoy attackers? In an exercise scenario, the
enemy is supposed to be dumb, flying straight and level to be intercepted and
hit by the defence weapons. And the
defenders are safe and sound and allow to do what they wanted and not under
stress of being attacked or disrupted at the same time. In a real situation,
the enemy forces will be deploying everything they got at the defenders on the
ground as well. A real situation is dynamic, full of deceptions and evasions
and counter defensive tactics involved, no sitting duck scenario. The enemy
attackers would be flying at levels difficult to detect and destroy.
In an
exercise it is so easy to plan the attack and plan the defence as well and
testing the defence at the level it is competent at not the level that will be
challenging or the level of incompetence.
Never
confuse between what is real and an exercise scenario. What would be the real
nature of our external threat? Should we be practicing how to defend against an
attack by Martians or to watch out for real and imminent threats by terrorists?
"Should we be practicing how to defend against an attack by Martians or to watch out for real and imminent threats by terrorists?"
ReplyDeleteRB
I think PAP is not worried about real and imminent threats by terrorists lah. Perhaps they are just like me who thinks that if the terrorists really wanted to attack, they would have already attacked by now.
Just like the Sinkie opposition. If they really wanted to win an election, they would had already announced that they were ready to be govt in the last election.
Maybe the terrorists also do not think it is worth to waste their bombs and bullets on Sinkies. And unlike the Americans, did PAP govt did anything bad in the Middle East?
It is an unwritten fact that our RSAF has the most tech advance equipment in SE Asia. Whether that is matched with well trained personnel that's up to the task in real combat is a different matter. Imagine a newly passed driver in a Formula One race car if you want to have an analogy.

Are YEW referring to the pic of an old, worn out rooster ( haggard hen? ) donning a fighter jet outfit sitting in a F16 cockpit?
Sending shivers and fear down YEWR spine?
OMG?
Rb // Senang Diri’s confidence assurance article, ‘Forging Sabre 2015 XFS 15 is proof of concept for Singapore's deterrence strategy’ is pleasing to read and for the innocent and untrained mind, a big confidence building, to feel very safe and please with our defence capability.//
ReplyDeleteNot unlike the fact that an old (useless) engineering trained JLB is captaining the economy and leading to abyss?
"It is an unwritten fact that our RSAF has the most tech advance equipment in SE Asia. Whether that is matched with well trained personnel that's up to the task in real combat is a different matter."
ReplyDeleteHermit 9:44 am
Not to worry lah. The RSAF most tech advance equipment in SE Asia is to serve as a strong deterrent against a real combat, and to avoid a real combat. Hence the matter of real combat and whether RSAF personnel is up to the task does not arise. Because the enemy will think twice before wanting to have a real combat with RSAF and their personnel.
Blow your trumpet or someone is going to use it as a spittoon? was what Blanchard and Hersey taught in the One Minute Manager (A situational approach to managing people).
ReplyDeleteBut real life combat involving the airforce is much more complex than this simplistic destruction of 6 targets.
If technology in the 70's involving the F-14 Tomcat with their Honeywell Phoenix system could track 24 targets and engage 6 at any one time - and that within the compact space of an aircraft - I am sure that or air defence would be able to handle much much more.
To the cynic who talks about the novice using top class equipment, there is such a thing as simulation.
In Singlish, don't anyhow say things you are not privy to.
In my opinion, our hardware is very very good.
ReplyDeleteBut problem is will any Singaporeans willing to lay down their life for the current system. I see the entire elite class cheating on us in conscription. We never learn the essence from Israeli, and we tweak here and there to let the elites off.
In Israel's IDF the officer served 5 years, non-comms serve 4 years, and men serve 3 years. The non-comms are pick from the men partly through peer review, and officers within the non-comms partly through peer review as well.
By serving 5 years, the officers show that they are capable of giving their youth to the countries. By having a peer review system, it allows the most outstanding soldiers, never mind elites or peasant to ascend.
The SAF are full of shit, and officers serve as long as their subordinate. Then there are elites such as gay pianist Melvin Tan, AWOL and return with red carpet.
Basically SAF system is they want to put scholar and rich man son to be commanders. But these fuckers do not want even the slightest inconvenient, not to mention serve a few years longer.
The unwillingness for our elites to sacrifices and unwillingness for SAF to promote non-elites non scholar peasants to commanders, is what make our army boys a bunch of cynics.
Ask a simple question, what would the enemy do to attack Sin City to make sure the success rate is high? Would they be flying their aircraft to be shot down or would they be doing other things first, like knocking out all the airfields and radar sites?
ReplyDelete"Ask a simple question, what would the enemy do to attack Sin City to make sure the success rate is high?"
ReplyDeleteAnon 10:53 am
That's not the point. The point is that PAP govt strategy is to make the enemy not even want to think of attacking Sin city due to the strong deterrent posed by RSAF most tech advance equipment in SE Asia and also its close relationship with the US armed forces.
And airfields and radar sites need not even be based in tiny Sin City. It can be based even in US or on US naval carrier group. So not so easy to attack, and the enemy will think twice before attacking Sin City. That's why Sin City PAP govt is so friendly with US as this will also serve as a strong deterrent against an attack. And it's not for nothing that 70% voted for PAP in GE 2015, u know.
You stupid or what? You know how easy it is to attack this city and how cheaply? Pointing the guns at the wrong place again. You understand what this means? shouldn't have asked, too deep for you.
ReplyDeleteWOW! Well done RSAF.
ReplyDelete>> Never confuse between what is real and an exercise scenario. What would be the real nature of our external threat? <<
Donald Rumsfeld's famous "unknown unknowns". That's for all threats. External and internal. How would anyone know if there's are already "internal threats" in place but in "sleeper" mode? No one knows.
Nowadays one person, or a small team of a few people can much damage as JDAMs or bunker buster ordnance.
For e.g., we live in a time where you can buy, for a few hundred dollars a KILOGRAM, (military-grade) Semtex or C4 over the internet.
For me? I'm expecting more and more suicide bombings, perpetrated by none other than our goat-fucking, rag-headed sand niggers.
So glad the Russian and Chinese are in The Game now. The bloody Americans---wow, they love the sound of their own voices. Always making, nay BROADCASTING their pithy expatiations of "human rights" and "democracy", and good old-time "freedom and liberty"....right before they drop tonnes of hot exploding metal onto your who cuntry and reduce it to rubble. Then open the big fat moth again and make another bombastic speech about how "successful" you were at dealing with the threat. Mission Accomplished!
The Russians and Chinese do not give a flying fuck about their enemy's "human rights". They'll just do the job and be done with it.
Our SAF has a lot of high tech electronic weapon systems.
ReplyDeleteDo they have a defence against an E-bomb attack?
E or EMP bomb : Electromagnetic Pulse Bomb
-----------------------
E-Bomb Effects
The United States is drawn to EMP technology because it is potentially non-lethal, but is still highly destructive. An E-bomb attack would leave buildings standing and spare lives, but it could destroy a sizeable military.
There is a range of possible attack scenarios. Low-level electromagnetic pulses would temporarily jam electronics systems, more intense pulses would corrupt important computer data and very powerful bursts would completely fry electric and electronic equipment.
In modern warfare, the various levels of attack could accomplish a number of important combat missions without racking up many casualties. For example, an e-bomb could effectively neutralize:
vehicle control systems
targeting systems, on the ground and on missiles and bombs
communications systems
navigation systems
long and short-range sensor systems

@1207:
ReplyDeleteI doubt any viable (non nuclear) EMP weapons exist. Yes, there's on-going experimentation, a few prototypes probably exist, and of course a huge cadre of conspiracy theorists (plenty of idiots on Zerohedge blog) are doing their usual: scaremongering without citing real, testable EVIDENCE.
However, one day, a non-nuclear EMP weapon might be a reality. Until then, relac lah.

No need EMP bomb to destroy Singapore
- Do you think Singapore is already well on the way to destroying ourselves?
- Do you think the rot from within (MRT and now CPF) is past the point of no return?
- what about our three public hospitals?
Funny that expurts are talking about fighter jets and nuclear weapons when clearly waves of refugees and smog can cause big problems for the Tiny Dot.
ReplyDeleteRb and many Others had rightly asked if the Tiny Dot had been infiltrated, is the Trojan Horse already in the Dot??
It shall not be very far from the Truth to say that invasion has taken place and a full military invasion is not needed.
A full military invasion of the Tiny Dot will never be the Ambition of anybody. It can only happen if the Tiny Dot is set upon for taking side with enemy of neighbouring countries.
There is NO purpose and good reason to want an overcrowded tiny dot with zero resources.
It is high time for Stinkies to petition for the abolishment of National Service.
ReplyDeleteSet our young men free so that they need not waste their time and youth.
Those who wish to take up military careers should be given the opportunities and be trained to the highest professional levels and adequately rewarded.
Imagine having tens of thousands of highly skilled professional soldiers protecting the people and the country.
Our young men will be grateful for a career in the army.
Just ask for volunteers and the foreigners would all put up their hands. Then they will take over the country as the defender of the country.
ReplyDeleteTraining, weapon ..whatever should never be expose unnecessary. Only khongcum n howlian will expose their imaginary capabilities and these khongcum shd be charge under official secret act for revealing secret.
