1MDB, Tony Pua and Bilahari Kausikan

The 1MDB affair has spilled over across the causeway with Bilahari calling the Malaysian Chinese delusional. And Tony Pua is furious and rebutted Bilahari just as furiously as he could. Sometimes such spate is unnecessary and uncalled for. When commenting about Malaysian politics, if possible it is better to be more discreet. A wrong word said or used could mean temperature shooting into the empty cans between the ears. For calling the Malaysian Chinese delusional, what did Bilahari hope to gain? I can see that he is trying to tell the Malaysian Chinese to back off and not to invite a May 13. The expected effect is exactly what Tony Pua did, mind your own business and don’t act smug.

In a way I agree with Bilahari that the game is over for the minorities in Malaysia. The Malays have absolute control over everything and their dominance is not only unchallengeable but cannot be challenged. The threat of the Red Shirts running amok, burning down Petaling Street and killing the people there must not to be taken lightly. And the another slightest provocation will lead to it. The fate of the minorities has been sealed long ago since the May 13 of 1969. That is the ultimate weapon and could be unleashed for the right or wrong reason, or for no reason.

The minorities in Malaysia can at best hope to have a more progressive Malay leadership that would work with them and tap on their industry and commercial skill to grow together to benefit the country and people. Pushing the boundaries of race and religion is inviting a massacre. Pushing for a non racial and religious issue would come to the same end. The minorities may want to think that 1MDB is not a racial or religious thing. I too agree with that. It is about bad govt and corruption. But by now they must have learnt their lesson, that anything can be changed into a race and religion thing. Even if it is not, they will make it so.

Malacca could be in chaos if the planned Red Shirt protest is shifted to downtown Malacca. Thanks to the police for killing it. And thanks to the Malaysian court for ruling that there is no wrongdoing in the 1MDB case. Najib’s position is now safe and has no reason for a diversion and a racial bloodbath.

The so called tussle for Malay leadership will go on. Let the Malays choose their leaders. The minorities can only watch from the sideline and give some support, but not to be seen as a force de majeure. They would be taken down, they will be turned into target number one.  The top political leadership will not change hands to the minorities for the next century or forever. That is Malaysia today and likely forever.

There is no need to huff and puff between Bilahari and Tony Pua. Venting anger and letting off steam would not change the realities in Malaysia. This is the new normal of Malaysian politics.

Tiok. That's why Sinkies, like one PAP minister said, really "heng ah"!(lucky) But only where compared to the new normal of Malaysian politics lah.

As for those Sinkie PMETs only good enough to drive taxis or to be retrained to be counter sales people or security guards, then "suay lah"(unlucky), tio bo?

But as for PAP, "heng ah", because such Sinkies are less than 30%. Hahahahahaha.

But then hor, I think this will not be in the interest of the PAP, if this turn out very well for Matland. And if this really happen, I fear Sinkieland and PAP will be "out of job", just like those jobless Sinkie PMETs good enough only to be taxi drivers, sales people or security guards. Who knows, maybe Sinkies might even be tempted to migrate to Matland!

So like that good for PAP or not , u say lah?

This reminds me of the 70% in Singapore.

In a way I agree with "the 70%" that the game is over for the "minority political parties in Singapore".

But I also think the "minority political parties in Singapore" did not deserve to and should not even exist in Singapore.

And this is where it is a different case for the minority races in Malaysia. Their existence is their birthright in their country.

  6. Hi David, welcome to the blog.

The GE2015 is a rude awakening for the opposition parties. It is a wake up call to get their acts together as a united force or disappear for good.

/// Why do you say that "minority political parties in Singapore" did not deserve to and should not even exist in Singapore. " ///

Are you a member of the Hitler's Nazi Party who say that "minority German Jews" " did not deserve to and should not even exist in Germany. "

Are you saying that Singaporean citizens who are member of minority political parties should be sent to the gas chambers and exterminated like the German Jews?

  8. Do Singaporeans who are poor have a voice in parliament?
    - Will PAP speak out for the Singaporeans who are poor?

Here is an example of PAP Minister-Millionaire Dr Vivian Balakrishnan being the voice for poor people in parliament:
"How much do you want? Do you want three meals in a hawker centre, food court or restaurant?"

    http://www.theonlinecitizen.com/2007/04/parliamentary-exchange-between-lily-neo-and-mcys-minister/

I don't think PAP did a good job here in speaking up for the poor.
And that is why we need to vote minority political parties into parliament.

  9. Unwed Singaporean mothers also do not have a voice in parliament.

+ Do you think Unwed Single mothers and her love child are allowed to form a family nucleus to apply for a "subsidized" HDB flat?
+ Are they even allowed to buy a resale HDB flat?
+ Can the the single Singaporean mother claim a "Baby Bonus" from the PAP government?

    And yet if the "love child" is a boy;
PAP government says the poor bastard boy has to do National Service.

Does PAP speak up for the Singaporean unwed mothers and the discriminatory PAP laws?
Does WP speak up for the Singaporean unwed mothers and the discriminatory PAP laws?

Seems like only SDP and Chee Soon Juan is willing to talk about such things in parliament.

Former PAP voter-supporter whose eyes finally opened up BIG, BIG in 1997 when I saw how little help was given to Singaporeans.
Double confirmed when he heard LKY call our Singaporean Pledge "an aspiration".

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6f2Kgj1nhSQ

Doing ohysiotherapy and reading newspaper in parliament.
Please do so at your own time and pace at home.

All dictionaries call a Pledge a solemn promise or an oath.
Is it fair and true to say that "Only the PAP-LKY dictionary calls it an "aspiration" ... and only after 50 years when they no longer need Singaporeans (got Aliens now)."
    True or not?
    I dunno.
    You tell me lah.

  10. @ Ambassador B, via RB:

    >> The 1MDB affair has spilled over across the causeway with Bilahari calling the Malaysian Chinese delusional. <<

I agree with the ambassador at large. Any Chinese who still think they are "equal" under the law and constitution are completely delusional.

My stance has always been to take your money and emigrate and leave Malaysia to the buhmis who want it so much. Let them run the cuntry to the ground (within 10 years) and take it back to Turd Whirled status.

Then Singaporeans can come in and buy up the place cheap, and kick the assholes in Ummmm---No! out, once and for all

  11. Singaporeans and their ministers and officials should mind their own business. The description of Singapore as the "contemptible Shylock of South-east Asia" is most appropriate.

  12. The funniest part about this childish fiasco between a party from Sg and Msia each, taking potshots at each other is that – Sg's rep is a non-Chinese trying to tell Msia's non-Malays (especially the Chinese) that they are second class, while the Msia rep who is a Chinese himself, tells Sg rep off that it is not about race.

Isn't it ironic that DAP, which is an offshoot of PAP (who are Chinese slanted in race policy in Sg) defends Msia's stance that the Sg rep is wrong about the race slant?

Come on, if the Chinese are so badly treated in Msia, why are they not flocking to Sg when Sg welcomes foreigners (esp Chinese) so much? The Chinese DAP guy has a point, you know. That's some food for thought for the PAPpy guys who keep ranting the race card.

  13. In Malaysia it is never about race. It is always about the superior race.

  14. Same can be said about Singapore. Superior race.

  16. This is hilarious. UMNO (Malaysian Malay party) claims Bersih 4.0 is Chinese triggered due to lack of Malay support. DAP (Malaysian Chinese party) denies it is about race. Then Singapore's Bilahari claim it is about race, which makes DAP angry. So now we see that Singapore's PAP man is agreeing with UMNO, while Chinese party in Malaysia disagreeing and being angry at Singapore.

To top up the hilarious situation, PAS (the ultra religious party) does not want to get involved in both the Bersih 4 (mainly Chinese) and Red Shirt (mainly Malays).

So here we have Bilahari making claim it is about race. Which is exactly what UMNO said. Which Chinese DAP denies because it makes the Chinese party look racist. At the same time, the true blue kampong Malay base PAS, stays clear.

Cannot help laughing at the point that those who try to infer Malaysian Malay parties as racist unwitting imply Malaysian Chinese party is the racist one. Small wonder DAP is so hopping mad at Singapore.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Why Bersih 4 had so few Malays is because PAS did not activate their members who are from the rural villagers. In past Bersih demos, PAS brought them by the busloads. For Bersih 4, they were missing. UMNO then capitalize the situation by saying Bersih 4 is about Chinese race when actually the rural Malay folk had little means to come to the city because PAS no longer ferried them. So Bilahari now is like a fool supporting UMNO's claim, and of course DAP is very upset.

The important thing is that at the end of the day who is the smarter one, who is the successful one, who are the engineers, entrepreneurs, industrialists, scientists, doctors, architects, lawyers......who top the school and university exams.

  20. In Malaysia, their citizens get to work as engineers. In Singapore, their citizens play second class to cheena engineers from Cheenaland. Yes, it is important to know who hold top jobs where.

  21. Hey Redbean,

Here's an article on a Malaysian News Portal, in response to Bilahari Kausikan's article:

"A weak Malaysia is Singapore’s best neighbour"
    http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/opinion/julia-yeow/article/a-weak-malaysia-is-selfish-singapores-best-neighbour

Excerpt from final paragraph: "...Singapore has shown why, in contrast to the title of Bilahari’s article, they will always remain an island, with few friends or sympathisers."

I fully agree with the sentiments as expressed in the article. While Singapore might sometimes pretend that regional competition (particularly in trade) would entail regional prosperity, the reality is that no one likes competition - and that includes Singapore and the PAP.

As expressed in the Kausikan's article: the denigrating attitude towards weaker countries, and manipulation of facts to suit Singapore's pragmatism (perhaps even to toady up to those in authority) - these characteristics have been consistently displayed by the PAP, particularly K. Shanmugam and Lee Hsien Loong. They have made crude, tactless, selfish, misleading and unethical remarks in regards to the plight of Malaysians and Hong Kongers.

PAP might have circulated a letter about upright conduct of PAP ministers. But that has been contradicted by their actions, for they have flattering approved of what is evil in other countries (when it suits their pragmatism).

  22. Even the Malaysian Chinese hate Singapore but will exploit all they can to make a fast buck here. The stupid garment still thinks the Malaysian Chinese are grateful for the opportunities given to them to make money here and be the safe haven when shit falls from the sky in the north.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Well - Goh Keng Swee was born in Malaysia and so was Toh Chin Chye.

So the generalized claim that "Malaysian Chinese hate Singapore" is not true.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Not only Malaysian Chinese are pissed with Singapore. The Taiwanese called us "pisai" (speck of nasal mucus ie the gold you dig from your nose). Some time back, some Singapore minister or so said that Taiwan should unify with China and one Taiwanese politician called Singapore pisai. Then in another case PAP expected tons of Hongkongers to flood Singapore just before being handed over to China from British rule. PAP gave them an open invitation but hardly anyone came. Our Singapore government should stop thinking every Chinese in the world is supporting Singapore's Chinese supremacy policies.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Wow, so many expressions of self-victimization and parochialism from Singaporeans here. These are never attractive traits, be it inside Singapore or outside.

    ReplyDelete
  26. So annoying everyone else to the point they call us "mercenary prick of SE Asia" and "pisai" is attractive trait? Sigh. PAP and their men should not be so arrogant as to annoy everyone because we think Singapore is so much superior than others. A little humility goes a long way.

  27. Another piece of news about a Malaysian Chinese politician slamming Bilahari for his race comments about Malaysia.

    http://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/category/nation/2015/10/11/lks-slams-ambassador-as-smart-aleck-ugly-singaporean/

Now veteran DAP leader says Bilahari Kausikan delusional about understanding Malaysians

KUALA LUMPUR: The spat between Singapore’s ambassador-at-large Bilahari Kausikan and DAP politicians intensified today with DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang describing the ambassador as delusional to believe he understood the dynamics of Malaysian politics.
He also described Kausikan, a retired senior diplomat, as one of the “smart-aleck and Ugly Singaporeans” who had “the impertinence to prescribe how citizens of other countries should conduct themselves”.
