How many of
you could lose your jobs at 55, 60, 65 and could not find a job or retires
permanently? Or if you are lucky, find a job as a cleaner and earning enough
for 3 meals and think you still got money to pay for the premium?
If you have
a lot of money in your CPF and minimum sums account to pay, good for you. If you
have children to pay for you, good for you, but sorry for your children.
How many
Singaporeans working overseas for years and still must pay for this Medishield
Life premium when they are also paying for the medical insurance in their
country of residence? Would all the PRs in Australia, NZ, Malaysia, UK and US
and other countries, still holding Singapore passport, be expected to pay for
this premium?
How many of
you think this is fair and equitable for the oldies and Singaporeans working
and residing overseas to pay for this premium? Why should they be paying when
they are not consuming and using the medical facilities here and still have to
pay premium in two countries? What is the difference between this and
extortion? This govt does not see this as something wrong and unacceptable.
They only think in terms of power logic. They think they are right or what they
think is right and they will do it because you elected them to be the govt. And
it is done for the good of your interest. They think Singaporeans are stupid
and helpless and cannot do anything about it. They must be taking the GE for
granted or just a formality. Sure elected to form the next govt and to do the
‘right’ thing for the Singaporeans.
Why are
jobless retirees with no income, the ah kongs and the ah mahs, be forced to pay
for Medishield Life premium for life? What can a govt or country with so much
reserves do to help this group of people?
Some kong
cums think it is right and ok for the oldies to keep paying and paying when
they have no income and when the premium will keep going higher and higher as
they grow older.
Pure hearts,
hearts of gold, caring and compassionate? My foot!
There is an
urgent need to review this scheme. It must not be a profit making scheme. Any
surpluses must be ploughed back to reduce the premium. There must be
transparency in the computation of operating cost and fees.
The premium
for the oldies should be borne by the govt. A committee should review this and
stop forcing the oldies to keep paying and paying. Alternatively the oldies
should be allowed to opt out of the scheme. If not, many oldies would not be
able to pay and would end up in jail with whatever savings in their CPF
emptied. Heard of robbing the grandpas and grandmas?
Singaporeans
overseas who are paying for their respective medical insurance schemes need not
have to be forced to pay premium for Medishield Life here. Why pay for double
coverage?
PS. Would
Singaporeans who are PRs overseas and still have CPF accounts be made to
contribute to the Medishield Life, especially those quitters coming back to
scrounge for free meals? : )
Medishield Life is a good scheme. It ensures that anyone falling ill and needs medical facility would be looked after. Peace of mind is a good thing. What is so bad about caring? RB has a bee in his bonnet and only looks for faults that do not exist. Please be more positive.
ReplyDeleteThink about this. Does all the good policies outweigh the bad or all the bad policies outweigh the good. Think seriously then decide.
ReplyDeleteWhat is so bad about this????
ReplyDeleteMediShield Life
In end 2015, MediShield will be replaced by MediShield Life, and will offer:
Better protection and higher payouts, so that patients pay less Medisave/cash for large hospital bills
Protection For All Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents, including the very old and those who have pre-existing illnesses
Protection For Life
With better coverage, MediShield Life premiums will have to increase. You can use your Medisave to pay your premiums in full.
The Government will also provide significant support to keep premiums affordable:
Premium Subsidies for the lower- to middle-income;
Pioneer Generation Subsidies for Pioneers;
Transitional Subsidies to ease the shift to MediShield Life for Singapore Citizens; and
Additional Premium Support for those who are unable to afford their premiums even after premium subsidies.
Anon 8:41, you are entitled to your views and to vote for the scheme. I will vote against the scheme unless it is modified, unless it is not meant to be a profit making scheme, unless it is more transparent in the computation of operating cost and premium.
ReplyDeleteI am a retiree at 65 years old and I also do not want to pay, like RB. I like to live my life well now, but I also like to be well taken care of with the best medical care when I am sick.
ReplyDeleteSo, I would like the government to introduce laws to legally take from RB's children and future children's money with the government and put into my bank account now. I am old now and I do not have much money. I want RB's children to financially take care of me although we are unrelated.
I am sure RB has a pure heart and will not disagree right?
I, like RB, will vote against the scheme, and vote in favour of the scheme that allows the govt to take money from RB's children and all other children and put into old folks like me. That is, to take money from the Govt reserves and pay for me.
ReplyDeleteI am happy for the rich and nobles who can afford to keep paying for this scheme.
ReplyDeleteLet me ask a question to those who support this Medishield Life scheme.
ReplyDeleteWould you support the scheme if it is designed to make profit?
I am not rich or noble birth. I belong to the lower lower income group. Lower than RB.
ReplyDeleteThe govt says after all the subsidy, I need to pay annual premium of $492 for annual medical coverage including pre-existing illnesses which previously was not covered, in all hospitals, including the swanky Ng Teng Fong Hospital. The govt also says as a Pioneer, I will also receive annual cash top ups of about $400 to offset my premium, which means essentially, I still need to pay $92 a year out of pocket.
Now, where I got so much money ? I rather RB's children pay this $92 for me every year. It is not a lot of money for RB children, and sometimes, I need to smoke a few packs so this helps.
That's why RB says this scheme is no good, because I still need to pay. I would rather its free for all oldies, so oldies can relac relac when sick, and have RB children pay for me.
Wow!
ReplyDeleteAlmost all Comments in favour of the Medishield Life.
Are ALL the Comments from One Person?
As it is mandatory and asking and allowing private insurers into this program will only increase cost. People only look at the short term on the subsidies. After the first few years, i am pretty sure medical cost/premiums will increase. Look at price history over last 10yrs. Those below 40/50 n working may say no prob. Those above 50 wo jobs will definitely worry. Initials few years may be less of an issue(bcause of 90/70% etc. sub) but the later years will hv social impact. I hope i am wrong in my views. Btw giving sub and then increase cost/premiums is called what. A colorful language.
ReplyDeleteMedishield Life is lousy, is no good.
ReplyDeleteIt must be a IB papig.
Lets vote for WP ! And together, we can HUAT ah !!

Since most of the shǎ bī's (傻屄) delight at labelling me a "quitter and loser" (this is as far as their imagination allows them to go)...
Anyway, I cannot speak for any other pretentious overseas "I-am-better-than-you" Singaporean...I just pay lah. Fuck all those motherfuckers and their offspring, fuck them to hell...and just pay their "private health tax".
That's life lah. You have to PAY in order to LIVE. If you cannot, then, you might be facing a problem there ;-)
WP says we all oldies no need pay anything and can have the best medical care in the world. Tio bo ?
ReplyDeleteGo hospital no need pay. Even cheaper than hotel. And then got people take care.
P.S. Yah, I pay insurance in BOTH cuntrees. But I also ENJOY the benefits of both cuntrees. Yes, it's expensive. But I consider it's still cheaper than being diagnosed with "you're fucked" disease and not being able to afford the treatment of lots of drugs so you can die high and tripping out....i.e. with dignity.
ReplyDeleteAnd guess what, premiums will rise....as you will get older.
// Heard of robbing the grandpas and grandmas? //
ReplyDeleteRb, mb this is a new narrative in a cuntry with aristocrats living off the PG leaders back breaking labour and in addition the "sufferings" of the poor, oldies and disabled going forward.....?
The Chinese have a similar saying : " 把自己的快乐建在别人的肩膀和痛苦上。"
Otherwise how to enjoy the benefits of $8 heart surgery. .... and multi-million salaries. ...... and up to yearly 30 years bonus and worry-free state-funded retirement benefits for life ....... etc etc. Where to find the $$$$$$$$ if not from all the "defenceless human cash cows, oxes and buffaloes " ......?
Rb, how dare people of low, common or no pedigree even think of and have the audacity to aspire and hope to be at the same elevated pedestals as aristocrats.....?
What's wrong with collecting more money from the sick, oldies, poor, disabled, low income families? Anything wrong with the modern day "ROBBING HOOT"?
Rb: // Heard of robbing the grandpas and grandmas? //
Pls dun make anymore such gullible comments.
You political science graduate yew should know what is "Real Politics"?
"Power is might and rights"!
Do all the lions in the jungle have to account for eating up the buffaloes and their babies?
In the wilderness, the lions are at the top of the food chain.
Likewise aristocrats is at the top of the human chain in the concrete jungle, or so according to the logic of natural law of the aristocrats.
Pls dun pose such questions anymore. ....
First World Parliamentarians also never question the aristocratic rights and entitlements of the nobles, so silence may already meant consent. ....?
No?
If a gang of Nehs back in India raped a gal and she did not make noise or struggle or put up a fight or protest against such violations, under law, is it not consider a form of consent?
Did the first world parliamentarians make noise in parliament that they are being paid too much allowance ($16,000) for attending once a week MPS for a few hours?
Where did this monies come from other than the taxpayers, oldies GST on every cent of consumption including water, electricity, diapers, medicine, coffee, bread, butter, mrt/ bus rides, ...... etc etc?
Did any first world parliamentarians disagree with the garment on this and insist the garment only pay them $200 per hour for MPS and not $1,000 per hour ....?
They also never kpkb, right?
Many oldies would rather die than live a meaningless existence.
ReplyDeleteuniversal medical insurance is better than universal free healthcare.
