A contest on who committed the most lapses

GE2015 is looking like a contest to showcase which party committed the most lapses under their watch. For the moment it is looking like a contest between WP and PAP as only these two parties have direct responsibilities over the citizens as their representatives. And also a very important point to note, both parties may have committed lapses, but both did their jobs with good intentions, with very decent and upright people, so no crime has been committed so far.

So far if one is to read the main media the there are more lapses committed by the WP than than the PAP. If one is to read the social media, there are more lapses committed by the PAP than the WP. To be fair, it is necessary to look at both media for a balance picture and I did that and find that the lapses are about equal on both sides.

Let me just list down 10 lapses of the PAP, could be more but it would be too tiresome to belabour the point as both parties committed equal numbers. It can be 10 versus 10 or 20 versus 20 or 100 versus 100.

Ok, here are the 10 lapses of PAP not in any order of merit:

1.     Infrastructure not ready for huge influx of foreigners, train stoppages

2.     Need more transparency to know how Temasek and GIC are doing

3.     Losing the Singaporean core

4.     AGO reports on PA’s grassroot organizations

5.     Not returning the people’s savings as promised

6.     PMETs losing jobs and replaced by foreigners with fake or half past six degrees

7.     Shortage of hospital beds and high medical cost

8.     AIM saga

9.     Spending billions to provide scholarships to foreigners

10.                         Signing of CECA

And here are the 10 lapses of WP, also not in any order of severity.

1.     AHPETC – Cannot manage town council

2.     AHPETC – Cannot manage town council

3.     AHPETC – Cannot manage town council

4.     AHPETC – Cannot manage town council

5.     AHPETC – Cannot manage town council

6.     AHPETC – Cannot manage town council

7.     AHPETC – Cannot manage town council

8.     AHPETC – Cannot manage town council

9.     AHPETC – Cannot manage town council

10.                         AHPETC – Cannot manage town council

So the score card is 10 versus 10. The people can now judge the merit of the case and how good the two parties are. I could make it 20 versus 20 if the above is not convincing enough.

Oops, I wrote the above last week. Now there are so many new developments about the AHPETC’s case. The managing agent is found to have made excessive profits or profiteering. And WP has been accused of rewarding their friends and supporters with big contracts to make money. This kind of things never happened in super clean Singapore under the PAP. The PAP never believed in rewarding their friends and supporters or profiteering, let alone collecting more money from the people.

Strange things are happening. How can political parties reward their friends, supporters and kaki lang with contracts and profiteering some more? Ask the PAP, their track record is so clean and perfect. That is why they can stand on high moral grounds to poke at WP. Now on one side we have righteous people, good hearted people, immortals, natural aristocrats and nobles and the ordinary not so rich people on the other side. The good side is pointing the guilty finger at the ordinary people. And according to Vivian Balakrishnan, wealthy people are unlikely to be corrupt even when they worked for free.

So, what do you think?

  1. What contest? By contesting only 28 out of 89 seats, WP lose big big already, even before the first shot is fired!

So like that ah, it is more like wayang than contest. Need some wayang mah, or else Sinkieland politics macham very, very boring, u know. If can see only white, white, and more white, lagi boring, tio bo?

  2. Aiya RB, to tell you lah, since you still don't know.

The ten lapses of PAP, and maybe more, and maybe worse, that you listed already happened even before 2011!

Yet 60% still voted PAP in GE 2011, resulting in PAP winning 93% seats with just 60% votes!

So why should the outcome be any much worse for PAP in GE 2015? And I am not yet even counting the many more new citizens minted by PAP since 2011 and also the PAP has improved (although still bad lah) since 2011.

  3. This GE is getting very exciting!

IMO, the results are going to be like what the hokkien say......
    "Big Good Big Bad" (BGBB)!

    Why "BGBB"?

"Big Good".......the PAP votes exceeded 70% and recaptured AHPE
    for a 100% elected parliament.

"Big Bad"........the PAP votes dived below 50% and losing another
    few GRCs and SMCs.

The results will be very shocking to many.

    Yes! Very Shocking Very Shocking!

There will not be middle-of-the-road results!

Many many many many will be very very very very surprised!

But please relax and worry not!

    Hello 12 Sept!

    Cheers.

  4. Talking about rewards, whether it was for kakilang or not is beside the Point, I cannot help thinking about the SMRT CEO WHO GOT A HUGE PAY.
IT WAS MULTIPLE TIMES OF HIS REGULAR REMUNERATIONS, DESPITE THE FREQUENT AND WIDESPREAD BREAKDOWNS OF THE SMRT TRAIN SYSTEM.
PAY INCREMENT AND REWARD FOR POOR PERFORMANCE?
    INCREDILE?
    BUT, IT HAPPENED!
$500k Pay was raised to $2.5 Millions, Reward for INCOMPETENCY?
Or ............. (fill in whatever You fancy).
I have no idea as I am unable to TO FIND ANY REASON, GOOD OR BAD, FOR A CEO GETTING A HUMONGOUS PAY REWARD FOR FREQUENT AND WIDESPREAD BREAKDOWNS OF THE SYSTEM HE IS INCHARGED.

    MAD TO THINK OF IT.

U heard of market rate or not? For CEO of big big companies, whatever the type, the market rate salary is in the millions per year, u know.

Of course in private sector, with this type of pay and they don't perform, out the CEO goes lah.

But for SMRT, and even with so many train breakdowns, it is still up to the PAP govt whether the CEO have to go or not. If PAP govt say CEO is OK, then it is OK lor.

Just like if majority (aka 60%) voters say PAP is still OK on 11 Sep, then PAP govt is OK lor. Nothing to argue further. Case closed.

  6. Our SMRT CEO is a very HoLee CEO.
He deserves every penny he receives in salary.
Just like Sinkies deserve the government they voted for.

No lah. This is only temporary "pattern matching"---e.g. "this looks like that, so they go together here"--- kindergarten game lah

There is a widespread belief, fostered by the PAP of course, that the opposition folks can't even manage a fart in a shithouse, which is a tad extreme and unfair.

The PAP have forgotten that nowadays we have YouTube---where there are instructions and lessons to learn just about anything. So if the opposition gets in, they'll be OK in spite of their lack of experience in governing cuntry.

All they need to do is to buy all of LKY's books, and spend a few days on YouTube, and in a short time they will have comparable skills to the former minister, and no one will be able to tell the difference.

    Did the AIM company profiteered?

    Did the public hospitals profiteered?

    Did HDB profiteered?

  10. Noting personal. The PAP have their own thinking of what is good for Singapore.

There are many fundamental issues and policies that I strongly disagree.

    1. You cannot touch the people's savings
    2. You cannot demand the oldies to keep paying premiums for Medishield Life when they have no income
    3. You cannot keep increasing the population, not above 5.5m. We are already too crowded. What is the point of stuffing people into this piece of rock. I don't buy this idea that this is the only way forward.
    4. I cannot stand Singaporeans being bullied and cheated by shitty foreign craps.
    5. I believe that this is our country and it must be Singaporeans First not foreigners first or even a level playing field for foreigners to compete with Singaporeans. There are so many things wrong in this kind of thinking process that are anti Singaporeans that a govt would have been brought down in other countries.
    6. No govt must be allowed to bring in so many foreigners as citizens and undermine the ownership of this country by the Singaporeans without the citizen's consent. This is not anyone's grandfather's country. It belongs to all the citizens.

For those who are still doing well and think their wealth will last, their jobs will last, and their children will be smart and clever, and can compete with cheats in a 'level playing field', I say, don't be naïve. It would not last. Your good fortune will not last.

You need to plan for a future when you lost your fortune, lost your jobs, your children are average or even dull. You need to have a country that protects you when you are down and your children when they are average or dull.

Thanks for an excellent summary of your views.
    I support and agree.

"The PAP have their own thinking of what is good for Singapore."
    - and this is the problem
    - the debate has to be focused on what is good for SINGAPOREANS and not Singapore.

Everybody will have different ideas about what is good for Singapore.
    - and can never agree
    - because the "Singapore" exists only in their brains
    - and your "Singapore" in your brain is not the same as my "Singapore" in my brain

So let's all focus our thinking and policies on what is good for SINGAPOREANS.
    - Why?
    - Because when SINGAPOREANS do well, Singapore will automatically do well
    - When SINGAPOREANS are strong and united, Singapore will automatically be strong and united

The citizens are the country and the country is the citizens.
    - and PAP will never understand this

    Maybe because for PAP
    - Singapore = PAP and PAP = Singapore

    Anon 12:29 p.m.

Not really lah. Must add the word govt behind Singapore and PAP, then it will be 100% tiok.

And 100% tiok is because the opposition is not ready to be govt what. So like that also cannot blame majority Sinkies for always voting PAP to be govt, tio bo?

How can SINGAPOREANS do well when there are not even enough of ordinary Singaporeans, let alone enough talented Singaporeans, u tell me lah?

That's why you cannot blame PAP for importing lots of ordinary foreigners, because they are really needed to supplement ordinary Singaporeans no enough. Just like taking vitamin supplements if your body vitamin intake from food is no enough.

  15. my friend Simon suggested that the best test for those
potential office holders is for them to form a Dream Team
to stand against the WP team at Aljunied GRC.........

if voted in.......not only help PAP to recaptured Aljunied GRC,
they are really deserving to be ministers, even PM...........

    one stone kills two birds..........

if voted out......sorry, no minister position............

    what do you think...........

  17. Rightly or otherwise, I deem this 2015 General Election as the Final Decision of Sinkies to their fates.

It is almost internationally claim that Sin is one of the Lowest in corruption and we Sinkies do indeed feel proud about this.
That said, there is glaring symptom of Cronyism, especially so in the Parachuting of civil servants to become the Ruling Class.
It has been done so glaringly that some Sinkies are beginning to feel uneasy about it.
When Top Military and Police Commanders are co-opted on top of those from grassroots organizations set up by the Regime with Those State-own Entities, what else other than CRONYISM comes to mind?

Apparently, CRONYISM is not view as a criminal act, maybe because it is consider as an accepted form of so-called talent hunt. And that those head hunted are remunerated openly after assuming offices and not before.
However, should the People allow and accept it(Cronyism) JUST BECAUSE IT IS DONE OPENLY AND THEREFORE DEEMED LEGAL?

We are of course very used to cronyism as it has always been in practice since there was mankind.
Historically, CRONYISM has invariably proved to have great negative effects in almost every nation throughout all the period. Such that, all government systems are avoiding it as much as possible.
So, to see it glaringly practice in Sin is naturally alarming to some.

I liken CRONYISM to MALIGNANT TUMOUR that has to be removed the Moment it is discovered. Allowing it to grow shall be fatal.

    CRONYISM is bad.
Worse if CRONIES ARE GIVEN WIDE
POWER AND HUGE REWARDS REGARDLESS OF THEIR COMPETENCY AND ABILITY.
THE WORST IS THAT CRONIES ARE NOT TAKEN TO TASK AND HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR MISTAKE ND NEGLIGENCE.

We do have much evidence that CRONYISM and DESPOTISM have
    seeped into our homeland.

IT IS IMPERATIVE AND INCUNBENT ON SINKIES TO HAVE THEM CHECK AND BE DONE AWAY WITH.

GENERAL ELECTION 2015 IS THE LAST AND FINAL CHANCE FOR US TO DO OURSELVES JUSTICE.

    VOTE FOR ANY ALTERNATIVE PARTIES
NO MATTER WHICH WARD YOU ARE IN.

Hey, do you know that too much of vitamin supplements is not a good thing for the body. Example: excessive Vitamin D results in Vitamin D toxicity - a condition that could damage your liver/kidney. Vitamin B6 overdose can cause nerve toxicity. Moderation is key. The right amount, at the right time so that the body can benefit from it.

Similarly, in the importation of foreigners, the right pace with proper integration is important. The overdose is damaging our country and she is rejecting it. Ignoring these symptoms and dismissing them as noise is not causing them to go away. And one day, things will blow up. And all of us will be collateral damage.
