'Every thing works, whether its water, electricity, gas, telephone, telexes, it just has to work. If it doesn't work, I want to know why, and if I am not satisfied, and I often was not, the chief goes, and I have to find another chief. Firing the chief is very simple.'
Changing times and changing ethos, work ethics and expectations.
No! No, No!
ReplyDeleteDon't sack anyone!
In fact we should consider a mid-term special bonus and salary increment for All for
their hard work overnight to solve the breakdown.
Cheers.
Please keep Desmond Kuek on the job.
ReplyDeleteHe's our best argument on why we should keep generals out of SMRT and the Singapore parliament.
If that is what the old man said and meant to be followed, well, first and foremost, some past and present ministers of ours should have been asked to go long before they are asked discreetly to retire before every GE.
ReplyDeleteAiyo. those were just scripts written to be spoken and meant to be broken.
ReplyDeleteThose who are not opening their eyes are Kong khum. How many ex-police scholars in the cabinet? Want good life forever and the road to riches, sign on as army General. No? Ask all the generals heading various Stats Board, agencies, GLCs. Lose $ or big screwup also keep getting bigger salaries and bonuses. Where to find? Those whose children become police scholars than soldier scholars eyes paste stamps liao ....... If their children sign on soldier scholars, now Jiak buey liao lo ......
ReplyDeletePolice scholars on scholarships on how to contain Little India fracas.
DeleteFracas only, if real riots, don't know what to say.
Good life forever is just an ignorant illusion. Even the 'God of No Mercy' cannot live beyond 93 years, which is considered an overstayer.
ReplyDeletefiring someone one does not know much about is much easier than fire someone from your old school boy club lah. dirty secrets/photos can spread.
ReplyDeleteAnyone disagrees that Lee Kuan Yew had himself failed the most for having his son Lee Hsien Loong to have become the Prime Minister of Singapore ?
ReplyDeleteWhen the Prime Minister failed to sack incompetent underlings, there could be at least two reasons.
First and foremost is that the Prime Minister himself is no better than his underlings.
And Two, the underlings are people he is friendly with and close to, making him very forgiving. However, despite many hiccups in the various sectors such as public housing, public transport and healthcare etc, astronomical pay rise and bonus were generous. No penalty for lapses and breakdowns, we saw quite the opposite.
It is great that Singaporeans are more forgiving and do not denand for accountability.

ReplyDeletepart two does not stand. "Forgiving?" - the way he treated a 16 year old blogger is shameful. a lot of damage did to SG and LKY high public internatonal image. makes people question how come a supreme being like LKY can have a son like that.
For their indifference and keep putting people in despite obvious tell tale signs, now many are paying the price for train breakdowns, badly built new flats BTO or dbss, rusty and contaminated tap water ( dun believe use a nano-tech water filter, within 1 day, u will be SHOCKED what your whole family have been drinking everyday! ), degenerating and dysfunctional education system that will cast an overhang on their children's future, life time health insurance from cradle to grave to raid your medisave account or bank account otherwise no $$$ have to go jail ........ just to name a few ...... if people still bor chap and keep doing the same things, it is only human for the generals and aristicrats to take things for granted and screw sinkies even more for another 5 to 10 years ...... by then perhaps majority women have to open legs to make a living serving the blangas and ah Neh, the men many have to work like slaves and labourers to eke out a living. ..... the Chinese said 不见棺材不流泪 。。。。。
ReplyDeleteFamous last words.
ReplyDelete“I think it is more useful to make sure that SMRT and LTA concentrate on finding the definitive cause of those incidents, because if you can find the definitive cause, you can take the necessary corrective actions, and then you have a certain peace of mind that you have resolved those faults that have caused the disruption, so I think that’s where we need to concentrate our effort right now,” TODAY reported Mr Lui saying.
ReplyDelete--------------------
Dear Mr Lui
I think MRT trains started breaking down many years ago already.
You mean only now you are starting to look for the "definitive cause"?
- Desmond Kuek is probably the highest paid MRT CEO in the world
- was Desmond's low salary the definitive cause in the first place?
COI into the MRT problems was convened in 2011.
- so obviously setting up a COI will not solve any problem
- at least we got that cleared up.
- and at least you learnt that lesson
As a taxpayer, I cannot get my CPF money back at age 55 years per the original PAP promise.
- but somehow you and Desmond continue to keep your jobs with some of the highest salaries in the world
- why is that?
I must vote Opposition to find out.
不见棺材不掉泪?One mei mei ever say dun take train at the same time but see? No one believe so this proverb make sense.

ReplyDeleteI wonder who will get fired after the breakdown of the N-S and E=W MRT?
ReplyDeleteTheir famous quote: Not in our culture to sack sack our kakis.
DeleteBut now employers can sack anyone, we close eyes. What's Unions??
No more following collective agreement lah? Twenty hours or a month's pay and you OUT!!
What's one month one year of service?? Union chief busy collecting tooth picks.
Solution to current problem, and problems yet to occur:
ReplyDeleteGET A NEW KNUCKLE-DUSTING HATCHET WIELDING DICTATOR, a proper replacement for Lee Kuan Yew ASAP.
Without carrot and stick and the use of awesome FEAR, you cannot run Singapore.
Walau, like real!
DeleteTalked as though LKY sacked many of his people.
All the incompetent members in the cabinet must have got his nods to be in there lah.

ReplyDeleteSo are we taking the words seriously? If not, then can we conclude that what LKY said is just wayang. Only fire you if you are not my friend. Others do not apply?
ReplyDelete@ 937:
ReplyDeleteThat's the problem. With LKY, there was no wayang. Whatever he says, gets done. If he says he'll destroy you, he follows through. That's how you get a REPUTATION and INTEGRITY---you back up words with the concomitant ACTION.
Now take the SMRT breakdown: This is not the 1st time it has happened. At one time it was almost a daily occurrence. LKY was still alive then. And they "fixed" it.
If he was still alive and conscious, I think the recent epic failure breakdown would have made the man so fucking angry, Minister Liu and all his top staff would now be driving taxis, probably fired the whole top management of SMRT, delisted the company from stock exchange, and NATIONALISE the train system, and handing over the management contract to other nation’s agencies which do a fantastic job managing their own subway train systems: Hong Kong, Seoul—Korea, Moscow—Russia, Stockholm—-Sweden etc.
Lee Kuan Yew got things DONE---whether you liked it or not. He talked plenty, but also backed it up with the walk---kicking in heads and doing whatever was necessary to get any "roadblocks" and "blockheads" out of his way...LEGALLY.
P.S. This is why an arse-kicking cuntree like Singapore needs a Dictator to kick everyone's arse.
ReplyDeleteHow are you going to be awesome if you don't have someone pushing you out of your LAZY, ENTITLEMENT, Comfort Zone?
Heaven, please send Singapore a new FIERCE dictator to kick and smash these rudderless automatonic Sheeple into some sense of "purpose". Otherwise Singapore is DOOMED.
LKY reportedly wrote these words to 'deserving' people: "Please justify your continued existence in your present position". Translated, it means, explain why you should not get the sack.
ReplyDeleteFor example, he visits a school. He asked to use the toilet. Oh, not the staff toilet, but the students' toilet. Entered the toilet...urgh..dirty. Principal got transferred out.
@ 1035:
ReplyDeleteExactly. Nowadays the fuckers are too "soft". They try reason and empathy....been reading too much bullshit from those new age books lah. SMRT cock up....the mangement goes for lunch with the authority and the "discuss" issues over fine wine and dine.
LKY: immediate dismissal, plus scolding, plus public loss of face. No pan chan.
Remember the famous case: You cheat HDB---better you kill yourself?
Dictator needed NOW!
'Lee Kuan Yew got things DONE---whether you liked it or not. He talked plenty, but also backed it up with the walk---kicking in heads and doing whatever was necessary to get any "roadblocks" and "blockheads" out of his way...LEGALLY.'
ReplyDeleteThis one tiok, tiok. Must agree.
