Amos sentenced to 4 weeks jail

SINGAPORE - Teenage blogger Amos Yee has been sentenced to four weeks’ jail, backdated to June 2. This means he will be freed today (July 6).
The hearing for his sentencing was held this afternoon.

The above is quoted from Today online

This is a very tough young man, to take so much of thrashing for so little that the did. Glad that he stays strong till the end and did not go mad or die in the mental hospital.

  1. 4 weeks jail. Amos was remanded for more than 55 days. Should he be compensated for being in custody more than the 4 weeks jail which would be lesser with 1/3 remission?

    1. Their words and actions in ordering any accused to IMH for observation or in remand before sentencing are paramount. Can be remanded more time than the actual sentence to them not counted.

Due to all the hoo ha both locally and internationally, they have no choice but to release him now.

Any further detention would be a great political cause and many more of their portraits would be burned to Ashes.

Sua, Sua these only burnt for dead not the living.

  2. To compensate him he should be rewarded with a free HDB flat and free entry to any political party he chooses.

Such talented people with guts should be celebrated to lead our country forward. We should support him for any further endeavours and I hope he never changes his ways and continue to be our beacon of light. Huat ah !

6 In that day the wolf and the lamb will lie down together, and the leopard and goats will be at peace. Calves and fat cattle will be safe among lions, and a little child shall lead them all.

May the actions of Amos open our eyes and bring peace upon our troubled nation.

  4. 'did not go mad or die the in mental hospital'.
Can they afford for that to happen.

What's important is that Amos Yee should return to his normal self and not affected mentally, physically and medically.

His safety in health hopefully is not affected by the Ordeal he has gone through.

  6. Amos, be strong. The people are with you. Righteousness is with you.
Fear not for they have done you wrong, and they will be punished when the time comes.

You can't have peace when a ravenous wolf is the PM.

A nation of sheep deserves a government of wolves.

  8. ...and so life in Singapore moves on.

In one month's time, National Day. Hopefully Amos will have a "surprise" for the nation :-)

I hope young Amos will keep delivering his "creative content", as a free citizen. I hope he will go on to inspire more youngsters to do likewise and to give The Authority some "curry". Forget about the oldies----most of them are a dead loss all moaning and groaning about "survival" because the govt. "sapu'd" their CPF.

Amos should keep up the heat. He should put a BitCoin and PayPal link on his blog so supporters like me can sling him some coin occasionally and remain anonymous.

Cost of YouTube video: Imagination, time and effort

Cost of incarceration in jail and IMH: 2 months of solitary and lots of public attention on the net

Release of video 1 day before LKY's funeral, and walloping christians as a bonus:

    PRICELESS!

  9. Dear Redbean, thank you very much for your efforts to bring the Amos issue to the attention of the public. I have no doubts that it has contributed to the release of the boy from jail.

4 weeks jail? This is something which greatly puzzles me. How can the sentence be 4 weeks when the Prosecution asked for 1 Day? It's against Logic.

Say, suppose the Defense appeals against sentence, argues that it should be 1 Day. The second Judge hearing the appeal would ask the Prosecution, "Any objections?"

The Prosecution would then say "(cough, cough) We did ask for 1 Day, your honour. We now cannot make a U-turn and argue for 4 weeks, right?".

That second Judge would then find nobody arguing against the appeal. Except for himself, but that would be unlawful, right?

And it's not just the Logic that's the problem. Even more bewildering is the Scale of the lack of logic. 4 weeks compared with 1 Day is 2,800% greater. To put that into perspective, it's equivalent to a Prosecutor asking the Court to give 1 year's jail and the Judge handing out a sentence of 28 years! It's so far off the charts that I dare say it's a World Record. Somebody should submit it to the Guinness World Records.

I hope I'm wrong, somebody please teach me how I've gone wrong. I'll prefer to admit I'm wrong rather than be in contempt of court.
