SG50 - One suggestion to keep Singaporeans home

Halimah had made a plea for Singaporeans to stay home to celebrate the SG50 National Day. Knowing how practical Singaporeans are and what a great opportunity to have a very long weekend to get away, the call must be in vain. Shouldn’t have declared 7th Aug a holiday. Not thinking surely.

The latest from the grapevine, overseas tours are 700% overbooked. Now, how many Singaporeans would be left behind to attend the National Day Celebration, this would now be a serious issue. But not to worry as the seats can always be given to foreigners, especially the foreign workers who have no where else to go. The ICA can even set up a few tables to offer instant citizenship application if the 6.9 million target is falling behind.

It would not be funny if the seats are half empty at the Marina Bay platform. It would not be funny if the SG50 Celebration is celebrated by foreigners instead and all the money spent to make the foreigners have a good time while the citizens are all overseas.

Quick, quick, come up with a solution or alternative plan. The Celebration must go on. The holiday cannot be cancelled. So how? How to keep the Singaporeans in the island short of closing down all the exit points for a week?

Let me offer a solution. Hold the GE on 7 Aug. And since voting is compulsory, they would have to cancel their holiday trips. Would they? Some would say who cares, my holiday more important. But there is a risk as the more wealthy and thus more pro establishment would be away leaving the ‘money not enough’ at home to vote. And you can guess who they will vote for. This is no good.

Anyway, just a suggestion only mah. Who is the smart ass who suggested that 7Aug should be a public holiday? Not the President for sure. He simply announced it.

  6. HAPPY SG50! HAPPY SG50!

    What so surprising even your
    figure of 700% overbooked for
    overseas tours was correct.

It is not surprising at all!

It is not surprising at all!

To many people, Singapore is very
tiny and everywhere is so very
    very very crowded. There is
really NO place to escape to!

    Anyway......Happy SG50!

    Cheers!

  7. Hahahahaha....I have consistently been lambasted for my "I treat Singapore like a Hotel" attitude, and now [drum roll], ladies and gentlemen of the Sheepleocracy...it is clear that I'm not the only one.

Admit it, the "hotel" attitude exists in many, many Singaporeans, especially amongst the born-and-bred LOCALS.

Nice to know I'm not alone ;-)

    Got on-line booking?

Its faith-based 12-step program dominates treatment in the United States. But researchers have debunked central tenets of AA doctrine and found dozens of other treatments more effective.

How about LKY & PAP's faith based politics and Hard Truths?
Do you have faith that your CPF and Singapore Reserves are safe?
    Or do you require evidence?

  10. This extra holiday will only make employers poorer by having to pay double and busier looking for temp. staff.
It only cause Sinkies to spend money oversea and will cause more FWs to be here.
Only benefit those who work on these days.

Sinkies should take this opportunity to work part timer on these days as cleaner ,F&b or screwty guard etc.
You never try you dun know.Once you try you may want to change your profession to become sookoority , waitor or cleaner.

I no Harimau. And will never plea like that. Can only tell you dun be lazy and work on these day to earn extras.

Instead of kpkb on 6.9m, go and work. Its another way to contribute n help to reduce Fts n Fws.

    3. Troublesome traffic closures (damn siong)
    4. Waste of leisure/ productive time with bullshit rehearsals (lagi siong)
    5. A good holiday "burned" for no personal benefit---i.e. holidays are supposed to be enjoyed with friends and family, not licking the corrupt balls of the motherfucking state.
    6. It turns the state and the govt into "idols of worship", c'mon lah, aren't you already enough being minion-sheeple? You want to kena butt-fucked some more izzit?

  15. RB, you sure it is celebration time? I think it is mourning time. What better way to pull the plug and announce the passing of a political dwarf who stood on the shoulder of giants. And then take advantage of free media advertisement to display all the so call greatness of one man. If possible, make it sound as if he single-handedly built planet earth. Analyse the mood of the people and if the everything is favourable, call for a snap election. That would complete the "Beat the iron when it's hot".
