AHPETC actions ‘unlawful’, public monies lost

These are two very serious charges made by Shanmugam and appearing on the front page news today. I would presume, yes I am a layman and do not understand if this is different from breaking the law, that unlawful means breaking the law. What should the Govt do when the Law Minister accused the AHPETC of being ‘unlawful’ even with inverted commas? I would again presume, or shall I think, the Govt or the Law Minister is going to file charges against the AHPETC for breaking the law, or is it breaking some rules and regulations or procedures of the Town Council Acts that may not amount to criminal charges?

And the second charge, for causing the lost of public monies, not stolen or theft, but could also be charged for negligence or not doing due diligence in their fiduciary duties. So, should the AHPETC be preparing for a criminal lawsuit coming their way?

When the Law Minister said AHPETC broke the law, or ‘unlawful’, it is not play, play and the AHPETC better start to pray, pray on what is the next move by the Law Minister.

Let’s wait for In Parliament Act 2.

  2. Yup I agree.

Just sue them in courts. Nothing works better than evidences laid bare for all to see.

Singaporeans will understand and support the decision.

  3. If AHPETC's actions are unlawful, please charge them and let's have a trial.
    Otherwise, it's just "background noise".

  4. "public monies lost"
    - which public monies are you talking about?
    - are you referring to the public monies lost by PAP Town Councils investing in mini-bonds and Pinnacle Notes?
    - or the public money lost by Temasek and GIC during the financial crisis in 2008?

  5. Shanmugam has provided a stamp plate to the WP to ask the right questions in Parliament. Just substitute AHPETC with another organisation and the rest can be applied exactly, word by word.

  6. Low TK and Chen Show Mao should translate Shanmugam's comments into Chinese and ask him the same set of questions in Chinese.

  10. Khaw Boon Wan, the ex-Malaysian nobody, who came to Singapore and became somebody, whose words are gold and diamonds. We, the citizens of Singapore must never forget what he had said in Parliament in the year 2015:

    Quote:
"It's very convenient. the husband issues a payment voucher, the wife approves payment, the wife signs a cheque. It's all in the family." By Khaw Boon Wan in the Singapore Parliament on 12 Feb 2015.

When PAP falls, we the Citizen of Singapore must make full use of Khaw Boon Wan's GOLDEN WORDS, spoken so freely, sincerely, faithfully, meaningfully and directly in the faces of all PAP MPs, not just the WP MPs.

His words really alerted everyone of us that there is one very powerful husband-and-wife team who are very secretive in their use, management and administration of public and poor men's money.

The Accountant General Office should and must immediately go into their accounts and reveal to the public and poor men what the hell is going on in the last 30 years within the organisations that these two powerful husband-and-wife team been doing.

We the Citizens of Singapore would very much like to know how our moneys have been employed, used, managed and administered. Nothing should be left unturned. We expect nothing but everything WHITHER THAN WHITE.

And the Opposition MPs should be the ones grilling these husband-and-wife team for a change.

Wake up, Singaporeans! It is time for a REAL CHANGE. The time is now!

    Really ah?
So PAP Millionaire Balakrishnan overspend by $300 million dollars for the Youth Olympics ... this one is financial mismanagement or not?

Where is the money going to come from?
    Please come clean.

  13. If there is already a law in place to govern the "wrongs" by AHPETC, then why amend Town Councils Act now? If there is no such law in place, then how can it be "unlawful"? If there is a factual basis to Shanmugam's claim, then MND should sue AHPETC. Otherwise, AHPETC should sue Shanmugam if he has the honour to repeat his speech outside Parliament.

Wah lau eh, WP town council thing is suck money from residents then give contracts to own people and bad accounting, and cannot account for don't know what spent on.

Youth Olympics is over budgeted but spent with proper accounting. It will benefit whole of Singapore on image etc ect.

    1. On top of this, Singaporean children volunteers as assistants to the officials were given a package of rice just with a piece of chicken and some vegetables.

The athletes were feasted to the varieties of food of their choice. The funds came from the singaporeans tax payers.

  16. After this lesson.
I think Opposition Parties will not try to contest in too many GRCs and SMCs.
It will reduce chances of 3 corner fights.
I think there is an opportunity for an Opposition linked IT company to provide IT services for all Opposition Town Councils

  17. The issue here is proper accounting. You knuckle head.

  18. The WP or any opposition party knew that they are under the microscope all the time. Also, those in AHPETC would not have the gumption to intentionally do anything illegal to be caught.

I am quite certain there is no intent to cheat or to practise cronyism like to take public money to pay themselves or to give to their friends. Cronyism is a very serious thing and can easily be caught if you are on the wrong side of the law.

  21. Wah! Now even accountants got chance to provide accounting services to Opposition Town Councils. So many unemployed Singaporean accountants sacked by Aliens brought in by PAP policies.
    What are you waiting for?
    This is your chance.

  22. There is only one solution to this harassment of minority opposition in parliament. Lets all vote more opposition into parliament. Just 20 or so would be enough to out debate these PAP arseholes
