$1m for Singaporean students and $2b for foreign students

In an article posted in TRE by a ‘Win battles lose war’, titled ‘$1m bursaries past 5 years – $2b for foreign students?’ he produced some statistics on the amount of money the govt spent over a 5 year period on bursaries for children of Singaporeans. He then presented another chart showing how much was spent on foreigner students on scholarships here and the amount came to a mind blowing $2n against a miserable $1m for our children. And the ministers were crowing how generous the govt was to help lower income Singaporeans.

The full article can be viewed in TRE. I took a look and almost gone crazy. I cannot believe our govt would spend so much money on foreign students and so miserly on our own children. What is going on? What is the weird logic? Is the govt mad? Is this part of the pragmatism that our elite have been drugged in?

No govt, or no one in his right mind will give away public money to foreigners in such a big sum but stinged on giving to the children of our citizens. I just cannot understand the logic? I keep asking myself, what the hell is going on in their minds? You mean all 80 over PAP MPs agreed to this kind of spending and did not see anything wrong with it?
As a country we can be generous, but to the extent of spending billions on foreigners and a miserable $1m on our own children is insanity. Yes, the only reason I can think of is that we may have mad people making decisions on how to use our tax payers’ money foolishly and extravagantly. I can’t think of a logical reason to spend this kind of money even if it is Other People’s Money. I just dunno what to say. What have they been smoking?

I still cannot believe what I read. I cannot believe that our super talents think this is the right thing to do, the right thing to spend our money on. Maybe that is why they deserved to be paid in millions for being able to see things that we commoners cannot see. We should vote them for another term of office and pay them more, increase their salaries, so that they can do more good to foreigners and their children. Even if we are scratching our heads, never mind, trust them to do the right thing, trust the deaf frogs. Remember, they are the smartest, the cleverest, the most talented. They know what they are doing. Fools like us would not be able to understand the goodness of what they are doing and that is expected. Just believe it is for our own good.

  4. redbean like all other Sinkies ... are very naive.
Why would PAP want to help Singaporean students?
Isn't it true that Singaporeans and Singaporean students have the power to vote out the PAP government one day.

Is it possible, if these Singaporean students go to university, they will gain the qualifications needed to challenge the PAP leadership?

Is it possible that it will be easier to entrench the PAP government in power if fewer Singaporean students go to university?

If only scholars go to university.
And if all scholarships originate from the PAP government.
Does that create a virtuous cycle for the PAP government?

    RB

Not at all and u know why?

Let me tell u lah, and the reason is very simple and u sure understand one.

Because spending billions on foreigners will get even more billions in returns mah. And this will in turn boost Sinkieland GDP and reserves, u know. The same billions, if just spent on low fertility and numbers no enough Sinkies, will not get the same returns or may even get negative returns!

Same thing applies to casinos lah. And if casinos are OK to boost GDP, what is billions spend on foreignrs to do the same or even much more, u tell me lah?

So now u understand? If yes, nothing insanity at all.

Please explain the exact mechanism that will translate into "billions in returns"
You graduated from the LKY school of economics is it?

  8. ...low fertility and numbers no enough Sinkies....
    Anon 9:06 am

And if count those daft, suffering, money no enough and angry Sinkies who will vote opposition, maybe only 40% or even less.

So why need to spend so much on Sinkies? Better spend on "strength in numbers" foreigners and new Sinkies for better returns and votes (new Sinkies), tio bo?

    Anon 9:06 am

Please don't exaggerate by saying "billions in returns" lah.

Just say better returns spending billions on foreigners as compared to spending billions on Sinkies is good and convincing enough already.

And I am convinced PAP did the right thing, as long as for PAP, majority (aka 60%) Sinkies are very scared to accidentally vote PAP out in a GE because WP is not ready to be govt.

  10. RB, I am afraid even the opposition MPs do not know how much was spent on foreign students and where the money goes in this case. Are the people who benefit from this $2B are ordinary Singaporeans or to their supporters e.g. lodging, home care, tuitions etc.

  12. Cannot say Oppositions dont know how much was spent on foreign students and where the money goes lah.
Even if no one checks or asks, every centwill be accounted for as we have a incorruptible government. They paid themselves to prevent corruption.

  13. If Sinkies still do not wake up by the next GE, and if the PAP, by a freek election, take back all the opposition wards, praying to God for help is no longer of any use.

That the PAP is making token changes to policies is just like giving lollipops and candies to children, and hope they can be lured to their side. But the fear is that some children are naive to fall for that old trick. By then, praying to God for help is too little too late to be of any use.

In any case, God seems to exists merely to save the Queen of England, not ordinary folks hor!

  14. Also heard that thousands of foreign students owe the universities $millions of study loans that they cannot or refuse to pay back. WHAT A WASTE! If only the money had gone as scholarships to thousands of Singaporeans. Transparency means reporting this huge LOSS in Parliament. WHEN please?

  17. @ dazed and confused redbean:

Wah lau uncle, I thought you would have figured it out already.

    Here it is:

    1. Experimentation in social engineering -- a young cuntree should experiment with social policy. No surprises here --- the PAP are ex-spurts at social engineering. Modern Singapore---as we know it, and experience it is a result of SOCIAL ENGINEERING---generally successful with a few epically collossal cock ups here and there. That is to be expected, so don't bother complaining --- what's done, is done. ;-)

    2. Education-based stealth immigration -- very simple, get young, driven, intelligent youngsters from other CULTURES, and "make it easy" for THE BEST to study in Singapore, after which many of them will stay, now familiar with the culture and the society, armed with RECOGNISED qualifications---lots of job opportunities here.

Remember that the foreign students who are awarded scholarships to study in Singapore are among the best and brightest from their respective cultures and societies.

So if they stay, set up home and raise families in Singapore, the PAP projects that (bless their eugenics-believing souls) these smart, young turks will inject their "smart genes" into the local gene pool.

    3. Polishing The Brand -- The Singapore Brand is worth BIG BUCKS. Giving away scholarships demonstrated to the world, Singapore is prepared to put its money where its mouth is. the reputation of Singapore's learning institutions is legion --- they are rated "the best" or "among the best" in polls, awards, rankings etc. This is high value shit, and Singapore---in its most benevolent and gracious style---willingly gives away scholarships....BUT....only to THE BEST.

SO there you are redbean. The Benign Dictatorship has spoken, and acted in its usual unilateral way.

How's yur democracy meter? Broken yet? ;-)

P.S. I actually think this is wonderful policy. I've long been a supporter of mixing up the Singapore gene pool. Normally I find social engineering distasteful---like how you would cross-breed and manipulate bloodlines in farm animals for the best produce.

However in the Singapore context, I feel that the cuntree needs some serious social engineering if it was to continue being awesome and rocking!

  19. ...heard that thousands of foreign students owe the universities $millions of study loans that they cannot or refuse to pay back."
    Anon 10:54 am

That is to be expected lah, but these are the minority, definitely not more than 40% of all foreign students.

U cannot expect 100% foreign students to pay back their loans, or for PAP, short of a 100% walkover, to get 100% of votes in a GE, do u?

If only 60% of foreign students repay their loans, this is very good already.

  20. Aiyah, you should know that when these foreign students go back to
their countries they will tell the whole world that sinkies government is very tok Kong giving free education. They will praise sinkies cheng hu sky high.
Now if they give to sinkies you think sinkies will tell the world. Even if they want to praise who will listen. tio bo.

  21. Somebody ought to ask and make the MOE Director Ms Ho Peng accountable for her action.

$2b is a lot of money.

When these so called "scholars" graduated, many are required to work for "local SMEs"for 6 years to repay their contribution. Yet we keep hearing local SMEs decrying the death of talents who wants to work for them. Why?

Very simple..many graduates have their parents/relatives who are already migrated here, set up a local SMEs and they in turn pretend to be "on secondment and working for local SMEs. However, many of them actually return back to China/India or their home country, to work and earn a higher salary back home, while retaining a "fake" residence and working permit in SG.

This is already a known facts and big Loopholes people are talking about. But is MOM cracking down on such group? Are they tracking them?

That's your winning policy by our brain-smart but not street-smart PAP scholars. Either that, they deliberately close an eye and let that happens. And you wonder why our local SMEs are always in shortage of talents and productivity.

The law makers would rather go after people who break laws here, than after workplace fraudsters who cheat taxpayers $2b monies.

  24. Actually why such JUICY and SENSATIONAL articles ONLY appear in TRE and the internet ? Huh ?

    Why lah?

    Why ?

Why can't the opposition which is already in Parliament bring this up and debate it? I mean if the article is true and factually correct, and can stand the test of scrutiny, bring it up!

  25. RB: "Don't be stupid lah. Many came from small villages where the marks are simply given to look good and many could not make it here. Some made it but scooted".

Can let our own Sinkies take the SAME Univ Entrance Exams like these village students, and be entitled to SAME privilege of Univ entry? Why not?

So why deny university places to Sinkies who worked so hard for good Univ-eligible A-Level and O-Level grades. Also why more Poly grads cannot be admitted to Universities?

"Too many Univ grads" is NOT Valid Excuse anymore, since the SAME number of Univ students WILL graduate, except we have just many more Sinkies!

WHY discriminate against our OWN people, MOE?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Ask your MP why give money to foreigners and not to your children.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Red Bean,

What Matilah said is correct. PAP is expert in Social Engeering. That is why the Sinkies are now so tamed, subservient, obedient, kiasi, kiasu and kia cheng hu, through years of psychological warfare and operations and indoctrination.

But over the last 15 years, the Old Form of Social Engineering started to crack. Some Sinkies have awakened and some began to be more aware of the things not going right for them, aware of the inconsistency between leaders" words and deeds, aware of sheding of crocodile tears and insincere apologies, etc.

Through national policies crafted by the Small Group of Elitist Elites (especially easy-rider white-horse scholars with brains but no hearts, with theories but no experiences, with words but no actions, with comfortable life but no hardship),many have become the disadvantaged groups and saw their income dwindling and their quality of life diminishing.

This group has began to stir and turn and therefore more and more people are becoming aware of the danger of giving unfettered power to only a small select group of people who have to pay themselves out of this world millionaire salaries in order to stay not corrupt. So the voting pattern are switching against The Kingpin.

Therefore The King of Social Engineering cracked his Big Brain and came out with a New Version of Social Engineering. This time it is not to convert the people into sheep but to replace them. This to the layman simply means "Population Replacement" = replace the local voters with new citizen voters. Master Stroke Strategy to entrench and prolong power forever!

So, over the last 10 to 15 years, immediately after the Old God had publicly predicted the downfall of the Papa Party, the New Social Engineering Policy kicked in. The anti-party voters shall be replaced with pro-party voters, irrespective of where they come from. First from China, then later from other countries.

First started in China, every city in China, they picked at least 10 14 year-old students to come to SIN City to study for 7 to 8 years (from Sec 3 to JC to University) free, everything free - at the expense of taxpayers and local citizens. Free education, free logging at School Dormitory, free monthly allowance of $400 to $450 (our hardship cases only got $300 per family per month)PLUS Free Tuition Monday to Friday at their Dormitory to ensure that they succeed at all costs. Some of them had to go for extra English Language Classes to improve their English - also fully paid with local taxpayers money.

After completing their education, 7 to 8 years later, they are bonded by having to work in SIN City for 5 years.

Once they reached 21 years old, they are offered Citizenship. So who will these new citizens vote?

Being indoctrinated at such a young impressionable age, being grateful, being beholden in a way, WHO WILL THESE NEW CITIZENS VOTE?

How much you say? $2 billion per year? That is likely the figure for public consumption only.

  28. Talk talk talk, no use.

    Talk again

Everyday talk, speculate and spread rumours.

$2b? Maybe it is $3b, or $4B, or $3.53b? Might as well say $5b lagi more sensational ?

You got opposition in parliament right? Why not ask your friendly opposition member to raise it where it matters ?

    ReplyDelete
  29. yes, opposition MPs in Parliament should ask for detailed information on how many of these free-loaders are there from the past 10 years to present time.

Also ask for the detail breakdown of expenditure on scholarships, bursaries, grants and loans to foreign students.

Some of these may have been converted to PR or Citizen Status, so their figures might be conveniently left out of the total count. Therefore, the details should include these PRs and New Citizens as well.

The G must be pressured to come clean with full transparency and accountability before the coming GE.
