Hsien Loong – next GE a deadly serious fight for Singapore’s future
I quote Neo Chai Chin’s first paragraph in the front page of Today on the PAP60 Rally dated 8 Dec. ‘The Republic’s future and society are at stake in the next General Election because it will be about who forms the Govt and not merely how many seats the Opposition captures…said Hsien Loong’. I agree that this is a serious fight but I have a slightly different take on this. Yes it is a deadly ‘live or die’ fight for the PAP. For the Singaporeans, it is a fight for the future of their children and grandchildren. I think the foreigners will also be betting their future on this GE. They must be betting their future for a PAP win.
Hsien Loong added, ‘A great deal is at stake, comrades. Our future is at stake because if we do not remain a nation of opportunity, our children will have no future…If PAP fails, Singapore is in deep trouble…’ I would like Hsien Loong to clarify if the ‘Our future’ is about the future of his comrades or about the future of Singaporeans. What do you think?
I think Hsien Loong meant this to be about Singaporean and the future of the children of Singaporeans. As for the part Singapore will be in deep trouble if PAP fails, how so, no one else can run this country? I beg to differ.
There are quite a few interesting statements from the media like ‘this will be the last time a PAP CEC will be elected’, ‘eventually there’ll will be no more PAP to check’, and ‘That will be the last “check” , because it will be checkmate.’
In the same article, the concluding paragraph has a quote by Christopher De Souza, ‘It’s very easy to be a people’s party or a party for the people and speak about ideas, all the more to translate those ideas into action.’ What was Christopher trying to say by not saying? Can anyone figure out?
So many pages of the msm have been devoted to this rally. Even the TV has been telecasting the speech by Hsien Loong over and over again. There are many things to digest, many good things, many right things and many things that are not so clear. Many people would read the speech with different ideas.
What I like about is the repetition of opportunities for Singaporeans and the children of Singaporeans. ‘This is a place where our children can dream big, achieve their aspirations and live well in Singapore.’ I really hope so. I really hope so. I have children and grandchildren, and I want them to be the beneficiary of their forefathers’ blood, sweat and tears and not to be kicked aside in favour of darling foreigners, clever foreigners.
Who would the people vote to protect the future of their children and grandchildren?
Kopi Level - Blue, thank you
As for the part Singapore will be in deep trouble if PAP fails, how so, no one else can run this country?
ReplyDeleteRB
How so?
As "ka ki lang" WP Teochew Ah Hia already said, and it is worth repeating, majority (aka 60%) Sinkies are very scared they accidentally vote PAP out in a GE because WP is not ready to be govt.
If in doubt, always remember what Ah Hia said and 93% chance Ah Hia will be right.
After PAP, the next strongest party is Ah Hia's WP.
ReplyDeleteHence if PAP fails, and WP is not ready to be govt, how can Singapore not be in deep trouble, u tell me lah?
Hence I agree with PM Lee on this.
And if WP is not ready, which opposition party(s) is(are) ready? Ready to disagree and disunited among themselves?
Don't mention other things, just look at Hainan Ah Ko and Teochew Ah Hia. Are they talking?
Deadly serious for them because they are about to lose their pants.
ReplyDeleteI agree that Sinkieland will be in deep trouble when PAP is voted out.
ReplyDeleteBut only for a period of time, after which things will get sorted out and become stable.
How long the period will also depend very much on Sinkies themselves, especially smart and selfless Sinkies willing to step forward to provide better leadership and service for Sinkies.
In a crisis, the natural leaders will appear to lead.
ReplyDeleteCorrect ! There will be no room for cronies or kaki nang.
Deletecorrect me if i am wrong
ReplyDeleteif there is no pap mp and only consists of any oppositions mp
will it be like lee li lian waste money do flooring and dunno how to do properly? turn all singapore hdb area into slump? than look like hong kong or potong pasir? wp already no money, still wan waste money?
pap mp can still move into other area if they are not mp anymore? like maybe temasek holdding? or any company that got pap members?
when all pap mp is voted out, does the pap minister still remain in their jobs? is mp and minister different category? or is it same, as in which ever party take over majority as mp, they can elect their own party members as minister and president?
can tony tan still be president? is he pap or is he president?
is all party just like a company? like ntuc, ntuc finest, cold storage?
7-eleven a lot of franchise with different bosses, but all belong to 7-eleven? does the small boss of a 7-eleven small franchise, need to pay tribute to the big boss?
>> If PAP fails, Singapore is in deep trouble…’
ReplyDeleteNo lah, not "deep" trouble. But there will be chaos, as the kiasu-kiasis sell short and fuck off to Canada and Australia. There'll probably be bank runs too, possibly blood on the streets and people running around as if the world is ending.
Most people will OVERREACT and make BAD DECISIONS.
To me this would be a great buying opportunity. In about 6 months to a year, prices will return to "normal", then sell up and party!
Remember the Handover of Hong Kong to China in 1997? All the doom and gloom sentiment. silly fuckers selling up their mansions and fucking off, and smart fuckers buying up, holding and staying put to enjoy the awesome life, terrific food and lowest taxes in the world.
I don't think anything will change. Singapore is not a 3rd world country yet. Even after the fall of Marcos and Suharto, everything was normal.
ReplyDeleteBut like you said, those with illgotten wealth would flee. That is for sure. They would not want to stick around.
"I would like Hsien Loong to clarify if the ‘Our future’ is about the future of his comrades or about the future of Singaporeans. What do you think? "
ReplyDeleteWere you in the audience? No? Then obviously he was not talking to you or about you.
"...Singapore will be in deep trouble if PAP fails,... "
ReplyDelete----------------
I think PM Lee has not yet read the memo.
PAP already failed liao.
Singapore is already in deep trouble liao.
And natural Singaporean leaders are already filling the gap left behind by the already failing PAP.
Hougang, Aljunied, Punggol East ....
@RB:
ReplyDeleteThe wealth and freedom of every smokin' modern cuntree rests on the talent of their entrepreneurs and robustness of their private sector.
This is why America--with all its problems and short comings-- is still standing and private wealth is accumulating.
Same deal with China and India--awesome private sectors drive the place. However, governments are quick to take the credit...so what's new?
Singapore's private sector is also wonderful. Although there's established wealth, there is a lot of YOUNG wealth being created -- as is the case in China and India too.
One reason to enjoy a glorious PAP defeat is that the GLCs stocks would plummet like rotting durian, and the companies will be sold off for pennies to private interests -- people who have the talent, skill and energy to put their own resources, and lives on the line, instead of hiding behind a govt bailout "safety net" paid for by national reserves, CPF, or directly bilking the taxpayer.
Govt involvement in the private sector (e.g. SPH, MediaCorp, DBS, SMRT, SGX etc etc)-- that shit has got to die as fast as possible. It is RIDICULOUS to think the govt can derive revenue from taxes AND use those taxes to COMPETE with the finite resources of private individuals. Fuck that shit lah.
Govt in private business space ===>>> DISASTER!
@119:
ReplyDeletePlease lah, Singapore is not even close to being in deep trouble.
Certain Singaporeans who can't find it in themselves to be "happy" -- they are in serious deep shit, but I can guarantee you, the rest of the cuntry is doing fabulously!
PAP is not Singapore and LHL is not PAP ... he can fail, some says he had ... but PAP has good people still ...
ReplyDeleteso it does not matter what the civil servants vote right?
ReplyDeletethan why are they so afraid?
unresolved grievances
ReplyDelete'will it be like lee li lian waste money do flooring and dunno how to do properly? turn all singapore hdb area into slump? than look like hong kong or potong pasir? wp already no money, still wan waste money?'
No one said you are stupid so please don't prove to us that you are.
How true the saying that you do not shed a tear until you see the coffin?
ReplyDeleteNo worry about blood flowing on the streets.
ReplyDeleteAt most the Army will patrol around for a few days if PAP loses it's majority in the General Election. Sinkies are quai quai wan, very law abiding as a whole.BUT, got to make sure that those with ill gotten wealth must be brought to justice la like what China is doing now. Surely there must be quite a few in Sin.
No matter what '乱世 出英雄', heroes are made in great adversity, there is no need to worry about the Collapse of PAP. The earlier It is replaced, the shorter will be the Suffering.
It is obvious that the PAP REGIME has failed very badly, It is like a malignant tumour, the earlier It is removed the better.

Lai lai lai !
ReplyDeleteMai khek khi !!
Let's join Matilah Singapura
to fuck the Papies and overcum

Who is fear mongering? Singapore in deep trouble?
ReplyDeleteEvery country also has trouble one lah. Got perfect country? It is human dna to survive every crisis with or without papists.
ReplyDeleteTHe message should read 'if my lies fail, pap is in deep trouble..."
ReplyDeletei admit i am stupid.
ReplyDeleteit a fact. if u cant accept fact and make things better for next generation. forget about which party. maybe only vote chee who go jail before?
u need a coffin too? but u got no balls to tell me who u are.

got free coffin for me? thanks. need to collect at which mps?
>>411pm
ReplyDeleteno one can make things better for you or your next generation except yourself and especially not politicians.
Hi RB, speed. All this excitement about the next Singapore GE is getting people very vocal and agitated. As a foreigner I am also quite intrigued by the forthcoming event. Deep down I still think the PAP will continue to hold the rein for running the country after the GE, albeit with a smaller majority.
ReplyDeleteI will sit back and watch the wayang. Ang Pau will be distributed, boundaries will be redrawn, bonuses will be increased and Singaporeans will enjoy the windfalls. Good luck to all. Lets have a clean fight, if possible?
"Eventually there will be no more PAP to check".
ReplyDeleteThis is so full of nonsense!
Does Lee mean that PAP is no more the ruling party in that scenario? Then, PAP will do the checking on whoever won the elections. What's the problem with that?
Now, if Lee meant that PAP will turn tail and run away if they lose the elections, then his words may be technically correct but then it also meant that all the PAP candidates are spineless and nothing but opportunists if they do not stay to check the ruling party.
Worse still, it could also imply that they have been doing illegal things and have to flee the country once they lose power. That is something very serious to consider and I hope Lee clarifies it is not what he meant!
Otherwise, why would PAP not remain as a check on the next govt?
Within the PAP ranks .... I'm sure there are many who would rather Lee Hsien Loong step down after GE 2016.
ReplyDeleteBut until PAP gets a disastrous GE 2016 results.
These PAP anti-Lee faction have to keep quiet.
The next GE is a deadly serious fight for PAP's future.
ReplyDeleteNOT Singaporean's future.
Singaporeans' future over the last 10 years under PAP rule is already gone case liao.
GE 2016.
It's either PAP or Singaporeans' future.
If it is PAP, then there is no future for Singaporeans anymore.
It is either PAP or WP. If WP then Singapore can go deficit like their town council, also nothing wrong lah.
ReplyDeleteGo deficit, can get used to it one. In the advanced countries, all also run deficits, we must be like them. What is wrong with that ?
Vote WP ! Huat AH !!
Anon 10:14, deficit nevermind, once you form government, can use grants to cover the deficit until got surplus.
