Tan Jee Say – A poignant letter, a challenge to hard truths

Jee Say has written a letter to the President, Tony Tan, to address “the very serious charge” that “the Internal Security Act had been used for political purposes”.

He was referring to the Operation Coldstore and the charges that the Barisan politicians were communists and is using declassified British documents kept at the British National Archives in Kew, London to prove his point. The details of his letter can be found in TRE under the heading, ‘Mr President, I urge you to seek the truth about Operation Coldstore and Battle for Merger during your State visit in the UK’. Below is an example of his quotes:

‘I referred to recently declassified British Government documents relating to Operation Coldstore which revealed that Lord Selkirk, the UK Commissioner to Singapore at that time, reported to Duncan Sandys, secretary of state for the colonies, that:

‘there is no important new evidence of subversive activity on which arrests at this juncture can be justified. We could not substantiate a charge that they are planning to use violence. In the absence of specific evidence of subversion the arrests would be construed as an attempt by HMG to stifle legitimate opposition.‘ (Geoff Wade)’

He is demanding that the President gives him a reply following the President’s challenge issued during the 2011 Presidential Election TOC TV Forum that Jee Say must back up his charges against the Govt. Jee Say also said, ‘You(President Tony Tan) owe it to the people of Singapore to do so particularly when you asked for evidence to prove that the ISA had been used for political purposes.’

Would there be a reply or would nothing be said? The charges by Jee Say are very serious indeed and could change historical facts in our history books. And criminals could be set free while their accusers could be put behind bars. Black will become white and white becomes black.

Whatever that would happen following this open letter, one thing is clear, Jee Say is not a stooge and he meant business. He is going for the jugular.

Ya lah, but can Jee Say (aka Hainan Ah Ko) and party win seats in the next election, and which he could not in previous ones?

If he cannot, then his business will be the same for the next 5 years as was for the past 5 years.

    Tio bo, u say lah?

    Anon 10:03 am

Of course Chan Chun Sing is the winner in a GE lah. Because he belongs to the PAP which is ready to be govt mah.

As WP Teochew Ah Hia had said, and it is worth repeating, the point is that majority Sinkies (aka 60%) are very scared they accidentally vote PAP out in a GE because WP is not ready to be govt.

Is Jee Say (aka Hainan Ah Ko) party ready to be govt, u tell me lah?

  7. Seriously, Jee Say is going to make Ops Cold Store and ISA his election issues??! No brainer starters! As Chok Tong's Principal Personal Assistant (PPA), Jee Say was privy to many, many stuff which he cannot now share under the Official Secrets Act (OSA). Is he going to say then that OSA is abused to muzzle the Opposition? Better he focus on current and future REAL Issues affecting Singaporeans. WHO cares about past Cold Storage and ISA?

  9. Jee Say or Roy or Sze Hian interested in NTU breaking the law?
No, Not interested? Then why care so much about CPF, Operation Cold Store, Internal Security Act, HDB and whatever.
If PAP kakis suka suka break the laws, what else they dare not do.
    Wake up, people! Stop dreaming!

  10. For all we know Anon 10.21 may be paid to do his work.

The IB have been told not to praise the PAP, otherwise show horse leg, so pretend a little bit anti-PAP, a little bit pro-opposition, seems he does not like Hainan Ko and Teochew Ah Hia, but at the end of his comments always pointing his aim and belittling WP.

  11. Anyway, power can create evidence. Whoever has the power, has the last say in the affair of this small island.

Democratically, Tony Tan should not be president because he is not elected by the majority (aka >50%). In other words, majority of the population actually does not want him to be president.

  12. So long as Jee Say is not able to work together with the Other Alternative Parties. And the Other Parties remain as splitted as they have always being. He is nothing to the Rulers nor can he be of much help to the People.
The Same applies to All the Alternative Parties and their Leaders.

  13. Erh, Singaporeans used to run and hide when the rulers mentioned and offered them 'help'. Some even resort to begging - 'tolong, please do not help us'.

So, whether any opposition member or party can help or not is not the issue. The issue is things must now change to make ordinary Singaporean's life more tolerable. Just today we received a letter informing us about increase in pre-school fees of almost 20%. Singapore society is just like 'boh cheng hu' nowadsys.

  14. And they want people to make more babies. Who is going to pay for the upbringing? Who can afford to have babies?
