Singaporeans that made us proud

(30 Sep) – For a Secondary One student just crowned champion at the Asian Games, Jodie Lai was remarkably calm.

“I’m very happy because I won gold,” said the Singaporean sailor, cool as you like, as cameras flashed and reporters thrust phones in her face.

Lai, 13, finished clear of an eight-woman field in the optimist race Tuesday afternoon, after nearly a week of racing at the Wangsan Marina in Incheon, South Korea....

Raynn Kwok was awarded a late silver in his optimist race after protesting his initial fourth-place finish. The 12-year-old is now Singapore’s youngest-ever medalist at the Asian Games, displacing fellow sailor Ryan Lo who was 13 when he won bronze in the optimist event in 2010.

  1. So the next target for Sinkies should be a medal won by Sinkies, not instant Sinkies, at the Olympics.

Maybe that will be difficult, maybe even more difficult than getting the Sinkie opposition to be ready to be govt.

  3. Sinkies or instant sinkies also never mind lah. Youknowlah and his wife are even british subjects and still pm for so long. Majority sinkies do not bother so much about such detail so long as can win medals.

  8. All these medal awards are unnecessary .
Sad to say that the purpose of sport has been totally different from what I thought it should be.
It can turn someone to betray his country, representing the country of anyone who can reward or bribe him and one can even compete with his countrymen without feeling sense of shame.
Sport is now a dirty activity to me.All these medal are rubbish and can only make one more greedy, has side effect and will only make me look down on sportsmen if they participate for the purpose of medal.
I have my own You Know What sport too but I need not ask for a medal for having the most push up on the most You Know What.
Sports are healthy activity and the award with medal should be abolish.

  9. And I see all those awarded names mentioned are all having angmo names .Are they children of FT or Angmokia?Or is it many Sinkies have become angmo ?How can I believe they are Sinkies.

  10. With instant Sinkies, Sinkieland can win medals.

    PAP can win votes.

So, except for daft, suffering and real Sinkies, who cares about angmo, PRC, Pinoy or whatnot names among instant Sinkies?

  11. Agongkia is right. Sports to keep fit and healthy and one shud encourages others to do sports and better to do it with others to enjoy and stay healthy. Just to get rewarded and become famous and push oneself too hard for it(sport) is unhealthy to the body. And losing loyalty by selling self to represent others is traitor royale.

  12. Any politician who wants to have sports medals must use his own money. Do not use public funds for their own ego and hobby.

Since when did Sinkies become cheap and convenient to be instant ?
