Below is a letter to TRS post by a Tan to give more details of what was going on in this case.
Dear TRS
I refer to "PRC family allegedly tried to take over $40 million assets of 87 year old widow".
I am a resident at Gerald Crescent and would like offer some insights
into the recent saga between Madam Chung and Yang Yin, the China tour
guide who tried to swindle the widow’s millions. The background story
has already been published but I will offer more supporting evidence. As
one of the residents living near this particular bungalow, I have
spoken to Mdm Chung and her family on some occasions and have heard from
them, and other neighbours, more about Mr Yang Yin.
Yang Yin recently tried to apply for Singaporean citizenship. In order
to get his PR in 2009, he used money taken from Madam Chung to purchase a
degree from a “University of Financial Trade” in Beijing to aid his
application. However, the university does not at all exist.
To further his application, Yang Yin also set up a shell company named
“Young Music and Dance Studio” to declare his occupation as a dance
teacher. Despite the shell not having any active students, the ICA
approved his PR application without any due diligence.
I subsequently wrote to the ICA in 2012 to complain but this fell on deaf ears.
Over the past 5 years, Yang Yin has taken countless art pieces from
Madam Chung’s private art gallery to sell off at a discounted rate to
their worth. Her private art gallery occupies an entire building in the
grounds of her bungalow and contains numerous priceless art pieces. He
has additional represented himself as an art expert to further this goal

To further his citizenship application, he has also participated in
numerous PAP grassroots events while claiming to help the PRC community
in Singapore as the “Executive Director of the Singapore Chinese
Immigrants Association” and a “Director of Singapore Chamber of
Commerce”. He has numerous interactions with PAP MPs and ministers. He
even has had the opportunity to take pictures with PM Lee.
Over the past 5 years, he has taken millions in cash from Madam Chung
and lived lavishly off the proceeds, including taking monthly holidays
to China and Japan on first class flights while staying in luxury
suites. At the same time, he has neglected Madam Chung to the extent
that the former multi-millionaire does not even have $1.50 to buy bread.

If the supporting evidence by a Tan above is indeed true, I am very concerned whether there are many more Yang Yins around and being given PR, or even citizenship, which comes with voting privilege.

Mdm Chung's family must take part of the blame. Business whether genuine or real is between two parties. Willing seller and willing buyer. When they make millions, no one know but when they got cheated, all cry foul. I empathise but not sympathetic.

ReplyDelete1. The fact established that he is talented. How many people can claim his achievements. You may not like his talent but he is talented. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder so too bad u do not agree about his talent, Tio Bo?
So the immigration rightly grant him his PR and possibly later citizenship application.
2. This story again re enforce the govt is right in with holding the money from sinkies on their cpf for their safe protection. As one of the writer pointed out, it should be extended to nationalized the oldies assets once they hit 55. Imagine if regulations are in place, u think the poor woman would lose anything? She will be drawing a nice monthly annuity so max her damage would be a small sum monthly.
Now, RB I hope you now understand the govt intention of with holding your cpf. In fact they are not doing enough cause too many people kpkb on the cpf that the govt is hesitant to move to enhance the protection, Tio Bo? U tell me lar.

But this is still not a reason to withhold our CPF money.
Free country, free choice.
- Those that feel they cannot be trusted with their own money ... they can have the option to continue to leave money with the PAP government.
- Those that feel they can manage their own money should be free to withdraw all their cpf money at 55 years old per original PAP promise

Charge this Ying Yang or Yang Ying whatever and make him surrender all his assets and jail him.

ReplyDeleteOne of the main issues now is the high cost of rentals/ land prices/ property prices. Such costs are practically passed on to every damn thing YEW name it. The Chinese have one phrase for human needs in order to sustain oneself: "衣，食，住，行". Practically every good and service needed by sinkies in this land have to be paid through the nose. One commenter recently chided sinkies for complaining about high food prices at some mass market food outlets and wrongfully jumped to the conclusion that sinkies were complaining about being fleeced by hawkers. Or so it appeared. Was it that the commenter could have been an IB tasked to shadow MSN and purportedly twisted the feedback to appear sinkies even complained being fleeced by hawkers which is generally not the case. What sinkies actually IMPLIED is that even food courts pricing are so elevated at some outlets possibly due to being "FLEECED" by land owners and ultimately passed on to every sinkies! At the current rate, much earnings of the masses are being "Sucked" into the pockets of the land and property owners. In the event of a major downturn, many common folks especially the lower half of SINKIELAND may not have any or enough or good buffers to sustain their livelihoods decently. It is very sad to see that the bulk of the fruits of the monthly labour of many sinkies go to lining the pockets of the already very rich land and property owners. On top of that, with all these constant taxation here, taxation there such as levies, GST, erp, coe, water conservation taxes, over due utilities penalties, money greedy telcos which terminate phone services nowadays just for one month overdue etc etc, majority of bottom half of sinkies ability to cope with their livelihoods is greatly diminished. In the event of the next major downturn, the ramifications of current economic ills would be magnified many folds and the consequences and economic impact on the bottom half of sinkies UNIMAGINABLE! Such is the sad state of affairs in SINKIELAND. It is not a tale of TWO cities! It is a SIN city of TWO TALES of widening social stratification!

ReplyDeleteHowever, even if the paper generals want to, it is an extremely delicate task and process to unwind from sinkieland's current somewhat extreme and highly imbalance cost structure.
It is akin to being "trapped" between a rock and a hard place. Either way is not a palatable solutuon. Either a huge economic tsunami would "assist" to puncture the current huge bubble or alternatively somehow being forced into cold turkey like a drug addict. Both would wrought huge pains and displacement and send big shocks, after shocks, tremors and huge reverberations across the entire spectrum of the economy.
