CPF Protest Rally - Today is the Day

The CPF Rally is today, 4 pm at Hong Lim Park. Singaporeans who want to know more about what is happening to their CPF savings would be briefed by at least 7 speakers, including Tan Kin Lian, Leong Sze Hian, Vincent Wijesingha, KJ Jeyaretnam, Han Hui Hui, M Ravi and Roy Ngerng. Yahoo reported that Reform Party speaker would be Prabu Ramachandran. He may have replaced KJJ.

These speakers will be talking about the CPF from the people's point of view, like looking at a coin from the other side. The young Singaporeans and those reaching 55 must want to know what is going to happen to their money when they reach 55.

A big crowd is expected today, rain or shine.

  1. How come Hainan Ah Ko not in the list of speakers har? Is he overseas today?

I ask because he used to be a speaker in past Hong Lim rallies.

And why Gilbert also not in the list? One would have expected him to be there to show solidarity, but no.

And why son of JBJ got another speaker from his party? To replace him or to strengthen him?

Is the anti-CPF min sum, anti-PAP front united?

  2. According to what Leong Sze Hian wrote, Roy and Hui Hui have invited all the opposition parties. Not sure if they also invited the PAP.

KJ was slotted to be a speaker earlier. Just read Yahoo reporting on Prabu. I am not sure who would eventually be speaking.

Gilbert is the Champion on worker's right and employment. Roy is now the Champion of CPF.

Just be there and you will find out.

That's the problem with Sinkie individuals and entities, and needless to say, the Sinkie opposition. They are not united as a common front as one entity/party/leader to deal with PAP.

And if they are not even united as one before having power, what do you expect when they are given the power? What are the chances of them fighting each other for power, instead of governing better than PAP?

No wonder 60% is still sceptical about voting opposition, despite PAP screwing daft Sinkies hard.

  5. By far, the most attended protest on national issues was the Feb 2013 PWP HLP protest. Based on many reliable estimates, the number of people who attended the event exceeded 5,000. Arguably the PWP controversy cut through the entire cross-section of the population and found significant spontaneous response from people of all walks both young and old.

  6. The upcoming CPF HLP protest seems equally broad based in terms of the impact on the people concerned. Potentially, any citizen is affected and not just the working adults but students and retirees alike.

  14. You people are just too free...

Perhaps, if you spend your time on things more productive, you won't be so grouchy all the time.

    I'm just saying...

Anonymous interpretation [ no guarantee, ha ha :))) ]:

People's retirement money earned with 49 years of blood and sweat.

Toiling from 16 to 65 years old from morning till sunset.

Now so sick, old and sad, surviving on mouldy bread.

Heaven heaven, can you hear my cries and deep sorrows?

For me cannot see tomorrow, how can survive until 100 years old?

Heaven heaven, if you have tears, will you also cry?

Can you tell them you can hear millions cry?

For they cannot survive to see tomorrow's sunshine

Being good and work hard, but cannot see any sunshine

    so cold, dark and old

    got no more tomorrow .....

    orange $ become papaya $, front $ change $

front $ no change, forever dark dark dark ?

  16. WILL YOU STAY IF IT RAINS
    -------------------------
If it rains, will you stand in the rain ?
If you run and seek shelter … you will lose credibility.

Remember NDP 1968 – the day in rained on our parade.

    Stand firm in the rain.
And the message will be very clear to all Singaporeans.

    Don’t worry about the PAPigs.
They are deaf, dumb, blind and stupid.
PAP will not change their CPF policies.

This Hong Lim Protest Rally is directed to all Singaporeans.

    Weather @3.50 pm.

    Clear and breezy day.

    Nice weather.

Heaven is smiling at the folks in Hong Lim Park.

    People are still streaming in.

The grass are dry and so those oldies getting tired standing can sit on the ground with their small ground sheet :)

  19. To clarify. Prabu has not been with the Reform Party for some time now. He is now in civil society and therefore he speaks in a personal capacity.
I spoke and a young woman from our Youth wing read out RP's statement.

  20. The Prabu part came from Yahoo. There was no Prabu speaking yesterday and Kenneth spoke himself.
