The Sinkie mindset – No Choice!

FIFA World Cup Subscription: Singaporeans Taken For A Ride
Senior Minister of State (Communications and Information) Lawrence Wong had claimed that the Singapore government has “no say in” the subscription prices for the FIFA World Cup “Because Singapore is a small market and has a high demand for World Cup matches, FIFA will consider the country’s purchasing power and act accordingly“.

The above is posted by Roy Ngerng in his blog The Heart Truth. The reason why Sinkies have no choice but to pay exorbitant subscription fees just to watch the World Cup is the same reason why Sinkies have no choice about what to do with their CPF, that the Medishield Life is compulsory, and many other things, is simply that they have been trained to accept No Choice as an answer. And the reasoning given by FIFA to charge Sinkies higher rate is the same kind of reasoning the govt has been telling the Sinkies, it resonates very well in the minds of the leaders. So they happily accepted this as No Choice, and who is paying? Who is paying?

Roy Ngerng pointed to many other countries that are similar in population and income level and are paying so much lesser than Sinkies. Why? No Choice or why they got Choice?

Sinkies are brought up to think that there is No Choice when the govt said so. And the govt has been so use to No Choice as the only choice and when confronted by FIFA, it makes perfect sense. They used the same logic, sing the same song, and believe the same clever reasoning. You can’t blame Lawrence Wong for it. He could not see anything wrong with it. In fact the logic of FIFA is perfect and absolutely logical and reasonable to our elite who have been using such logical logic on the Sinkies.

Sinkies got choice to pay lower COEs or public housing prices or rentals of HDB shops and food courts? If we can live with so many no choices, what is the difference in the FIFA no choice fee?

PS. Because of our purchasing power, or because we got money, it is very affordable.

    Tiok.

If I were him, I would have done the same too.

And with a 93% chance to get re-elected next GE and re-appointed as minister.

So why cannot use the same logic, sing the same song, and believe the same clever reasoning to tell Sinkies, u tell me lah?

  2. If S'pore is a small market then why we need 3 Telco companies? Why we need 2 Telco companies to provide pay tv services when they have to tender for their programmes? Why Singtel tender so high for EPL and World cup and pass the bulk to consumers? The consumers should unite and teach the Telco companies a lesson by not subscripting to their football channels.

  3. The Govt, through its TH companies, Starhub and especially Singtel really screw the football fans big time.
Where most other countries' fans enjoy free coverage or much lower prices, how did we end in such sad state of affair?
Somehow, this screwup also applies to some of their policies.
You know, I know and what we all need to do!

  4. RB, I may agree with the comment that Singapore has no choice provided SINTEL let us know exactly how much it has gained by showing this program. No point keep saying no choice but at the same time make money from us.

  6. "Singapore has a small market...." This sounds familiar....but Singapore is not too small to have so many MPs. Uniquely Singapore?!

  7. Fuck yew lah.

You have a choice: Don't watch football.

As far as the state is concerned, if it is LAW then you have no choice but to comply or if you want to test the resolve of the state, go ahead. You will lose ;-)

In life, there are many opportunities to make choices, so go ahead and knock yourselves out. However, you didn't have a choice to be born, and unless you make a choice to kill yourself, you don't have the choice of immortality.

So fuck yew. Grow the fuck up. You need money to live in Singapore. It is pointless complaining about it. If you are going to remain here, you will have to pay for virtually everything.

    Still got delusion or not?

  8. Singapore is not the best but also not bad compared to many third world countries. Human beings must understand that organisation such as FIFA, Worldcup, Olympics, F1 all fall under the 'give them bread and games' tactics of control and manipulation and a form of distraction to real issues happeneing in the world around us. Support them if you want to be controlled and manipulated by them. The choice lies in YOU.

  10. Hey Singaporeans, Matilah is correct. You have a choice, don't watch football if you cannot afford it. Don't just moan and bitch about the cost you have been asked to pay. Yew and the PAP have arranged it in such a way that only those who can afford it get to enjoy the matches. The rest of you pathetic and poor sheeples just go to McDonalds in the middle of the night to get your fix of soccer. You vote for the PAP, now you get the PAP treatment. So, just shut-up and suck it. Don't bitch. Am tired of hearing the great Singaporean sad story. Totally pathetic society. FTs are much better, at least they do not bitch like little children.

  11. Agreeded with Matilda, why should we pay such ridiculous fees, just don't watch, if no one watches, then see if the stupid high fees can be sustain, what's the big deal anyway, i have since stop watching 2 world cups ago, life still goes on.

Did'nt some short ass once said sin city would qualify for the world cup in 2010 or what.....dream on, just like all their promises, a big fat nothing, why support something and then still complain about it, there's is still lots of football still going on.

Just don't watch it, the results are still known, the betting still can be done, why support such stupid extortion, please la, if everyone still watch it, think of what price it can go to in the next world cup.....for heaven sake.....use your brains.

  13. WHAT DO YOU MEAN, NO CHOICE, Red Bean, where do you stand actually on your own article, you should have ask sinkies not to see, such stupid fees will be met even higher in the next WC, just like our cars which is the most expensive in the world, just like our CPF....we cannot do nothing about it but by bitching about it....where is the logic?, the price will still be the same, the answer will still be the same.

No one dies without watching it, in fact it might save a few lives by not watching.

    Where do you stand?

    YES!
We vote in an Opposition government and the 6.9 million population white paper will wither away ... just like LKY.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I don't watch football. A boycott is a good idea. Unfortunately the football fans are willing hostages in this case.

I don't blame the fans but the people negotiating the deal and accept the notion that there is no choice.

Heard of the Singapore premium? We always love to pay more than others because money is not an issue.

    ReplyDelete
  17. The 6.9 is of no choice because we do not control it, and as ppl is a sorce of revenue because since dunno how many years back when we were ask to freeze our salary, everyone seems to be ok with it, with the history of squeezing the $ out as a habit....the 6.9 will take effect even if hell freeze over.

If what i have seen, many sinkies seems to think the opposition is not ready, when the opposition will be ready?, only god knows but if the feeling is so, what is all the bitching still?, Not ready...so ppl cannot vote them, simple, why is there a need to waste brain cell, saying the same thing over and over again, and anon 9.12pm, how freaking sure are you that if we vote the opposition that the 6.9 will wither away, you're so sure that the opposition dun hold the same idea.

If you have noted, the white paper was never veto, it was re-arranged to make it sound better by our only opposition, as what Matilah had said, live life and be happy, can? Go over seas, if not just live with it.

  18. Singaporeans you are a load of plonkers. Get real man, just grow up and stop bitching. You voted for them, you got them. Now live with it.

    Anon 11:12 pm

He may not be ready in 1965 but majority Sinkies at that time thought he was the best to be PM.

U can also say PM Lee is not ready to be PM but it is majority Sinkies in 2011 who consider PAP is best to be ruling party and PAP consider Lee Hsien Loong is best to be PM.

    Understand?

It's the Sinkie mindset - No Choice.

    Actually hor.
PM Lee and PAP is nothing more than huk pui!
    Not the best.
    Not even good.
    Just no choice.

  24. Reduce election deposit to $1,000.
Then we see if PAP's candidates are really that good.
    Or just plain lousy.

    Eliminate GRCs.
Then we see PAP candidates can stand on their own two feet.

  25. Elections Department of Singapore should not report to the Prime Minister's Office.
Then cannot say you gerrymander right?

Then we see how good PAP really is.
