Singapore has topped a list of 131 cities globally to become the world's
most expensive cities to live in 2014, according to the Economist
Intelligence Unit (EIU), reported by the BBC. India's major cities -
including Mumbai and New Delhi - were found to be among the least
expensive in the world.’
This piece of news is really funny and I am going to write funnily. You
see, the talents from India are taking over many of the top jobs in Sin
City to help the City to grow. And they are getting all the plum jobs
and paid better than the Sinkies.
On the other hand, the daft Sinkies, after building this great City, are
getting less talented. I think it will be a good thing to switch
places. Let all the daft Sinkies sell their HDB flats and move over to
Mumbai or New Delhi while the Indians move over to take over Sin City.
Hopefully, this will put a big spur on the daft Sinkies’ hide and they
could rebuild Mumbai and New Delhi into a new and prosperous Sin Cities
with all the first world attributes like this most expensive city today.
It will give them the drive badly needed but lost through years of
affluence to be like their forefathers were, to build a new city for
themselves.
What do you think?

Rb: // A new social moral code and legal system that are more equitable would be brought in to replace the decadence legal system and moral code the rich elite have created for themselves, to protect their vested interests. //
How?
In 1993, there were about 48,000 new born.
In 2003, about 37,000.
The latest figure revealed is about 31,000 in 2013.
Can you see the implication in 10 to 20 years time?
Before what you mentioned in the above quoted statements could ever come about, likely more serious issues might have engulfed the society ....
Basically by another 18 years ( 2013 + 18 = 2031 ), you are staring at 8,500 less military and home team NSFs as compared to 2011 ( about 24,000 vs 15,500 ).
Old age problem is an important issue but not the most pivotal in our long term survival.
Stock market issue is also not the most daunting issue facing this little red dot.
But TFR is likely to be the decider of the future of this nation.
Over the next decade, if the TFR plummets like it did in the past two decades, many issues that netizens kpkb about might be moot because by then, it may be as good as game over for the sustainability aspect ..... Without sustainability, likely everything else becomes "irrelevant" ......
So there may be only one more chance left over the next few years and that's not VTO .....
It is to arrest the further decline in TFR and turn it around by " practically all means and any means ".
It seems at the moment "the whole nation's attention" is on PGP, COI etc than on this arguably most daunting issue confronting our long term sustainability and viability ..... Well, to "behave in the right manner and be accepted socially" let's all be "ostrich and bury our heads in the sand" pretending the problem is not there and "nobody can see the ostrich's body". Let's continue kicking the can down the road and "immersed ourselves in materialism, pure growth and merry making" for the next 10 years and somehow everything will be well ......
Ha ha
as a nation we may be left with this one last chance to resolve this TFR issue over the next few years otherwise our future generations may be back to catching fish for a living just like back in the 19th century when Sir Stamford Raffles arrived .....
Let's "toast" to the "job well done" by our hard working leaders and pioneer generation for bringing such a "hopeful" future for our next generations ....

When did they discover that the TFR is falling? What are the causes for the fall? Who is the culprit that is causing the fall? Is replacing TFR with foreigners a good solution?
Many developed countries have been living with near 0 TFR for many decades and are still kicking.
Falling TFR is a natural phenomenon in a way. The pop of the world must not be allowed to go up and up. When the population is low enough, the TFR will rise again when living becomes more conducive.
The biggest threat to mother earth is population explosion. It is actually desirable for a lower TFR, to stop the world population from growing for a few decades to stabilise the balance between resources and consumption.
Our crazy idea of unstoppable population growth as a must for economic growth comes from Woodbridge.

Hi RB and all,
ReplyDeleteThe numerous implications and ramifications of a low TFR could very likely be a serious concern and knock out blow for the older generation's children and grandchildren down the road.
Thus, it may be worth the effort to continue a polite discussion here on the issues concerned .....
In my opinion, the folks staying at the Institute Of Mental Health are the Smartest Sinkies. So, by extrapolation, ideas from there must be the Best available in Sinland.
ReplyDeletepatriot
Rb: // Is replacing TFR with foreigners a good solution? //
ReplyDeleteObviously not in the long term.
To build a sustainable nation in the long haul, self procreation sufficiently has to come about .....
What are the implications for the older generation's children and grandchildren still residing in this little red dot island in another 20, 30, 50 years if the current TFR trend continues and the newborn Singaporeans babies dropped to below 30,000 and eventually below 25,000 and even 20,000 from the 2013 31,000 newborn?
As mentioned previously, the number of newborn had plummeted from about 48,000 in 1993 to about 37,000 in 2003. That is a drop of 11,000 or about 25% from the 1993 level over a 10-year period.
Me am of the conviction that all mative Sinkies should not create anymore to suffer in Sin. Unless Sinkies are sure that he and she will provide happiness for their creations, they themselves should make an end to the misery of living in Sin.
ReplyDeleteLeaving Sin to live on another land could be an option for Sinkies.
patriot
Bro Patriot, new report current.
Deletewater usage up 5 %. Government to consider new measures if ,,,,,,,,,
Wants 6.7 to 6.9 pop????
Now already have to drink own urine and JB gonna give you some debate to bring another matter to the ICJ for mediation.
Man proposes God dispose
Like animals bred in captivity, Sinkies are a happy, contented lot. Like caged birds, feeling safe and secure in their pigeon holes and looking forward to feeding time.
ReplyDeleteFrom 2003 to 2013, again it continued to decline sharply from about 37,000 to 31,000.
ReplyDeleteThat is a drop of 6,000 newborn or another near 20% from 2003 level.
Going by this trend, what would the number of newborn be in 10 years time in 2023?
Likewise, what would the number of newborn be 10 years from there in 2033?
The population likely as projected would be around 6.67m or 6.9m or thereabout.
The Singaporean born stork is declining but the population is increasing .....
If many already find the current demographic balance "unbearable", how would the generation X, Y and Z take it in 2023, 2033 and beyond?
Anyway, with or without the PGP and the "impending" Medishield Life, likely many PG will still be around in 2023 and even 2033 and beyond?
Aren't we staring at an "unstoppable vicious spiral" in many aspects of life?
How motivated and cohesive would the younger generations be in such a demographically foreigners dominated society?
What would likely be in the mind of the generation X, Y and Z?
By then, they would then "really be of unsound mind to want to bring a new life in such an environment" .......
The clock is ticking ......
There may not be many years left before nothing can stop the "vicious terminal decline" of the original Singaporean stork .....
Then it likely would be like an avalanche and what would this place become ..... ?
Yes!
Truly an "international revolving door hotel" ......
Is that the "vision'?
Hi PSS, my apologies if I appear to be shouting. Pai seh : )
ReplyDeleteAt the moment the mantra of the day is population growth. Is this really the only solution? It is about time that the govt look at a no growth situation and how to bring down the population, with lower cost of living, and improving the quality of life of the people, instead of like a dog chasing its tail.
We have to manage our population, contain its growth, allow the shrinkage to a certain degree and maintain an equilibrium like some mature economies. Our problem is more critical as we don't have the space and luxury to keep on growing our population.
We can only touch the surface of a very big problem and you would need a think tank of specialists to look at this more creatively, like they said, thinking out of the box.
Population growth as a solution is a sure way to lead to a quicker death.
Will high cost of living lead to exodus of FTs?
ReplyDeleteThis is the title of a post in TRE. I think the answer is likely to be No. It would be Yes in the case of Sinkies. The Sinkies would be moving out, esp the PMEs that are underemployed or unemployed. They simple cannot afford to live in the world's most expensive city without an income or with a miserable income.
The FTs will stay as they are replacing the Sinkies in plum jobs and getting plum pay. They can afford to stay in the world's richest city built by daft Sinkies who are getting dafter.
We will all be replaced by foreigners. We can see what is coming. We can do something to prevent it from coming. We have to do it now before it is too late. I mean now.
ReplyDeleteThere is no time to dilly dally. We need not wait like some people, after 40 years to know the serious impact of TFR.
Since the PAPigs have brought in so many FTs, the solution may be for PAPigs to migrate to Chennai, Mumbai or Delhi to create their next paradise on earth. Perhaps that way many of the PAPigs loving FTs will return home and we will have a more livable space with the EIU index dropping a few notches, without any spin about incomes outpacing the rise in cost of living?
ReplyDeleteIf their politicians welcome the PAPigs there, it will be a sure sign of their resolve to weed out corruption and increase their own pay or perhaps our ministers' pay is too much for them to stomach? Where is their dignity?
Saycheese
@ anon 11.44am // There is no time to dilly dally. //
ReplyDeleteIf you are referring to "VTO", unlikely that would bring out any feasible solution to current problems ......
@ anon 11.44am // We will all be replaced by foreigners. We can see what is coming. We can do something to prevent it from coming. We have to do it now before it is too late. I mean now. //
It is unlikely any other government coming into the picture can just turn off the tap like that .....
@ anon 11.44am // We need not wait like some people, after 40 years to know the serious impact of TFR. //
You certainly sound like you would be able to reverse the trend and turn around the TFR to 2.1 and above .....
Essentially, such statements dun receive much credibility from potential swing voters, as far as the feedback from the some of them are concerned ..... So, it is likely to be more of the same if that is the approach ......
If it is going to be " we have the magic plans and road maps to the problems but we dun tell you now ", it is likely doomed to fail. Better sleep at home ..... or find some things meaningful to do .... than waste own and other people's time .....
At this stage, likely many would want some positive trends to develop but not necessarily to rock the boat .....
Perhaps another opposition leader who carries significant weight and can garner a dozen seats or so and be able to offer some counter balance and stand up to the incumbent with alternative views on some policy directions, obviously TFR and population issues would be among them.
Genuine views that can make a difference not unlike those counter or alternative arguments put forth by Dr Tan Cheng Bock during the time when he was an MP. And creditable candidates with substantial intellect and political acumen such as Dr Tan Cheng Bock during his time in charge of Ayer Rajah who can carry the ground and win over the voters .....
This little red dot obviously have many talented and capable individuals who are well trained, intelligent and possess formidable analytical skills and various other essential qualities. With a rallying central figure such as Dr Tan Cheng Bock, some, if not many might step forward to make their contributions and provide the much needed brain power, alternative solutions etc etc for Dr Tan Cheng Bock and his team to raise up in parliament if hypothetically he does give up his retirement years and gather a small but effective team to win a handful of seats to raise pertinent suggestions and potential solutions to the government of the day .....
But of course either Dr Tan Cheng Bock or candidates of such similar calibre/ stature/ passion must be willing to step forward for the future sake of this little red dot and the lives of many Singaporeans especially the younger generations who are likely to bear the brunt of whatever may come in the foreseeable future.
Unfortunately, at his age, it will not be easy for Dr Tan to carry such a heavy burden and thus if there are equally credible younger candidates in their 50s or even early 60s to take the lead, it would be another good option as well.
You think Dr Tan Cheng Bock can raise implementable solutions that the current govt cannot and has not thought of ?
ReplyDeleteMore subsidies for the locals. (it is never enough)
More jobs for the locals
etc etc
Who can't think of that ?
But who is going to think of where the money is going to come from ?
Hi PSS,
ReplyDeleteMany of our problems today, like high cost of liviing, property prices, high medical cost, low TFR etc etc cannot be undone so easily. The only thing that people can hope for is to stop the rot, or stop the bleeding and then work out alternative plans to right the wrongs over a period of time.
As for Tan Cheng Bock or talents of his equivalent, it is a non issue. There are many more talented and able people than him. It is only a matter of getting them to come out of their shells.
In the 60s and 70s, only 3% are graduates and we have enough talents. Today it is something like 30% are graduates and we are losing out to fakes and programmed to think that we don't have talents except the few in parliament.
This is one of the new morals that the Sinkies, already made daft, are made to believe in. And sadly many believe so. What you need are good men and women with the heart in the right place. You don't need nuclear scientists or top lawyers or top surgeons to run a country. They are talented in their fields and they would not find it the right profession for them and a waste of their talent.
And if their hearts are in the wrong place, you will get very bad, sophisticated and clever problems because of their cleverness.
The HEART is in the right place.
ReplyDeleteSounds very noble, very correct.
Tax less, Pay out more.
Where is the money going to come from? From China ?
ReplyDeleteThe value of yr HDB flats and 99-yr leasehold properties will become ZERO at the end of their leases.
Many buyers ended up taking 30-yr loans for their 99-yr properties.
The "feeling-rich" from high property prices will be gone as our "asset-rich" will soon be "reset" to ZERO at the end of 99-yr.
Think about it. How can the price of a DEPRECIATING-in-age property continue to go up and up.
No one dare to talk about this tricky issue now. But the day WILL come. 99-yr is not far away! Keep smiling.......
Cheers
Anon 1:32 is parroting the new moral? Where is the money going to come from. Where is the money coming from to pay the multi million dollar salaries?
ReplyDelete@ anon 1.27pm // You think Dr Tan Cheng Bock can raise implementable solutions that the current govt cannot and has not thought of ? //
ReplyDeleteRb already answered your question in the statement below:
@ Rb 1.27 pm : // What you need are good men and women with the heart in the right place. //
Just like in the "medical practice", there are "many able doctors but to ensure and get reasonable, proper and feasible treatments or even 2nd or 3rd opinions, you need those with the hearts at the right place".
It is "quite worrying if you are attended by a big team of doctors, surgeons and what not with state of the art equipments but not necessarily all with the hearts at the right place".
@ Rb 1.27pm : // It is only a matter of getting them to come out of their shells. //
ReplyDeleteThat's the problem.
The tomorrow never come .....
Meanwhile, the clock is ticking .....
Tick tick tick ......
All kinds of clocks .....
"TFR clock"
"Silver tsunami clock"
"Grey wave clock"
"Entrophy clock"
"Unstoppable brain drain clock"
Dr Tan has been there, done that in terms of "stepping out of the shell".
He is a known, respected figure.
He has tremendous political experience and acumen to win the ground.
He has shown the willingness to voice alternative views when he sensed something is not quite right
Obviously there are others around among the 3.4 million.
But the clock is ticking ......
tick, tick, tick
When is the tomorrow going to come for others to step forward and do what is necessary and in your words:

Redbean,
ReplyDeletedo yourself a flavour , call a spade a spade. Singapore is not just the most expensive city in the world, it is the most expensive country in the world because Singapore is not just a city but a country too. And by having the most expensive city means that the whole country is the most expensive too. Notice that when comparing city of the world, all the city refers to part of a country whereas Singapore itself is a country !
On top of that , it has the most expensive government in the world, the most expensive politicians in the world, and the lowest salary among developed country., and most bullshit government in the world assisted by the most retarded obedient sheep voters in the world.
Redbean,
what do you think ?
The Day of Sin having more aliens than locals will happen soon. Then we can have the honour of a country with the most foreigner population.
ReplyDeleteCan a country with higher alien population than local be qualified as a nation?
Prepare to be a minority in the land you are born in. And university graduates will work as taxi drivers, f&b serving staff, cleaners, call girls, casino staff, social escorts, time based living partners and pimps etc. The future could be worse than that of fisherman and full time housewife.

ReplyDeleteWhat's easy, building and spending on the ppl, trying to boost the birth rate....look at what attempts have been made, giving incentives by the number of child you have, again the trinkets, while they used the billions on infrastruture....of course of their fancy, i really admire red bean as he writes in rain or shine, but the facts are, THEY DON'T LISTEN, if you're too high up, you really can't hear well, locals are run out at every corner and yet they are numb....they're bringing in the ft's to replace us....a simple solution.
I normally do not say it cause the opposition are not ready but, if the daft sinkies do not do something, their children can all go and be hawkers, crane drivers and toilet cleaners, provided the ft's don't get there first.
Those old farts that think the 8 billion could give them a pillow to their ass, should re-think as they got the money because of the kpkb with the likes of Red Bean....they should be giving hiim kopi in the truck loads by asking their children go to his web and into the adverts.
Right bro, kpkb with the likes of RB and the others that they now wants to shorten the period of service in NS.
DeleteShouting of abolishing NS and the useless showing of the SPF made them rethink of getting a more regular corps of servicemen to relieve the burden of our civilian burden in the defence of the red dot.
Have to make an excuse of better training etc to shorten the service of our citizen SAF and Home Team.
New disclipinary board to punish the incompetence of the Home Team personnel. High time to do so as they are having a good time all these years having the same benefits as what we sufferings SAF Reservists had undergone
Also, better to have a few battalions of regular servicemen to tong chui any invasions before our NS SAF also perform like the Home Team in the Little India riots.
DeleteInvasions from armies from outside gives you no second chance of forming a COI at your leisure

ReplyDeleteWhere is the money going to come from?
ReplyDeleteFrom the same place which pays the PAP Ministers their million dollar salaries.
i.e. the bank accounts and cheap labour provided by Singaporeans to feed the PAPig's vast money collection machine.
@ anon 6.21pm " I normally do not say it cause the opposition are not ready but, if the daft sinkies do not do something, their children can all go and be hawkers, crane drivers and toilet cleaners, provided the ft's don't get there first"
ReplyDeleteWay back in 2004, the G already presumably opened up the gate of hell by making the decision to turn to a vice to make a living in this Sin city.
Before that it was a no, no and only over the dead body but nonetheless they still did it in the end.
What is there to prevent the other 2 major vices to be legalised when they get even more desparate to make more to cover whatever shortfall?
Once the oldest profession get legalised, it may not be just toilet cleaners and security guards opened to sinkies. Their mothers, wives, daughters, daughters in laws, mother in laws, nieces, aunties, grand daughters etc etc might make RB's previous warning come true and become modern comfort women. But their torturers are no longer the war time japanese maurauding soldiers but the endless waves of alien workers in the midst eating, sleeping, shitting and also bedding the women in this land.
Thank you PG for helping to turn this Sin city into a land of vices eventually. You certainly deserve more than the PGP. In the future, YOU should also partake a share of the taxes and revenues gained when our fellow folks become the modern comfort women to the hordes of blanga, tiongs, etc etc.
This Sin city certainly has a bright future. It will ROCK! Bring them on. Open the legs wider. Sin city needs more, more penetration of foreign influx. Otherwise future comfort women might not have enough revenues to help shore up the coffers and continue make this Merlion Sin city roar with more vomit out its mouth! Super talents! World lumber 1. Super salaries from Super revenues from Super vices centric economic policies.
Lets all clap for the super brains of super talents. Turning to vices to maintain wealth in this Sin city. What do you call those surviving on the earnings of vices?

"Global research criteria, of course, do not always find universal acceptance among govts,
particularly if the news is bad.
But what is not in contention is that
global Singapore has been steadily climbing to the top of the totem pole of high costs.
Ten years ago,
we were in 18th place.
In 2009 alone,
Singapore jumped five places from 15th to 10th position,
overtaking Hong Kong, its traditional rival.
This year,
we overtook leader Japan and several other expensive Western cities.
For someone born here 74 years ago,
my journey from wooden shacks to international high-cost notoriety should have been one of pride.
Few countries have been able to accomplish it.
Yet this near-miracle is marred by the fact
that income has lagged far behind costs
and inequality has soared.
Runaway inflation, both imported and domestic, has been a cruel master cracking its whip."

Weaknesses are aplenty for many to see.
Always kena some major blowup then try to rectify.
This is what super talents do. Always behind the curve. Chasing after problems. React rather than calculate ahead and prevent the problem.
So you think all these new measures proactive or reactive. This type of kpi also can self anoint super talent stature and claim salaries and bonuses by the truck load.
Monopolist historically and worldwide is known to be inefficient, exploitative and charges disproportionately high prices for their services.
With almost nothing to backstop sinkieland, "an economic little India type of mistake" might not offer a 2nd chance to recover so easily .....
If the PG thinks this is the way to go, why not go all the way and give them record support this time round of more than the previous record of 84% set in 1980.
Otherwise, spare some thoughts for the future generations after you who still have a long way to go in this red dot and think hard whether a monopoly is the best option to safeguard the future .....
