Medisave tweaks, to save pockets?

So many reports on how the Medisave is being tweaked and becoming more flexible to allow the people to use to pay for more medical services, including drugs. These must be music to the ears of the people who are short of cash.

One thing has been silent through out the reports and all these months when the cost of medical services were reported. It was all about how to pay, and even the buffet spread of Medishield Life is also about how to pay. Though the equation has two parts, the Govt seems to be only interested in how to get the people to pay and nothing much really was said on how to bring down medical cost.

Not a word, yes, not a word in this as if it is something that nothing can be done to it. Why? You think and tell me.

  1. I believe they did indicate something about medical cost - it will UP. Just that most unpalatable news don't get repeated over the media or in bold print. Only "goodies" are justified to be repeated. And repeated. And repeated.

Hope kopi level going up ....

Already "ordered and drank" several cups .....

    Cheers :)

  4. How to pay? Not able to pay?

So how to vote for PAP?
    But 60% still voted.

Hence question of how to pay or why pay becomes irrelevant, tio bo?

    So Sinkies must pay lah.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Sooner or later, the people end up paying. There's never going to be a "single player system" aka "free lunch for all" in Singapore.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Thanks PSS and all, the kopi level rising but it would take a while to fill up to green : )

  7. Now that Medisave use is expanded and Medishield Life is compulsory, Sinkies be prepared to pay more for all medical expenditures. These will include consultation, medication, surgery, birth delivery and hospitalisation.

Me thinks it is not difficult to see what's coming. Confirm akan datang.

  9. Despite medical costs going up,

    HDB pigeonhole price going up,

bus and MRT fares going up,

Sinkie PMETs become jobless, while jobs and scholarships go to foreign talents,

    Sinkies money no enough,

male SInkies need to do NS, while foreign talents no need,

will the opposition be ready to become govt?

Will majority (aka 60%) still vote PAP?

    U tell me lah.

    ReplyDelete
  10. As there is a 93% chance the opposition will not be ready to be govt by 2016, PAP will still win the GE and become govt again lah, thanks to the 60%.

If it could happen in 2011, when things for Sinkies were just as bad or even worse than now, why not in 2016, u tell me lah?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Just before nomination day for next GE, I think a leader of a Sinkie opposition party will announce they will contest 100% seats and ready to be govt.

Because even if ready now, cannot announce so early mah. Or else sure kena "marked and fixed", tio bo?

Rb, you could have brought up a very pertinent topic which could have been the crux of the entire spectrum of problems faced in the society and for that you deserve a LOT of KOPI. So readers, pls get RB "drunk" with super kopi today .....

Back to the issue brought up about the need to "supplement current good but insufficient stock with new but good stock yet not leaving some of the original coolie stock too far behind and to do it such that the society does NOT get the outcome experienced in other social engineering experiments in recent hstory" .........

    So?

The question may not be about the need to do it but how?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Perhaps, the short and simple but empirical explanation below could help some to see the need:

If hypothetically Singapore need to be in the world cup final round league to survive economically, who or what kind of talents and people can she bring with her in sufficient numbers quantitatively and qualitatively to stand a chance?

Going by many empirical examples, there are many capable, talented and able Singaporeans. But just like football, it is a team effort and not just one or two star strikers ...... Thus, how to be sustainable and viable in the long term bringing the entire team together to compete. A big percentage of the population may not be at any level to stand much chance internationally.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Ideally, some wish we are a huge giant like China with many inland areas likely not exposed to international competition and an overseas Chinese is often even a rare sight in such inland areas, much less an Ang Moh. But Singapore does not have such vast mass. It is likely not an overstatement that practically every citizen, strong or weak, is exposed to international competition in this small island given that Singapore is the most open economy with annual total trade at about 1.3 trillion or 400% of its GDP of about 300 billion.

    So?

The question is therefore not about the need but how to do it such that “this little ship” can continue sailing in the vast ocean for many generations to come.

    So?

    ReplyDelete
  16. It may not be enough for the brightest in this land to see the matter in clear light. They just have to get the masses on board.

    So?

    ReplyDelete
  17. It therefore is a question of change and how to bring it about that the majority of the people or rather the masses could accept and go along with it.

    So?

    ReplyDelete
  18. It may well be about COMMUNICATION.

    So?

    ReplyDelete
  19. The pertinent question is how to bring about change in such a difficult area.

    So?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Professional Kurt Lewin's Force Field Analysis Change Model is probably worth some consideration.

The trust of the people is likely paramount and quinessential to carry the ground in such a monumental change.

    So?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Likewise, Professional Kurt Lewin's 3 stage change model of Unfreezing, Changing and Refreezing can be considered in such a process.

    So?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Professor John Kotter's 8-Step Change Model may also be great material for consideration in bringing about this monumental social change.

    So?

    ReplyDelete
  23. It is probably essential for the brightest in society to recognise that it is likely not enough for them to recognise the issue but unable to communicate to the people at large subtly and cogently. Historically, the probability of astronomic and monumental failure is very high if whoever try to bring about such change does not have the people behind them.

    So?

    ReplyDelete
  24. In order to have a good chance of succeeding in such a difficult but necessary change, COMMUNICATION thus cannot be overemphaised.

    So?

    ReplyDelete
  25. So? Get the people in charge and highly paid to DO IT lah!

    So? So your “屁股”!

Can't you ( not Rb) see the current way of doing things is not really working and aren't you ( not Rb ) paid millions to get things done?

    So?

    OMG! Still So? WT-----!

Who knows such an informal chit chat focus group may be able to throw up some viable ideas for the good of the nation?

Of course, this is just a off the cuff suggestion.

There are many ways to skin a cat and also to choose to skin or not.

But inaction may be the worst option or wisest choice depending on whose perspective.

Having a small monthly or even yearly discussion group session may be a token way to show concern as citizens for the long term well being of the nation.

    Just a suggestion .....
