Many questions and answers in Parliament

Many questions were tabled in Parliament and the ministers were busy answering them. Somehow I find the drift not going the right direction. What are all the questions about, and what are the parliamentarians there in the first place?

Parliament has degenerated to a state of talking cock to score points for whichever party. Questions and answers were there to do just that while the interest of the people was secondary, do not really matters. At least that is my impression.

When would Parliament and parliamentarians be there to speak for the interests of the people with politics taking a break? The politickings should be set aside after the GE and all should work together or separately but putting the well beings of the people ahead of everything else. It is time to work for the people.

Roll up your sleeves and get down to work, and forget about party or whether you like that bugger or dislike his or her face. Can we have a bit of sincerity, to deal with issues as elected leaders of the people and working for the people? Do not brush aside the concerns of the people by clever or slippery answers or excuses.

Put the people first and everything will fall into place. When this is not the case, everything will be screw up as the intent is wrong, misplaced and nothing will be right. There are still a couple of years before the next GE and there is time to do things and work for the people. The results will speak for themselves.

The people are watching and the social media can be harsh to those that are just wayanging and not working for the people. The people are not daft for sure. Whether a politician is sincere and genuine will easily be recognized and be put in their place in the next GE. There is no where to run and no where to hide, and no where to talk rubbish or act silly. Those days of going with the flow and hanging on to the gravy train are over.

First base, got problems or no problem? If got problems, what are the problems and what must be done to remove the problems? Or maybe there is no problem so can continue to talk cock and sing song and be merry and enjoy the good office and the good pay and the good blessing of abundance.

Talking cock or not, what difference is there when PAP has 93% seats in Parliament?

What really matters is when the opposition is ready to be govt and also wins majority seats, and even if talking cock still continues in Parliament.

  2. But what happens if the opposition is not ready to be govt but yet can win majority seats, then how?

    Is it still OK?

  5. Is it OK Low Thia Khiang, Chee Soon Juan or even PAP MPs are ministers in the same govt, that is a coalition govt?

Or will it ever happen or not?

    Or is this too hypothetical?

And Low Thia Khiang who even praised PAP publicly stated he doesn't like hypothetical questions or scenarios.

  6. RB, I like yr article.

I am not against our parliamentarians.

I agree that our parliamentarians should speak for the interests of the people with politics taking a break after the GE.

If our parliamentarians can put people first, everything will fall into place. The changes and benefits at the ground level will speak for themselves.

It is useless to have plenty of nice talks at the top only.

The ground NOW is really not sweet.

In Singapore, nothing come cheap. You ask around. Many people are struggling, many of them are finding it increasingly difficult to cope with the high costs of living, many are crying, many are left behind and worst, many have given up hope.

Do something for the people before it is too LATE !

When these clowns start talking, I start switching channels.

Better and more entertaining and educational and productive to watch some cartoons then listening to all that gibberish hogwash.

In the end, they all just want to score brownie points. No substance at all.

When the pugnacious JBJ lion was there and the hatchet man was still strong enough to make threats, there were really fire in the belly no holds barred debates. Then, it was a gladiator's ring. Now, it's a three ring circus. Ha Ha.

By the way, why are there always some empty seats. Didn't we pay them 15K a month at least to warm the seats and make a wayang presence?

    60% of them are daft.
    They put PAP first.
So PAP like monkey see, monkey do.
    PAP also put PAP first.

Well done, you have hit a home run with your views, the all talk has or have ran into parliament the arrogance and their laid back attitude is extremely frustrating but it did exercise why a single party should not be in power, governing or opposition.

The explosion only can be seen during election on or before, the parades of words, the assurance, the faces of certainty, the raise of voice and then back to the bull of shit, talking.

In the lead of examples, the 30 ought thousand special needs children (so reported),hoping that there are at least some reflection to their way, loosing time, loosing age, in Taiwan, a single parent caring for a her child died, the child covered her with a blanket thinking that she was cold, she taught that her mother was sleeping and did not want to wake her for 3 days..........are we going to wait and keep on talking till the day we die.
It surprises me that this tiny island has so many red tape, so many bureaucracy, so many idealist but no realist........

Fuck, from the swamps to high rise technology, we are still swimming in the shit after all, all fucking fakes, after a million dollar salary......

What you complaining about, champion complainer?

That's the way it is supposed to be!

Anyway most of the issues are non-issues...just a lot of unimportant complaints by the incessantly complaining Singaporeans.

Govt in Singapore is TOO BIG for such a tiny island. If the state sold off parliament house to say, Far East Group (the best property managers in Singapore), cut the size of govt to fill one or two floors of a standard, modern office building, I guarantee the complaints will decrease.

When the Brits were handing over, the Legislative Assembly had only a few seats. People back then didn't complain about and to the govt anywhere near the what today's internet and mobile savvy citizens do. The government back then was small and they controlled very few things. Now the govt is too big such that they control everything.

Of course, the fact that they do is a fact well deserved by the voting assholes. :-)

You vote for politicians to get into office, to form a government to regulate and tax you. So they regulate and tax you, but do so in ways such that you'll vote for them again, so that they can continue to regulate and tax you.

Therefore, you might as well complain to yourself. Go ahead, everyone start talking to themselves, since ultimately it is ==> YOUR FAULT <== that there is a mess in the first place.

  17. Thank you Matilah, for your kind words.

In our mad rush for GDP and more money, we have lost track of what is living and why we are doing so, working and working and working. Aung San Suu Kyi had a point there.

What kind of children are we bringing up with both parents out working day and night and they are thrown to an alien to look after? Is there how our children should be brought up, how our wonderful multi million dollar homes should be?

    Where are we going?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Haha RB, and they encourage the Sinkies to go work overseas. Leave home, leave children and leave country behind.

What the shit is a country for, what the shit is a home for, what the shit is a family and children for?

  19. Hey Mati:

You are the one talking crab and should keep these loads of bs to yourself by talking to yourself and don't litter this blog with cow dungs and shit load of rubbish. Sg already run out of space to build incinerator. Don't even think of bringing your rubbish and bs to the incinerator. They will only spoil the machine there and choke it up. Your rubbish and bs overwhelmingly too toxic and non-biodegradable liao.

    >> What kind of children are we bringing up with both parents out working day and night and they are thrown to an alien to look after?

No problem there lah. Children are more resilient than most of us give them credit for. Anyway everyone has mobiles now -- parents can talk to their kids anytime, even if they are in different cuntrees.

Sure, I am aware of the phenomenon of "latch key kids", but a lot of it is scare mongering. Kids are different...some require more parental/ adult attention and supervision, others can be quite safely left alone to do their thing -- especially if the kid is into reading, creative arts, computing, gaming or music, or hanging out with their friends. Too much parenting can cramp a kid's style :-)

Culturally, Singapore is very conservative and family-centered. Sure there are incidents of disfunction and waywardness, but that is not the general case. The general case is that the majority of families in Singapore are healthy and happy.

    >> Where are we going?

Relac lah. Everything will turn out just fine.

Remember, people are EMIGRATING to Singapore to start families, and bring up existing ones. Why? Singapore is one of THE BEST PLACES for a kid to grow up, and get a solid EDUCATION.

The alternative (for immigrant kids) is growing up in some shitty, superstition-based Turd Whirled Cuntree, or worse still ending up in some western demo-crazy public school (USA, UK etc) full of drugs, gangs, crime and a fucked-up education.

You guys panic for nothing. You don't even know what a good thing is when it is staring you in the face ;-)

  23. The impact and consequences of having kids brought up by aliens will only be felt in the longer term. In the short term, only a small group of children will become a problem.

This is like education and population, you would not see much in the short term. It is down the road, whatever that will happen and the changes.

  27. Parliament is like a portfolio. Voting is like investing. One does not put all the eggs in one basket. 2-3 parties parliament is better than a one party controlling the parliament for the interests of the people . Will voters understand that? We will only know during GE2016.

  28. The key is to always vote for the underdog. When the underdog becomes a topdog, looks for another underdog before the topdog grows enough teeth and bite you back. In this way, we will always have an amateur topdog who can only bark but has no teeth. Just remember, no politicians whether white or red or black can be trusted.

Che ba, steady lah uncle panic. Redbean seems to be another one of those special Singaporeans with "magical psychic powers", and is thus able to foretell the future with such conviction and certitude, but really poor when it comes to furnish any evidence to support his "foresight".

On the entry to this blog he claims to be a "roadside story teller", and folks buy him kopi everyday.

However he is well qualified to also state that he is a "roadside FORTUNE teller". Pay him a visit before you go to the 4-D shop ;-)

  31. Matilah, 4D number for you. 6969. Think you will love it : )

    ReplyDelete
  32. redbean,

The prevalence of "number fetish" (an implication that certain numbers are "lucky/ unlucky" or have "magical powers") is common amongst the Asiatic cultures, which are still, for the most part immersed in silly superstitions, which plays a large part in keeping Asians down in the realms of stupidity.

You might think 6969 is humouroulsy risque, but in actual fact you are just propagating a cultural artifact which should have been thrown out with opium smoking as things which are inimical to human well-being.

The only numbers which matter in 4D are the numbers which win you the prize, which will enable you to leave your job/business, and instead spend all your time actually realizing many REAL WORLD experiences of "sixty nine" -- vernacular for the act of the mutual oral stimulation of the human genitals by couples.
