I caught a couple of minutes of Tuesday’s Talking Point programme in
CNA. I couldn’t remember what was the exact title of the discussion but
it was all about public transport and how to improve it. The local
counterpart Sinkie expert was a professori. And when probed, he gave the
standard govt reply of all the shortcomings and excuses that we have
heard for the last century. Oops, I am exaggerating.
One particular hilarious moment was the question of whether it would be
better to nationalize the public transport system and then came the
parroted answers, it would become inefficient, the operators would skive
and lack the motivation to improve the quality of the service, service
quality would fall. Basically it would just rot. They forgot to say that
the operators or management would become marbok or would be waiting for
bribes or else would not work. In short, once it became a public
service run by civil servants they would all forget about working, about
responsibility, about excellence, and spent their time drinking kopi.
And nothing could be done to them. No one will be watching over them to
kick their asses.
The Hongkie expert roared into hilarious laughter on hearing these. He
was shock into disbelief that such stupid arguments could be uttered in
public by supposedly respectable people and professionals, including
very top people. I squirmed too.
How silly can Sinkies be to believe in such craps? The instant and
spontaneous reaction of the Hongkie expert only showed how stupid
Sinkies are to allow this nonsense to be repeated over and over again
and for stupid people to say it again and again without knowing how
stupid they sounded. Didn’t they know they looked silly saying it?
So? Never mind. It is group think like they said.
I watched that programme, red bean pau. When that bugger was giving those stupid excuses, my embarrassment went up and up. When the hongkie laughed, i was so malu, don't know where to hide my face.
ReplyDeleteDidn’t they know they looked silly saying it?
ReplyDeleteRB
I think they know lah. But still say it because as Sinkies, this is the right thing to say.
And people who know Sinkies will understand one so they may not laugh lah, unlike the Hongkie.
You can know that they are Sinkies from what they said, and that includes Sinkie opposition.
For instance, only Sinkie opposition will say they are not ready to be govt and also praise the ruling party as a competent govt.
Look silly saying it doesn't mean saying the wrong thing.
ReplyDeleteMost important is must say the right thing, silly it may be.
Besides saying the right thing, Sinkie minister also tell Sinkies to read the right thing.
I watch the program, too.I noticed the tension as evidenced in their body language between the two speakers. It is quite obvious that the one from private sector did not hold the professor in high regard and often snorted at the professor's views.
ReplyDeleteI can quite understand the Professor's behaviour. I do not think he wanted to appear on the TV talk show. Most likely arrowed to do it and have to submit his views for the topics raised to his HOD for vetting and approval.

I always feel very uncomfortable when comments like: 60% voted for ruling party; oppositions not ready and many others negative comments on oppositions. I think these type of comments does not help the true blue Singaporeans at all.
ReplyDeleteHelping Singaporeans to see the truth wrong policies had done to the life of Singaporeans is more urgent. It is only my opinion.
I also watched the programme. The professor looked out of his depth with such minor matters. Didn't look right.
ReplyDeletePAP think the world is so stupid not to recognize that what we have here is fake competitors. Look at all major competitors, whether in transport or any money-making business. Tell us if the temasek holding and govt has no part in that. The transport is pretty monopolize by the govt themselves, using govt-backed companies under disguise as private operators as main competitors , and yet they tell us that provide competitiveness and free market ? Those fools keep parroting PAP nonsense, trying to fool people with wayang competitions and controlled "free" market.
ReplyDeleteWho are they fooling ? Or maybe they trying to fool Redbean .
So?
ReplyDeleteAs the grandmaster say, only need one sentence answer. No need so many paragraphs!
The ONE SENTENCE IS: The GRC that minister helmed for this sickening sector, many wayang policies that up to this minute that still "crack" as can be seen in one of above comments about one of the news reported yesterday on line, is likely to be one of the lowest hanging fruits, if not the lowest, to be plucked in the next GE and as good as an open goal, thus whichever party still cannot score should balik kampung because public transport mrt tracks crack frequently, trains breakdown as often as it rains and shines etc and COE prices almost back to Jan high this year despite some big policies changes including sudden 50% down payment, seems like public tpt also screwed up, coe pte tpt even worst, like that isnt it perfect storm, golden opportunity on a platter and likely as long as dont kanna disqualify during nomination day and avoid stir up shit in rally run up to voting day, most probably bao jiak de!
How?
One paragraph long SUPER sentence. Good?
So?
"I also watched the programme. The professor looked out of his depth with such minor matters. Didn't look right."
ReplyDeleteWhen you find such educated clown approved to talk by the govt, start preaching gospel without mentioning that the major competitors are financed by the govt themselves and setup to fake competition and free market, you know for sure that they are bullshitting their way. How can there ever be true competition when ultimately everything tie back to the same old fart and family business ?
redbean,
do you agree ?
The term is called "politically correct", not so much as right or true.
ReplyDeleteSay the "politically correct" thing.
Or even do the "politically correct" thing.
For instance it is not "politically correct" to tell your boss he is stupid, even if it correctly describes your boss.
Malu ourselves. So?
ReplyDeleteTalking only right things that maybe factually incorrect. So?
Deluding ourselves in many things when they are otherwise. So?
Talking pt of talking pt ......
ReplyDeleteSo malu to watch such programme!
So?
Ha ha ha
ReplyDeleteTalking Point programme becomes the Talking Point ......
How silly and ironical!
So?
ReplyDeleteLet me welcome all the new nicks, if they are one or different bloggers. Cheers.
ReplyDeleteIn the first place, it shouldn't have been privatized in the first place. The COE, road tax & ERP collections are more than enough to actually allow for all public transport travel to be free....
ReplyDeleteThe SHIT heads were just too scare to do that because they are afraid everybody will turn to free public transport than to pay COE, road tax & ERP, which actually will improve the overall environment...
Thus the whole system is designed to make everyone be a slave to the system... wake up guys... we don't need to be in these shit, it is like "the Matrix"... we need to do a "Matrix revolution" or "Matrix Reload" or what shit in 2016 to improve the livelihood for our fellow citizens.
Has the LKY-PAP political ideology has outlived its usefulness to Singaporeans?
ReplyDeleteMaybe the LKY-PAP political ideology no longer benefits Singaporeans?
So what?
So maybe it's time to vote Opposition to change the political ideology?
Can you have the same old people in power and expect anything new?
Can the leopard change its spots?
Can George Yeo change PAP from within?
Is George Yeo still a card carrying member of PAP?
Is George Yeo still trying to change PAP from within .... from Hong Kong ... via video conferencing ... while still holding down a full time job?
Whither George Yeo?
Whither PAP?
Should we even give a fuck?
There are goods and services that best run by government such as
ReplyDelete1) natural resource
2) natural monopoly (utilities, transport)
3) defense
4) healthcare
Best run by private entreprise are all the rest especially
1) Engineering
Education is somewhere in the middle.
Today, our government privatise all the natural monopoly like our power station, our transport and healthcare. Meanwhile, we keep engineering activities in DSTA, DSO, ST and NCS.
Don know WTF they are doing. This government is against the well being of people.
Can George Yeo change PAP from within?

Whither PAP?
George Yeo is a piece of shit. He cannot stop screwing Singaporeans.
We got a 'So?' virus in here. Must have got it from one Ah Soh.
ReplyDeleteDoes PAP have the core competency to act in the best interest of Singaporeans?
ReplyDelete@ 11:21am ///We got a 'So?' virus in here. Must have got it from one Ah Soh.///
ReplyDeleteYes. The "So?" Virus probably come from one "ah soh" looking so call elite whose Chinese "so good" at 36 still need to brush up "so much" to follow our grand sifu go Middle Country in the late 90s. Big goldfish eyes, ah "soh" type of mouth, ah "soh" type of height ..... actually many ah "sohs" probably taller than him. They say "this ah soh looking elite" potential future leeder. Means if it really happens we should be glad that we get one "ah soh looking leeder" next time on stage giving us a 3 hours "ndr" sermon on stage and everybody have to sit through for about 3 hours for one"ah soh" talking on stage. Sounds good? Agree pls kee chiu! Who dont agree but think the other goldfish eye kee chiu potential leeder should be the future leeder pls kee chiu! If u kee chiu for kee chiu, pls dont complain next time if during future ndr, kee chiu keep asking u to kee chou during his 3 hours sermon. Must think ahead de. Tio bo? Tio, pls kee chiu!
Y many oldies so quiet last few days. Some must have made big bucks with their sia shares bought at $9 two weeks back ...... hee hee hee. Too happy in their pockets to cry father cry mother with the gahmin. Rb, what say u?
ReplyDeleteUncle virgo49 aim quite accurate. Q 2 weeks ago at 9.50 lowest only 9.4+ so not so far off almost perfect. One other guy say q at 8.50 must be kanna hoodwink by all the serpents and blood sucking leeches in the financial mkt lah. Where can sia go so low short term especially uncle sam got big hole to fill each mth. Qe tapering. No qe99 happy liao lo ...... Tio bo? Uncle Chua, our in house financial mkt lao chiau
ReplyDeleteHow did One become a professor without mind?
ReplyDeleteOh, I mean having a mind of own and not be dictated by Rulers as in group think. Or could it be that his professorship was awarded because of his group think?
Sometime good at playing ball games can liao. Like good in handballs and mothballs. Good with the hand and mouth can liao. Many with minds SUPER good also kanna jialat jialat. So perhaps sometime profess to be gd with hands and mouths better than profess with good mines. Kanna one big bomb then jialatjialat liao. God of merciful only believe in believers. Non-believers would incur the wrath of godless of mercy. So minds or mines or mouths or hands u choose. Different gods would appear in your sleep depending on choice. Some get sweet dreams. Some get bitter nightmares. No prize for guessing God of Merciful appears in whose sleep ......
ReplyDeleteOne associate professor always on medias to talk about public transport system seems to be fr PRC.
ReplyDeleteWhy are public transport specialist fr Hong Kong, Taiwan or cities such as Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok and Mumbai etc not preferred?
The sheepie sinkies believe everything the MSM told them. They have been transformed into beings that are unable to think independently, alternatively. I always think cars are a necessity (especially for families) just like housing, education, jobs, healthcare. However, the people here believe the crap the media told them and allowed the gov to screw them upside, downside, allside just for wanting to own a car. Just look at the ministers, how many do not own one car? Not necessary? It is all a scam.
ReplyDeleteMalasysians do not need to pay high coe, high arf, high car duty, high gst, high road tax, high insurance but can drive their cars around here by just paying a one time fee. Where is the logic? Shit the transport minister.
ReplyDelete@ September 19, 2013 3:50 pm
ReplyDelete"Malasysians do not need to pay high coe, high arf, high car duty, high gst, high road tax, high insurance but can drive their cars around here by just paying a one time fee."
True. That's becos Malaysian gahmen are useless.
Don't have the competency to screw their own citizens.
Not like our PAP gahmen.
Screwing Sinkies seem to be the only competency they can do very well.
What else is the PAP gahmen good for?
You tell me lah!

Just cannot understand why the sheepie voters keep voting for bastards who owned and drive around at least one big nice car but keep telling the voters that they can do away with owning a car, public transport is good enough for them etc. Why the sheepie cannot tell that it is a big fat bshit? Are they too deeply brainwashed, manipulated, stupid, insane?
ReplyDeleteLook at the causeway everyday and on eve of public holidays or weekend and you will know why a car is so impt. No car rental agency could cope with the demands for cars to drive up Malaysia.
ReplyDeleteAnd what kind of life and quality of life if Sinkies don't own cars and the Malaysians happily driving around in their cars?
Any idiot wish to say car not necessary?
All professors are some sort of protected species, they live in a protected environment with a protected pay cheque. How can they understand the harsh realities of life?
ReplyDeleteAnyone who says car is not a necessity better set a good example not to own one else he is just another liar.
That's where you're wrong
ReplyDeleteIt's in fact because the professor knew how dangerous his position was that he spoke that way.
No one wants to lose everything.
Look at how professors can be hounded in sinkieland for doing the wrong things
