Fake qualifications not a problem

The problem of fake qualifications has been over blown, out of proportion, an issue like making mountain out of mole hill. What did I say so?

We have near to a million foreigners with professional qualifications working here. And from the records so far, only a handful have been caught and charged for falsifying their qualifications or using fake qualifications to get employments here. I think not more than a hundred. In percentage terms this is so small that it is a non issue, not worth the effort to flush them out.

The Sinkies should drop this issue and move on. Fake qualifications and certificates are not a problem worth exploring. Tio boh? If there are really so many fake degrees floating around, many would have been exposed or caught by now. The fact that nothing really happened means that all is well.

What do you think?

  1. Right, maybe the government dare not tell how many or they don't bother to check..and just catch a few flies..and all is well.

Then you will suggest, it is a small percentage and all is well, we can ignore this...Right...What do you think..Are they transparent and honest about this..

  2. You cannot expect 100% Sinkies to vote for PAP.

Similarly, you cannot expect 100% foreign talents to have no fake qualifications.

  3. For some jobs such as DOCTORS must be 100% checked!

  4. I was wondering how the authorities check, or whether they even check at all, the qualifications of the so many foreign talents approved by them to come here.

Maybe the onus to check lies with the employer.

So we should trust that the employers are competent enough to check lah. And should be lah, or else how can they become employers if they are not competent, tio bo?

  5. Can't disagree with you, I support and second your motion and move on.

If Sinkies suffering, they should learn to live with it. For over fifties years they faithfully and happily voted for the regime. Who can you blame, you, me or themselves?

  8. So long as 50.1% people still vote for the same regime, the 49.9% people can only kpkb and wait to be screwed.

  10. Given a chance I will choose to be a fake loctor.I have reason to believe some of the 'Loctors' have fake too.
One mei mei told me she once went to a hospital in the East to draw some blood for testing, she was poke few holes on her hand. She told me the 'Loctor' dun appear cool and manage to draw some blood after few attempts after poking here and there showing me the many bruises and marks.

How good if I can be born elsewhere and oso get myself a fake cert and become a Loctor.I oso can poke and inspect here and there.

But dun sue me .I say Loctor never say Doctor hor.

  14. Maybe foreigners with fake qualifications is one problem.
Maybe Ministers with fake talents is a more serious problem.
Maybe Prime Ministers with no talents is an even bigger problem.
Maybe Sovereign fund managers with a losing track record is still yet another big problem.

Why Singapore suddenly got so many problems?
    Maybe problem was always there?
But now got internet so we can vote wisely with our eyes open big, big?

  15. I agree -- it is not a problem. In fact, one should EXPECT it to occur.

Cheating is a natural phenomena of human behaviour. In every sphere of activity where there is competition or certain "barriers", you are going to get instances of some people cheating to "get ahead of the rest".

Documents are quite easily forged -- which is why you get fake ID, fake passports, fake certificates of safety and compliance, fake licences, and of course fake qualifications.

  16. People cheating with qualifications might be one issue. However there is the perennial issue -- due to "education inflation", where cash-strapped institutions invent "qualifications" for everything they can think of -- of USELESS/ OVER RATED/ LOW RETURN ON INVESTMENT qualifications:

For me if your 3-4 year college course doesn't contain math and science, you're wasting money and time.

  17. Fake or real shall not just be defined by a piece of paper.
It got to be established by the competency to accomplish the task.
Those paper qualified but unable to fulfill the duty should be removed asap.
