The lamb has been silenced. All is peaceful under heaven. 天下太平. Three
little girls were silenced, penalized by their school for participating
in a fund raising event to help cancer stricken patients and helping to
make a statement that it was alright to be bald, after chemotherapy
treatment. Their brave and gracious act was seen as of lesser importance
to a promise to wear wigs should they shorn off their locks and look
bald. This is not acceptable as it could mean something else, a fad or a
rebellious act.
The parents were furious, the public were furious. The girls were
silent. The MOE has yet to make a statement on this. Would the Cancer
Society that organized this event make a statement in defend of the
girls? Or would this matter be stone walled, silence is better than
saying the wrong thing? The three brave girls are facing the music in
silence. Instead of being good role models, they are now seen as bad,
disobedient and doing the wrong thing.
Some may think that this topic, Silencing of the lamb, is related to
Leslie Chew. No, actually the silencing of the lamb is not even about
the silencing of the girls. It is just coincidental that the case of the
girls being silenced happened over the last couple of days.
There is a bigger silencing event going on nationwide. Ever been in the
train or buses and notice the silence except when some loud mouth
foreigners are around and screaming away? Our young are being silenced
in a different way, by technology. Practically every one of them will be
banging away on their mobile or ipad or whatever pad, oblivious of
everything around them. They are busy, very busy, either messaging or
playing worthless games of colour balls running down the screens. This
is a generation of drones and droids who are glued to their little
gadgets and do not care a thing about what is happening. You can sell
them away standing or sitting in the trains or buses without them
knowing.
Don’t the young have better things to do than to play with their mobile
and ipads? Do they think about what is going to happen to them in the
near future, their lives and their country? These are the lambs that
live in a silent and meaningless world of their own, without a care.
Poor things. Now they might develop a phobia for shaving. Which means they probably won't be shaving their pussies either. Not so good news for their future boyfriends (or girlfriends -- whatever the case might be).
ReplyDelete:-)
RB, no lar they are happy now and happy in the future and that is why they focus playing the phones or iPad etc. is there a thing to worry about the future when we have the best government? I think you are just being paranoid lor and kpkb Tio Bo?
ReplyDeleteMe I also happy, jobless for so many years and knowing that no longer need to compete and play office politics and live a happy life doing nothing except surfing Internet and writing comments as got nothing better to do mah. So u tell me lar happy or not.

The youngsters, boys and girls are not to be blamed. Their negligent parents, grandparents and the Elders in the Society are the Culprits that condition them(youths) to behave as described.
ReplyDeleteGrowing up in Sin is quite a punishmentfor the youngs.
Sigh!

What the principal does could be understanding.
ReplyDeleteIs that school Saint Ma....school?I cannot remember.
Possibly the principal is too pious or religious and it is not so acceptable for certain people to see Oneekoo in the school. Oneekoo remind her that they are nun.How can a ST.M..school has nun.
Parent to be blame for sending their children to the wrong school and children to be blame for choosing the school blindly.
Choose a school without a St. name.Think problem can be avoided.
Matilah must have cut, shaved, waxed and licked itself.
ReplyDeleteThe elephant in the room has been overlooked by one and all. It's all about control. That's all, pure and simple, just like all the others, no long hair, stop at two, no chewing gum...the list goes on and on and on.
ReplyDeleteIs Chew also a lamb?

ReplyDeleteNot so good news for bf or gf?
Dun bluff lah.
Getting involve with those who shave their private hair or without hair is considered a misfortune by certain races.Tha is how 40 over got charge, shamed and some lost their job lately.
Dun teach the wrong thing.
Shave only for a good cause like the 3 school girls.
Other location cannot anyhow shave.
Clash between China and Japan is looming meanwhile school girls in Singapura was forced to put on a wig because it's against the MOE rule even it is for humanitarian cause.
ReplyDeleteUnder this kind of circumstances , the intense pressure from the so called ‘authority’ from the school giving the girls no choice but to give in to their demands to put on a wig.
The promise was made under compulsion by the implicit threat of punishments.
Also the benefits of the charitable cause far weight that of breaking the promise made such compulsion and threat of punishment.
Anyone of some authority coming out to defend the three poor girls? No one bothers?
ReplyDeletePAP methods are outdated. The more they want people to play by their rules, the more the people will get angry with them. We are no longer an under educated nation.
ReplyDeleteSome oppostion MPs should make some remarks to score some points. Where are they?
ReplyDeleteI am glad to read this posted in Heng Swee Kiat's facebook.
ReplyDelete“Mrs Tan, on her part, has also reflected on her decision, and understood that the girls wanted to show empathy and solidarity with cancer patients which entail the experience of going bald.”
“With this in mind, she has supported all 5 in their wish not to conceal their shaved heads. I am glad that the Principal, teachers and students of St Margaret’s Secondary School have resolved this and will move on from here.”
Mr Heng also added that he fully supports the “Hair for Hope” campaign.
It is also good that the principal realised her mistake and owned up. Now she should follow up by saying a few good words for the girls as role models of compassion, kindness and empathy for others.
Speech is silver, silence is gold. Leslie chew 'sorry' can save plenty of poor tax payers monies from AG abusive spending is a good move.

That's why I think that "race" is a very lousy idea, and an illusion. We are all the same -- biologically. We're "different" only because we think we're different.
>> Dun teach the wrong thing.
Me? Teach? You have to be joking. I merely reflect what is on the internet:
Gals, express yourself! My favourite is the "landing strip".
In Holland V alone there are several women's "spas" where they do Brazilian waxes as well, and now the "in thing" for women is Vajazzling -- i.e. the application of decorative jewellery to the female bikini/ pubic area.
Please lah agongkia, girls just wanna have fun. Rest assured, many of our "trendy" women and teenage girls are there waxed, trimmed, shaved and vajazzled. You need to lighten up, and show more appreciation for women who go to extraordinary lengths to make themselves "gorgeous" for our benefit ;-)
