The awakening of a sophisticated electorate

As everyday passes by, the age of the ignorance and the illiterate, our parents and grand parents, is fading away. The literacy rate of Singaporeans is among the highest in the world and the presumption that they are still as dumb as their parents and grand parents is not going to hold anymore. The two by elections and the Presidential Election must be open the eyes of many that things are not the same as before. Thinking and treating the Singaporeans as daft will have a very high price to pay.

The AIM case must have a logical and honest closure that is seen as proper and correct. There is no running away from it by sweeping it under the carpet or by some unacceptable reasoning. No, the people will not buy it. It is best to come clean and give the people a proper answer that the people are expecting.

And the licensing of the social media is coming in swiftly in a manner that is amazingly naïve, thinking that it can still be done, presuming the people to be daft and dumb. No, the people will not accept it anymore and will take it badly.

More daft and dumb policies assuming that the electorate is daft and dumb will have very serious consequences. It only explains and confirms who is really daft and dumb, refusing to understand and accept the new reality of an intelligent and politically sensitive and discerning people. The people have upgraded their intellect and the govt must upgrade its intellect as well. What we are seeing is a mismatch, a growing divide between the growing intellect of the citizens and the declining intellect of the govt.

Believe me, this is the truth. Failing to notice this, refusing to acknowledge this new development and living in the past is not going to be a viable political option. It is a losing position to adopt. Time to face the unpleasant truth. Time to take stock of the unavoidable truth.

  1. I read the old school textbook, comparing against my own history book in secondary school, and when I was a MOE teacher. During the old days, the history books are extremely interesting especially those of the Chinese school. It seek to educate student to become a conscience intellect. (The english school history book is much dumb)

MOE has been teaching very little about history. Singaporeans today is shallow because MOE masturbated our mind and try not to educate history. It will take some time in their adult working life to gain some awakening, even then, their awakening may be bias, partial, because of the lack of formal training.

This is a typical example of how elite will harm the people, making them stupid in order to hold on to power, never mind it hurts the society in long run.

    1. Education System in Sin after gaining Independence was for the Local Regime to start their brainwashing.
The Sin History will begin with how we were under orhers control and at their mercy. It will also tells Sinkies that the Local Leaders fought tooth and nails risking their live to get Independence for the Locals.

Our youngs are taufht that Sin was a primitive fishing village and that the Pioneer and Present Rulers have made it to be the Richest Country in the World and WITHOUT THEM, WE WILL STILL BE COOLIES, AMAHS AND FISHERMEN.

  2. Singaporean can only be a good society if we studied more humanity.

I remember the days when I muck in NTU library. Then workload is heavy. But I just cannot stop reading those history books, even at the expense of my work.

My history knowledge is not inborn. It was through the incredible amount of books I read.

After reading immense volume of work, and many are originals from Great Masters, an idea pops up. "Go backpack and see for yourselves".

I set off backpacking half the world with 8000 SGD, and hatching plans to hitchhike, stay in people's house...etc.

The joy of gaining insights are immense. And also you will not be deceived by MSM.

Also I observe the art type are really party animals. Do not have the rigor, inquisitive and diligent. Wonder if our arts professor is too shit and cannot inspire some one to be intellect?

The education system, and the culture revolves around the idea of telling you WHAT to think, not HOW to think.

Children are forced into OBEDIENCE not to challenge authority, and question everything. Children are taught how to read, but not taught to CRITIQUE or CRITICALLY EVALUATE what they read.

So you end up with an obedient, subservient population, where dissent and rebellion is frowned upon.

Challenge the status quo, even when the status quo is completely wrong -- and you get booed and hissed, shouted down, and if you annoy the government, you attract really smelly shit into your life.

  7. I think daft people will still vote for pap based on handouts, upgrading schemes etc . The smart ones already able to uplift themselves to landlord status and fully exploit the system pap set up. Since they need pap to be around to further exploit the system, they will also vote the pap. Pap will continue to be in power for the next GE.
