PSI above 400 is life threatening

‘PSI levels above 400 may be life-threatening to ill and elderly persons. Healthy people may experience adverse symptoms that affect normal activity.’

The quality of our air hit 371 on the PSI scale on Thursday. This is 29 points short of 400. According to the PSI definition, above 400 is life threatening. How threatening is this? Is it more serious than the dengue situation at the moment? Is it more serious than during the SARS crisis? What kind of adverse symptoms will hit the people?

What are the measures or plans that will be rolled out by the govt when 400 is reached? There were reports that more measures will be taken when the haze condition worsen. So when and what will be the measures that the people can expect? Would there be hospitals with special setups to take care of those having respiratory problems or other problems caused by the haze? Would there be field camps set up for the sick that are overflowing from the hospitals or are deemed dying?

How serious is a PSI of above 400 and what will the situation be like? Would all economic and social activities be halted and everyone be told to stay indoors? Would people be falling down along the roads?

Could the govt or the main media with their experts enlighten or educate the ignorant masses on how critical the situation will be like and what can the people do to protect themselves? We have fire drills, bomb drills, would there be a deadly haze drill?

When will it hit a crisis state or a national emergency be declared?

Singapore's PSI reading of 371 is a 3 hour average.
Meaning some of the reading has already exceeded 371.

  8. I wonder if our Millionaire Ministers will ever have the guts to declare it too hazardous for employees to go to work.

  9. What contingency plan? Never heard of any so far? Just talk cock and sing song only lah.

Everytime they tell us the Indons have a very close relationship with us, but when it comes to problems it is you die your business. They take care of their own people first unlike ours.

  11. let's just say for arguments sake, if goh keng swee was still alive and fit and healthy and is our pm, he would have flown to jakarta and talked to the indonesian president and somehow by hook or by crook got things done. our multi million dollar pm is just sitting on his pinkie arse.

  12. Redbean, at this rate, many likely would succumb to acute illness before the wind change direction to take the haze away.

Smokiepore now is like sitting duck lor.

    Waiting to be ...... sigh

Thought we had so many monkey years and decades of total defence training, practice, drills and preparation. What happen to all those precious money, time and effort spent? For show?

Again illustrate how prepared our scholars are, despite what they self-trumpeted all these yrs.

Thought some brilliant ex-generals always say forward deployment etc etc. Where hah are they military training skills in dealing with crisis and contingencies.

Is it normal time talk only #1?

    Now leh?

Got forward deployment and what have you military plan?

Pls show to all Singaporeans during real crisis the stars on their uniforms are for real .......

As of now, i believe more and more people are having breathing difficulties.

Seems like our total defence all these years dont seem to have much significant use, at least in this crisis. Sorry, dont blame the scholars hah, not within their control. They are beyond reproach ok!

They only paid expensive scholarship and come bk with big piece of certificate hang on the wall to tell the world they world class hor. Also paid big cheque every month sit in air-conditioned arm chair comfy office bz working for lesser mortals ok but got crisis not within their control cannot solve problem de.

Lesser mortals got breathing, health problem pls settle yrself. Cpf medisave for emergency use, this small breathing illness cannot touch medisave by law, ok? This is not emergency, so cannot suka suka touch and use yr medisave ok! Period.

  13. Not that I howlian ,I have mentioned and hinted somewhere in net before ,that there is such a possibility and there should be a contingency plan on standby.

But maybe too bad,my word carry no weight as many think that I play play.

What Sinkie need to do now is to stay cool and be confident in our neighbour's ability to control the situation.

I am having breathing difficulty lately and is on high risk.
    Solution:
RB should stop those posting that make the reader's pressure high.
Talk more about painting, music or even on beauties...

  14. Don't anyhow talk so disrespectfully about our super clever million dollar ministers. They deserve to be paid all the millions. Wait n see. They are like David Copperfield (the magician). Tomorrow they will wave the magic wand n the haze will disappear . So have to pay for the best brains in the whole world

  15. Uncle Chua, No one die from haze yet lah. So panic for what. Very bad for health. Stop behaving like a child.

  16. All Sinkies mati also no big deal lah can always replaced by aliens. They are always behaving like a child anyway. Must be grateful to the pap always.

  17. We must be grateful to the haze and mosquitoes to prove us that compulsory ns is a waste of resources and time and it is just a brainwashing exercise. There is no defence line to protect at all. Mindef can close shop tomorrow. Just outsource everything to some powerful cumtree.

  18. Cannot blame the gov and must be very grateful to them that it have not reached 400 yet. They must be praying very hard for us.

  19. All workers must be given hazard allowance if they have to work when the PSI hits 150 and above. Those working outdoor should entitle more. The effect of the smog is not immediate, complication may arise later due to accumulation of particles cause by the haze.

  20. All the soldier boys in the Cabinet if voted in, in the next General Election will not be calling for 'kee chiu'. They will be telking You hands up, meaning You better surrender.

Your fate will be in their hands; Sinkies better beware!

  21. It's so serious that the pm should go to Indonesia for talk or at least Vivian should go. But instead send a small fry there. U think Indonesia would view that the case is serious when a lower delegation is sent there? Who will meet him there? The indo president? Of course not, it will be a lower level guy as well right, protocol mah

  22. This year must pay million dollar ministers special bonus. What about 24 months bonus .... Is this enough ? Anyway is their bonus included in the declared salary or is it top secret. They are paid from taxes. So the tax payers should be told how much bonus each minister gets

  23. The magic wand was waved and the PSI went down to 95 this morning. And the contingency plan is being worked out. Eng Hen is heading the committee.

No one will die if the PSI remains below 100. Can go out and play and work.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Redbean,
you forget that PSI reading of 95 could be taken in Ivory Tower belonging to certain dynasty. Like typical dynasty protecting the regime, they just won't tell you the truth and you need to go with caveat emptor, and read with your eyes wide open.

PSI 95 means you are reading the "right" thing. Yacoob will be very very happy for you.

  25. Dont be alarmist lah.

So far there is no death reportedly link to the haze.

  26. "So far there is no death reportedly link to the haze. "

Agreed. As long as people is dying from the worsening haze but not dead yet, people is still safe from the haze. I just love PAP logic, must be the reason why they worth millions.

  28. Didn't someone get admitted yesterday due to the haze? It triggered a minor heart attack or something?

Would just like to add a few points:

    1. No point for NEA to fake PSI figures.

    2. The haze can't be blamed on our government.

    3. However what we can lay blame on is their inaction.

    4. But even so, apart from the mask distribution, I don't see anything else they can do...

    ReplyDelete
  29. Singaporeans who are anti-PAP government will regardless of what action the government take will never make them happy - this is a fact. How can we say there is no action by the government. Credit must be given to authorities for what they are doing to alleviate the situation. So fellow Singaporeans do not be alarmist or paranoid on the situation. If are the averagely fit person you are not going to die. For those in the danger category, just follow the NEA and MOH health advisory, you should be alright. Let's be in this together as a nation and not behave like political opportunists.
