Boycott against Citibank

There is a thread in TRE titled ‘Singaporean should boycott Citibank’ by a blogger calling himself, Angry Singaporean Customer. He is unhappy with the knowledge that Citibank is one of the foreign banks that employed a predominant number of foreigners as staff of the bank. 40% of the banks staff is foreigners or it is more? Some banks regard PRs as locals and lump them together with Singaporeans. If this is the case, then the percentage of foreigners could be much bigger.

With the influx of foreigners into the little island and with many PMEs being replaced, and with foreigners and foreign banks found to practise discriminatory employment policies against Singaporeans, the anger is growing among the Singaporeans against foreigners and foreign institutions. Citibank has been quoted in many places as one of the biggest culprit in favouring the employment of foreigners.

In the thread concerned, the author is calling for Singaporeans to boycott Citibank and not to do business with the bank. Many bloggers have responded positively to the call and some claimed to have cut their credit cards from the cards and stop using them. Some have been urged to bring away their deposits or business elsewhere.

This is probably the second time in recent months that there were calls in social media to boycott foreign businesses. The first was against Jollybeans that was not much of a success. Would this call to boycott Citibank end with similar result that it was all noise and nothing much will happen?

How would Citibank head office in the US view this threat of unhappiness against Citibank here? If the anger grows and becomes widespread, it would definitely have some negative impact on Citibank and also affect the reputation of the bank as one that is anti Singaporeans or even a racist bank.

The thread just appeared today and still gathering responses from netizens that are unhappy with the situation created in the bank. Maybe it will just fizzle out in a couple of days, like all protests in this little sanitised island. A little noise is all there is to it.

  1. As a ordinary Sinkie customer, what is Citibank that stand out among the other banks? Do they have a big ATM network like DBS? So to me, nothing really. Naturally, I am not even a customer yet.

Unless they pay very good FD rates lah, say 3% pa, or no charges for overdue credit card payments.

Of course they won't lah. So very easy to boycott lah.

  6. Actually many people did not know that white man MNC is very racist against mongoloid, in favor of Indians.

Not just Citibank CBP. In USA

    - Qualcomm more than 60% Indians. (confirm)

    - Microsoft more than 30% Indians
    ...etc.

India IQ is 82. Just the Zhejiang province of China is 116. How can Singapore got flooded with FT Indians. The eastern European are smart, why so little eastern europeans? And Singapore IQ is 108, higest in the world

Even in Singapore, I have heard from reliable sources that Autodesk SG software team also 50% Indians.

People feed back that Autodesk SG has Team A, Team B doing software. Team A is all Indians and Team B is mostly PRC. Singaporeans can go and eat shit.

Big boss of Software in Autodesk SG Indian. Indians team A got all the promotions and all the hard work are done by PRC team B. PRC team B bail the whole software team out.

Autodesk is one of the very very very few USA software IT MNC doing software development in Singapore. The others are Paypal/ebay (also indian infested).

The software/IT MNC could have got funding from EDB, and yet they hate Singaporeans.

I knew another German MNC who really hate Singaporeans.

One division especially are FT Indian infested. The manager hate Singaporeans so much that they prefer to sub contract to Tata consulting rather than giving Singaporeans a chance. No man power, hire FT Indians but Singaporeans get lost. They have receieved EDB fundings. Other divisions are china man, koreans . Singaporeans can go eat shit.

    Singaporeans have absolutely no chance.

  7. Actually mongoloid got to be realistic. Why white man MNC do not employ us despite we have high IQ?

The reason is China is a direct threat to western hegemony. The western elites are wary of us and they allied with Indians.

The western people found us ok but they hate Indians. This is a civilization war that PAP failed to see.

LKY is such a stupid man that he believe there is this thing call "meritocracy" in this world. Even his own civil service is not meritocratic giving all promotions to banana.

The banana who are westernize wage a civilization war against local chinese malay and indians. Today FT indians/PRC are waging a civilization war against Singaporeans.

We are led by fools, wicked and greedy elites, we will be despised by all nations. You go and read history book and you know all India neighbor despise India national, including Hindic people like Pakistani, Burma, Bangla, Nepal, Sri lanka, and as far as Malaysia and Arab land and Persia.

And almost all these 3rd world countries like CHINA most. Why? China is good and India is bad.

    We will be shit.

Any business which ignores the desires of their customers, deserves to FAIL.

  28. Totally boycott Citibank. Citi has no policy to support the community in which it opeates. its the same divide and rule, create chaos and loss of identity as the banksters apply throughout the world, pressing governments into doing the same - dilluding national identity, ties to community, loyalty to your country and citizenry to intro anarchy and rule of the dollar, the mighty money god. i worked at citi as a temp for 2 month, conclusion: citi sucks blood even from its employees not to mention customers and community.

  33. I will boycott Citibank soon. My Premiermiles card was lost last month and made the payment through another card and asked the staff should be the pinoy to transfer to my premiermiles card. However, she failed to do that. Therefore, I incurred the penalty $135.27. I called several times to waive off the penalty, but was to no avail. All staffs gave me thousand of excuses to waive off. Today I called again, one of the staff said because there was $800 paid late for only a day and not because the staff didn't transfer, therefore there is the penalty charge. What a nonsense, till now the amount still remain in the SMRT credit and didn't transfer and now they told me because a day delay. Even just only a day delay, they should waive the penalty $135.27. Terrible services!! If they don't waive off, I will bring this case to Court.
