Malaysia GE – The Chinese scapegoat
Just when things were appearing to get better, the Chinese bashing in Malaysia has been reignited. UMNO and MIC leaders are calling the Chinese ungrateful for their poor showing in the GE. Utusan Malaysia front paged, “Apa lagi Cina mahu (What else do the Chinese want?) in what appeared to be an attempt to shape the results of Election 2013 as a Chinese-vs-Malay vote”.
Mahathir led the charge and questioning if Najib should step down. While analysts were saying that it was an urban shift, a shift of the urban Malaysians across non racial lines against the corruption and race insensitive govt. The poll results were clearly showing this is the case. The opposition PR won more popular votes than the BN but somehow only have 89 Parliament seats against BN’s 133. Given the absolute majority of the Malays, around 70%, the more than 50% popular voters for PR means that many Malays have voted for the PR, and not just the Chinese and non Malays that formed a small minority of the population. It the Malay ground shift that really matters.
Though Najib has called for a national reconciliation, this is going to be difficult when he is pressured to take a more racist line or face being ousted. With Mahathir firing his cannons and treading on racist politics, and with Anwar calling for a mass protest against the result, tension is going to rise. The Malaysians should best be reminded that they should cool it from stoking racist emotions or a 1969 crisis could be in the making.
The test now is whether Najib has enough support and clout to keep the racist thinking leaders within UMNO in check and to keep his premiership secure. The risk of the country going in flame can still be a possibility if the provocateurs were allowed to run wild. Would Najib survive this brewing crisis and steer Malaysia away from returning to racial politics and Malay dominance rhetoric?
There are many leaders eagerly waiting on the side line to see his downfall and to replace him at the first opportunity. The progress made under Najib’s watch could immediately go to waste if he is no longer in charge. Events in the next few days can be very unnerving.
More than 50% of Malaysians voted for Pakatan.
ReplyDeleteAnd more than 50% of Singaporeans voted for PAP.
Some people are daft.
Some people are not.
@Anon 9.30am
ReplyDeleteBro, SIN 60.1% - real daft.
Cheers
With Mahathir trying to topple Najib, his son will likely be next in line for the PM to continue the Mahathir pedigree line.
ReplyDeleteIs there a better choice better than PM Najib in Malaysia? Anyway, the various Races in Malaysia know that it is not time to squabble about race and religion. Malaysians should feel blessed to have a large resource rich and naturally safe country to live in. Peace enables them to live well and prosper and to live better in the future, peace is vital.
ReplyDeleteMalaysians of all races are aware and mindful that maintaining peace will bring them to greater height and better living.
The only need they have to work together is to fight corruptions of those in authority.
Mslaysians are blessed and they should enjoy the blessings.

ReplyDeleteBut of course. So that Muhideen can warm the seat for his son Muhkriz.
Very good reading.
DeleteDo the Malaysians see through this?

With Mahathir the supremo racist stirring and fanning the heat, no one can stop the race card from being played. MS was warned to store up food and water when he was there.
ReplyDeleteAll MS had to do was to get back to Sin, no need to stock anything lah.
ReplyDeleteAnd for him not to be at HLP was for him to go to Malaysia.
If there is war in Sg and Malaysia, he will be in Aus.
Knn.
What can I say, UMNO again. And again. I am restraining myself from expressing my well-known hatred, disdain, mistrust for these err... people.
ReplyDeleteDr M might as well be Dr Evil, now the motherfucker is throwing in the race card, as a "strategic" move. Dirty, dirty cunt.
He must be so proud of his children -- they've all done so well. I can't imagine such a concentration of talent in one family. Truly remarkable.
@1012
ReplyDeleteYes, I am now back in Australia.
If there is a war in Singapore, I will come back -- with my own guns, custom-made ammo and explosives (all legally obtainable here) -- not to protect or fight for your sorry old arse, but to protect the stuff I own in Singapore...and maybe a few select people I like and know who also like me ;-)
Knn to you too.
Why so much interest in MS huh?MS will likely tell you actually he was there as a Fantom voter but before ERECtion,His kawan saw him and ask him to go back and promise him ice cream next time.
ReplyDeleteya man. they flew him in to vote. Tell us how much was paid.
ReplyDelete@1036 & 1055
ReplyDelete>> they flew him in to vote.
Wah lau. You make me more important than I actually am. ;-)
Please lah, the long-weekender in KL was purely pleasure, to take advantage of the May Day holiday -- to get very drunk, have nice massages and eat far too much.
However, if you want to turn mundane aspects in my very average life into something approaching "international political espionage"...be my guest :-)
Mahathir is a grandmaster, he is preparing the field for his son to be the PM. His tactics in Kedah worked and his son is already Mentri Besar there, what can we say, Najib and the next PM would just be seat warmers like we had in Singapore till the son is ready. The two old man Lee and Mahathir are no fools.
ReplyDeleteWell Muhyiddin, Hisamuddin and Khairy would have to be sidelined.
ReplyDeleteNajib is no seat warmer lah.
ReplyDeleteUnliked Annuar and Badawi who were handpicked by Mahathir, Najib rose to be the Premier at the time when Badawi was having difficulty.
Najib succeeded Badawi and has made Malaysia a successful nation. He even won an international citation no other S E Asian Leader ever achieved.
Mahathir maybe grandmaster, however Najib is no fluke too.
Najib is the eldest child of the Second Prime Minister Of Malaysia Tun Abdul Razak.
DeleteYoung Najib was studied in UK for many years started from secondary onwards all the way to Nottingham University.
He is one exposed to politics at a very young age and having spent many years in advanced country, he is probably more opened minded. He should have a better multi- culture/racial understanding whilst in UK.
Najib might have been a student to Mahathir and this student maybe one that supercede his teacher or mentor despite the latter being a grandmaster. Malaysians know it.
The grandmaster versus the student. Can the student outdo the grandmaster?
ReplyDeleteI think this is an interesting scenario to watch. It will make a good movie, much more complicated and exciting than Hollywood stuff.
Malaysians of all races are more well informed today than a decade or so ago.
DeleteMany Malays voted for Chinese Opposition Candidates, likewise many Chinese voted for Barisan Nasional Malay Candidates and there is nothing surprising about the phenomenon. They were all voting according to their confidence in the candidates and not on racial line.
The candidates that got elected were those that have proven their mettles in the past. Few elected were brand new politicians.
Malaysia had progressed much within the last few years, which is obvious to most. The progress was achieved with the peaceful and harmonious relationships amongst the various races.
If Malaysians are able to prevent corruption, be it to bribe or take and work together, Malaysians will be one of the luckiest people.
I am chinese but give me a malaysia citizenship and i will alway vote BN. I can do some gardeningown in my freedhold landed house and drive my private car to work. I can have a family and cheap food and petrol. All the things I will never have or can do if I stay being singaporean. Najib has done a lot of good things for his people such as free elderly healthcare and pay high return for EPF unlike our CPF. Only raising minimum sum but never raise the return on CPF.
ReplyDeleteDr M is old and senile and so silly. Many chinese voted BN. Please go and take a good look at the poll stations or take a good look at the votes which are supposed to be confidential???
Mahathir is an evil man. A non Malay he singlehandedly destroyed the most promising Malay political talent Malaysia has produced so far. Malaysia has lost Anwar Ibrahim because of him.
ReplyDeletemake no mistake,
ReplyDeletethere'r many bumniputras who perceive they'r being *marginalised* in their own country [sounds familiar ?]
stay moderate, dont get carried away by the opp promise
there'r genuine resentment lurking below the surface
dont stoke that fire
if shits hit the fan like 1963,1969
who'll come to ur rescue, the opp ? the un ?

ReplyDeleteCorruption is everywhere including first world europe. the difference lies with what and how they were reported. Just like the healthcare changes in Holland making health insurance and management very rich by screwing up the ordinary folks.
No such thing as "free" anything from government
ReplyDelete- of cos nothing is 'free' but if it is heavily subsidised by the rich and top people, it is free.
@749:
ReplyDelete>> if it is heavily subsidised by the rich and top people, it is free.
In which cuntree, and in which universe is this fictitious cuntree?!? Get your head out of your arse and real lah.
Where are you living...in some magical kingdom or in very corrupt SE Asia?
It is never subsidized by the top. It is the duty of the top to con the bottom into thinking that they (the top) "care". They don't. The most talented top people con the losers at the bottom to "subsidize" their lavish lifestyles. Notice how Asian leaders live in very nice houses whilst the blur Loser Sheeple wonder where all their money goes to.
In politics, the name of the game is POWER. To get power, make friends with the rich and powerful, and then use politics to screw the poor.
Sound familiar?
Use the race card, turn the anger against the Chinese so the election fraud is forgotten. Race riots bigger problem, Anwar's complaint of losing the election becomes non event. UMNO won. Anwar also forgotten. Shed some blood to make it serious.
ReplyDeleteIs that the strategy?
Right now Najib's leadership does not rest in the hands of the people but the UMNO members. Mahathir is tactically preparing the ground for the ouster of Najib before December. 90% of the UMNO members are closet Malay supremist and the likes of Khairy and company will support his son to get position. While Mahathir might have labelled the opposition supportors "Greedy Malay" he will work with the same "Greedy Malays" within UMNO to achieve his goals. BTW all of them are Greedy Malaysians, just like Singapore
