APEC 2024 Peru. Biden shafted to a corner in the back row. Xi in front row next to Peru's President

Sunday morning's joke of the day.
Anyone looking for a joke, please go to TRE and read the article, NTU's Professor speaks against anti immigrant policies. Ok, before I got misunderstood. It is a sick joke. Unbelieveable! I am truly astounded by the pearls of wisdom.
My Filipino maid who has a B.Sc. econs degree from the Philippines read this professor's comments and the first remark she made was, "Our professors of economics have more economic sense than this dude." Then she goes on and on as to why we don't recognize their economics degrees when their teachers are better.
My maid is getting out of hand. I will discipline her for impertinence but secretly, I have to agree with her.
"The new measures will give Switzerland some of the world's strictest corporate rules.
The 'fat cat initiative', as it has been called, will be written into the Swiss constitution and apply to all Swiss companies listed on Switzerland's stock exchange.
Support for the plans has been fuelled by a series of perceived disasters for major Swiss companies, coupled with salaries and bonuses staying high.
One of the organisers of the referendum told the BBC she thought the Swiss people agreed with the proposals because the gap between rich and poor had become wider."
[Wrong to imply new citizens can't become 'true' S'poreans]
"While the decision to accept large numbers of economic immigrants as new citizens may be a cause for concern, invoking cultural emotions to cast doubt on their ability to adopt a S'porean way of living is contrary to the principle of multiculturalism.
The decision to accept or reject immigrants must be made based on rational thinking and logic rather than fear and guilt about the people losing their identities as S'poreans.
He is more right than he is wrong.

ReplyDelete[Given cost of living,
how can S’poreans be expected to take low-paying jobs?
from Geoffrey Chia]
"We have already reached a point where you need a certain amount of salary in order to have a proper retirement.
If not, you have to take a loan for housing, a car or maybe even to start a family.
So how do you expect locals to take on such jobs?"
