Our parents planted this Singapore tree for us
Singaporeans and the early migrants and the pioneering political leaders, not today's, built Singapore into what it is today. True blue Sinkies must not forget this truth. The political leadership today, many were just born yesterday with the exception of a few oldies, do not build the rich and prosperous Singapore but enjoying all the benefits and privileges that came from yesterday's sweat and tears.
Today, we are inviting so many foreign talents to enjoy the fruits of our parents' labour, the labour of yesterday's generation. And these foreign talents are here to replace the children of yesterday's hardworking Sinkies. They are all sitting in high places, earning big bucks and talking rubbish about why we need them and how able and talented they are. And to bring in more foreign talents at our expense.
True blue Singaporeans must not forget that what we are today is a gift from our parents who slogged for it and getting very little in benefits. They planted this big tree for us, not for foreigners. The foreigners did not plant the tree but are here to pluck the fruits.
True blue Singaporeans can be generous and share some of the fruits to others but not to impoverish themselves and their children and future generations to come. Singapore is what it is today not because of the foreigners that are here today.
Times change. Parents, and their parents die off. When they were alive, their actions counted. We live in a very different world now -- where borders and states are getting less significant, and the younger set prefer to be mobile and live wherever they can obtain the most benefit.
ReplyDeleteIt's called "choice". We have a lot more choice than our parents/ grandparents. I would say most of them had NO CHOICE but to make the best of it given their circumstance.
We live in the present, not the past -- which is over, finished and of decreasing significance as time moves forward.
The only thing which counts is the ACTION you can take as an individual in the present. Everything else is just opinion or an illusion -- as nice and as "important" as you might think it is -- it is NOT.
You can start anywhere, and take ACTION towards specific goals. It really doesn't matter how or what the historical narrative is (unless you are making a documentary for 'Discovery' or 'Nat Geo').
We are supposed to share and take turns. We learn that before primary school.
ReplyDeleteDon't let the young ideals be corrupted by adult behavior. We know that PAP never share and never take turns. They chop Parliament for half a century.
Let us teach them to share and to take turns.
Our parents may have planted this Singapore tree.
ReplyDeleteBut the manure they used was really a poison in disguise.
That is why the Singapore tree is dying.
Don't use white label poison.
Use blue label fertilizer instead.
The world will be a better place without LKY. Sinkies will still be part of malaya and can enjoy all the freehold houses and cheap cars at affordable rates.
ReplyDeleteThe tree your parents planted haas aged and be replaced with instant trees.
