Govt policies a major cause of low TFR

Come on, let’s cut the shit. The low TFR of Sinkies is largely the result of bad Govt policies. The other problems, though presumed to be personal, are also related to Govt policies. No?

NS already robs the guys two to two and a half years of their lives from the activities of finding a partner and procreation. Many would have to start dating all over again as their relationship with the opposite sex could have been prematurely terminated while in NS. Absence does not necessarily lead to growing fonder when there are plenty of guys around to pick and choose from, or there to make the move.

The high cost of living cannot be ignored. It is no joke getting married when everything is so expensive, and getting a flat is top priority. Don’t talk cock by asking the young and well educated to stay together in a HDB flat with their parents. They want to start life anew, to create their own little paradise. Can’t blame them. And due to the high cost, they need a few years of working life to save up for the marriage. Money does not grow from the tree, or to be so fortunate to having a rich papa and mama to provide the big ticket items.

And the savings are not limited to just housing, some may want to have a car, but most important, having babies doesn’t come cheap. The medical fees and all the accessories needed for a growing child, the school and tuition fees and all other fees to equip them for a better life, all costs a lot of money. Not many can afford to marry young. Several more years will have to be set aside for this saving phase of their lives.

Then the biggest asshole pompous policy must be housing. Getting a HDB flat is the biggest pain in the arse for many young couples. Many got to put off marriage or having babies because of this. And the wait was 4 or 5 years if they are lucky, though now reduces to 3 or 4 years.

Not only that the flats take a long time to come, and expensive, but small, baby, small, for small families only. Having two is already too big a bundle to handle. Young and upward mobile couples with babies need maids, a place for live in maids. Govt policies right, shrinking flat size and wanting more babies, what a contradiction? But not Govt’s fault really. Govt’s policies are all well thought out, well planned ahead into 2030. All the ministries know what the other is doing and will coordinate to have a set of well considered and coherent policies that make sense and not nonsense, and pro family. Don’t worry, trust the Govt.

And hey, by the time these young people got their flats and are ready, they have lost almost 10 years of their youth, and for the ladies, the biological clock too is a big disadvantage, and many would not have that many productive years left to risk making healthy babies.

Whose fault is that?

Then there is this subconscious memory of Stop At Two that have entered the psyche of many Sinkies. Many would not have broken free of this psychological barrier to have more children, and for good reasons. With the high cost of living and medical fees, stiff competition even at the tender age of schooling, having babies is no longer masak masak, just poot poot and out come the babies. Serious considerations and thoughts must be put into this long and arduous process of bringing up children, to love them and enjoy them, not to become someone’s economic data for GDP growth. That would be the saddest thing to happen.

  1. RB, ya right. They just refused to see that it's due to the bad policies that they have. They don't mind cause 1) they can top up with immigrants and 2) for the oldies, they can ship them to Johore wellness centre.

By doing this, singapore will be forever young and vibrant

  5. It is very difficult for young couples to have confidence these days in Singapore to motivate them to take the dive into parenthood.

This morning I had breakfast with a not so young man. He came here about two years ago to sell tractor and farm equipment. This man shared with me something quite interesting. He told me that it was insane to spend 40 years of his life working to pay off a pigeon hole or to spend 100K just to buy a Korean entry level car. So he followed his wife back to Malaysia. Now he stays in a bungalow with three dogs and has a French car for a fraction of the price. His housing loan will take less than 15 years to pay off. As for his car, it is still quite expensive, but definitely not as crazy as in Singapore.

I told him, it was time for him to proceed to the next level of life. He did not disagree with me.

I think Chin Leng. Many people no longer look to the govt to improve their lot any longer. They already know deep inside, it's every man for himself.

Good Morning to you and the others!

I have lunch with some oldies relatives mainly housewife type and they still think pap of today is same as pap of yesteryear. They totally believed in the white paper that foreigner are to take care of the elders here. When I asked her what she got out of the government, she stayed silence but she still is strong pap voters irrespective.

Vote Opposition if you want to get married earlier.
And get your HDB flat earlier.

    GE 2016.
This is our chance to increase TFR in Singapore.
But bestest of all, a chance to make those politicians in white unemployed.

  10. I suggest that the govt treat all 2-year full-time NSmen as regular soldiers and pay them regular soldiers' monthly salaries. Right now they are paid NS pays which I think they would lack behind the girls who are not required by law to do NS. The girls actually have 2 years advantage ahead of the boys due to NS liabiity. This way the NSmen will have enough savings when they completed their 2 years service. Just a suggestion.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Pay them the market salary is the least they can do. If given a choice I do not even want my sons to serve on market salary not to mention ns allowance.

Market salary means the pay scale of SAF hor. Not putting money in their cpf etc which is monopoly paper money to me totally useless

    ReplyDelete
  12. Not paying our soldiers due salary is exactly PAP's intention of social engineering.

Every years, thousands of FT junk scholar study here fully paid. We have all the $$$.

By not paying us in NS, PAP ensures young man are put into student loan. When you graduate, you are indebt. That makes you stooge.

A professional army cannot exist in LKY system. LKY damned system is filled will serious contradiction that will implode in the long run.

If we have regular force, who can we recruit? The answer is the Malay who are now working as janitor and are more martial as chinese are pussified by LKY.

Within a few years, the army will be taken by Malay. This is the reason why everywhere is going for mercenary, LKY continue to stick to his shit conscription.

I do not mind Malay taking over the army if we have a truely just and democratic institution. But LKY system is toxic, and the Malay are still not aware to the full extend they got short changed.

One day some Malay prophet or people like the bigot blogger Barrie Bear shout out the incitation/lies/truth on the roof calling for Jihad against Chinese, we all get massacre.

  16. There is evidence to show that Muslim will defend its state, even if they are ruled by infidels. That is provided the system is fair and democratic enough.

In Israel, the Druze Arab Muslim gave away their life fighting and killing their own Arab Muslim brothers.

They Druze elders even volunteer their sons for military. Today, the state of Israel impose conscription on Druze, and they are all willing to serve.

To the Druze, dying for Israel is much better than living under corrupt Arab states.

Also many Bedouins who are Arab Muslim volunteer for the Israeli army. The famous Amos Yarkoni is a Arab Islam Bedouin who rise to Lieutenant Colonel, and got many decorations.

The loyalty of Muslim in their states is a long topic and it will take a lot of blog to explain. I am not able to explain it in one or two comments.

In short, I have faith in our Muslim brothers. The toxic and noxious LKY system must go. Then we can build a united nation as one people.

    ReplyDelete
  17. The Muslims have had a glorified history in the ME. The Malay warrior in Malaysia were probably Hang Tuah and his brothers.

Malaysian history is too recent to have any martial or military tradition and defending the country to talk about. They did not defend or fight against the British. Neither did they fight against the Japanese.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Both my sons just out of ns recently and studying at the local university. i was told that when they get call for reservist duty, since they are students and no job, they don't even get a cent for the two weeks they get call to serve. Is that factually correct? Is this a new system?

  20. Malay Muslim taking over Singapore is 10x better than Indians taking over Singapore.

    Trust me.

Islam is intolerant and Muslim treats gentiles as 2nd class citizen, calling them Dhimmi. Islam Sharia allows discrimination of Dhimmi, but that is much better than Dalits under the Hindic civilizations.

In all Hindic countries, Dalits are treated worst than animals. The hereditary career path for Dalit man is shit collector and woman is prostitute.

Islam has manage to run a country decently even though there is still lots of oppression and genocide. In Islamic country where there are no oil like Turkey, Bahrain, you got shinny countries.

In Lebanon where there are more Christian, its almost as beautiful as Paris even though civil war is on going.

In all these countries, where there are no natural resources, NO ONE shit on the streets.

In India, many people shit on the streets.

In Islam states, few woman get raped. In India, woman get rape and murder like no body.

I am not saying Islam is good. But given Singapore next PM is likely to be Tharman, I am very worried.

    ReplyDelete
  21. With all the ministers discredited or discrediting themselves, Tharman is quietly enjoying his relative acceptability vis a vis the rest.

He is likely to be the next PM. This I agree. Who says Sinkies are racists?

    ReplyDelete
  22. He does has the 1000 per month salary can own a flat attached to him despite being a ex economist, central banker and a finance minister making this type of joke

    ReplyDelete
  23. I hope Tharman would remember how Hindic civilizations auto-screw his clan and his neighbours. I hope he would not go the Hindic shit ways.

Tharman’s grandfather was from Urelu, Jaffna, Sri Lanka. He was Tamil. Today, Jaffna was bombed like a crater by Sinhalese army.

Put the story simple. Aryan Sinhalese was more stupid than Dravidians Tamil. Tamil prosper and Aryan Sinhalese got eye red. They start to make Tamil Dalits by making discriminatory law after independence from British.

The Tamil fights. Few years ago, the Sinhalese won the after.

Personally, I knew FT from Tamil Sri Lanka, that got whole family killed by Aryan Sinhalese.

Tharman father is Dr. Kanagaratnam Shanmugaratnam,a medical doctor. Its lucky that grandpapa Tharman has the foresight to come Singapore, where there is no caste shit.

The Chinese allow Tharman to ascend without discrimination. If grandpapa Tharman was to remain in his Jaffna village, most likely Tharman could end up as a terrorist in Tamil Tiger.

I only hope Tharman can instropect the wickedness of Hindic civilization and not to impose on Singapore.

    Agree.

One Singaporeans manager blame Singaporeans for no job loyalty. He told me wage rise is only 3% a year, and he cannot make Singaporeans stay long.

Others told me Singaporeans are more vocal. Smart Singaporeans make managers stressful of being put down in meetings. Managers can shake leg with FT.

There are many more reasons why FT are preferred and from my experience, not to many are due to that Singaporeans cannot deliver.

Our country has been run like a feudal state with tyrant managers too long. Such system is unsustainable.

Bad monies drive out good. Today, the system in against the interest of young Singaporeans.
