PAP in an awkward position

It is not what you think. It is not a 69 or 66 or a 99. It is neither about Michael Palmer. The PAP has always been on the right side of things, or on top of things. This time it is like the gun is pointing at the wrong direction, at the PAP. The AIM thing is looking very awkward for the PAP.

This time the Town Council or the Town Council Chairman, or the directors of AIM are all synonymous with the PAP. They are the PAP. Now there is a certain act that the legal counsels will say that there is a prima facie case to answer. All the facts are on the table, or almost all. And the people are asking for more. There are many questions being asked and the answers are still yet to come forward. Whatever answers that have been given were not acceptable, not good enough.

Soon the people are going to ask the PAP to come clean, to be transparent, to tell all there is to tell. Now this is familiar ground, not aiming at the opponents but at PAP. All the guns are trained, big and small, but without the firepower of a coordinated PAP machinery, ministers, MPs and the IBs and more. But in terms of breath and depth, it is far more reaching. It is the people that are taking the PAP to task.

The PAP is now in the dock. Everyone is asking questions. The people want the truth and nothing else will do. The people are making very uncomfortable but reasonable demands on the PAP to come clean and tell all.

Would there be answers? Or would the questions, like the questions on the construction cost of a HDB flat, or the money in the SWFs, be left unanswered? The people are standing on high moral grounds and wanting answers from the PAP. The PAP is in defense, in damage control mode. The people are setting the agenda and the mood of questioning. It is awkward, very awkward. The Michael Palmer saga was awkward until some went into hiding. This one is extremely unsettling.

Whether it is 69, 66 or 99, someone has to be on top, and someone below. Unless you are doing 69,66 and 99 lying on your side, in which case it could be on the right side or the left side.

However, I think the PAP is in a missionary position - they always do things with a mission or an AIM.

    PAP = People's ACTION Party
    AIM = ACTION Information Management

    Actions speak louder than words.

  2. There would be more questions like the set up of town councils, the appointment of MPs as high salaried GM of the TCs, the award of contract from maintencance, cleaning and conservancy and essential services. There is a big can of worm there. Was the public interest served or just pure pilfering of money from the people?

  3. imagine if WP did not win aljunied. this AIM scandal would never have surfaced. that's why we need opposition parties in parliament. absolute power corrupts.

  4. The olsd saying that "absolute power corrupts absolutely" has never failed. PAP ought to know this and implement check & balance to ensure itself is corruption free, not necessary money but power corrupt too. If that is not done, then PAP members do not derserve the right to wear the all white uniform. Its a shame!

  5. What is the prime motivation for such a complicated and clumsy arrangement ? Where is the beef ... I have been asking myself ?

There is definitely conflict of interest. But the sum of money involved is modest.

To make it more difficult for opposition to run a town council in case they win ? That would be too trivial.

Then I read one comment from a person who used to be an expert in financial IT system - the value of such an outdated system is the "data" or historical records.

Perhaps there are information contained in the historical records that are really really interesting .....

  6. Teo Ho Pin gave a long and convolution explanation of the AIM issue that did NOT clarify anything but raise more doubts instead. It give one the suspicion that he is trying to hide away from the crux of the issue with plenty of unnecessary and unconnected info.

  7. Dear Anon & All,

The actual quote is: "Power TENDS TO courrpt, absolute power TEND TO corrupt absolutely". Most people forget and dismiss the two key words TEND TO I've put if caps! Do check it up if you are in doubt. Simple Reason TENDS TO are necessary is: Really decent & honestly sincere people will not abuse absolutely.. because when they make a mistake as to err is human.. they will own up and make corrections whether they realize it themselves or they are informed about it. They need a clear conscience. whereas people are don't need such a conscience TENDS TO. And so people like @The said who glorified PAP.. has absolutely no wisdom about these things. All he/she has is an affluent techno mentality with little of humanity in the brain for a heart o feel pretty bad like LKYism in PAP doesn't.

That said I will ask @The said that shouldn't PM have SACKED Michael Palmer by returning his resignation. Obviously then.. wasn't he asked to hand in his resignation! Any large enough corporation, even a medium public listed organization with holistic values would have sacked their Chairman, CEO, MD, ED, GM or any member of their BOD for such conduct! LKYism in PAP is an absolute EXCEPTION to such values that good people will value!

  10. Folks,
We should be more forgiving and gracious in this 2013,
PM is seen trying every effort to make Sinkies happy but its the Khakia that fail to meet the standard.PM cannot be everywhere to audit everything. Its some of his incompetent Khakia that is making life difficult for citizen which PM dun really realise and tarnish the image. Not easy to find good, dedicated, honest talent with integrity. Those cases mentioned are isolated cases.
Talented one do not want to join PAP to service the citizen.
Some join opposition but I dun find much difference even if they hold power.
Its not about a party. Its individual.I find many talents here in MSN.Should consider to join PAP and help PM to meet his goal in 2016.Be a good citizen and be happy.Like me,being squeezed dry dry ,about to land in Bedok Reservoir still dun blame anyone except myself.

  12. We need either less corruption or more chances to participate in it.

The choice is yours to make.

  14. Agongkia maybe right in saying the PM may not know and or be aware of what his kahkias did and or are doing.

  15. If PM cannot control his party members, then he should resign.

This type of management standard, still want to introduce nuclear energy into Singapore.

    KABOOM !!
    Sorry. I was not aware.
Let's all move on and emigrate to other countries while we wait for Singapore's radioactive levels to go back to normal.

The problem is that the sex pill from reliable source is not working.
The "reliable" source is no longer reliable.
Have stopped working for the benefit of Singaporeans many years ago.

  17. Does PM Lee support Teo Ho Pin?
If not, then why does PM Lee not sack Teo Ho Pin?

  19. If the people truly get the government they deserve, then it is up to the people to constantly hold their government's feet to the fire.

I wouldn't worry about it. This placement of the PAP in "awkward positions" is a good thing.

Even at the seemingly "low tax rates" in the Island-City-Hotel State Paradise, Singaporeans and residents collectively pay a huge amount of money to a coterie of "elites" whose job it is to run the fucking cuntree -- PROPERLY.

    Got service?

I think Sinkies should join WP and help Low Thia Khng clean up Singapore in 2016.

  25. I hope some of you strike lottery and blanjah us for a drink: )

Age does matter in all kinds of position. Don't try to do sit ups or hand stand when you are of a ripe age.

Incidentally I just read over the news that Alex Au has been issued a letter by Hsien Loong to remove his offending posts in Yawning Bread. You guys here don't get too personal about indiscretions or serious breaches. Otherwise I may receive a letter to take down some pages.

Let's be observers and make fair comments without maligning anyone in paticular.

    Happy New Year to all.

  27. Thx again SG Girl.

True Blue Sinporean sounds so much more patriotic than patriot.

Me somehow feels that there are hundreds of thousand Singaporeans are now feeling the same about AIM as well as the Regime. How is anyone going to change this feeling when no clarification and correction are made to clear the suspicion in the minds of the people?

The situation is getting more confusing as the Issue becomes more complex as more doubts and suspicions are created by Mayor Teo Ho Pin's explanations. 越描越黑。

One thing for sure is that most Singaporeans are like Alex Au, all waiting for clarity of the AIM Issue.
