Is Lui Tuck Yew kidding?

‘Given Singapore's limited space for new roads, the government plans to further curb vehicle growth from next year, revealed Transport Minister Lui Tuck Yew.’ This is quoted from Yahoo News.

We have just heard of a White Paper discussing about Singapore having a population of 7m from the current 5.3m. Can the island have enough space for an additional 1.7m people when it cannot find space for new roads and have to curb the growth of vehicles on the road? It is either the island still has a lot of space for more people or the island has not enough space. It cannot have more space for more people but not enough space for vehicles unless these people do not need the use vehicles in their lives, for private or public transport. The growth of road network will also be halved. Lui said, "You can't allow it (the vehicle quota) to grow at the rates in past years simply because the road networks are not expanding as what we have done before,"

It is getting very confusing. When population growth is concerned, we can grow and grow and build and build more housing to support the growth. Then we cannot have space for more roads for more vehicles.

  2. A joke of PAP and Singaporeans.

PAP: People is the only resource of Singapore
(Not true, but let's go with it)

Singaporeans: Heah, we are precious. We should get free healthcare and free education up to PhD.

PAP: Let's import 10 million people. We don't see a difference between Singaporeans and immigrants. We are all people.

    Singaporeans: die liow.

  3. RB, the message is very clear. Future Singaporeans are not allowed to own cars. Cars are for the super rich and foreigners. Singaporeans are supposed to cramp in available buses and trains. Best if Singaporeans keep themselves in their pigeon holes and don't move out of their holes. Singapore is for the rich to enjoy. Why complain?

  4. Hi RB, you may want to write about foreigners and Singaporeans having double citizenship.

Recently PAP seems to close one eye on double citizenship. People around me and unconfirmed friends of friends successfully get 2 passport.

I think we are witnessing a collapse of our social contract.

Face it. We got to be international citizen. We need to educate Singaporeans to forgo illusions we have with PAP government.

  5. The PAP has been saying the last few days that everything they did was for Singaporeans. I dunno how many Sinkies believe that.

Actually, I can believe that. It is the truth - only caveat is that it is not the whole truth.

Everything they did is for Singaporeans - but for that 0.1% of Singaporeans who are the elite.

Remember the beneficiaries of plutocracy, nomenklatura and amakudari? They are Singaporeans too.

  9. You have to understand the PAP's mind. More people means more houses needed, so more land will be sold at higher prices. And more expensive HDB flats will follow.

Moreover, more people means more demand for cars and what better way to make more money than asking people to buy more cars, but not to drive on roads by making ERP more comprehensive and expensive islandwide, making driving very very expensive. On the other hand, if people do not drive their cars, car park spaces will be in demand, so again more money will be made with higher parking fees.

When everything belongs to them, talking through the top arse or bottom arse is the same lah!

  10. Dear Redbean

Population growth is but a ponzi scheme. Whenever the present population ages, the next generation would have to increase to look after them. Primary 1 math.

This is a natural order if the aged population is our kith and kin. It becomes nonsensical if we import the population and bring the trouble onto ourselves.

    Our leaders are traitors.

  12. Obviously those elites never do their homework properly or they are just so evil thinking that only the rich can own cars. IT IS TIME TO DOWNSIZE THEM AND CURB THEM. Vote WP so they can slap them left, right, top, down, center.

  13. Hi Robert and Patriot, we all know the truth and the ponzi games being played. A regime change is necessary to turn the tide against such wild policies that will only bring disasters when the wind changes direction.

    Me agrees fully with You.

Either the Regime has to be changed
    or
we have to get away from its' tentacles that have reached every nook and cranny. There is very little space left for us to live in peace.

I would say that this would be a much more realistic and effective strategy.

You could also implement it IMMEDIATELY because it only requires YOUR OWN personal choice and actions.

"Regime change" won't accomplish anything. You'll just substitute a new bunch of corrupt assholes for the old bunch over-fed cunts. And the government is merely a collective expression of We The Sheeple's culture, character and social order/ disorder.

Singaporeans don't trust nor do they necessarily like each other. That's why they have a government which achieves it's goals by "tekaning" people. Use carrot and stick, but usually much more stick. Carrots are only used when elections are coming.

  16. In answer to your question, the amazing part is Tuck Yew is serious. Obviously, he failed Logic 101. As did the rest of the Cabinet...

When we were 2 million, we were told we didn't have enough people. When we had 4 million, we heard the same story. At 5 million, still not enough. How many EXACTLY is ''enough''?

Will there be a stage when there are too many? When providing roads and housing are minor problems? A time when providing food, water and electricity for the hordes are major considerations? Especially since we don't produce any of this basic stuff ourselves.
