Two thirds of jobs created went to foreigners
Lim Hng Kiang has quoted some numbers on jobs created over the last 5 years and how many of these jobs went to locals and foreigners. He said, ‘In the last five years, we have been generating something like 120,000 jobs a year, of which 40,000 are Singaporeans and we end up with 80,000 foreign workers. Going forward we have decided that this is no longer tenable over a long term.’
In summary, over the last 5 years 600,000 jobs were created and only 120,000 went to Singaporeans. Could the numbers be extrapolated backwards for a 10 year period and could the number be 1.2m jobs created with 400,000 going to locals and 800,000 going to foreigners? How long has this ratio of employment favouring foreigner been going on that Hng Kiang now realised that it is unsustainable and must be stopped? He said that his ministry would now be more selective and stringent in the type of companies to bring in and the type of jobs that would be created.
His projection is that this year 80,000 to 100,000 jobs will be created and between 40,000 to 60,000 foreign workers would be added to the workforce. The numbers of jobs created for foreigners would still be around 50 to 60 percent. The country is thus creating more jobs for foreigners than for locals even when the govt is going to be more selective going forward. Only if some of the jobs created can go to local PMETs, the unhappy noises would be much lesser.
Why are our elected leaders treated the people who elected them so badly? Granting PRs and citizenship so liberally that these foreigners are competing with citizens for jobs and housing?
ReplyDeleteWhat have we, the sinkie, done wrong that our leaders give up on us?

Looking at the current situation, it seems history is repeating itself. During WWII, British hasd its guns at Sentosa pointing towards the main island. Now we have the strong army with NS men ready to prevent an invaion NOT knowing that invasion has started years ago with the influx of our FTs at our backyard. Will they ever learn???
ReplyDelete"What have we, the sinkie, done wrong that our leaders give up on us?"
ReplyDeleteHa! Ha! This is so funny.
oldhorse. What have we done wrong?
ANSWER:
We voted for them over the past 47 years. That's what we did wrong!!
Knn lor
ReplyDeleteThanks for the proof that foreigners depend on Singapore for their livelihood, not the other way round!
ReplyDeleteForeigners are needed to prop up the hot property market, benefitting the HDB the most.
ReplyDeleteThe whole fucking economy is almost dependent on property. The construction industry totally, manufacturing industry partly for the cement, steel, pipings, cables, doors etc, the renovation industry totally, with the service industry, particularly lawyers doing a brisk job collecting tens of thousands of dollars for each flat sold.
Meanwhile property also generate lots of business for the insurance industry, the interior designing companeis, furniture manufacturers and the list goes on.
Yes, they have to keep blowing the property bubble to sustain the whole fucking economy.
The job goes to the best person.
ReplyDeleteIf foreigners are getting more jobs over Singaporeans (i.e. if you believe the stats...I'm skeptical), then that means Singaporeans have to life their game.
Got your game face on yet?
Pssst: the world doesn't owe you a living. Wake the fuck up...or remain in blissful, ignorant slumber ;-)
PAP does not owe Singaporeans a living.
ReplyDeleteAnd Singaporeans do not owe PAP a living.
Looks like the PAP is elected by Singaporeans but owed their living to the foreigners.
ReplyDeleteI dunno what to say? Time to make a real change in 2016.

No, it won't change. Politics is an extension of the cuntree's CULTURE -- the world view and self interested behaviour of every individual expressed COLLECTIVELY in politics.
That's why many African, South American and Arab cuntree's are politically fucked. Their people are fucked in their individual head, and express themselves politically as a COLLECTIVE.
Like every nation and their peoples on this planet, Singapore will always adhere to the truism:
The People Get The Government They Deserve
Change?
In your dreams lah!
"The People Get The Government They Deserve" - the people can make a change if they can unite themselves and it is a matter of time that they will do it. in singapore, it is quite easy, they do not have to spring, they just need to sing the same tune. there is a will, there is a way.
ReplyDeleteIt may come sooner than you think.
ReplyDeleteBrought forward by courtesy of the talented Singaporeans that You have voted to take You to Switzerland.
ReplyDeleteSay only hor.
But, they themselves go everywhere paid by their voters and families.

Hahahahahaha...my balls are laughing so hard people in the office below my chair think that there's an earthquake going on...
Please lah..Singaporeans won't cooperate with each other lah, unless there's money involved. Materialistic society lor...wake up, sleepy head!
Too many of your fellow Cuntrymen live in fear 24/7...that's why they need over paid idiots to do the thinking for them, and thus: Get The Government They Deserve
Kiasu-Kiasi-kancheong people will get an "ex-spurt-action" kiasu-kiasi-kanchong government.
Many Singaporean like to kapo and be kwai lan kia. Very good. Therefore they will seek a type of government who is also kaypo and kwai lan.
The people in the government come from the same mother's chow xi bai's as the people lah.
So you tell me in 2016, even if you vote the PAP the fuck out, things are going to change?
KAN TI TU LAH!
The fact that everyone is waiting for the next GE to make a change says nothing will change.
ReplyDeletePple have been doing nothing in betw GEs. They only wait to vote, to make a change. Nothing else.
Even in Middle Eastern countries pple don't depend on just GEs for change. They bring it about thru more than a mere vote.
And if by some strange stroke, a new party takes over the govt, pple will simply sit back and wait for that party to bring about change. Sporeans will do nothing.
Basically, Sporeans are unable to bring about change themselves. We are all soft, spoonfed creatures, terrified of change.
I am not sure what LHK meant. Is he saying it would not be possible to create that same number of jobs or is he saying too many have been going to foreigners?
ReplyDeleteMake me think of a chinese song with lyrics "我到底是哪里做错 让你如此对待我"
ReplyDeleteThe damage to the citizen is hard to repaire and may be passing down to their next generation.
