The new million dollar politician mindset

It is your problem and you are to solve it. The govt is there only to facilitate you in finding your own answers. It is not the responsibility of the govt to come up with solutions. It is okay for the govt to create the problems no matter how much you opposed them. The govt is there to do what the govt thing is right and any problem arising…it is the people’s problem and the people have to solve it.

Imagine this is the new mindset of the politicians, after being paid in multi millions annually, do not have to be responsible for providing solutions and even can go on creating more problems.

If this the new mindset of the million dollar politicians. Imagine if this is not a joke but for real? Imagine if a minister actually said that it is not the job of the govt to provide the answers but for the people to come up with the answers?

What about the strategy of creating problems that offered solutions like COE to solve traffic congestion, housing subsidies to solve high property prices, Medishield to solve ever increasing medical cost, more training to help retrenched workers? Or more integration activities to solve new and old citizen tension, or more salary increases to solve corruption problem?

But nothing beats asking the people to provide the answers to all the problems created by dunno who.

  1. We did not ask for the current 5+ million squeeze, the million dollar HDB, the 90K COE, the million dollar salary for the minister, there weren't any referendum on any of the above. They created the problem and now they say its not their job to solve the problems, we the people has to solve it???? This is the biggest pile of BS that has been dished out in the last 47 years as a NATION!!! Time for a CHANGE....

  2. [What being truly elite is]

More needs to be made of people who do, or do not do, certain things because the acts, in themselves, are right or wrong.

We should also focus public attention on people who improve the lot of the less fortunate, often at a cost to themselves.

We should aim to have an elite who believe in this.

  3. If you ask the minister, the likely answer - "What do you think?"

    1. This will be the standard response from PAP. Don't think any minister can survive public debates with secondary school kids.

  4. Now, they are going to say, you pay peanuts, you get monkeys. See, I told you so!

Anyway, the oracle aleady threatened that we may get a dose of bad governance. He was not joking. Cut their salaries and they will now justify that with several doses of bad governance lately. See, we have no more right even to complain, they will tell you.

We, actually, fell into their trap.

  6. Don't blame the people. It is the leader who messed up
Don't expect the people to solve problems created by the leadership.
So typical that PAP ministers are quick to reward themselves but fail to solve problems created by their flawed policies.

  8. Initially I thought this 'What do you think' was just a joke. Looks like this is real. They are not going ask the people for the answers.

  10. 40% of Singaporeans already provided their own solutions to the problem of Millionaire Ministers in GE 2011.

I hope to see more than 40% in GE 2016.

believes that leaders are supposed to provide solutions and leadership.

"You know, soothing words are nice, but maybe it’s time that the two people who want to be President of the United States stand up and tell us what they are going to do about it, because this is obviously a problem across the country,"

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg called on President Barack Obama and GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney Friday to detail their views to improve gun control in wake of the mass shooting at an Aurora, Colorado movie theater that left at least 12 dead and scores wounded.

  12. It is true that the problems are getting too complicated and difficult for our leaders to solve,I suggest the formation of committees to solve the difficult problems,of course the ministers should not get millions, they should get $1 to signify our appreciation.

  15. I still remember we paid $500,000 to get foreign consultants to rename marina as MARINA,so may not be worthwhile. But if the leaders are very smart sure they can get very clever foreign consultants.

What ? So adacity is his belief ! Can we petition to sinful government to revoke the prize award because the prize is more in line deserve for leader that push the buck to the people rather than to provide solutions and leadership. How can LKY award given to people who does not do what LKY and PAP govt do ?

    Redbean,
    what do you think ?
